Did you actually read dr0? Mukuro was incestuous then too lol
i must’ve missed that chapter because i don’t recall mukuro ever expressing a sexual or romantic interest in her sister. y’all saw her being bizarrely obsessed with junko and decided that meant she wanted to fuck her, which, discourse aside, is a really shallow analysis tbh.

Ed: -drinks something she shouldn't have from the lab because she thought it was coffee-
Lucy: "I established two rules! What were they?"
Ed: "Fuck you!"
Lucy: "What were they??"
Ed: "I don't know, "don't do my fucking job"??"
Lucy: "All substances that are used within the lab must stay in the lab AND I cannot have to phone the urgent care more than once a week!"
Ed, (Seinfeld voice):
"What was this week???"
Lucy:
"I thought you were screaming in agony!!"
Ed:
"My Chemical Romance is not a valid reason to call an ambulance! That one doesn't count."

i've seen this panel cropped SOMEWHERE, probs making a meme or a compilation or something but the thought of it being in a four-chapter-proximity to the abomination that was the first chapter psychosomatically itches.

Stable Diffusion #advanced1
Pl. Kano-t a pincébe.
Tumblr media
Nemcsak objektumokat taníthatunk meg így, hanem természetesen stílusjegyeket is. Pl. a Tron című filmek hangulatvilágát, vagy egy nem ismert művész stílusában festhet az AI.

and yknow what? It couldve worked. They couldve somehow wrote an interesting way in which throwing a child off a cliff was a necessary sacrifice for humanity, but they are so hellbent on never giving any texual sympathetic elements to kazuya to really hammer in his evil nature that it's just frustrating. It's the most defining and important aspect of his character and we (him included) arent allowed by the text to feel bad about it. It's just unfair.

Making a quick post with some of the texts I read during seminary on biblical criticism. These are very much academic texts; if you haven't been trained in reading academia they'll be very hard to get through.
If anyone knows of more accessible resources on the topic of biblical criticism, I'd love to know them!
Engaging Biblical Authority: Perspectives on the Bible as Scripture by William P. Brown, which offers 16 points of view on how to view the Bible (including one Jewish perspective and a variety of liberationist perspectives);
Biblical Interpretation: A Roadmap by Frederick C. Tiffany and Sharon H. Ringe, which introduces you to understanding the how your context impacts your reading, how various texual and historical contexts impact any given Bible passage, some stuff about critical analysis, etc.
Elements of Biblical Exegesis by Michael J. Gorman — this one gets really into biblical criticism and hermeneutics; it's dense but there are a lot of concrete examples that are nice
The Art of Theological Reflection by Patricia O'Connell Killen and John de Beer, for connecting our personal experiences to Christian tradition.

KNOCKOUTS: Kakegurui (2014 - ?)
Tumblr media
Kakegurui is an ongoing psychological series written by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Tooru Naomura about a school that runs on games of chance.
Hyakkaou Private Academy. An institution for the privileged with a very peculiar curriculum. You see, when you're the sons and daughters of the wealthiest of the wealthy, it's not athletic prowess or book smarts that keep you ahead. It's reading your opponent-the art of the deal. What better way to hone those skills than with a rigorous curriculum of gambling? At Hyakkaou Private Academy, the winners live like kings, and the losers are put through the wringer. But when Yumeko Jabami enrolls, she's gonna teach these kids what a high roller really looks like! - AniList
Original JP available on Book Walker & ENG published by Yen Press.
CWs under the cut. General severity rating: mod to major.
not strictly yuri <- there are canon lesbians, an overwhelming femslash majority on ao3, and an undeniable homoerotic pull himejoshis are sure to enjoy, but only a small portion of homoeroticism is texually romantic. it's a shounen with yuri flavour.
sexual content <- kakegurui has ecchi elements, and you get the typical sexual framing that comes with that, including frequent pantyshots. no sex happens but there is obvious arousal and non-explicit masturbation.
dehumanisation <- the only way i can think to word this. people in heavy debt are treated as "housepets," less than human. this results in bullying, harassment and controlling their lives after graduation. the bullying extends to hitting and forcibly cutting hair; harassment includes forcing a girl to strip and threatening rape (both in ch5); control extends to essentially selling people's lives and arranged marriages.
forced sex work(???) <- not totally sure how to categorise this but i think it needs a heads up. references throughout to, in conjunction with above and in the same vein as arranged marriages, making women have sex for political or social gain. never shown or described in detail, but it is a looming threat.
worth mentioning; while the housepet and life plan stuff comes up every now and again, its not as frequent or as dire later on as it is in the early chapters. the recurring cast are, generally speaking, nicer as the series finds its footing.
problem gambling & financial distress <- most characters are obscenely rich so impact of gambling addiction is lessened, though it is a bit glamourised.
violence <- typically in the case if going to drastic measures in gambling, like breaking a finger to win or risking chopping a finger off. includes trauma to the eyes and fingernails. bloody, but not excessively. not graphic, and not especially frequent.
suicidality & attempted suicide <- punishment for one gamble involves jumping from a height (ch33), and presumably to death. ch68, someone threatens to kill herself to make her opponent fold. also, presentation is crazy enough that it doesnt feel like it would be especially triggering (imo) but one character is very fixated on her own death, particularly in regards to getting shot.
internalised racism <- ch19, a child is told to give up on her dream because a japanese person couldnt do it
vomitting <- scene in ch57. not super detailed but icky enough that i baulked at it a bit, and im not usually bothered by it.

IM MAKING ANOTHER SHOW RECOMMENDATION
Plz watch Jellyfish Can't Swim In The Night!
Its got:
-a main character who stopped drawing because her friends made fun of a mural she made and now she has no self confidence
-a disgraced former idol who loves singing so much she won't stop no matter what and loves that mural so much
-a sad lonely girl who's only solace in life was said former idol and is now absolutely, bonkers obsessed with her
-the childhood friend of the main character who's a vtuber shut in
-FOUR SAD LONELY GIRLS WHO MAKE A BAND TOGETHER AND BECOME FRIENDS AND TEACH EACHOTHER TO BE MORE CONFIDENT AND SHIT ITS SO GOOD I LOVE THAT SHIT
The art direction is so good, the art itself is so good its so pretty, there's only three(?) Episodes on rn its on hidive but like watch it illegally if you want im not your mom
I know my audience and I know many of you will ask "is it gay" and I can see it being a bait but it's unlikely to be texually gay, but anything can be gay if you have an open heart and believe in yourself lmao

The way that there absolutely needed to be a conversation between Nancy and Steve but it shouldn't have happened like THAT
Nancy is a very by the book person so it's not surprising to me that she thinks, at least texually, that Steve should be doing better but she doesn't understand the sheer scope of his trauma and how he literally has little to no concept of individuality because he's been taken advantage of for as long as he can remember!! He can't just 'get better' from that Nance!
But I also understand why Steve would be an overwhelming traumatizing experience for her. His love is terrifying and that's a lot for a teenage girl to handle. Something something, the way Nancy and Steve both learned to de-escalate and make themselves smaller to appease the men in their life. Just AAAA
This is such a fascinating thought, thank you!!💜💜💜

Week 5 Critical quotations & Texual Evidence- Yanissa Agbigay
“Human beings have created a million explanations of the meaning of life... in art, in poetry, and mathematical formulas.” I chose this one quote because I found it beautiful because it is true, that though we may not have the same beliefs or experiences we all share some sort of art though it be through music or many other forms of art.
youtube
David: What's for dinner tonight? Monica: You know you don't eat. David: Yes. But I like sitting at the table.” I also used this conversation between the two characters because I found it laughable and also very wholesome because David (the robot) is trying to fit in and find a way to be a real person and son to his so called parents.

honestly though the thing abt rlly fucked up stuff in fic is that. beyond an inherent fascination with vicarious experience of the extremes of human emotion. and beyond pseudosexual obsession with the forbidden and the taboo that can be experienced on the texual and metatexual level. in my experience (lol) when fucked up stuff happens in real life a lot of the time it feels like anybody who wasn’t actually there is incapable of truly understanding it in the sense that any attempt to recount it feels either insufficient or gratuitous to the point of exaggeration. fic delivers catharsis via proxy in multiple senses: the reader witnesses trauma in its graphic entirety and other characters in the story witness, and will inevitably react to the trauma

Clark&Lois&Lex | Judas | #sellsnyderversetonetflix
Hi. It's me. Your hostile snydercultist from the neighbourhood.
Basically this starts out as a 'hey Judas' lyrics is so clark/lois/lex‘ LETS DO THIS but it kinda end up as a bvs texual analysis and appreciation video essay Also in terms of the current dc situation? FUCK THEM. FIRE JAMES GUNN. It's like how did everybody forgiven him for what he had done? Like why do men in the media industry always get away with anything and still become creative CEO???? Why creator like Zack who always treat his creative partners especially women and poc with such great respect, in the workplace and in their story but get nothing??? And their new superman agenda is so disgusting. really. it's 2023 and we are still going for the 'american way'???? Gunn said he fired Cavill because he's a foreigner and superman is a true-blooded American? Wow. The essence of the superman story is always about immigrants and acceptance. And Zack Snyder knows, as a storyteller, that Heroism in stories needs to be constantly interroigated and challenged, not because the concept is falsed, but this process teaches people to carry the duty to recognize good and evil, truth and justice in the real world. That's why the snyderverse's superman has that Joseph Campbell quote on his suite. And what Safran said in the interview? Their superman has traditional value of kindness which is considered old-fashioned? Did you copy that from a republican MAGA propaganda? Maybe change clark's name to MAGAMAN if that's your idea? "Every act on this planet is a political act."
