everybody listen up. “the artful dodger” on hulu is awesome. it scratches this niche itch i never knew i had for a dickensian based 1850s colonial australian medical drama. it’s quirky. it’s fun. it takes a historical premise and then puts rock music over it and it just works. the cast is stellar, their chemistry is perfect, the acting is brilliant, the cinematography is lovely. i would easily and gladly take 5 seasons of it. it’s… dare i say… artful. yes i’ll see myself out now

this cast deserves the world!
and disney clearly has a marketing budget of £0.00 for this show.
So I guess if you want something you better do it yourself!
The Artful Dodger was revealed on the 29th of November for USA & Australia and Today 17th of January comes out for UK, Europe and other territories!
If you are even mildly interested give the first episode a watch I beg of you, you will not be disappointed.

Rising from the dead as this is the only place that will appreciate how good The Artful Dodger is and it needs a season 2 just so the cast can continue having a good a time as they clearly had.

literally binged the entirety of The Artful Dodger within 24 hours of its release and absolutely fell in love. the last two episodes broke me but i need a season 2 right now or else i might explode.
please go check it out if you can it’s absolutely worth a watch. Thomas Sangster gives an incredible performance as Jack Dawkins and the entire cast are nothing short of incredible. all of the side characters are amazing and i love all of the dynamics throughout the show.
i really highly recommend giving it a watch.

my thoughts after the first episode of The Artful Dodger:
1. Starting the show with the Joker & the Thief is a Choice but it won me over immediately
2. Casting Remus Lupin is kind of brilliant because you want to trust him against your better judgement just like Jack.
3. Did not expect to get as emotionally invested in Jack as quickly as i did but all it took was one flashback to tiny 13 yo Dodger in jail to do me in.
4. Lady Belle Fox is very much That Bitch and we do love a lady who knows what she wants tbh
5. “I’m thinking.” Absolutely made me shriek lmao

“I do, I do [recall seeing The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show, on February 9, 1964]. I didn’t have TV, but my grandmother did, and I called her up and said, ‘Grandma, can we come up and watch Ed Sullivan on your…?’ She said, ‘Oh, yes, okay, darling, if you must.’ (Laughs) I remember it pretty vividly. What I remember among other things, that — as exciting as it was to see that, that they actually had done a somewhat better job on their records. That they — you know, the live show, I don’t know if they were nervous or if they didn’t care because the kids were screaming or what have you.” - Peter Tork, Breakfast With The Beatles, June 16, 2013
“What I was working towards was to be in a group. When the Beatles hit, where were all the folkies going to go? But I also wanted to be a folk music performer. A lot of what I did was hanging out, feeling for the first time that I was part of the scene, walking down the street and seeing people I knew, doing a little flirting.” - Peter Tork, Bringing It All Back Home: 25 Years of American Music at Folk City (1986)
Also on that same Ed Sullivan Show — the cast of Broadway’s Oliver!, including Davy Jones. On a Oliver!-related note…
“I used to do that song [‘Who Will Buy?’] when I was a Greenwich Village hippie folksinger. I don’t know why, but the song appealed to me, both on its own account as an exercise in chord changes and how to play it on guitar. It was amazing that I did a song from Oliver!, and there, in my face, lo and behold, was Davy Jones, the American original Artful Dodger.” - Peter Tork, The Birds, The Bees and The Monkees box set liner notes
