The next Usher will fall tonight
We didn't see her death but we know it was brutal. Still she went out without fear and I respect that.

that scene with verna and madeline talking in the old house was great, but it would’ve been perfect if they kissed again. the sexual tension between them was insane + i just wanted to see carla gugino kiss another woman.

Thinking about how, at the end of tfothou, once all the Usher's have died, all their money and all their wealth gets used for something good. How Juno uses the inheritance to create addiction rehabilitation programs, effectively helping to fix the problems Fortunato's drugs caused and how Morelle does similar with her lenore foundation and how Verna says that she helps millions of people who go on to help millions more. Like, to me that just illustrates how all that wealth could really be used to make people's lives better and how the rich and wealthy could easily make a difference but choose not too. The Ushers, for all their wealth, chose not to help and instead caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands for a profit and it took every one of them dying for that wealth to be used for something positive.

question. do we know exactly what were the (i'm assuming roderick's) choices that verna mentions in ep 2? "one and then another, and then a big one and then one of absolutely no importance"?

GOD that scene where Frederick is yelling at Perry as he recites the "mutual compliance" line... while Pym talks along with him in the background.... Frederick is really a puppet of a puppet trying to puppet his younger brother. Like, Perry is terrible but his IDEA at least is to turn something from the old Usher company into something new. Meanwhile Frederick just has... nothing inside him. He doesn't have his own words, he doesn't have his own goals, he has nothing but the control and violence that he inflicts on others. I really wish there had been more Perry and Lenore interacting because they're so close in age, and what would being the "bad child" standing next to the similar, perfect "good child" do to you....

His death being unavoidable, though it also being avoidable? Sure could say his attention was brought to the barrels by Verna. Yet it technically was the start of the warning. How many times he was given the space to not go out that way; being so headstrong and making his own inevitable demise. Sure he would have died anyways, some other way but with him- the only action taken was when the warnings didn't latch. As such at that point came the whispering in ears, only the locking of doors. (whispering in the ears of specifically the staff so they were spared what followed+his sister in law as well) The warning conversation rather implying it's obviously not likely his first brush with death either. Which makes perfect sense with his lifestyle; the heavy partying and drug use. (Or alternatively maybe that it actually is his first real tangible brush with death) That slight fascination implied probably why he was given an ticket to go out another way if he only listened and made that choice.
(Which could be so interesting to explore, especially in threads like alternatively how he could've gone out if he did stop it, stepped out or an few different walking of an different path to his demise)

The fun thing about binge watching The Fall of the House of Usher the week after it came out, is that I got to binge watch The Fall of the House of Usher the week after it came out (and for once I watched it before anyone I know)
The not fun thing about binge watching The Fall of the House of Usher the week after it came out, is that I watched it before literally everyone else around me and have no one to talk about it with and also it's only been out like a month so it's too early for people to have made things like video essays 🙃

I rewatched tfothou again and if there actually had been an informant and not just Auggie lying through his teeth, it absolutely could have been Lenore. Would it have been obvious? Blantly. But best hidden in plain sight.
