Happy Halloween everyone. I just returned from trick-or-treating, and I thought I'd give to you my Killer Klowns From Outer Space headcanons.

The Klowns' popcorns are eggs which contain unborn young. The popcorn-eggs quickly gestate in enclosed and especially warm spaces (like popcorn buckets or popcorn machines) ;; the popping seen in the popcorn machines on the Big Top Tent spaceship are actually caused by the gestation itself, as the developing larva squirm.

The annelid form of the OffSpring is the larval stage of the Klown species. As they grow older limbs are formed (see Amphibians), and they gradually fatten up as they get bigger. As they get fatter, their skin will stretch to accommodate ;; and so, the purple skin of the larva is stretched until the flesh turns white, like their face. The hue of the skin signifies a Klown's age, and fully grown Klowns are a pale white color.

The larvae are spawned with closed eyes, such as many mammals on Earth, and like many Earth mammalians, their eyes will open as they grow. Once the young's eyes have opened, they are considered old enough to register a design for their makeup (on what is basically painted Easter Egg, called a Clown Egg, with the design painted on the shell). No two Klowns are to be the same, and upon maturity, the Klown is decorated with their design of choice with what is a more permanent version of water tattoos.

The notable noses of the Klowns are a sensory organ used to identify prey. The fleshy material that makes up the nose is quite sensitive in its own right, as well as heightened sensitivity to smells and electromagnetic fields. The nose of a Klown also is something that helps the species with depth perception ;; being able to tell how far away multiple prey items are at the same time. To strike, let alone destroy such an attuned organ, would cause a full nervous system breakdown, and could possibly destabilize the whole body ;; leading to violent chemical reactions as bodily functions overreact, and lead to an explosion.

JoJo the Klownzilla is much like a Queen Xenomorph, as he is the source of all popcorn-eggs. Every few hours, JoJo spits up a chain of spider-like egg sacs that look like a rope of multicolored handkerchiefs (see Never-Ending Handkerchief trick). The female Klowns unravel the egg sacs from one another, and set them into popping chambers. The sacs burst when the "kernels" (embryos) all pop into their more recognizable popcorn form.

Popcorn-eggs are flung at fleeing prey as a more predatory version of Quokka mothers dropping their pups to evade predators. The larvae are extremely bitey when they sense something near as a way compensate for their small size and lack of defenses ;; which makes them a perfect means to trap fleeing prey. Usually after capture, the young are retrieved and are allowed first dibs on the prey.

The Klowns are a sadistic, and somewhat hedonistic species with a high-tier of intelligence. This sharp-witted species use the "more fun" method of seizing prey, rather than an easy, more streamlined process ;; whatever may have a possibility of capturing prey items, will be utilized. Shadow Puppet Traps? Of course. Puppet Shows? A classic way to lull them, so foolish they are. Paper Whistles? Yes, definitely. And the various Klown artillery (such as Cotton Candy Rays and Balloon Guns) are commonplace.

The more enclosed of a place popcorn-eggs gestate in, the taller the Klown will be. The warmer of a place popcorn-eggs gestate in, the fatter the Klown will end up being. Due to Shorty's slim build and aptly tiny height, he is a runt.

Each individual Klown has a purpose on the Big Top Tent, and if they don't fulfill that purpose, they must see JoJo ;; who is likely to cannibalize them, so their good calories aren't to go to waste.

Klowns collect and/or store food in two ways ;; by consuming liquified prey, or by farming the food source. The cotton candy cocoons are an out-of-body digestion method which liquifies prey using digestive enzymes in the cotton candy-like material that makes up the cocoon, and a corrosive mucus lathering its inside. As for farming, the colorful balloons act similarly to egg shells ;; where it's a solid casing that also allows oxygen to pass through. By collecting male and female specimens and storing them in the balloons, they can farm prey.

The different castes of the Klowns serve different purposes ;; tall and slim Klowns are the scouts, who collect information about a location and store the cocoons/balloons after they are brought onto the Big Top Tent by lackeys. The fatter Klowns are the jocks, who hunt and who turn prey into cocoons or encase them in balloons. Short Klowns are the underlings, and often serve under other castes of Klown wherever they are needed. The females are JoJo's servants, who take care of the egg sacs and recently popped offspring. Lackeys are a disposable caste often used as a heavy-load workforce on the Big Top Tent, and are the least intelligent caste of Klown ;; they're usually cannibalized if there's not enough food on the ship as well. JoJo is the parent of all Klowns, and boss of the Big Top Tent, and every Klown is expected to protect him or dote on his every need ;; but females are with him full-time.

The jumpsuits worn by Klowns are multipurpose "spacesuits" that contain a variety of appropriately clown-like tools. The thick material of the jumpsuits give the sensitive flesh of a Klown a more protective external "hide" that provides a shield between a Klown's body and an attacking threat (see English Bulldog, Shar Pei). The young tend to wear thinner and less protective, though still extremely colorful, suspenders and pinstripe shirts as they are not mature enough to leave the Big Top Tent.

Balloons are a sacred symbol to Killer Klowns, and which represent their planetary plunderings. In an ancient, ritualistic sacrifice, a slow digestion process begins to eat away at whatever organic item is inside ;; creating efficient organic batteries used to fuel Klown technology.

Klowns have over 13 photoreceptive cells, and are able to see 500 new color variations that are unseeable to the human eye. Advancements to their technology have allowed them to weaponize color spectrums, black holes, and dwarf stars.

The Whirlygig refers to a phenomenon where Klown OffSpring entangle themselves with one another ;; creating a spiral-shaped, well, 'Whirlygig' (see Rat King). Whirlygigs are incredibly difficult to untangle, so many of these webs often go uncared for until they eventually consume one another, leaving a single, remaining OffSpring ;; or all members of the Whirlygig die. In incredibly rare instances, all members of a Whirlygig make it to maturity and become the "Whirlygig" caste, or monstrosity. Whirlygig castes are often sent to the core, where they will be incinerated for fuel. It's simply not worth it to keep a Whirlygig alive.

Killer Klowns have a natural ability to drop their limbs, as well as subsequently regrow them (see anole lizards). This was formerly used as a defense mechanism, but due to the species mischievous nature, this ability has been taken advantage of for a variety of inane gags and hunting tactics.
