“baby, hey.” he snapped his fingers before her to get her attention, “can you grab me the milk from the fridge?” he drained the water from the pasta before tossing in some herbs and spices for the pasta he was cooking for the two. it was a window into their possible lives in the future, after graduating school and settling down. graham felt comfortable and at peace with the love of his life for the first time in this house. it was a shame, he often thought, that it was happening at the end of everything. “you want wine with dinner?” he leaned against the counter as he stood beside her and leaned down to pepper her cheek with kisses, often breaking to see if any of the other python’s would interrupt. “you know, once upon a time in this kitchen you were complaining about not having any food and then we went out and almost died, do you remember?”

despite kaia’s attempts at repairing their friendship over the past few months, it seemed like trying to get close to teagan wasn’t enough. after the apology, she thought everything between them had been fixed and that they were back to normal again. but every time she tried to get closer to teagan, teagan would only push her away - as if their years friendship was nonexistent. although kaia was a straightforward person, she avoided a lot when it came to actually talking things out. but after months of putting up with it and failing with her other methods, talking was the only thing she could do now. standing in front of teagan’s door, she held a plethora of miscellaneous items she had scrapped together at the last second in an attempt to bribe her way back into the girl’s heart if all else failed. “teagan, open up ! i know i gave your boobs an 8/10, but you can’t always  avoid me !”

her expression was still fresh in his mind from dubai as she left him. the wave of disappointment mixed with a girl gone echoed in his mind like flashing images that wouldn't stop. he'd seen a similar face the day they broke up but graham has never truly seen that exact image on teagan before. he searched the house for her when they had returned back from the trip only to find her absent from her room and her usual loudness was also missing. he checked the fridge to see if she was alive, the hot pockets were missing so she had to be somewhere even if it wasn't the house. graham searched the perimeters, all around the house, the hut, the golf course and his last spot was the beach but she missing from all of the above. he traveled to the driveway to spot the car but it was there, it was teagan who was missing. he shuffled back into the house and headed to her bedroom where he started putting two and two together. her clothes were missing, she was missing; which was a given and her bed was left untouched. graham sat down upon it, tracing his fingers over the fabric of it as another image painted across his mind of himself lying together with her when things weren't so screwed. he fell back onto the bed and covered his face and released one long sigh before sitting back up to realize where she actually was. he quickly grabbed some snacks and water and once again traveled out of the house towards the woods. "teagan?" he called out. he gave himself a kick for that one, not like she'd answer. after stumbling over fallen sticks and avoiding any spiders, he found her tent but the resident absent. he knelt by the tent and pretended to knock, "teagan?" he called once again, "teags, can we talk..?" he set the snacks and water down and rubbed his hands together, "maybe you don't want to talk but i'm so sorry."

after days of preparation everything was finally ready and romina was more than excited to see teagan’s reaction to her gifts. she had been thrilled when she drew the other girl’s name, already having a good idea of what the girl liked and what she disliked. setting down the first present in front of teagan’s door with a note that read take this downstairs and follow the ribbon, romina moved into the living area to wait for teagan, anticipation making her tap her fingers against the second gift nestled between her hands. she had laid out the path of red ribbon early in the morning, praying one of the other pythons hadn’t accidentally ruined it. her fears were washed away when a familiar figure headed towards her, and romina’s face lit up into a warm smile. “ surprise ! i’m your secret santa. ”

kaia was sitting in front of belle surf cafe, a cup of flat white coffee on the table in front of her as she helped herself to the crepes during her late brunch with teagan. she sat across from teagan, happy that the two of them had been able to get out of the house for once and do something alone without the rest of the pythons. although they’ve been best friends since the second grade, many complications had seeped into their relationship after starting college. with their different schedules and the way life just seemed to naturally pull them apart, they had begun to stray away from each other and had gone through some rocky bumps around those first few years of college. despite them being close as ever today, she felt as if there were rare moments where she could actually spend time alone with teagan. “hey, can i have some of your crepes ?” kaia asked the girl after she had quickly finished her own. she didn’t wait for the girl’s answer, taking her fork and picking up a piece before popping it into her mouth. she watched as a limousine pulled up in front of them, peaking her interest as a chauffeur stepped out of the car. “damn, who the hell is riding in a limousine around here ?” she asked teagan, looking around them. after all, there wasn’t much around them besides other local restauraunts and stores. as the chauffeur walked up to them and got closer and closer to their table, kaia became more confused. “ms. cho and ms. cedano ?” he asked them, attempting to confirm their identities. "uh.. sorry, but what now ? i don’t think you’ve got—” kaia stopped mid-sentence when she caught the look on teagan’s face, as if telling her not to do it. she only responded to the girl with a puzzled expression of her own, what was she trying to do ?
