Prompt 121
There’s several de-aged Danny prompts, but what about de-aged Jazz. Most agree she’s very liminal after all, so who's to say ghost things won’t affect her too?
So imagine with me, Jazz gets hit with something, and she is now child; maybe even baby. Danny panics, flees with his emergency bag alongside the other three in Team Phantom. So now they’re four teens with a very small child on the run. Four teens and a small child who have run into several heroes.
Heroes who are all very concerned.

TOKYO REVENGERS OCS:
PHARAOH’S KIDS
(Updated: 3-1-2024, added Seki and updated character deisgns)
Hihi!!!
Sekkun here with another character line up, this time it’s for my newly created Tokyo Revengers OCs.
They’re based off of, well, egyptian gods of course. I’ll explain that later. Been working on these OCs since some time ago, on and off.
Here is the character lineup, with their names, voice headcanons as well as a description (excuse my writing I am so sorry lmao)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So yeah that’s the 6 of them!
Now as promised, here’s what each egyptian gods they’re based off of:
-Koji Shimamoto (Anubis)
-Hisora Yamakawa (Horus)
-Junshin Miyazaki (Set)
-Hitsuto Fujita (Khnum)
-Arakawa Furutani (Sobek)
-Seki Saratani (Bastet)
HEIGHT CHART THINGY:
Tumblr media
Now, since my TR OCs just came out from the oven, Koji being revamped especially, I don’t really have much lore between them.
BUT basically, these six are childhood friends that made a vow to compete against one another to see who’s the best in their friend group.
Tensions were risen slightly during their competition, however they still hang out as per normal when they’re not doing their daily gang stuff in their individual gangs. They all agreed to separate gang from play, too.
The game is played with the exception of Seki, who chose not to play the game as he quote-on-quote “prefers to do his own thing”. Seki will eventually join a gang, but that’s in the future and another story for another day.
Additional information is that Koji’s “REALLY good friends” with Mitsuya and he seems to talk about Mitsuya alot to Hisora.
Only Hisora knows about Koji being gay while the rest of his gang is straight and he’s supportive of it!…he just doesn’t like having to listen to his friend talk about or even mention the lilac-haired man every time.
Haha Koji you’re a straight imposter
CONCEPT ART/DOODLES:
(DELINQUENT YAOI REAL⁉️⁉️⁉️)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah here’s kinda like a detailed ref(?) for Koji as well as some headshot sketches of Hisora, Junshin and Arakawa.
I gave Arakawa a mullet in the final one because the man bun was so good I had to save that hair style for the 2008 time skip.
(Sorry Hitsuto, no concept art of you. I shitted you out on the spot 🫶)
I’ll probably add more lore and post it here but for now, enjoy new lore!!

The Blue and Red Caftan of Jean-Francois Portaels
Or as I like to call it, griping about uncritical (and at times, maliciously misattributed) use of historical images in costume research, especially from Orientalists. I recently came across images 2 and 5 being reposted as Egyptian historical fashion. While the women in these two paintings wear necklaces similar to Egyptian ones, the style of necklace itself was popular across a VERY broad region (I believe I've even seen Balkan necklaces of a similar style). In painting 2 Portaels does not specify where the woman depicted is from, though the title of 5 indicates the depiction intends to be of a woman from Cairo.
In the first image, I can tell you the woman is Moroccan (her earring and under caftan are pretty distinct), though he does not specify this. Woman 2 is wearing what looks to be a yelek, which would indicate she's Egyptian, if we assume she's North African. Woman 5 is probably also wearing a yelek, but the cut looks oddly loose. The difference between the yelek and the caftans more common to the Maghreb is that a yelek is of a tighter cut, and has a low, oval neckline that potentially can reveal cleavage, which is found on a few other contemporary Egyptian garments. In practice, the yelek itself was often hidden under another garment, and usually had an underdress covering the chest, despite depictions otherwise. The exception would be dancers and certain other professions.
Further, the decoration and shape of the garment do not resemble Egyptian garments. A tob sebleh, to my understanding, would have a longer sleeve. The embroidery and cordwork are somewhat unusual and look more Maghrebi, though it's harder for me to judge this definitively as it's hard to find enough detailed photos of Egyptian cordwork to form a general impression. Additionally, I feel like I've seen a Tunisian men's garment that looks almost exactly like this, but in white with gold cord.
Frankly, given this caftan shows up so often, I think it was a real garment Portaels had, and I don't think he cared about where it was from when choosing to paint it. He was an Orientalist painter, and while some of that school painted with great accuracy and humanity, their work always needs to be carefully judged. My guess is that the garment is of Maghrebi origin. It is the sartorial centerpiece of most of these paintings, wfich is why though details of 2 and 5 are accurate enough, I find myself mildly annoyed that these are being shared without context.

I have a question for you. I'm doing research on historical pregnancy tests, and the pissing on barley test was mentioned for Egypt. Is this correct? Which papyri is this found in? Thank you!
Yes! There are a few papyri that contain/mention pregnancy tests, actually. One of them is Pap. Carlsberg 8, but that one is very lacunose, another is the Berlin Medical Papyrus.
Here’s the excerpt from that one, also known as Papyrus Berlin 3038, as translated by Dawson:
Another test for a woman who will bear or a woman who will not bear. Wheat and spelt: let the woman water them daily with her urine like dates and like sh'at seeds in two bags. If they both grow, she will bear: if the wheat grows, it will be a boy; if the spelt grows, it will be a girl. If neither grows, she will not bear.
The test is a general pregnancy test and in some cases like the above, also a gender-prediction test. The hopefully-pregnant woman is supposed to urinate on bags of two different grains, and if both or either sprouted, the woman was pregnant. The gender of the child was thought to be indicated by the type of grain that sprouted faster than the other. If neither grain sprouted, the woman was supposedly not pregnant.
Now the interpretations of how the grains mentioned in the papyrus should be translated differ. In the excerpt above, Dawson mentions wheat and spelt. Other versions translate the terms as emmer (girl) and barley (boy). The 10th century text Kamel-el-Sinaafil Tibb includes what seems to be a variant of this test, which mentions barley, wheat (and beans). This text doesn’t mention anything about gender-prediction, however.
There have been a few different studies on the efficacy of this test. In 1963, Paul Ghalioungui spearheaded the first one. The grains chosen for this study were wheat and barley. You can read the paper about this study here; but to make an interesting story short: in 23 of 40 cases involving pregnant urine the grain sprouted in a way that approximated control, and in another 5 of those 40 cases the growth was poorer than control, but definitely there. In 12 cases there was no growth. In 23 cases one grain grew faster than the other: in 7 cases the prediction of gender as suggested by the papyrus was correct; in the other 16 it was incorrect. There was a 100% failure to grow in the grains watered with the urine of non-pregnant individuals, both male and female.
The study does mention that they kept the seeds on filter paper and not in a mixture of sand and dates, as the Egyptian test mentions is necessary. There is also still the possibility that the wheat and barley are not the correct types of grain. So this should be taken into consideration while discussing the results of this study, although these are still seriously interesting! One of the conclusions is that it’s possible that the hormones estrogen and progesterone, present in high quantities in pregnant women, help in germination of the grains.

i had a bunch of those fangames played for me ages back and unfortunately my general impression was that they were kind of needlessly complicated without actually having much flavour to the characters themselves. most of the designs aren't particularly distinct or memorable either so it's just. it just kinda ends up an unsatisfying meal. also most of the music is kinda whatever i gotta be real

The Muppets pre-Disney had the purest expressions of woe and love to ever exist ever. No one will ever make me as emotional as an anxiety riddled bear singing about how much he misses his old life and opportunities even though his friends still love and support him no matter what. Absolutely nothing in this current world can measure up to the realism and gentle humor of the Muppets.
