What’s your blog’s header art from? It’s gorgeous!
That’s Sadak in Search of the Waters of Oblivion! (1812) (but the reduced version) by one of my favourite artists ever, John Martin!
My pookie John Martin also painted these:

Macbeth (1820)

Pompei
The next morning we woke up, packed, and departed our Naples digs. We hopped on the train very near our place and headed to Pompei. Matt had read there was a free bag drop at Pompei but it looked like a bit of a walk to the entrance from the train station, so we opted to pay 24 euros to store our bags at the train station. Turns out it was under 200 meters to the entrance and free bag storage. Doh! Another tourist mistake. Pompei was certainly much, much bigger than Herculaneum, but overall we are not sure if it was just "second day doing a similar thing" syndrome or if it was actually slightly less cool than Herculaneum. It certainly had cool sights to see including the massive scale of the site overall as well as the amphitheater and the forum. We were also excited to see more cool paintings and mosaics in another large bath house as well as a well preserved “beware of dog” mosaic. there were raised stone crosswalks over the roads designed so people could easily step across them but with grooves for wheeled carts to path through smoothly as well. The kids had fun hopping across these (apart from one Henry faceplant) and also were very interested in the ash casts of some of the people who died here (in contrast to the more typical looking skeletons we had seen in Herculaneum). Pompei was noticeably more crowded than Herculaneum with medium-long lines to get into several of the more interesting/preserved houses. After exploring for a few hours we decided we’d had our fill of ruins/volcanic destruction over the past 2 days, so exited the park, grabbed slushies for the kids to help counter the heat and hopped back on the train for a few more stops to Castellamarre di Stabia, there we hopped off the train and on a series of fairly poorly marked busses to Pianillo, our final destination for the day.

🇬🇧🇬🇧English🇬🇧🇬🇧 The eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD it is the main eruptive event of Vesuvius in historical times. Next ten pieces
I’m rejecting these pieces because of the pieces themselves. Honestly, I’m not sure why I chose these in the first place. I thought I don’t like the mediums at first but the more I thought about it, it’s the pieces themselves. They don’t really connect with me. Although I did think how interesting it would be to break down a piece that isn’t a painting or an illustration.  https://www.tate.org.uk/art/artworks/holzer-truisms-t03959 https://www.tate.org.uk/art/artworks/lichtenstein-brushstroke-p07354 https://www.tate.org.uk/art/artworks/martin-the-destruction-of-pompei-and-herculaneum-n00793 (way too many elements to deconstruct)
Not sure how to interpret it: https://www.tate.org.uk/art/artworks/braque-bottle-and-fishes-t00445 Background art: https://www.tate.org.uk/art/artworks/shaw-scenes-from-the-passion-late-t07945 https://www.tate.org.uk/art/artworks/turner-peace-burial-at-sea-n00528 https://www.tate.org.uk/art/artworks/lowry-industrial-landscape-t00111 https://www.tate.org.uk/art/artworks/nash-totes-meer-dead-sea-n05717 It was a tough choice to choose between these two but then I just tried to make a choice between lovely colour or interesting technique for the painting. As much as the piece with the gorgeous shades of blue, I went with:

Starting the project!
When we were given with the project brief and asked to choose from the artwork, I was definitely overwhelmed to find that there were 122,937 choices to choose from. Well, 77,568 in my case because I just stuck to the artworks category. We were given a short amount of time to choose 5 pieces so I started choosing. The method I went with choosing from this vast number of choices was just first impression. I opened up the notepad and added the links that were appealing to me at the first glance. Although I would like to go beyond this method and to do research on each piece before zeroing in on one because I’d feel uneasy about whether there exists a better option, I wouldn’t have enough time, obviously. But using this method, maybe I could find a piece that I have a good first impression on and would instantly click and from there, build a base with my passion for it. So with this, I went ahead and chose this pieces:

A lot... I know. But now I have a smaller range of choices, which is great! These are all the artworks that I liked by first glance or a brief reading of the description. Some reasons for my elimination of the other choices were some were portraits, some were unclear and it’s a bit hard to see for me, didn’t connect with, violent or risque, part of another project which I’m not sure would be allowed, and I would find difficult to apply to a gaming medium.

As seen above, I couldn’t completely go over all the options. But personally, I’m happy with the choices I have. I have 213 choices and hopefully, I’ll find something I’ll like there.
