Simblr Community Challenge

I was tagged in this challenge by someone ages ago (I’m so sorry, I can’t remember who!).  At the time I was super busy and thought I’ll get back to it... then Tumblr ate the notification!  Anyway, better late than never!

How long have you been playing the Sims?

Since late 2006.  I had been living in North America for four years and returned home to Australia after my boyfriend died.  I was initially looking for some escapism, and absolutely fell in love.  I remember the first Sim with custom hair and eyes I downloaded from the Exchange... purple eyes and a Peggy hair... I thought it was so beautiful!  Thankfully, I discovered the S2C and then LJ and people like Linuslover (Sixamsims), Beeps, W, Petchy, Nimi, Anna and PennySims among others and my style changed to more Maxis Match.  Then I went through a more grungy phase.  I had a break from TS2 for several years, then reinstalled the game in 2015, which is when I discovered PBK and all the amazing content Sunni & Frac were starting to release under the Sun & Moon banner and fell down the medieval rabbit hole.  I took another small hiatus in 2016, then came back with a vengeance in 2017.

How long have you been a Simblr, and why did you become one?

My first post to my Simblr was on October 26, 2015.  I think I set it up purely as I had realised most of the community had moved to Tumblr from Livejournal and Dreamwidth.

What type of Simblr are you?

Gameplay.  I’d love to actually write stories, but don’t know if I have it in me!

Which generation of Sims do you primarily play?

TS2! I came into the series around the time Pets was released, and bought every single EP & SP.  I’ve never played TS1.  I did buy a lot of the EP’s and SP’s for TS3, but I hated the way the Sims looked, CAS did my head in and I found it difficult managing the open world with story progression.  I did download the TS4 trial, but played for maybe 5 minutes before I uninstalled it.

I’m not going to tag anyone, as I’m aware this went around a while ago and most people have done it.  But if you haven’t done it and want to, please do!  I love hearing about other people!

My best friend - My best friend and I met in middle school and have been close ever since, we’ve been though a lot together and I’m surprised she’s put up with me for so long.

My favorite movie - I have a LOT of favorite movies so this is a bit hard but I think if I really have to pick… hmm, I’m not sure I can answer that. :c

Tattoo’s/Piercings - I have no tattoos and while I still have holes in my ears I never wear anything in them. And I’m not gonna add or change that because it’s just a hassle to deal with. :/

What I want to be - Since middle school I’ve had it pegged for arts and design but I’m unconfident in my work and haven’t really did much to push for that sort of career. It doesn’t help none of my family considers it a realy job and I’m constantly being pushed to take up some political position or government job.

Relationship with my parents - What relationship there is, isn’t good. My mom and I don’t get along most of the time, and admittedly when I was younger we fought constantly and couldn’t be left alone without yelling or fighting. Since I’m obviously too old to get in those kind of situations now I try and avoid conflicts with her. And then my dad, we’re both similar but on the opposite end of the chain. He’s constantly coming off as misogynistic whenever he talks about ANY woman. It offends me and we argue a lot. He’s probably one of the only people who can make me cry without even trying just by the words he says. Don’t get me wrong, I love my parents and we CAN get along, but most of the time we can’t.

An insecurity - I have so many to chose from but I think one of my biggest is flat out being insecure about myself as a whole. I’m afraid of how I come off to people which in turn causes me to pull away from others. I’m trying to fix that, so I can try and make friends, but it’s a rather big hurdle to jump. :c

Age I’m often mistaken for - Usually between 14 and 16. A lot of people look at me funny when I tell them I’m actually 2021.

College? - I want to eventually, but we’ve got a lot of financial problems already and I know if I went now I’d have to ask my family for help which is something I’d feel really shitty for doing considering they’ve put up with me for 21 years already. Not to mention I feel like if I went now I’d just flake out with how badly I work in social situtions and knowing absolutely no one walking into it.
