It's easy to forget how genuinely terrifying the poppy war characters are. Rereading the books and then trying to imagine them all in your head as a tv show and it's like. What do you mean Chaghan's eyes were blank pools of nothingness that were too big for his face. What do you mean Daji's eyes go from a hypnotic angelic black to literal demon from hell in the span of a millisecond. What do you mean Jiang said "you're not supposed to be here" and then smiled like a lunatic. What do you mean Riga can make you relive your worst memories by simply touching your head. WHAT DO YOU MEAN Nezha parted the heavy rain so that only he could have a clear pathway. And what the fuck, WHAT THE FUCK KINDA HORRIFIC THINGS WERE ALTAN AND RIN UP TO.

sometimes i’m doing alright and then i remember that kitay probably isn’t as good of a person as we think. that he’s probably just as violent and jaded as the rest of the characters but he appears much kinder through rin’s eyes, because no matter how poorly she thinks of the rest of the world, she can never bring herself to distrust kitay
