SONIC PRIME: MEGA MIX

Last Christmas, I made what some would call a Sonic Prime "fan edit." I didn't set out to make one, but it all began when I experimented with a few glitch apps on my iPhone while listening to my Spotify techno mix and using some Sonic footage stored on my phone. Before I knew it, I'd fallen down a rabbit hole, and it quickly developed into a full-on music video.

I've always listened to Techno, Industrial, EBM, or old-school gutter Punk whenever I would draw Sonic storyboards. It always sets the mood for drawing action scenes. One song in particular that always got the best drawings out of me was Expo 2000 by Kraftwerk (Orbital mix), so I set my edits to that one. The result is a Sonic Prime megamix music video encompassing all three seasons (just the highlights from episodes I got to direct/more or less) in under five minutes. It might be the best way to watch season three. 💣 😅

Hopes for a Tails series

With the new Knuckles series, I have new hope for a Tails series where Tails discoveries his own powers and purpose.

Knuckles has powers that are not in the Sonic franchise and the show showed that Knuckles had to discover his power like Sonic did at the end of the first Sonic movie. He also had to find out he now has a home. Both the Sonic movies and Knuckles series had these two characters grew and learn new things about themselves so it wouldn't be strange for Tails to do the same.

I will continue to hope that Tails will take center stage at some point.

Sonic Prime Scenario

So my mind went crazy with this scenario. Odds are it will never happen but I thought I would share it.

Nine and Shadow are the ones battling it out since Sonic can’t bring himself to fight Nine at full strength. Oh and the other variants are also there but are more spectators or where on the retrieval mission of the shards. Either way Nine very quickly overpowers Shadow forcing Sonic to join the battle.

During the battle Nine’s mechanical tails will eventually be destroyed. This causes Nine to mentally break down. He just stops fighting. He noticeably shows fear and it grows when he actually sees the angry or sad expressions of all the variants.

Shadow goes in to finally finish him off, with the other variants wanting to give Nine a piece of their minds too, which really scares Nine since they now remind him of the bullies from when he was young. He tries to run but has nowhere to run too. As everyone gets closer Nine yells “NO!” with fear since he was worried he was going to get hurt again.

Sonic sees the fear in Nine’s eyes so he gets in between him and the others. He defends him saying that Nine has gone through enough already but the others are not convinced. Except for the Tails variants who walk over to Nine to see if he was alright. Sails actually asked Nine if he was alright and Mangey kind of looked at Nine with worry.

Nine is hostile to them though since they were happier then he ever was. Because of this they reveal that Sails originally was alone as well. He was adrift at sea with no one willing to help him. Anyone who did find him teased him or rejected him. Eventually Dread’s crew found him and with his mechanical knowledge they took him in and slowly they became friends.

Meanwhile Prim explains that Mangey was alone in the woods when they found him. They fed him and Mangey just started following them and eventually they grew to accept him too.

Nine was stunned but still argues that he was alone and would always be alone. Rebel and Knucks actually feel bad for him but said nothing.

Sonic then goes up to Nine and apologizes. He was sorry for viewing Nine and Tails, for not thinking ahead on what would happen to him, and for hurting him. But then he corrected Nine and one thing he said before and that was that Sonic did and always will count Nine as a real friend. He explained they all may be different to his friends in Green Hills but at the end of the day they are his real friends and he never doubted that.

However, just when Nine was about to agree to put the shards back together the Chaos Council appeared in a huge last resort robot followed by an army of robots and they were very angry. They attack everyone and capture nine but this time it was not to work with him or have him figure out the shards farther. Instead they became aware that Nine is the ONLY one who can put the shards back together and they do not want that, so they capture him to destroy him for good, solidifying their rule over the shatter space with no one to stop them. To make matters worse Nine can not fight back since his mechanical tails are now destroyed.

Sonic and all the variants began attacking the council to stop them. This does little to help though since the council has a firm grip on Nine and they are practically crushing him. The variants and Sonic were having no luck with the council and all the robots so Sonic does something risky.

He goes to the shards and tries to absorb their power himself. Nine sees this and tries to yell at Sonic to not do it but it was not effective since he was so out of breath.

Sonic, not caring what happens, gets to the shards and begins absorbing the energy. He has a hard time doing so but with the thoughts of saving his friends he succeeds much to everyone's surprise.

He attacks full force on the council causing them to drop Nine. Sonic continues to fight while the variants go to check if Nine was alright. He was fine but was very weak. So while the variants protected him, Sonic fights the council. Nine is surprised that they are protecting him after everything he did and finally understands that he does have friends and that Sonic was telling the truth.

Sonic eventually defeats the council and when he goes to check on Nine they have a real heart-to-heart. Nine regrets his actions and even breaks down crying. Sonic comforts him till he calms down and Nine agrees to put the shards back together.

Hello hello! Been a while since I've posted my art on tumblr, (though I HAVE still been lurking the whole time) so I figure I'll start by posting some of the sonic covers I like the most from the main ongoing comic series! I've been pushing my character proportions to feel more like the rubbery sa1 proportions for the past year and a half, so lately I've been more satisfied with how I'm drawing everyone.
