Often the outdoor entrance to the kitchen is neglected, but the designer of this home saw an opportunity to enhance the total aesthetic impact of the kitchen. This view perfectly balances line, shape, and color. The glass overhang parallels the angle of the interior stairway.
I stumbled into Phantom of the Opera quite by accident around 2000 or so. My sister had the cast album from the musical, and I went predictably gaga over the chord progressions. That, and marvelous vocals. I discovered that the stage presentation was based on a book, and that, in fact, there had been a dedicated fandom built around the character for years. I stayed in that tangle for quite some time, made some art, and then got distracted by the next new, shiny thing a decade later. Meanwhile, this was my big artistic effort and the only fully finished thing I ever did for PotO. It was done in 2005, so there's some of the 2003 movie's influence in the character design.
I made this with Prismacolor pencils and paint pen over an ink/acrylic/salt wash.
