9 people you'd like to get to know better
Tagged by @sullustangin (thank you so much for tagging me! I'm flattered)
3 ships
Canon ship: Hiccup and Astrid from HTTYD. I re-watched all the movies recently and naaaah they're still so goals.
OC Ship: Maverik'a and Theron from SWTOR (I don't talk about them a lot but they're my roman empire)
Ship of the week: Ballister and Ambrosius from the animated movie Nimona! Saw it was nominated for an Oscar so I finally decided to watch it and omg they're so AAARGH and the movie is SOOOO metal 🤘
First ship
The only one I can remember is Rose and Scorpius from Harry Potter lol. I was obsessed with them when I was like 12, I even made like a story with like the next gen kids (before the Cursed Child released). Then I paired up Albus with an OC and they became my favorite ship instead LMAO. I'm not that into the fandom anymore but I do still think about them sometimes. (Also to be clear I do not support J.K Rowling AT ALL, even created a metamorphmagus trans lady as a teacher in my story to piss her off lol)
Last song
Empire Ants by Gorillaz! I'm a massive fan of Gorillaz, Blur, anything that is Damon Albarn.
Currently reading
Comic book series Fables! Just finished vol. 14 today. Only 57 issues to finish the original run lol. The Telltale video game The Wolf Among Us is based on these comics if you were curious! (that's what got me into comics, now I work at a comic book store LMAO)
Last film
Decided to watch The Mitchells VS The Machines again (yes recently I've only been watching A LOT of animated movies fjhjksshjfk) and it's such a great movie. I totally had forgotten about the Furby scene (don't ask) and I almost cried of laughter.
Currently craving
I actually don't crave anything at the moment, I got sick with my sinuses last week and idk, it poofed away my cravings LMAO.
I think I never opened up this like this on my blog before soooo enjoy!
Tagging
@serenofroses @dirthara-dalen @nekorinnie @lanabenikosdoormat @stratataisen @jukkariart @eorzeashan @magicallulu7 @rubensmuse no pressure tags, hope someone didn't tag you yet hihi

I’m coming to the realization that The Matrix as a franchise & fictional playground is to me what Star Wars is to so many other people. I like Star Wars but the world & themes in The Matrix speak to me so much more deeply. And this is despite only truly unreservedly loving The Matrix (1999) & The Animatrix.
Star Wars fans are treated with so many incredible franchise projects like Visions & The Mandalorian, the varied & more often than not terrific games (SWTOR, Squadrons, Jedi Survivor etc.) & the deluge of original novels, short story collections, TTRPGs & comics is the tier of cultural status & ubiquity The Matrix franchise deserves as well. It’s such a rich source of fiction potential that doesn’t get earnestly capitalized on outside of the efforts of the Wachowski Sisters & not since the early ‘00s sadly.

wait but I wanna know why Theron's your least favorite :D explanation? (positive connotation i prommy)
Well it all started as a journey. It's a long journey, for sure, of a varying opinion change over the years of playing the game, from forces inside the game and outside the game. But I am not one to post things negatively about other people's favs out in the open so readmore it is
So we begin this journey as a wide eyed newbie player just figuring out what I wanted my legacy to be with my first knight, Leeloa. A friend was playing along with me, and I really enjoyed the Doc romance because I am definitely a fan of the 'player gets played by his own game and catches feelings' trope. Well, I get to SOR and mention to friend that I think Theron's fun and she tells me to ditch Doc because she didn't like him and thought Leeloa could do better.
I ended up remaking Leeloa because I listened then did not like that course, because it just didn't fit Leeloa. So honestly, I did like him when I first started.
But then writing happens, and it felt like he...Never developed past the whole "reckless, I do things when I do them" kind of persona, especially with the betrayal. And the more I delved into information on SWTOR, it just...Bothered me. He's descended from the hero of the original games, but oh no not force sensitive, but he's a great spy so amazing.
Why?? Because he had some Jedi training because it was expected for him to be force sensitive but oh no he WASN'T what a shock...
Except that...Doesn't really track with the Jedi and, everyone hates me, but the test for the midichlorians. They would know, they wouldn't just assume because his mom was Satele.
And somehow, despite acting in the most unspy like ways, he's a great spy. I don't know why anyone would have the Grand Master of the Jedi Council's son as a spy because that is just a huge liability.
I'll admit I haven't read the extra material because I just think it's...Kind of silly to have content outside of a video game beyond, say, a short story or a short comic.
There's just a lot of his story that if you look at it closer and in the grand scheme of Star Wars, is just absolutely ridiculous and maybe, a bit more Gary Stu than Luke.
Now then, to the writing and how he was treated in expacs. (This area is a place where Lana is also on thin fuckin ice.) The absolute favoritism shown to him by the devs drove me crazy. It started to weed away at my liking him and move me more into the exasperated/tired/neutral about him. You have this whole giant alliance, but the focus being on him and Lana so much was just annoying, especially considering it was Koth who helped the Outlander escape in the beginning chapters and how he got pushed aside. It didn't narratively feel...Cohesive and just a 'Look at the Sh*n kid go!'
The nail in the coffin is how the fandom acts about how he's a golden boy, how he gets fawned over, and honestly?? I just hate liking those characters for personal reasons. It always seems like people ignore what we're given about the character and expanding on it and, instead, ignore it and write an entirely different personality with the face they think is cute. I am huge on consistency, it's my style of writing, my preferred style of reading (thanks literary analysis class in college you ruined me), so fandom just fucked me over from liking him and while he's still friends with my knight, I try my hardest to ignore fandom with him, do my best to try to enjoy him, because I do intend to run all the game romances for gif making purposes.
Also he's really written as playersexual if you play a light side character and some conversations felt awkward like the devs were expecting you to have romanced him.

List 5 things that make you happy, then put this in the askbox for the last 10 people who liked or reblogged something from you! Get to know your mutuals and followers. 💜 (no pressure, of course!)
Wow I literally never get asks on here, but I have so many things I could talk about.
1. Star wars especially SWTOR and the bad batch currently. I definitely come on tumblr to find other people who like star wars so I don't feel so alone all the time. Looking at art and fan theories makes me feel less crazy about my 300000 theories.
2. Music. I cannot live without music. I will listen to almost anything except country.
3. Sims 2. No comment, it's just the best game of the series regarding story. Argue with the wall.
4. My kpop girlies. All of them. I literally don't have any favorites. I want chaeryeong to put a ring on my finger and marry me.
5. Avatar the last Airbender. I literally have no life and own almost all of the comics of the series. I also know so much of the lore. I am slowly getting into Korra as well honestly.
I have my loved ones and my faith, but is my tumblr dedicated to that????? No.

On SWTOR and canon
So the Star Wars Celebration was this past weekend. SWTOR was there, sort of. They sent in a few of the writers and devs - conspicuously, the devs who were NOT responsible for the horrifying overhaul to the game and the discord drama - but they didn't have a table or cantina. They had to hang out at the Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes table and had no fanfare, no signs, nothing.
It's sad. It's really, really sad that for the tenth anniversary, this is where it is. But I think EA and Disney have given up on this game entirely. I think they knew that if they had a cantina they'd likely be fielding a lot of comments from angry fans. But I also think they didn't get the funding to do a cantina, and I don't think they had exciting plans for the future they could share.
One thing that was brought up on the official forum is that SWTOR is the last bastion of Legends, and that Disney likely would like to make that go away. We know they are willing to discard literal decades worth of comics and novels - they did that with the EU established with Mara Jade, the Solo kids and the New Jedi Order. They just threw every bit of it away. Given that, I think they'd have little trouble throwing away SWTOR, even though it's ten years old.
I think Disney is focusing on things like the Mandalorian, Doctor Aphra in the post-A New Hope era and Kenobi before the Battle of Yavin for a really good reason: they know the post-RoTJ stuff they've done has not been well received. They wasted the EU and its rich characters; they wasted the talented actors who appeared in the sequels; they wasted characters who frankly could have been amazing, like Finn, Rey, Rose and Poe; they wasted cute characters like BB-8 and the porgs; and they wasted the potential for great new relationships, like Finn/Poe/ They threw every bit of it away.
But they are still fucking with old properties, and KOTOR is supposedly getting a remake that will likely be Disney canon. From there...will SWTOR be up next? I hope not with every fiber of my being. +
I don't accept the Disney canon post RotJ.
In this house, crystals are not bled. There's no such fucking thing. They're attuned, and the red ones are synthetic and a little more unstable.
In this house grey areas of the Force are entirely possible and exist.
In this house, Luke married Mara Jade and had a son and a New Jedi Order that worked.
In this house, Han and Leia had three kids and a granddaughter and a hell of a different life from the sequels.
In this house, I don't want Disney's Star Wars to touch the SWTOR universe. Even if they taint KOTOR, please, for God's sake, stay away from SWTOR. Please. I'm begging you, Disney. Frankly I hope they will do what they did to the extensive, awesome extended universe: ignore it and walk the other way, because if they touch it it will not be good.
Given the multiple different pathways characters in SWTOR can take, it would be plausible not to touch it. For real. They could be smart enough to crib from Final Fantasy XIV's reboot: "oh, the Sith Warriors and Jedi Consulars were there, so many warriors, but the records were all destroyed and their faces and names aren't known now!" ;) Say it was a fever dream. Say it happened in an alternate universe. Anything but making Lana, Darth Marr, Satele and the other beloved characters into...whatever they did in the sequels.

Last song I listened to:  Suicide, You and I - Glass Apple Bonzai
Last show I watched:  Last show I FINISHED was Batwheels.  It’s sooo cute and the animation is lovely.
Last movie I saw: Son of Batman, a rewatch with my sister.  We riff on it a little but overall its fun.
Currently watching:  This is a rare case of me actually watching something, lol.  I am slowly working on Batman the Animated Series.  I’m alllllmost done with season 1, which is like, 65 episodes because of how syndication worked back then.  No other season is that long.  I’ve never actually watched it, so it’s a nice experience--the show is very impressive.
Currently reading: Various DC comics, The Lando Calrissian Adventures, and a few zines I have, one Dick Grayson Zine and one Miraculous Ladybug zine.  Technically I’m reading a few other things too, but they’re less active lol.
Current obsessions: Well, obviously, DC.  Specifically Batman atm even though I’m primarily a Superman fan, but if I want to play video games, I basically gotta funnel in the Batman content lol.  I would say I’m more interested in Robin than Batman, though.  Also, I’m ramping up my SWTOR time, so Star Wars is also getting some attention, mostly in the form of me playing my sniper.
Tagging:  @abysskeeper, @yoursupremeruler, @enterlameprofilename, and anyone else who has an interest in doing this :)

F & S for the fanfic ask game?
thanks for asking!
S: Any fandom tropes you can't resist?
I’ve stated previously that I do really enjoy trope inversions. Give me a trope to write, and I’ll spin it on its head.   Or try to in an amusing way (disclaimer: at least, amusing to me)
I also like “Everyone is the hero in their own story” -- every character perceives themselves as the main in their lives.  Not everyone knows the same secrets or has the same agendas....this is why I need a chart at times to keep track of who’s doing what where.
I also love competence in my characters; they’ve survived this long in the story as part of a team, so as inept as they may be perceived, they clearly got something going on.  I don’t like dumb characters or fodder characters.  I do love writing heists/capers where we have multiple moving parts and everyone has to be good at their job.  Sometimes, the least experienced person is the best at their job.  For example, Talos Drellik ends up being the MVP in a heist fic to acquire the holocron of Darth Nihilius; he’s not a criminal or a spy at ALL, but his competence in archaeology plus his connections in the field ultimately cause the op to be successful.
F: Share a snippet from one of your favourite dialogue scenes you've written and explain why you're proud of it.
In terms of my SWTOR stuff, there’s an exchange that occurs between Theron and Eva at least three times.  The first is during “Love in the Time of Technoplague,” then again in future fics dealing with the long term relationship they enter into, eventually.  In each appearance, they banter back and forth with each other, trading lines.
It’s still a gamble.
The opportunity.
The risk.
The test of skill.
The thrill of a little victory.
The rush of more as the games go on.
The danger of losing what little you have.
And then the big win.
It fits the dynamic of Eva as a gambler and as the Voidhound, but also Theron as a spy and agent of the Republic.  There are some risks that one has to take to win... and then there’s another layer on top when it comes to love for both of these people.  They are risky for each other.  She is a criminal, and Theron has some law enforcement authority, based on the comics; he can detain or arrest someone.  In turn, Theron has a professional reputation he’s risking due to her activities, not to mention what he turns a blind eye to. Then we have all the personal issues that make relationships difficult for them (which are essays I’ve written elsewhere, haha).
As challenging as it can be to write, I try to create dialogue where the two opponents are equally matched.  Everyone sees themselves as the hero in their own story, and that other guy is wrong and their logic sucks and they’re stupid.  It’s easy to write a one-sided argument where the hero is 100% correct.  I’m also a fan fic writer from a time when anything remotely approaching a self-insert/Mary Sue/Gary Stu was anathema, so I try not to make my OC characters ‘too powerful’ or ‘too correct’ all the time.  They lose arguments.   And my arguments tend to be long and loud, so ‘snippet’ probably isn’t the best word to describe the except below.  It’s from  “A Breach of Professional Boundaries” where Eva and Theron disagree about what Theron and his implants are allowed to do on her ship.
Placed below a cut due to length.  By this point, Eva has already thrown Theron off his game by flirting with him, and she’s leveraged their agreement to remind him that it’s supposed to go both ways -- now Theron wins a tilt:
“Right, business first.  Implants off.”
Theron studied her carefully.  “I won’t be as useful.”
“That’s part of the point.  I don’t want you to be too useful to the Republic right now.  Just me.”  Eva leaned against the ladder, an arm looped through it.  “I know you will turn the implants back on once we get to Port Nowhere to access the sound file you have.  Is there any way for you to avoid ‘going online?’  I don’t want some satellite to trace you there.”  She pursed her lips and waited for his response.
Something wasn’t sitting right here.  “The Republic already knows that Port Nowhere is mobile again.  That’s old news – people on the dark net couldn’t stop chatting about it. I’d look as if I was on a random slow-moving freighter in space, if they decided to check up on me.”
Eva was already shaking her head. “It’s other things that your implants would record that I don’t want getting back to Pub space.  People exist that shouldn’t.  My business operates in ways that I don’t think Pubs or Imps have considered.  My crew – I don’t want them at risk in the future.”
Theron mirrored her positioning, leaning on the ladder, one arm looped through it.  “Listen, we have made a partnership.  I admit, I didn’t initially think I’d be as useful to you as you were to me, but here we are.  This won’t get back to SIS.”
“You may be your own man, but your implants are SIS-issued.” She almost immediately changed her posture once she realized he was mirroring.  Interesting.   Now she leaned back against the wall, hands behind her.
Theron allowed himself a small bit of humor.  “Despite the stories, SIS agents don’t have self-destruct mechanisms that go off for disloyal or impure thoughts.  Especially the second one; I know one guy who would have dropped dead at graduation for eyeballing the Director’s ex-wife.”  He managed to get a ‘heh’ out of her.  “Seriously though, SIS can’t access my implants unless I let them.  I don’t plan on being conspicuous, so nobody will see Theron Shan there – they won’t have a reason to ask me.”
Eva remained stubborn.  “I’d still prefer it if you turned them off, as agreed.”
Theron remained equally as stubborn.  “How would you know if I even turned them off anyway?”   She frowned, and Theron found some dark pride in finally playing the role of the fox rather than the hound.  “Whether I turn them off or not, whether I spill my guts after I get back, whether I’m actually in this with Darok – it’s all a matter of trust.”
Eva’s anger simmered as she drew away from the wall to come closer to Theron.  “Port Nowhere is under my rule.  What happens to you there is completely in my hands.”
“Hell of a trump card.  But you’d only get to use it once.  Better make it count.”  Theron pulled his arm free from the ladder and straightened up to his full height.  “I trust you’ll make the right decision for you and your crew.  I assume my stuff is this way?”  He pointed down the narrow hallway, the only way one could go.

Olypica-Style SWTOR adopts
So with my last two polls wrapping up, I'll begin starting on the Star Wars adopts here shortly! However, I wanted to give yall a sneak peek on the themes/species I will be working with. A lot of the votes went towards wanting to see strange, rare Star Wars races, so I plan on incorporating those! Here are the general themes for the four adopts: Purple/Maroon Verlokadu Togruta Rogue Cyan/Grey/Seafoam Kubaz Sith Gold/Black Retired Tholothian Republic trooper Peacock Spider Harch Jedi Expect sketches for these fellas within the next week or so! They'll likely be halfbodies with a starting price of $15, with the whole event acting like a sort of auction. There will be two tiers of autobuys- where you get the character outright for an additional cost- one that'll be around 30-40$, and another that'll be an additional 10$ or so that will include a fully rendered Olypica-style portrait. Additionally, when purchased, you can opt for your character to appear on an official page of the Olypica comic! When the time comes, If you have ideas on how you’d like your character to appear, feel free to let me know. If not, I’ll do my best to ensure they’re included in a fun way! With this, however, keep in mind that I cannot guarantee when your character will appear, or in what manner. Their cameo may not be true to whatever fan-lore you come up with for them, so keep that in mind! Anyway, stay tuned for further updates!

Star Wars: The Old Republic - Is There Still a Player Base?
The Star Wars franchise has seen its fair share ups and downs. Star Wars: The Old Republic is the most loved game in the series with one million players. This is more than any other game in the franchise. The game includes companions as well as two principal factions. However the Skywalker series is not the most popular. This article will explain the reasons The Old Republic might be struggling, and how fans can get their hands on the most recent version of the game. Star Wars: The Old Republic has 1 million active players The Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWTOR) game has reached one million active players. This is more than the monthly subscriptions to play the game. In the final quarter of 2011, there were more than 1 million active players in SWTOR. In a recent interview, BioWare said that it included 57 million characters, over 239 million hours gaming, 27,000 years of game time and 148 billion credits played. The SWTOR trial version is free and includes all playable content up to the level 20 mark as well as access to the game's in-game playtime. Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has the lowest number of concurrent players The most recent Lego game has blown away the Steam concurrent player record. It was launched on April 5th. Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga already has the highest player count of any Lego game to date. It has already surpassed the record player count for Lego Marvel Super Heroes. Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is now the second most downloaded game on Steam. It has overtaken Jedi: Fallen Order which had 5,953 players at its peak. Star Wars: The Old Republic has two principal factions When Star Wars: The Old Republic first launched in 2011 it was a game with an additional faction called the Eternal Empire. Recent expansions have brought back the battleground of Empire vs. Republic. The battle continues on Manaan, the planet. Manaan, the next expansion, Legacy of the Sith will raise the level cap by five and introduce new actions and Flash Points. In addition, it will enhance character customization and class design. Star Wars: The Old Republic comes with a companion There are plenty of reasons to use your friends in Star Wars: The Old Republic. Whether you're looking for an ally with whom you can trust to help you out in battle, or need a friend to spend time with, there are many ways to make use of these characters. Apart from providing numerous benefits, your friends can be a fun and fascinating part of the game. Star Wars: The Old Republic includes a tunnel shooter Star Wars: The Old Republic has a lot of space combat, so you could be pleasantly surprised when you embark on a journey across the galaxy. It features an unique system that allows players to interact with other ships and to move their ships. There are also the ability to rotate missions and objectives, as well as ship cosmetics that are able to be changed according to the mission and difficulty. The game is worth the money if you enjoy space combat. Star Wars has a canon conflict It is often difficult to tell which stories from Star Wars are canon, or aren't. Fortunately, there isn't conflict like this in comic books and video games. However when it comes to television shows, there are a few that are canon, while others are not. Here are some examples of canon sources. Here are the most important works of the Star Wars franchise. While they aren't directly connected to the films, they are significant to the canon discussion. Who’s Your Daddy?:  Tasiele Shan and Her Lover(?)
Tumblr media
Does Satele look more like her father?  Or her mother, Tasiele Shan?
The relationship between Jace Malcom and Satele Shan is pretty epic:  two great leaders of the Republic, the future Supreme Commander and the future Grand Master of the Jedi Order.  Their son, Theron, is an obvious SWTOR fan favorite and a hero in his own right (though as a spy, his accomplishments can’t be as publicly acknowledged).  Theron did not know who his father was until he was 26 years old, nor did he speak to his mother openly as her son until that age.  This makes for complex, adult connections.
One thing that several people in fandom have discussed is Satele’s decision not to tell Theron about Jace or Jace about Theron.  While I was ruminating over the question, I came across the point that Satele likely didn’t know who her father was.  Satele had gone through life without a father; if you’ve never had it, how can you miss it? Jedi!Theron wouldn’t have the worst life if he didn’t know who his father was... but then he turned out to be not Force Sensitive, and there went all of Satele’s well-intended plans.
There are a lot of unknowns about Tasiele Shan, Satele’s mother.  Nothing is known about her father.  Tasiele first appeared in a sentence on Satele’s Holonet entry, coded in Aurbesh: ‘Jedi exiled her mother.’  In the SWTOR encyclopedia, it was revealed that Tasiele was a philosophical revolutionary who advocated for attachments among the Jedi.  (Yes, in our world’s psychological sense, they do have positive attachments to those in the order, in the Galaxy, and at Temple; ‘attachments’ in the negative sense for the Jedi run along Buddhist lines, per George Lucas himself.  Attachments lead to desire, which leads to suffering, which leads to the Dark Side, in a nutshell.)  These teachings were disruptive enough that Tasiele was indeed exiled.  When the Jedi went to retrieve her from the remote planet she’d been left on, Tasiele was gone, leaving her writings to Satele, who is describe as still “young.”  I’ve speculated in my fics about how all that went down, but there’s no canon consensus.
So what do we know?
Satele was born on Brentaal IV.  Brentaal IV in Legends is a commerce-driven planet.  It is an intergalactic marketplace, sitting at the crossroads of two major trading routes, the Perlemian Trade Route and the Hydian Way (which was still being created when Satele was born in 3699 BBY; it was complete in 3694).  As a result, the Brentaal system has become increasingly war-torn, as it is highly desirable for both the Republic and the Empire.  At the time of Satele’s birth, however, the Sith Empire was about 18 years from returning, so the planet was at peace and thriving, the Hydian Way being established right nearby.
Based on what we see in comics and mentioned in Legends novels, Brentaal IV  was an active, bright planet with lots of entertainment and a grand variety of products.  As a crossroads between two trading routes, if a person had the money, no desire could be left unfilled.  Based on the description on Wookieepedia, I’m personally viewing this as almost a space Renaissance Venice; those with money run the government, and unhappy citizens make for bad sales -- the government still needs to keep the people happy.  The buildings tend to be bland because of corporate interests, but then people insist upon trees and organic features in their environments.
That’s where Satele was born.  That doesn’t mean it’s where Tasiele met Satele’s father or became pregnant.
Briefly, I considered whether Tasiele might have done Revan’s tradition of found family:  whether with the Exile or Malak or with the crew of the Ebon Hawk, Revan created his family not by blood but by choice of association.  Who says Tasiele didn’t adopt a baby girl, and then only later discovered that this child was Force-Sensitive?
Revan, that’s who.  In Shadow of Revan, he identifies Satele and Theron as his bloodline; their biological connection enabled him to watch over them and their forebears for centuries while the Emperor’s prisoner.  So as intriguing as the adoption angle is, Revan puts the kabosh on it.
Tasiele wrote about attachments in a positive way, but we don’t know what sort of experience Tasiele has had with them. We know Tasiele named Satele.  However, beyond that, there is nothing explicitly said about the nature of their mother/daughter relationship.  Depending on Satele’s age when her mother was exiled, she could have already been at the Temple; Satele was found to be Force Sensitive early, so her education as a Jedi may have started very early.  Alternatively, she might have been removed from her mother’s custody if she was under a certain age or if Tasiele objected to her child being parted from her, based upon their attachments.  Again, Tasiele’s ‘revolutionary’ stance adds a lot of baggage and complication to how we try to read the relationship -- if there was one.  If Satele and Tasiele were close before Tasiele’s exile, then maybe all of Tasiele’s writings were rooted in her attachment to her daughter and how the daughter thrived.
That leaves the obvious biological question of how Tasiele became pregnant.  Star Wars takes place long, long ago, in a galaxy far, far away.  Most writers in Star Wars are mute about getting pregnant and how not to get pregnant; it’s only recently that we have canon evidence that women menstruate in SW universe (a good Padme novel).  Likewise, there’s not much about birth control other than “taking precautions.”  Could Tasiele have just gone to a clinic and picked a specimen that had potential (assuming we have sperm donors in the Old Republic)?  Would she have screened for potential Force Sensitivity?  Or did Tasiele cruise the bar scene and have a one-night stand, purposefully?  One does not need a relationship or a connection to someone to get pregnant; if Tasiele just wanted a child, there are a lot of ways to have a kid without getting into an involved relationship with someone.
Or did Tasiele get attached?  Were her writings initially about someone she felt something for?  Obviously, she would not name names, but speaking about attachments to individuals would have likely been in her journals.  Did Tasiele Shan have a relationship that resulted in her pregnancy?  If so....
Does Satele’s father know he is?  Or did Tasiele hide it?  Satele hiding it from Jace has a different context; Satele had signed onto the Jedi way, without her mother’s ‘deviant’ philosophy -- there was no room for Jace and a baby in her attachment-free life.  In Satele’s mind, it was better for all parties to be unaware and parted from each other, especially if Theron became a Jedi himself.  In contrast, if she was in an attached relationship, Tasiele may well have told her lover about his child.
So far, what I’ve written above sort of revolves around the idea that Tasiele was out in the galaxy, away from the Jedi Order, and that whoever the father was, he was not a Jedi.  After I gave this to Spouse to read for the first time, he reacted positively and wondered aloud, “What if Tasiele got exiled because the father was a Jedi master?”
And that’s yet another scenario to consider (and this is technically the last paragraph I wrote, ha). Tasiele Shan was on the edge, philosophically, but there is no mention as to how powerful she was.  We know Satele is very powerful; she’s actually been toned down in-game compared to some of the mind-reading/mind-control powers she had in novels.  If a Jedi:  was it a love affair?  A passionate night?  Something unsavory?  Was it swept under the rug for him, but not for her (pregnancy as evidence of misconduct)?  Or did Tasiele take the fall for someone she was very attached to?
If Tasiele was pro-attachments and she was in a relationship with the father of her child, Jedi or not, then what happened to him?  Was it a hostile break-up?  Did he die?  Did Tasiele intend to tell Satele about her father when she was old enough?  Was all of that thwarted when she was exiled?  The exile itself sounds as if it was done against Tasiele’s will rather than mutually agreed upon, so it probably looked more like an arrest than an amicable “go sit on this planet, please.”
Again, where Satele was during this entire process is not known.  There is no mention of her father in any of the information we have, so we assume he was either not involved ....or that what he did, said, wanted -- none of that ultimately mattered or affected what happened to his daughter.
How all of this affects Satele is not known.  We know she does not inform Theron or Jace of their connections.  That may be prompted by the situations discussed above.... or that might just be Jedi teachings about attachment at work and the perils for a Force-Sensitive child. We only know she’s reading her mother’s works after Zakuul.  Satele was Grand Master of the Jedi Order; she was viewed as a paragon.  However, when we dig a little bit into who Tasiele Shan was and why she is not around, this reveals, potentially, a far more complicated Satele with, maybe, a troubled childhood; Echoes of Oblivion feels even more hollow to me after writing this.  This post offers no conclusions, only speculation and perhaps a springboard for other fanworks.
