Do you have a favorite romantic relationship from each season?

Yoo it's been a while since I've been asked for my td thoughts :) I answered an ask this before that you can check here but I’ll provide additional info in this one.

TDI

I have to go with Duncney in this one, their dynamic is strong and their storyline is very well handled IMO, Gwent was a more long term and endgame couple for this season but the issue with them is that their relationship status always seemed to reset every episode regardless of how much development they got in individual episodes, so it felt like it wasn’t going anywhere when it should, they liked each other since ep 1 but by the start of ep 16 they were still at that exact same status. With Duncney though the development they get in an episode carries on to the next, making it all cohesive and neat :)

TDA

I don’t think I was a big fan of many canon couples this season, Duncney was very hit or miss, Gwent broke up, Bridgeoff was hitting constant bump in the roads. I’d say Lesharold but I’m not sure if they count given they weren’t an official couple, and I preferred them in TDWT even though they had less screen time there. So I guess that really leaves us with Nizzy, but again I prefer them in TDI and TDWT. Guess TDA just isn’t my season.

TDWT

Aleheather my beloved, we love an enemies to lovers and a WT Heather W (Heather’s win is canon to me). While I admit the writing wasn’t perfect when it came to consistency, one episode Alejandro flirts with Heather to tease her while another he doesn’t want people to think he like her, it’s our first properly well done endgame relationship in a season IMO. Seeing their constant complicated conflict is an absolute treat and it’s one of my favorite canon couples period.

TDROTI

Sometimes I wonder if I like Zoke because they’re cute or I can project so much onto them, that doesn’t matter though because my fave this season is Samkota! Dakota’s development learning to be less superficial in her judgement, learning to care for people, and finding someone in her life who not only actually likes her and cares for her as a person, but loves her? My heart <3 Sam starting out awkward messing up while trying to compliment her or finding things they have in common to being able to successfully swoon her is also adorable :)

TDAS

Unpopular opinion? I love Scottney, both how the season started presenting it as sorta like a Duncney 2.0 with Scott being the bad boy to Courtney’s uptight good girl, but also how they later go about it with Scott actually just being a mess with no experience in romance and Courtney somehow still being charmed by him despite knowing just how pathetic he is at trying to be romantic. It’s cute, it takes me back, I wish it last longer.

TDPI

Jashawn is considered the saving grace of Pahkitew by various people in the fandom, and while I enjoy the season more than your average td fan, I do admit it’s a highlight. They’re sweet and cute and it’s an a character screwing up and having to reevaluate their life viewpoints and priorities to be able to truly learn how to love someone and make up for their mistakes is a great development and one I don’t think we’ve seen before! The best we’ve seen the show handle couples having interpersonal conflicts I think.

TDIR

Rajbow is an obvious one here, like even if I didn’t love them what other couple was there? Chemma? Hah, no. But luckily I do love them! I’m glad TD’s first queer characters/couple are mlm, since in the earlier seasons the mere idea of queer dudes was the butt of a joke rather than actual representation, it feels like this is making up for that. Bowie’s confidence and smarts contrasting and bouncing of Raj’s himbo energy and his still discovering his sexuality is very nice to see and very enjoyable. I hope to see them develop this couple further next season :)

okay this is gonna be my general reaction post for episodes 2-4 of the reboot, so spoilers are UNDER. THE. CUT.

okay so one: I have never been more conflicted about a ship in my fucking life

this is ripaxel specific, because of course it is, what else would we be talking about here

on the one hand, no, not in a million years, what are the writers thinking, what insanity is this, I'm so confused and not in a good way at all

but on the OTHER hand...he did opt for using something she liked in a unique way to get her attention, and was like, mega cringefail about it but it still worked??? SHE liked it??? that's the important part.

so???? i'd have to see further how they progress with this before I decide, because oh god was the secondhand embarrassment horrifying during these past few episodes

now, two: caleb and priya

cute pairing! great potential. but GIRL IF I AM NOT FEARING FOR THAT GIRL'S EMOTIONS RIGHT NOW!!!! I CANT TELL IF HE'S LIKE GENUINELY LEADING HER ON FOR AN ALLIANCE OR JUST FUCKING STUPID AND DOESNT REALIZE SHE'S LIKE, INTO HIM INTO HIM!!! if he hurts her I'm suing, I'm going insane, he will be dead by dawn

three: rajbow + Wayne and the in-game cheating

again, never been so conflicted in my life, me and Bowie are twinning

on the one hand, I am SO glad he's like actually conflicted and doesn't like lying to Raj. Again, surpassing my expectations on behalf of the writers because I would've 100% expected them to make him lean into cheating without repercussions

on the other...Raj and Wayne being upset about cheating actually makes ME kinda upset despite how much I adore MK and Julia's antics!!! like!!!! the boys just want a fair fun game!!!!! how can you say no to those faces???? they're like puppies I stg

i AM relieved this is like, a cheating in the GAME plot and not a cheating in the RELATIONSHIP plot because that is ALSO a TD Taboo and I was afraid, they're still adorable and have an actual narrative, god bless

They are! And that doesn't change when I ship them with Julia. I don't see Julia as transmasc either. I do think Bowie is non-binary. Raj has no romantic or sexual attraction towards Julia whatsoever, but they still consider themselves in a relationship. They're all queer in their own ways. Wayne is there dating all three of them. The joy of polycules is that not everything is black and white in terms of their love for each other. You can love someone and deeply care for them as a partner without it being romantic/sexual. I don't think it needs a label, either.

And thank you! The TD style is fun to draw and adapt.

It feels so weird to see season 2’s boot order being such a mess since it was made right after they finished making season 1. Yet season 1’s boot order make more sense.

At the merge of season 1, Bowie have an alliance and a clear plan to get himself to the final 2 after he voted off his own allies.

Still season 2 focus too much on the romantic story line.

Sometime I do wonder if two groups of people are in charge of the season: One in charge of season 1 while the other one in charge of season 2.

rambles under the cut! (per usual)

s2 reboot really is a wild difference from s1 reboot! i actually grew to think the s1 elimination order is perfect the way it is; the stories we got were really good. (i think it's my fav season now. sorry world tour, nostalgia loses </3) even though i was bummed about some of my favs leaving so early, i also thought the characters who stayed were genuinely interesting and captivating. especially the final three! i lovedddd the final three!

and then the s2 elimination order... well i think that was a bit all over the place in comparison aha. a lot of that stems from my thoughts about too many actions happening off screen resulting in a lot of eliminations that felt so forced, but that romance plot was another bugger for me. (though there are probably others who didn't mind or even loved those aspects from this recent season. different tastes and all that) overall, i have a big love/hate relationship with s2 lol.

i think td is written with a bunch of ideas in mind, and since these characters were split into two seasons, it created a bit of chaos. no doubt the writing room is a bit like the fans on social media, wanting their favs to stay longer than others. (terry confirmed this in a tweet reply to me once :D) it's ultimately a collective agreement and s2 was just that: a collective agreement on what they thought the story would best look like.

So I’m thinking abt watching the new td season. I’m prob gonna split it into chunks bc it’ll be my reactions to all the episodes plus pre & post thoughts of the season, so if you wanna know my thoughts, just go to the 'total drama revival episode rambles' tag

Firstly, let’s start off with some pre-watching thoughts. These are just bullet points based on the trailers and promo pics I’ve seen. (I’ve only seen part of one trailer—I forgot which one—and some of the promo pics.)

I know most of the major details of the season bc of spoilers but I’ll try to pretend like I don’t lmao though there might be some occasions when I reference smth—I’ll put those in brackets ( [ ] ).

Now onto my thoughts!!

PRE-WATCHING THE TD SEASON:

PRIYAAA!!! [ A lot of ppl on here initially brushed her off as the Nice Girl, but I was with her from the frigging start and wanted her to go far in the season! ] As a desi female, I was so so happy to see desi rep AND her name is Priya!! It’s so pretty and ties into cultural heritage, and fgdgdgdgd I’d already hc her as bi fyi (yeah it could be me projecting on her, that’s okay. That’s f i n e. She seems like such a bisexual though)

Axel should be a lesbian. It’s what she deserves

Tbh I never rlly vibed with Ripper. Sure he seemed cool and ppl kept calling him the ‘nowen child’ but he’s pretty meh to me

I didn’t rlly try to guess who the gay couple would be ngl. But I lowkey wanted one half of it to be Chase bc it would’ve been so funny if the one person most ppl labeled as The Token Straight was n o t like imagine how many mouths that would’ve shut 😂

Chase & Zee would’ve been a v cute pair. Plus the shipname Chazee is adorable hhfgdgd if they don’t end up canon, it could be a good noncanon ship 🤷‍♀️

Julia and Nichelle would be so. amazing. together.

I think I’m the minority who believed that the Hockey Duo wouldn’t end up together. Idk they give off a bros/bromance vibe, and that’s it lmaooo

Bowie’s style is odd but funky—10/10, love it!! Def gives me gay vibes

Caleb seems like a Justin. Plus of c o u r s e his name is Caleb smh (no offense to ppl named Caleb)

Chase was only in the trailer for like less than five seconds but if anything happens to him, I’d kill everyone in the room and then myself. Idk man, he seems like Such A Guy, I just know he’ll be one of the ppl on the show I’ll be fixated on. Plus I love the name Chase.

[ I saw a post calling Chase a ‘boyfail’ and cryinggdgd lmao ] [ Chase overall seems to have mixed reactions among fans, so I’m gonna tread lightly around him. I just hope he doesn’t end up like Dave. I adored Dave when I started PI, but then…all that happened and he’s hated so much. Genuinely hope Chase doesn’t end up like that, pls pls pls I’m counting on you buddy. Don’t fuck it up *cue that one meme I know you guys are thinking abt* ]

Chase & Priya seems like such a popular ship. Ngl their dynamic interested me too-

I saw a post comparing Zee to Shaggy from Scooby-Doo and I’m like :0 fr though?? makes me love Zee even more!

So where exactly will this take place? Camp Wawanakwa?

Ole Miss takes their show on the road for the first time this season to face their first ever Pac-12 opponent, the Cal Golden Bears on Saturday night. The Rebels will travel over 2,100 miles for their first true test in 2017 after beating South Alabama and UT Martin in their first two games. Despite the 2-0 record, Ole Miss has some work to do if they hope to make to 3-0.

In the first two games, Ole Miss has been able to pull away due to explosive third quarters, but against teams in the thick of the Rebel schedule, it may be too late by the second half. Ole Miss trailed UT Martin at the end of the first quarter in week 2 and held only a slim 13-10 lead over South Alabama at halftime in week 1. Explosive third quarters were able to rescue the Rebels from disaster, but against Cal or in their upcoming games against Alabama and Auburn, they may not have that same luxury.

Ole Miss has scored 48 points in the third quarter this season, which is a polar opposite of the Rebel team which let large leads to FSU and Alabama slip away due to poor play coming out of the half. This week will give Ole Miss a chance to prove they can put it all together. Earlier this week, OC Phil Longo talked about the importance of a fast start moving forward.

“Total yards and production-wise we have been fine, but that doesn’t mean anything if you don’t finish the drive,” Longo said. “So, that was the emphasis at halftime in both games, and that will be the emphasis this week with the away trip. The focus is going to be on starting faster, no question.”

The good news for Longo and the Rebels is the production they have received from QB Shea Patterson and his explosive group of wide receivers. Patterson is second in the country with 918 passing yards, while his number one target, A.J. Brown, leads the nation in receiving yards with 389 along with 4 touchdowns. Damarkus Lodge has turned in 3 TDs on the young season, and D.K. Metcalf may be due for a breakout game. Jacob Peeler, Ole Miss’ WR coach came to Oxford after coaching at Cal, and his insight may be an edge for Ole Miss heading into Saturday.

“He probably won’t be able to give us much about their scheme, but certainly he can help us identify individuals who are capable of making explosive plays, tell us their strengths and weaknesses,” McGriff said.

The Rebel running game has gotten off to a slow start totaling just 156 yards through the first two weeks, but the air attack has more than made up for the deficiency. Senior Jordan Wilkins leads the team with 65 yards on the ground. Cal’s passing defense is ranked 119th in the country, so the Rebels may stick with the aerial attack this week. But with the Alabama matchup looming large after the bye week, the Rebels need to find a running game quickly.

On the defensive side of the ball, DC Wesley McGriff hopes to see a better tackling effort from his players. McGriff has been pleased with the energy in the first two weeks, but he needs to see more production, or there may be changes on the way in the rotation.

“Every position has to go out and perform to earn the right to start,” McGriff said. “Every position from the D-Line to the linebacker to the secondary all have their hand in the jar in terms of giving up to many yards in the run game…and you can throw me in there as well.”

Cal recently lost running back Tre Watson to a leg injury which will sideline him for the season. On Monday before the news was reported, McGriff called Watson “the best player on the offense.” While their feature back may have gone down, McGriff knows that the Rebels will have their hands full with the other Golden Bear playmakers.

“On the edge, they have two explosive receivers out wide,” McGriff said. “So we certainly have to pay attention to them, know where No. 8 (Demetris Robertson) is. They’ll give him the reverse; he’ll stretch the defense vertically. It’s certainly going to be a challenge for us. They’ll spread the ball, get as much grass as they can to get their playmakers the football. We’re going to have a big challenge of tackling in space, and also stopping the run game.”

Cal comes into Saturday’s game at 2-0 with wins over North Carolina and Webber. Cal has been able to score over 30 points in each of their first two games while allowing 20 points in each matchup. QB Ross Bowers is completing an efficient 67 percent of his passes but has also thrown 2 INTs. The Rebel defense has only come away with one turnover this season, so this could be the week to play aggressively in an effort to make game-changing plays in what could become a shootout. While Watson went down, the leading rusher for Cal, Patrick Laird is still active and ready to roll. Laird has totaled 200 yards through two games, and the Rebels currently rank 102nd in rush defense, so they have their work cut out for them in stopping the run game this week.

Injury update:

The Rebels get starting TE Dawson Knox back for the first time this season, and D.D. Bowie is expected to play after injuring his wrist in week 1.

Game Time/Where to Watch & Listen

Kick-off for Saturday’s game is set for 9:30 p.m. central time at California Memorial Stadium in Berkeley, California. The game will be televised on ESPN and can be heard on the Ole Miss Radio Network, OleMissSports.com and SiriusXM channel 83.
