every time I see political posts on socmed I have to really sit down and ask myself why I as an immigrant know more about how American politics work than Americans do
#user.dat#thinking about how it's very likely Roe v Wade is going to get overturned not because 'the alt right'#but actually because the supreme court rn has a majority of 6 textualists and 3/9 judges were chosen by trump#(textualists being the kind of people who go by the literal words of the constitution...which is bad because#Roe won bc the judges used a Vague Interpretation of the amendments to say that it should be legal and not the literal words)#the supreme court is inherently not democratic so it doesn't Really matter what the public thinks#the 1/3rd of the court being trump approved and the 2/3rd majority of textualists is the problem
