the guy in the seat next to me on the plane was wearing a gown which was weird to me for two reasons:

1. it was about 2°celsius where the plane took off and his dress had a slit that went up to the top of his thighs so i can’t imagine it was warm enough

2. it was a two and a half hour flight, which i know is not that long but i can’t imagine that dress was too comfortable, i mean i was wearing jeans and a button up and that was one of the worst decisions i have ever made

but he looked marvellous though and he was really nice so no complaints there

#just to paint the picture: i was wearing two trousers and a button up and a knit sweater and i was cold #the guy was wearing a bright pink floor length dress with a slit on the left side all the way up and matching gloves #i just really can’t imagine that that would be comfortable for two and a half hours #and from what i’ve heard from his conversation with his friends he had a connecting flight after that #so like why wear a gown #but it was really pretty i can’t lie

Vietwardian look 3/? — this one is inspired by the Artistic Dress and Pre-Raphaelite movements, but mostly it’s an áo ngũ thân or ‘five-paneled robe’ with a smocked waist and fitted wrists. The red hairband and undershirt are taken directly from traditional Vietnamese styles (though from a mix of regions), while the shoes are a cross between two different syles of Vietnamese hài, with a more Edwardian profile.

every time i have to do a vision fields test, im the epitome of the this is great. im going to get a good grade in therapy peripheral vision, something that is both normal to want and possible to achieve tweet

except its not great because theres just long gaps where im not seeing any dots so i really dont think im going to get a good grade, and also this is relatively normal to want because losing peripheral vision is not typically a sign of healthy eyes and its possible to achieve by seeing all the dots and pressing the button to register that youve seen them, which again, i dont think i have.

oh and also, i havent got a bad grade in peripheral vision for at least a year so all of this stress is completely pointless. its like collateral damage from an accident that hasnt happened.

Feeling like I've fallen into the deep end realising that I can say 'I have sewn upwards of 20 buttons in the name of fandom'.

Trying to make old timey suspenders work in 2024 is so much work.

Which leads to an interesting conversation I once had with @historymaiden. Apparently they stopped selling men's trousers with suspender buttons pre-sewn in around WWII due to rationing. In other words, for the entire duration of Agent Carter, any male character you see wearing suspenders are either (a) wearing a pre-war garment, (b) had someone else sew it for them, either by a mother, or a girlfriend/wife, or they paid someone to do it, or (c) they have a little cookie tin sewing kit at home.

#and. look. not to treat show costumes as you know. a reflection of real world wardrobe #and not to treat characters as real people #but if you look closely most of the boys have the suspender buttons on the inside of the trousers waistband #and they don't have the ugly underside of the sewing showing through #that means whichever way the buttons are attached. the one doing it has to do it carefully to only poke through #the inner layer of the waistband #and i simply do not trust any man in this cast of characters to have the sewing skills and dexterity to do that #i have definitely gone off the deep end now back to caesar blogging #personal #for posterity this is also filed under #ac meta

Been roasted by my sisters for being dressed exactly like our grandad (button down flannel shirt tucked into joggers, old man slippers).

#in my defence this isn't an outfit i would wear out #i just swapped my work trousers for the joggers when i got in but didn't bother to change the shirt #i normally pair joggers with t-shirts and button downs with jeans or cords #although cords are still a bit old man #organic home grown content
