That night, Lilith chowed down on another slice of cold pizza (she’s really going to have to learn how to cook soon...) and made her way across the street to the 8 Bells bar. It was far too loud and crowded for her to be in any way happy there, but she figured she would need a drink before the lab. She spotted lots of military officials hanging out, but she couldn’t work up the nerve to confront them. Erwin’s comment about being taken out stuck with her.

It was a long drive to the Strangerville laboratory, and Lilith made it there just past midnight. Like Erwin had said, the place was abandoned. It looked like everyone had rushed out one day and never came back. She explored several rooms before coming across a large locked door. She tried pushing, pulling, and waving her arms in front of it but it stayed stuck.

“Great.” She muttered. “I’ve gotta find a stupid keycard now.” She hadn’t expected it to be easy, but she somehow didn’t anticipate breaking into a government building.

She found some interesting files scattered about, which she pocketed, but nothing about a keycard or passcodes. And she couldn’t make heads or tails of the computer’s security system which actually excited her. Computers were something she was good at.

It was a start! Not a very good one but a start nonetheless.
