i was skimming a book about an ethnographer's experience in japan (bc instead of stress-eating i stress-browse-library-shelves), and while they recorded all kinds of struggles with complex vocab meanwhile i remain forever haunted by the fact that once i went to the same place i had gone to for months intending to order the exact same thing i always order but i accidentally changed it into a question and after about 10 seconds of sounding like a fool i became so embarrassed at the prospect of inconveniencing the people queueing behind me that i literally fled the line LOL~

#the 20s yr old cashier watching me like :| she literally cannot order a burger #in my defense i returned later bc i needed food. this was doubly embarrassing.#but also coincidentally that was my last time at that store.... that was THEIR LAST IMPRESSION OF ME LOL.#one day i will find that mr max again #ignore me i have a headache from walking in splitting heat to get groceries on the high of an in-person lecture #what's it called when you have to wear the same clothes in the same patterns and order the same things and be super anxious #yet also smiling and nodding and getting super excited at every mundane thing the teacher says about cells !!!#personal
