Underrated fashion icons: Dana Scully

So I just recently started watching 'The X-Files' and was pleasantly surprised to see that Special Agent Dana Scully (played by Gillian Anderson) can seriously work a button-up shirt and suit combo. Say what you will about the women's power suit, I myself would never personally wear one*, but I have the utmost respect for anyone who can pull it off in all its 90s dowdiness glory.

According to Wikipedia, show creator Chris Carter aimed to to reverse the traditional gender stereotypes we see in the media by making Mulder a believer and Scully a skeptic. The masculine elements of Scully's wardrobe tie in flawlessly with this concept. It makes it so much easier for me to identify with a character's personality when stylists give them continuously cohesive looks.

*Upon revisiting this post a few years later, I have completely changed my stance on women's suiting and plan on having my own tailor made.
