The sound of the tiefling celebration echoes all around the surrounding area, mixing with whatever little tunes a couple of the bards decide upon. But it all is drowned out in her mind. Dance with me? Is what she had asked with a flutter of lashes and the most alluring smile. It was an innocent request truly --- selfish in a way. And furthermore she's surprised when he actually agrees.

It's no complicated waltz in some grand ballroom but still it's nice --- nostalgic. Fancy footwork devolves into something slower. Bodies pressed together, arms wrapped another and hands entwined. It's a moment where she's absolutely relaxed; a genuine smile on her lips. At one point she leans in to touch her lips to his in what could be described as a tender kiss. She lingers there for a heartbeat. As quick as it came, it's gone, nary a lipstick stain left as evidence.

When Liliana pulls away, she rests her forehead against his staring straight into his eyes. It dawns on her that she's let too much of the mask slip. But it was best she's felt in so long since...

Composure has been swiftly placed back up lest she start seeming soft. "While you are a delight to dance with and kiss, I need my beauty sleep." She starts to disentangle herself from him. There's a pause and in the blink of an eye she's brushed her lips to the corner of his in a feather light peck. One for the road, so to speak. "Goodnight fair prince, parting is such sweet sorrow." And a poetic farewell coupled with a demure wave before she starts back towards her tent.

She could kick herself for being so weak. But even more so for enjoying it.

romance & relationship headcanons!

11. how comfortable is your muse with their appearance and their body?

This is actually pretty easy for me to answer for my mains so I'll do it for all of them.

Durante Faust

Despite his attitude, he actually is a bit self conscious about his looks, due to being a tiefling raised not...Among other tieflings for the most part. He tends to overcompensate with extra fake confidence, but if you catch him vulnerable, he'll be concerned about your reaction to his devilish looks. He'll try to joke it off, though, maybe try to distract but he'll be uncomfortable if caught off guard.

Gwenifar van Hol

Gwenifar has a complicated relationship with her appearance. She's at the point where she's like "eh, it's a body" so she wouldn't be insulted or put off if someone accidentally walked in on her changing. But she does suffer from a lower view of her attractiveness due to her time being ill as a teenager and not getting attention and that (even being the butt of the village's jokes because who would crush on her), and then the robes the Ilmatari wear aren't exactly flattering. I'd say she's only just now, at 32, started to come into her own since of confidence, by not being concerned about what others think.

Talilah Bluethorn

The only issue she has is she wishes she were a little taller. 5'3" isn't bad, but just. Two more inches. Other than that, she's very comfortable with her body and appearance. She's confident she looks good, she's confident in what she can do with her body (she needs to be as an aerial silks acrobat), and is comfortable in most attire (even if that attire is lacking in coverage).

Tavinkas

Tavinka's relationship with his body is complicated. It's...Foreign, the y shape scars on his chest are strange. Granted, as far as his appearance goes, he's rather confident in his face and arms (sorcerer outfit looks so good on him), but he wouldn't want someone coming across him and seeing his unfamiliar scars and asking questions he can't answer.

If there is one thing Gale and Astarion could always find common ground upon, a refined taste for the finer things in life would be one of them. The wizard can always depend on his elf companion to share a delightful conversation, well, most of the time. When Astarion is in the proper mood to converse with him, that is.

Gale occupies the seat offered to him, perched beside the rogue. The campsite is quiet by this time of evening, merely the distant sounds of howling, eerie wind, and Lae'zel continuously sharpening her oversized swords. "I know I am not your preferred company, but perhaps I thought you may like to talk. The drow woman at Moonrise," the one who (rather crudely) insisted on receiving a vampire bite, "she upset you."

the grand gates of far far away loom in the middle distance. astarion is at the tail end of describing their mission, should minthara accept it: " - so, long story short, we're going to need to kill the fairy godmother. " he seems to remember who he's speaking to, then, and adds: " i mean fairy godmother as in overgrown pixie, not as in. well. " he waves a hand vaguely. " you know. me. and shadowheart! she counts, doesn't she? i assume she's the only other faerie-adjacent being you know; you'll have killed the others. anyway, i would hire an assassin, but there could be a dead clown or two in it for you. " astarion doesn't want to pay an assassin. the potential for dead clowns is technically true, though.

truth be told, the night warden is only half listening - saddle-sore from a long journey upon a mount she is not familiar with; all for shadowheart and her craving for burger prince - whatever that was. if the food of faerûn's surface had served as a prelude, then minthara had little hope for anything better than bland, greasy swill. a sigh - the hard line of her shoulders dropping; exasperation pinching her features until she sours completely - astarion's voice a dreadful buzz in her ear --- much like that hellish music floating from beyond the gates of this lime-stone city, so aptly named far far away. surely it could not be an anthem - if it was, the night warden is not sure if she yet lives, or has somehow ended up in a circle of the hells.

" astarion, will you still your tongue before i slice it from your yapping mouth? " comes the irate growl; voice snapping as she glances sidelong, expression taut with disgust. " i take it you have been here before, given your generous description of the locale. why do you not work as a guide? if there is indeed a most delightful clown to draw and quarter, there may be silver in it for you. if not, you will end up on the wrong end of my sword; and the pleasure i will take in dismembering you will more than make up for any lack of clown in the area, little jester. "

"Dear sweet Urza, don't be so dramatic." Liliana murmurs striding towards him. Each step leaves a trail of decay behind her --- withered grass and wilted flowers. The violet glow that illuminates her eyes and pact marks slowly dies out, leaving porcelain flesh smooth once more. Well save for the bits and chunks of viscera. Disgusting. Yet she's not going to moan about it; not when she's been elbow deep in it before.

Gently she starts picking pieces from his face, his clothes and his hair. "Honestly, for a man the gets drenched in blood on a normal basis, this shouldn't be such a big deal." Nose wrinkles when she wipes an eye from his shirt collar. Water canteen is removed from her belt and used to essentially wash her hands as best as possible. "To be fair, I told you to get out of the way. But as usual, no one listens to the four centuries old necromancer." She says while re-styling soft, snow curls. Her small horde lingers about as she works. When finished Lili gives Astarion a light pat on the cheek.

"There. Good as new. Although, you look pretty covered in gore or not." Though not as gorgeous as she. Such an obvious bit of narcissism has no need to be voiced. "If you're done with your tantrum we should get going. Unless you want to play some more with the goblins."

I shall give for all 4 of my mains with either a detailed explanation or a really vague shallow reason, in no particular order

Durante Faust

Lae'zel - because he needs a tough lady to top him I mean. Uh. I just think the whole opposite things with him being a silly avoiding responsibilities kind of guy and her super serious, very responsible-ness would be a fun balance.

Rolan just because Durante flustering him sounds fun

now for a type of character, he would need someone with a firm hand but not a tight grip, someone forward and sure of themself, but also able to have fun and play around a little bit.

Wyll - just because Durante seems to be the type to play romance but be keen to avoid it, but I think Wyll could break that because he's so damn charming

Karlach - Could be cute. They would have fun together and once again, lady to top him. But I think it could be an interesting dynamic to say the least.

Gwenifar van Hol

Oh, someone who's super flirty and charming because she does not ever get the hint that someone's flirting with her because she just...Doesn't register the idea someone could find her attractive. And they just keep trying and she just thinks they're being nice it'd be hilarious.

Halsin - I feel like Halsin would appreciate how she does so much to help others. And Gwenifar would appreciate his wisdom and his whittling. She likes to paint so it'd be cute if he whittled figurines and she painted them.

Gale because sage4sage nerd bullshit. But also I think they'd just be super soft and cute, and the sheer irony of cleric healer with a god who values all life x wizard with a chronic pain condition whose goddess told him to blow himself up is great.

Shadowheart - I have no exact reason but they vibe really well in the game and I think Shadowheart having someone who's supportive but also able to say 'hey you need to think this through' is really good for her.

Um for spice reasons because of Ilmater vs Loviatar stuff...Someone involved in Loviatar like Abdirak...idk like. spice.

Talilah Bluethorn

A drow would be fucking hilarious her father would have an aneurism but don't be like. An overly cruel drow or something. A little nerd drow would be fantastic.

Alfira and her girlfriend, Lakrissa because they'd all be adorable and make a really nice cuddle pile thanks

An arranged set up would be hilarious due to her father's bloodline. She would not be interested in it at all and it'd be funny if they weren't too and both tried to sneak out of the event, helped each other, and then one of the elders is like 'oh so great you two met' and they're like 'what.'

Wyll because folk hero and Talilah has that heroic background with what her entertaining troupe would do (steal from the rich, give to the poor) and just they would have such a fun dynamic with his charm and romantic attitude and how she could match that with some playfulness.

Astarion because I really enjoy the thought of them finding each other annoying when they first meet because he held a knife to her throat and she headbutted him, but then they like each other's humor and find each other attractive and eventually go 'uh feelings have been caught.'

Tavinkas

Shadowheart - amnesia buddies. They're both struggling with abusive gods and trying to figure themselves out so it would be a mutual situation, with being able to give each other the push they need to get on the path they need to be on.

Wyll - look. He's charming, heroic, but also needs support but is fully capable of giving support back. Sure, he needs a few wake up calls to his situation but he would be so gentle with Tavinkas and gods know that's what he so desperately needs.

Someone just able to be gentle and supportive. He desperately wants to have gentleness in his life, as it was never something he was allowed to have.

I want the angst of Gortash and Durge thanks. They've both been dealt bad hands and Gortash just went with it but Tavinkas decides to find a new path and leave him behind. Just drive that dagger in.

Gale because Tavinkas does like intelligent conversation and learning things and I think Gale would be very good for that. Tavinkas is skilled in magic but I think he'd like to learn the finer points of it and Gale would be delighted to discuss it.

This plight is the simplest of them all: you did not ask for this. You were never given a choice. No part of yourself feels human, just a collection of traits you've picked up from mirroring anyone you could, even the people you meet through a television screen. It's alienating to live that way- yet someone has called you the alienating one. Maybe too many people to count. Maybe they treated you so uncomfortably inhuman that it's all you can understand now, or you've dug yourself into such a deep hole in an attempt to keep safe that you can't remember a person living in the home of your body at all. Being alive is confusing and painful and lonely and loud but living is all there is to being human- you're already there. Just take air into your lungs and breathe. Close your eyes and picture a beautiful sky. You made that. You painted that yourself.
