Off is getting hate for trying to be like Gun because he was wearing makeup and jewels on his face. As much as I love Gun, he wasn’t the first to do it. Let men wear whatever they want. I’m currently crossing my fingers and hoping one day Off will end me by wearing black nail polish but he will probably get hated on for that sigh

Gun is getting hate for being a slut lmao. At his birthday event, he basically ran off stage because they showed a video that included him dancing on the beach at his birthday party. And people were saying he has to deal with the consequences of his slutty behavior AGAIN LMAO! Slutty in a derogatory way doesn’t exist! people are just boring imo. An unpopular opinion: I don't get the Jaehaerys hateboner the fandom has for him. At least not the intensitiy. Maybe I'm too much of a law nerd to dislike a character who creates a codified law system and long term benefit infrastructure to scorn someone who's your regular run-off-the-mill misogynist in Westeros. (Personally, I take more offense with his aggressive Targaryen supremacy propaganda efforts...)

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): Hmm, Martin wrote this book as barely anything more than fleshed out bullet points with the purpose of narrating a semi historic account. Obviously in this format details and characterisation would be left less detailed and left for speculation. Yet I think Tess could've been given more than just a few lines.

002 | Send me a ship and I will tell you: (Preface: This is the only category for which I will base my answers on the showverse. Their ship is based on a dynamic that couldn't exist in the book verse due to their ages in the book.) - When I started shipping them: Actually I didn't, the concept seems intriguing though if I wasn't sideeyeing the writer's competence in writing fleshed out female characters with agency. - My thoughts: no great ones, except I'm really happy that a F/F pairing made it into the ranks of most popular ships in the fandom - and the girls remain interesting without watered down pastelcoloured uwu-fication (at least from I can gather from my mututals). - What makes me happy about them: The actresses for all time periods having put so much thought in the dynamic that the tension in the Dance of Dragons isn't "just" based in misogynistic sentiments and aspiration of power in a misogynistic system - but also in deeply personal tragedy. The original script didn't even consider Alicent's misgivings with her former friend beyond, let's call it unceremoniously, slutshaming and religious righteousness. The queer character of their relationship carved out by all four actresses enriched their conflict in it's core. - What makes me sad about them: Maybe misogyny cages them both yet Rhaenyra can live so many liberties with her father's blessing. Alicent will always remain an outsider, deprived of any Targaryen privileges, any sense of agency, her anger at Rhaenyra's arrogance is so palatable. - Things done in fanfic that annoys me: haven't read fanfic about them so far. -Things I look for in fanfic: Smut, Alicent on top, religious guild as zesty topping for dirty talk. :P - My wishlist: The Catch 22 of women in media is that any agency can easily lead to demonisation and ignorance to what the story wants to tell about a woman's fate by a larger fandom. Chanving off a lot of the agency, the men remaining the only villians behind the unfolding conflict, Alicent and Rhaenyra are stripped of agency, therefore undermining the theme of misogyny in the Dance of Dragons in a weird way. I don't know if such a story about the fallout of a queer lovestory and the bitter remains held by female characters would be given the grace by a format intended for mass consumption... Yet, in the books there was such a loud untertone of Alicent exercicing power through the men around her in contrast through Rhaenyra's direct action. Alicent found a way to cheat the system she upheld, the conflict felt so much more personal. The show defanged them and it's theme in a round about way. It would've been interesting to see how Alicent's resentment, fear, and actual anger could've become an action that would've added to the thematic depiction of women navigating their limited range in an overlooked way. (C'mon, HBO, how could you pull off Livia Soprano 25 years earlier but Alicent is damned into motionlessness from minute 1?) -Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Alicent should've had the Lavender wedding with Laenor and found company in Laena. Rhaenyra could've had Daemon if she wanted, but anyone of her choosing would've been fine too. -My happily ever after for them: Rhaenyra would've ascendet the throne with Alicent's belssing, they both would've raised their kids better so they would've grown up as siblings, both had a lavender weddings, while Alicent warms Rhaenyra's bed.

How I feel about this character: Until his meeting with Nettles where he appears to have had a change of heart I didn't care much of him, even absolutely understood why Viserys I exiling him repeatedly.

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: "Sir, please step away from that teenage girl." If it has to be someone, Corlys Velaryion then...

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: Caraxes.

My unpopular opinion about this character: As dubious I think his motives to turn towards Nettles are, not out of a change of heart against the war atroscities commited in Rhaenyra's name, at the end of his life he seems to have reflected on his past deeds, shown resignation.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: During his journey in the free cities, he would've found a medicinal remedy which could serve as Essosi equivalent to a chill pill.

My crossover ship: God forgive me for the crassness but an evil thought crossed my mind: Since Daemon is so darn set on dragons, violence, and fornicating with any sexually avaible female character... wouldn't that make him an ideal partner for Angelus in Drakengard?

How I feel about this character: Full of himself, arrogant, cruel! He's the absolute worst! Obviously, I love him.

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: His crew. No seriously, his voice barely stopped breaking, he leads an entire fleet against an army of dragon. Dalton must've earned some absolute loyalty for a good reason.

My unpopular opinion about this character: I really hope he becomes the fandom's new hyper problematic sexy man. There's nothing redemptive about anything he ever did and yet I already have visions of bodice-ripper-themed x reader fanfics with him.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I would be curious if there's a fanwork/plans for the showadaption detailing his pillaging through Tess' eyes. Not only do I think she desperately needs a voice, it would be a good perspective on the civilian casualties during the conflict. Sometimes the spectacle around the political characters overshines the explicit anti war elements.

Where do i even start with blade boy?

to me,he didn't matter ONE BIT in the first two books, because my innocent self thought "hey,this is an ETL story,Darklina endgame no matter what and Malyen will just,,,go away" but,alas,I was fooled and baited by Leigh Bardugo. But that rant is for another day. My problem with Malyen isn't just that he's boring and basic and has the personality of a broken pencil. It's deeper than that. But he's someone so irrelevant to me,that I don't like chanelling my energy towards him. But let's go.

My problem with Malyen is,he seems very real. The way he treats Alina,the way he's filled to the brim with victim complex,the way everything he says to her is something I've heard myself,the way he thinks that he should be rewarded for being there for his best friend. Basically,he's the embodiment of what a real toxic man is like. Notice how I emphasized on real? Because men like him exist. And we deal with them everyday. They belittle you. They gaslight you. They slutshame you. They mock you for being happy and independent. They say they're scared of you,even when you don't mean any harm,when you're the more powerful one for once. They scream at you for flinching. They keep on reminding you of the things they did for you,even if you didn't ask them to in the first place. They think tht can talk on your behalf. They. Are. Real. Alot of people argue that Malyen was just 17 and dealing with alot so we can't hate him,they also say he's the less toxic choice for Alina. But this isn't a competition of more toxic and less toxic,it shouldn't be. You're either toxic,or you're not.

I know and I understand that Aleksander was toxic too. But Aleksander is a centuries old shadow summoning grisha. Aleksander is a fairytale villain meanwhile men like Malyen are very real. And as someone who has been in an extremely emotionally abusive relationship,the way Malyen went ahead and kissed Zoya rather than talking and understanding Alina's situation and why she flinched,it reminded of the times I was misunderstood,of the times when I flinched and was punished with a cold shoulder and ill treatment. I choose to ignore Malyen and the shitty endgame in the books,but how am I supposed to ignore it when it happens in my reality too? Bardugo very recently mentioned how she was in an abusive relationship herself when she was writing SnB,so after that info,I'm supposed to hate Aleksander, right? Because according to her he is the embodiment of her abusive ex,but what she seems to forget is,the main relationship in the books isn't Darklina,it's Malina. And Malina on its own is still a very,very toxic and weak ship. Alina mutilated herself just because she didn't want to leave Mal when the Grishas were testing her. In the beginning of SnS,Mal for once does not care that Alina is getting sick and frail because she's not using her powers. More than once he mentions how he's scared of her and how he wants the old Alina back. The same Alina who you ignored the whole time,Malyen? The same powerless and dependent Alina?

I'll be very honest,I started to love him in RnR. Yes,love him. His and Alina's platonic dynamic makes me SO happy. They'd be perfect as friends. But by the time the book ended and Alina lost her powers and even after being offered by Nikolai to rule Grishas and Ravka,she said no,how much should I bet that if Malyen stayed dead,she would've said yes? Malyen got EXACTLY all that he wanted,Alina legit got nothing. But how can I blame either when both of them are equally selfish? Yes,Alina is selfish,that's something I'll rant about some other day.

Thoughts about show! Malyen? He's not even the same person he is in the books and I'm so sorry to say that Malyen on his own is great but the 8 hrs of Malina? Not something I'd like to go through again. Show! Malyen is funny and is there for his friends and has his own struggles but if you have to completely drastically do a 180° on a character,it proves the point that he wasn't nice in the first place. If he was already the amazing character we were told he was,why would they not follow anything he did or said in the books? Why did they choose to make Zoya a racist on top of the meangirl bully plotline which already made her unlikeable yet make show! Malyen this embodiment of Mr. Perfect that he isn't? Isn't it fucking hilarious how people sympathized for him for losing Mikhael and Dubrov yet shit on Aleksander for being so vengeful after seeing centuries of his people, Grisha and Ravkan alike,dying,burned on stakes, experimented on while he could do nothing to stop it? Hypocrisy,hm? The only thing in commow show! Malyen and book! Malyen have are their names and being a tracker because the rest is just different, drastically different. And if they're gonna stick to the Malina propaganda in S2 too,then can someone make a compilation of all Darkling/Darklina/Crows scenes and send it to me? Because I won't be watching it.

Yeah thank you for pointing it out. I didn’t want to say anything, because I don’t pay attention to boy groups so I don’t know what goes on over there. But Taeyong never was accused of getting his position because he slept the CEO. Rumors weren’t spread about him that he slept with the producer. He never had deep fakes be posted all over twitter, all of them getting 12k likes. The way man and women are seen and treated in Kpop will NEVER be the same.

Exactly! Taeyong do get hate but the major thing i read was that he scammed people perdebut (wich was untrue) and that he used to be a bully at school (allegedly) wich was true. People cannot see that Jennie get hate for existing... Women and men don't get hate for the same things and is rooted in differents thing. Women are hated because they are women.

no it’s not fucking justified that he “planned ahead” fucking 4 years in advance lmao especially when he fucking lied. he was networking and working on a solo career when he should’ve been, in his own fucking words, focusing on the group. he separated himself from the boys and took different planes and hired a different team and ditched their birthdays and special events just so he could stand out and outshine them for no reason other than his own ego. what is admirable about that? how would you feel if that was your own friend doing that? this is supposed to be the humble selfless angel cupcake who would lay down his life for everyone but himself. the one his own fans call a charitable angel with 0 ego who only cares about making people feel validated and accepted. meanwhile we have gotten nothing that proves that lmao. he treated the other boys like absolute shit and he still does. he’s condescending and dismissive and throws shade while smirking over what a fuckign snob he is. because that’s the kind of person he is. he paraded his current solo manager in OUR faces and THE BOYS’ faces since 2013 and then LIED and said he only thought about going solo during the hiatus. he thought we’d be stupid enough to believe it. the only reason he didn’t quit when he SHOULD HAVE is because he wanted to save up that 1d money to pay for his expensive suits, mansions, and yachts. we were paying his fucking bills for a job he was not doing. no one gives a shit about his business strategy of oh how smart he is for networking when it involves screwing over his own fans and THREE OTHER BOYS WE CARE ABOUT because he knew we would NEVER have supported him if we knew what he was doing. he’s a manipulative narcissist who sees his friends as disposable and lesser if they’re not directly useful to him anymore. he didn’t pour his heart and soul into 1d at all lmao he half-assed it to the end all while lying about how much he cared about the group. he stayed for the attention and money and then suggested a hiatus like a snake just so HE had the opportunity to go solo like HE AND SONY PLANNED AGAINST THE BOYS’ BACKS. he said it was to give the fans a break, his fans said it was to give the boys a break, meanwhile he just wanted a solo career so he could be a rockstar superstar. he suggested the hiatus for completely selfish reasons. he should’ve fucking quit but he knew if he did NONE of us would support him. none of the boys even had solo contracts until harry publicly announced his 80 million dollar record deal he had been planning since 2013. 

we’re not his investors sorry we don’t give a fuck about how sneaky and successful he is or how much of a legend he is(which, hint: he is neither). we’re the people who’ve been paying his bills and making him a millionaire while being emotionally invested in him for fucking 7 years when we wouldn’t have paid him a penny if we knew what he was doing. he knows nothing about loyalty and he sees his fans the same way he sees the boys. as lesser. as trivial. as numbers and if they don’t add up to a nice balance in his bank account he ditches them. NO ONE wants to support a human being that selfish, that narcissistic, and that manipulative. giving out pageant answers about how the girls are our future while slutshaming kendall on television. talking about how much he values his girl fans while only using his platform to thank his manager and all the people who were paid to praise him. 

how the fuck do you justify all of that? how can you look at all those facts and decide he’s still worth stanning and supporting financially when he can’t even be arsed to remember you exist unless he’s putting on a show for his investors at a concert you paid him for?

The Hidden Hipster History of the Alt Right? (/clickbait)

The fact that “alt lit”, which I had analyzed as the possible aesthetic foundation of an “alt” social movement, collapsed in a series of rape & abuse scandals in 2014 and was almost immediately followed by the emergence of a fascist “alt right” has been giving me really powerful Bad End feels for a while (including worrying about whether the choice point had been my own failure to boost “alt politics” as a yung liberal) the “alt lit” designation started reappearing this past ~season, in the complete absence of anyone I know of consciously writing under it, which was weird  also I’ve been spending time on Twitter lately and realizing that correlation is the tip of the iceberg, which may not even be purely kabbalistic.  In particular, I’ve noticed a growing crossover area between anime communist and anime fascist Twitter - which @nihilsupernum always used to say were the same thing, and I never bought that, but then I was just going on Tumblr examples.  @SisypheanSperg/@Polyphemus_____ (does anyone know what he got suspended for?  I’m too lazy to research) seems like the perfect epicentre of this, and I actually can’t tell what the fuck his ideology is except /r9k/.  All the significant #frogtwitters follow him as do a bunch of /leftypol/ tankies - and what’s interesting is these aren’t Catholic Tank Club-type fascist sympathizers, as far as I can tell, but violent antifa supporters.  their alignment is completely non-ideological and yet they’re also followed and retweeted by a bunch of #frogtwitters.  And what they all have in common is a bunch of formal & generic characteristics common with alt lit - a preoccupation with their “brand”, the “irony/sincerity” dichotomy, insider memes, and tweets that would not sound out of place in a Steve Roggenbuck video.  some of that is purely genealogical - “Weird Twitter”, Something Awful, stoner comedy and 4chan (Steve Roggenbuck once said alt lit is basically 4chan, IIRC) influences.  some of it is generational.  but at this point it’s nonidentical to any single determination.  there is such a thing as a generalized “alt” culture/style/ethos that was, actually, implicit when the kinda dated 90s term reemerged as a cool internet thing - thanks to HipsterRunoff, which used it afaict “ironically” to describe the cultural space around the music scene that had actually been calling itself “indie” for a while.  Hipster Runoff’s writing style was one of, if not the major point of reference for the name when alt lit started calling itself that.  “alt lit” meant not just an alternative to the mainstream of literature but literature that was part of the “alt” subculture Carles described.  the people Carles gossiped about definitely left their basements more often than these Twitter types but there are definitely direct links between HipsterRunoff and “alt” twitter/chan culture: for instance, musical genres ending in “-wave” (again a retro-ism, but vaporwave definitely got it from chillwave, not New Wave directly). so was the ceremonial execution of “alt lit” was not only, as I’ve always held, counterproductive (vulnerable writers from that scene were mostly reuptaken into academia, an equally abusive world where the kind of crowd-based accountability mechanisms that the crisis demonstrated functioning successfully simply don’t exist) but ahistorical?  alt lit was always equated to a constellation of first-order social ties because people these days are pre-emptively embarrassed to periodize themselves, but by now there are too many data points to mistake any such attempt for crackpot self-promotion, nor a question of personal or ideological self-identification per se otoh, even if it’s too broad to be moralized (and the Twitter accounts that fall under this heading are all conspicuously amoral) under a single failure mode (alt right, Tao Lin), “alt” culture as a whole can and should still be critiqued.  Carles himself did as much, not only with the “Alt Report” but with his final pronouncement of the failure of “alt” and call to embrace “auth”, whatever that means: from the problems I see “alt” subculture facing right now, I’m guessing some kind of cultivation of the inner wisdom and resilience (rather than accelerated, hyper-networked “boosting”) necessary to withstand "meme magic”, cybernetic behaviour programming, Spectacle and the stratum of Real Abstraction from which it projects its holograms.  maybe even “getting off the internet” and the charges under which alt lit was condemned apply to the whole.  the “alt” tendency within millennial culture, perhaps best understood as a way of relating online/millennial culture to mass culture and mass politics in general, is the cultural lens of the Young-Boy in relation to Tiqqun’s Young-Girl (I’ll write more on this eventually), and overtly male-dominated (externally and internally) in all its forms (going back to HipsterRunoff, with its “ironic” slutshaming of Young-Girl popstars). all its failure modes branch out from the logic of late capitalist male socialization.  and while people who write and think in male and by extension “alt”-articulated ways (i.e. myself) exist, “auth” lit and politics going forward needs to either synthesize or reject this gendered dialectic.  

Alenkorra, a former mutual, blocked me or some shit, which is fine. We'd been arguing about whether or not the DA2 characters Aveline and Isabella were a good ship. They're not. Just because a ship is queer doesn't mean it's automatically good. Aveline slutshames Isabella every time they're in the same space for more than thirty seconds; calls her a whore, slattern, slut, etc, and makes snide comments about her sexual preferences and activities. Isabella gives it right back by insulting/mocking Aveline's prudishness and physical appearance.

If that sounds like the basis of a romantic entanglement to you, follow Alenkorra's lead and just block me now. That is some toxic shit and it's gross. It reeks of adults telling a kid on the playground that their bully only picks on them because 'they really like you; go talk to them some more!'

Aside from the oil and fire dynamic between those two, Aveline is uninterested in lesbian relationships in general. If femHawke flirts HARD all through the quest to help Aveline with Donnic, then Aveline gives femHawke a lame 'thank you kiss' at the end, and blocks any attempt to take things further, because she's happy with her boring, salted fish of a subordinate. She does this to mHawke too, yes, but this shit hits different when it's a woman rejecting a woman in favor of a man. It just does.

And yes, I am judging Aveline to be straight. Her first husband was a classic male Templar toolbag; he died and she mourned him for years, and when she was finally ready to move on, she latched on to Donnic like the straightest, most disappointing, socially awkward limpet in all of Thedas. Either that woman is straight, or she has shoved her queerosity so far into the deepest, darkest recesses of her psyche that she fucking may as well be.

There is a trend I have noticed in Bioware/EA rpg games. They give us these strong, baddass female warrior npcs and companions, and then code them so that female protagonists can't romance them. They did it with Aveline, and with Cassandra in DAI, with Jack and Miranda in ME2, with Cora in MEA...I can't wait to see who they'll put in DA4 for us to get excited about, only to realize they're either completely unavailable to your character whatever their gender, or they're just unavailable to your female character, because why go to the trouble of giving gaymer girls anything they'd actually want; they don't really exist!

While we're denying the existence of things, Xena and Gabrielle were just the bestest of friends, as were Marcie and Peppermint Patty! No one wanted Buffy and Faith to have an actual romantic relationship, and Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus were totally just affectionate cousins! Yep! Nothing to see or read into there!

Ugh.

Anyway, yeah. Back to my original point. Aveline and Isabella are pretty much incompatible. The writers nuked that potentiality with all the toxic personal attacks and slutshaming that happens between them throughout the game. I can't even see them hate-fucking, because that would require Aveline to take the cedar tree out of her ass and actually touch Isabella. I just can't get there from here.

Even though Blaine was overstepping, he does realise that it's important to be educated and steps to papa Hummel (...a week after he woke up with a hangover in his son's bed) Yuè 3x05: taking the next step together, actually discussing it as a healthy couple should and yes, there was a misstep, but Blaine admitted he was a dick (which led to him not getting dick) and after they're both sure it's okay and that they're ready, they go for it Yuè 4x14: by this time, they're both comfortable and confident. sure, I really didn't like where their relationship shifted to, but both boys have grown a lot and know themselves Yuè 5x16: shows that emotional safety also plays a huge part in their sex lives since it is all about intimacy, and they both decide to work it out and help each other after they find out they've both been struggeling in their own ways (i mean, Blaine had a fucking breakdown in the middle of the loft) Yuè and I love that, okay? I really do. Yuè not only that, but they're also a mlm couple that's allowed to be open about their sex lives and their intimacy struggles and their relationship Yuè I really don't like sex storylines, but those little references to that part of their relationship ("...more intimate than sex" "and god knows what they hear from us") just makes me really happy because they are happy and have grown!!! Yuè yes, I did reimagine their entire story (1x03 to 6x13) with them both being asexual because I needed it for my own emotional safety (sometimes, being sex repulsed in a sex crazed fandom makes you feel alone) but that's only headcanons Yuè cause I sure as fuck love my ace!Klaine glee and it makes me happy and we need more ace representation, but it also makes me happy that they're not ace in canon cause the storyline they got was actually quite good, also for their individualities
