Judging by Tumblr Book Club's (VERY valid) reaction to this week's The Beetle, we all would have been so inconsolable if Jack Seward had given in to his morbid curiosity and let Renfield have a cat

My senses left me. Even as they went I was conscious of exclaiming,—remembering the saying about the engineer being hoist by his own petard,

Just starting this week's The Beetle entry, and did this rancid man really just scream out his own invention like it's a goddamn Pokemon attack

Ugh why is EVERY scene in this part of The Beetle just people gathering in Sydney's death lab and having tedious conversations

-looks around- ok it's an obscene hour of the night which means posting nonsense hour

... I kind of wish I had thought to submit The Beetle!! to the Corruption bracket of fear. (Though I would rather have made a case for Sydney Atherton somehow. Except I also don't want him to have any recognition at all.)
