Dawsonoceras is another cephalopod that swam the waters of Sillurian Gotland. They are an orthoceratid straight-shelled nautilid that floated in a vertical position on the water collumn.
Tumblr media
Although they are far smaller than some of the other orthocones and endoceratids that reached lengths of up to 5 meters, their shell is just as beautiful to behold.

Kröger, B. (2013). The cephalopods of the Boda Limestone, Late Ordovician, of Dalarna, Sweden. European Journal of Taxonomy, (41).
Tumblr media
Above specimens A,B, & E are dawsonoceratids, Scale bars: 10 mm.
From what I can gather, their adult shell diameter reaches 2.5 cm wide and it's hard to guess the total length because a lot of the shells are fragmentary. There seems to be one complete specimen online that was described to be 7.1" inches long
And another here that's 40 cm long, although it's an ID-guess from the blog poster

How threatening can ghosts actually be? That's the question that always frustrated Joe Cornish, a lover of spooky stories and horror films. "[A ghost] can make you jump or it can scare," the Attack the Block director tells Empire, "but in terms of actual physical threat, movies sometimes struggle." He mentions the possessed Reagan in The Exorcist, for example. "She can't actually do that much to you, other than terrify you."
In Lockwood and Co., however - a young adult supernatural thriller series of books by Jonathon Stroud - Cornish found a gamechanger. If you're touched by a ghost, you die. He was hooked. "Suddenly, you're in a new kind of ghost story," he enthuses, "where you can arm yourself against a ghost and use skill and intelligence and tactics to outsmart it."
Cornish's eight-part adaptation of the series begins with Lucy (Ruby Stokes), a gifted but unconfident teen who, after suffering ghost-inflicted trauma, joins independent start up Lockwood and Co., run by teenagers Anthony Lockwood (Cameron Chapman) and George Karim (Ali Hadji-Heshmati). The worldbuilding was another draw for Cornish, with the story set in the present, several decades after a ghost epidemic upended society. "The digital revolution never happened," he explains. "There are no mobile phones. There are still newspapers and magazines. Everything's stuck around the mid-'80s, and everything's still physical."
Then there's the ghosts' taxonomy. There are three types in the show: the weakest being type one, the strongest and most dangerous being type three. Each can be fought with different metals and elements. It was all too irresistible to Cornish, whose affinity with the supernatural charts way back to hearing scary stories from his family as a kid. "My uncle saw a UFO, my aunt saw a ghost," he recalls. If that wasn't enough, he remembers walking down to his local cinema in south London's Streatham to buy a magazine full of posters for Poltergeist. "It said on the back, 'One in five people will experience a poltergeist in their life,'" he says. "That scared the shit out of me. One in five? I thought if I escaped the poltergeist I'd get abducted by a UFO."
For Cornish, Lockwood & Co.'s retro setting was a way to channel his love of horror movies from way back when. "I saw all those great supernatural movies - The Exorcist, The Entity - when I was about nine. I just thought they were documentaries." Where the show differs is in its scarcity of jump-scares, instead finding new ways to amplify the thrill of the ghosts as they square off against Lucy and her partners. But don't expect the kind of comic creatures you'd find in Ghostbusters. These are some truly scary spectres, inspired by Victorian street photography and made to look like they belong to the natural world. In Lockwood and Co., you should be afraid of these ghosts.

This is a bit different from what I normally post, but my cousin Seth M. Sherwood is a screenwriter (The Devil In Me, Light As A Feather, and Hellfest) and currently on strike. As primarily a horror screenwriter he decided to pour his expertise and experience into creating a writing guide for scary movies. I have his permission to share The Scary Movie Writer's Guide here with you!
THE SCARY MOVIE WRITER’S GUIDE is a 100+ page step by step workbook that guides you to plan, plot, and write your own horror screenplay. It takes you through the entire process, starting with generating ideas and forming work habits, all the way through the process of making a detailed outline. Cook up plots, find themes, play with subgenres, decide on point of view and style, cook up characters and monsters— it’s called a WORK book for a reason... There are prompts, tests, charts, log forms, and DOZENS of worksheets to fill out in between breakdowns of everything that goes into constructing a horror movie from scratch. The book is expertly laid out and full of spooky illustrations to keep you inspired while you read. It’s designed to be written in, photocopied, folded up, and have pages ripped out— whatever it takes to get your ideas out of your head and into a script.
Please visit his website Scary Writer to purchase!
Also available on the website is his Monster Taxonomy poster. Seth's previous profession was a graphic artist and it shows in the formatting and visual creativity of both his works.
If you'd like to support my cousin while striking, please consider checking out his works for purchase!

A good attempt at a “unified taxonomy of text-based social media”. “The successful social media network is an aquarium. The influencers and posters are the denizens — jellyfish, filter feeders, sharks… The lurkers are the visitors…”

Hey, fellow autistic pokemon nerd! I don't know if you know, but there's this YouTuber named Bird Keeper Toby who's also really into pokemon biology and theoretical genetics. He even has a 'tree of life' poster showing how diff species might be connected. Hopps and Gnoggin does similar, really diving into the Pokemon's inspiration and background
I just saw your blog and thought you might be interested! (Sorry if you already know >.<)
Hello!
I do watch his stuff already, though my take on the Tree of Life deviates from his in fundamental ways, but I do find us agreeing on a lot (which makes sense, you give two taxonomy nerds the same set of data to work with, likely going to come to similar conclusions) and the differences root most commonly from the fact that he looks at final evolutions for placement, and I look at the entire evolutionary family and each stage having its own possible branching.
Ultimately though, Toby's stuff is great and well thought out, but he looks at the lore through the lens of the Pokemon universe, while I look at it through the lens of our world and how everything would fit into our world IRL. 🧐 And I have creative freedom to put "this is a misnomer/myth/no it don't" labels on anything that's too farfetched or doesn't add up even under the lens of magic, whimsy, and suspended disbelief

Villains are the Heroes: Tangled Web of Evil
Saturday June 11th 11.6 6.11 2022 162nd day of the year in the Gregorian calendar; 203 days remain. Waxing Gibbous Illumination: 87% Darkness: 13% the Moon is 11.35 days old.
Tumblr media
Did you ever notice that you are on the wrong team? Take a look and do an assessment. Are we being duped into being convinced to actually pray for your enemies because they seem nice, fair and pretty while the villains are portrayed as dark, mean, and begrudging MEANWHILE actually might be the good guys?
In the Tangled Franchise, if you perceive it like from a illness point of view, Corona is the evil kingdom. The King even admits it in the series, that he knows about the spikes in the old kingdom and covers it up. He even locked up his daughter to keep her from doing anything about it.
Tumblr media
There is something about the Kingdom of Corona being bad and that's why it has so many enemies. In ancient times the Saporians, Zan Tiri were trying to take down Corona. There must be a reason. King Fredrick ripped out the Sunflower so no one else could have it. At least Gothel left it in the ground for centuries. No spikes or chards destroying the lands would have happened if the King just took some of the petals.
Tumblr media
Haven't figured it all out yet, but why would the so called good guys be full of criminals and drunks and evil scientists? Even a sour faced character named Old Lady Crowley shares the name of self professed 666 Beast of Revelation sorcerer pedophile rapist Aleister Crowley.
But really this is just the tip of the iceberg or pyramid scheme planned for us to lose in the battle against the Covid-19ish virus/venom/(b)vaccine.
So how is the villain the good guy? Well the biggest force against the Kingdom of Corona is Zhan Tiri. The Saporians fought a good clean fight. Later generation separatist lead by Andrew who had "good hair," almost drew Cassandra into his fold early on or maybe she was still a part of their insurrection after all since she did take the moonstone in the end. His followers where Clementine,Kai, Juniper,
and Maisie. At a point an affiliation with Varian to take over the kingdom and erase the memories of Coronans with a green stone which proved to be an explosive.
Varian also was of use to Zhan Tiri in translating the chant. Zhan Tiri's minions include Sugracha reminds me of sugar and sriracha. Tromus/ Matthews sounds like Thrombus or Trauma. Mother Gothel and her daughter Cassandra who infiltrated Coronan security on the highest levels, are vital to the down fall of the kingdom.
Tumblr media
Mother Gothel is analagous to the Queen of Corona, Arianna, Mother of Rapunzel. Arian-ann Favored Arian race.
I am trying to glean some sense of hope in fighting the dis-eases, toxins, poison, social commands, taken hold of the globe. Some how answers are being stated in the lines of these animated beings. The villains hold the cures, remedies, solutions.
And the heroes are the ones who planned the whole charade. The monkey, Vigor who is the pet of Lord Demanitus (tomorrow) is giving us the clue of the joke on us. Vigor has Demanitus's spirit and takes silver coins from people along with Canardis which sounds like Con artist. And now we are in the Monkey Pox phase of the plan. The Clade X simulation of simian boils.
He uses weather as warfare along with technology to control the situation. He casts Zhan Tiri into a realm where DNA mutations reek havoc and morph the cast of characters.
Can't you see, if you took even an introduction to Biology that this show is about Taxonomy and Clade. The Realm, Kingdom, Clade, Species, Genus etc is the order of the classification system of all. This New order is based on genetic links to common ancestry.
But playing with the codes is blasphemy. The crypto codes are classified. Eu-gene is the good genes codes but they never get his picture right in the Flynn Rider wanted posters. He is Horace, perfect, like Horus. Also the Hor-ACE. The receptor site for regulating Blood Pressure. Cassandra is ACE2. Never wanting to be second, yet she is. And linked with Varian who is the variant of the spike proteins who attach to the walls of the vessels by fear and trauma (stress). He mutates creating new and better ways to adhere to the walls of Corona and into the cell. That's why he goes to jail cell and effects the DNA in the nucleus. Eugene is always in and out of jail with Lance growing up. He can easily pick the locks and make the get away. He thought he was an orphan but is actually the lost prince of the Dark Kingdom.
For now, I will end this rant. But take heed to the side and loyalties. Don't be fooled.

My Teaching Pedagogy Assignment
As a teacher, if I could make my own teaching method, I would like to emphasize an anti-anxiety environment. In an English language classroom I can imagine that it can be rather high anxiety since there is a lot of public speaking involved, and making mistakes in another language can sometimes feel like the end of the world for students. As such, I would like to make the parts of the classroom that I can control as anxiety-reducing as possible. This would include using some of the Desuggestopedia pedagogy to reduce the stimulation of the environment, creating a routine, using informal assessments, and incorporating the students’ interests in class (Herrel & Jordan, 2020a).
I would also like to emphasize teacher-student and student-student interaction. Throughout this certification I have learned that children learn differently based on their culture (which heavily affects their worldview). As such, I would like to get to know the students in any capacity that I can as to adjust my lesson plans in a way that would most benefit them and reduce their anxiety.
Furthermore, I would want to maximize student-student interaction since I feel like the easiest way to make friends is through classes/school. Creating a support system in class is really important and I hope that students will be able to branch out and meet people that can become their lifelong companions. Although I do understand that students tend to create cliques, hence I believe it’s extraordinarily important to emphasize teacher made groups so that no one is left out.
I would also like to incorporate leveled questions in my curriculum (Herrel & Jordan, 2020c). All students learn differently, and I think it’s so important to incorporate a multitude of different leveled questions and informal assessments/check-ins to assess the student’s levels before moving onto the next subject, or provide extra help for those who are behind.
I hope that through this teaching method I can create a class in which students are happy coming to class, feel comfortable being in class, and are therefore  able to unlock their full potential.
Techniques Included in my Method:
Repetition and “Drilling”
Assignments/”homework” that can be finished in class - eliminate the need to do work outside of class as much as possible.
Comfortable Environment (provide pillows, blankets, stuffed toys, ambient light)
Colorful Posters that include the student’s interests (students can also donate posters/drawings/etc. that they’d like to put up).
Use of group roleplay (creating scripts together and acting out situations)
one on one meetings (during class for younger children, extra credit during lunch for older children) - learning about each student’s situation as an individual. In a bigger class or shorter length class, a story or short answer essay about their circumstances would suffice.
Use of music for memorization
Use of popular culture media (i.e “Bluey” for children)
Incorporating native languages by using translation apps for learning vocabulary
Incorporating bilingualism (reading bilingual books, encouraging use of multiple languages, labeling classroom objects using different languages) (Herrel & Jordan, 2020d)
use of read aloud plus of transcripts before showing a video (priming the students with vocabulary they may not know before having them read aloud) (Herrel & Jordan, 2020b)
use of Bloom’s Taxonomy when interacting with media and readings to facilitate higher order thinking.
Use of communication games (i.e information sharing to create origami) to engage students (Herrel & Jordan, 2020e).
High amount of praise and encouragement
Reinforcing that mistakes are good, encouraging mistakes
Creating a space for specific tasks, creating a routine

Pre-schoolers based on blooms taxonomy can analyze? Evaluate? Create? Not possible right? or maybe rare but not catalyse by the teachers. If imagination that will procures a discovery happens, probably rare. They just copy family sticks, house and fruits.
ORDER OF THINKING. Thought process not skills.
I also realize that Drawing or illustrating is not create. Not unless it is conceptual like poster making or slogan making. We are so into measuring the skill but for selling painters, abstract is included. You know, not really of highest ability but accepted. If a teacher would ask everyone to draw a house. All will do. Some will draw excellently, more impressive than others. But is it thinking? They just follow what the teacher said. Its understanding. Then remembering techniques. This is skill. NOT THOUGHT PROCESS. It will go as far as applied. It can be similar to copying right? Not all writers create. Some just copy.
Facilitator of learning is the main source of knowledge, right? If students don't know what to do, they will ask the facilitator.
