He’d done a lot of drugs in his teens, and even more in his early twenties, but there was no high like the high he got from performing in front of a screaming crowd. Growing up, he’d thought it would never get better than The Dive, where on its busiest night, held a few dozen people at most. Jesse still couldn’t believe that he’d come from there, to headlining for bands that were selling out fucking arenas. There was only one way to describe what had happened to Live Wire in the last five years: they’d made it. There was already talk of their own tour next year — just along the West coast, but still. Jesse was living the fucking dream. But no matter how many times he stumbled off the stage, ears ringing from the music and the screaming, he didn’t think he’d ever get used to it. He was even less used to the crowd of adoring fans that came afterwards. Autographs and pictures and gifts and girls. So many girls. So even though he’d done it a dozen times by now, Jesse’s excitement and adrenaline were still palpable as the backstage pass crowd came through the door, and it was the most non-routine routine ever as the guys tended to their fans. But it was only a few minutes before something different did strike Jesse, and he glanced over as someone stepped into his peripheral. A little blonde in a flowy little dress, almost pristine and delicate in comparison to the rest of the crowd surrounding him. She would have looked like she were in the wrong place entirely if not for the leather jacket she’d donned over her ensemble, which suited the hell out of her. Jesse actually blinked to make sure he wasn’t seeing things. No way. No fucking way. He was excusing himself and pushing his way through the crowd before he could even think. “As I live and breathe — is that Zoey White backstage at a fucking rock show?” Jesse he called to her as he approached, grinning from ear to ear. By the time he got to her, the adrenaline and disbelief and elation overcame him and he wrapped both arms around the tiny girl in a bear hug, lifting her off her feet and spinning where they stood. He was still grinning broadly when he set her back down.

Or get another drink?”

The Brewers At A Glance- The Brewers have fallen on hard times with four straight losses. The A’s of all teams swept the Brewers at Miller Park over the weekend. The Brewers make their annual trip to Minneapolis for a quick two-game set. Owen Miller has been the team’s most consistent hitter with a .315 average and nineteen RBI’s. Andruw Monasterio has provided solid defense and a .273 average. Rowdy Tellez leads the power department with twelve homers. Jesse Winker has missed time with a neck injury, but is on a rehab assignment with Nashville. Tyrone Taylor has missed time with an elbow injury. Eric Lauer (shoulder), Wade Miley (lat), and Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) are all out at the moment. The Twins will face their best starter in Corbin Burnes on Tuesday. Julio Teheran is turning back the clock with a 1.48 ERA in 24 innings of work. The Milwaukee bullpen has a 4.17 ERA, which is twentieth in baseball. Closer Devin Williams has allowed just one run over 21 2/3 innings. Bryse Wilson and Joel Payamps have been solid relievers for the Brewers.
The Twins At A Glance- The Twins had an odd road trip. They got swept by the Rays then took the first two from the Jays in dramatic fashion. The bullpen was depleted, so Emilio Pagan blew the game in the series finale. The Twins sit at (33-33) and return home with a 1.5 game lead in the Central. They will have a ten-game homestand to get right. Joey Gallo hit a home run on Sunday in his rehab assignment for the Saints. I’m thinking either Kyle Garlick or maybe Trevor Larnach will get optioned to St. Paul to make room. Byron Buxton could be back during this homestand. Kenta Maeda might make one more start for the Saints before returning. Caleb Thielbar was put back on the injured list with an oblique strain. Royce Lewis was 7-for-8 in the last two games in Toronto and is now hitting .317. Donovan Solano is hitting .313 in the month of June. The Twins need to get Jorge Lopez right. They only have Jhoan Duran, Griffin Jax, and Brock Stewart as very high leverage options. Jovani Moran has been used at times late in games with Caleb Thielbar out. Jose De Leon has been gaining more confidence from Rocco Baldelli as well.
What To Watch For- The Brewers took three of four games from the Twins in 2022. They won the opener at Target Field then Jose Miranda hit the walk-off homer in the series finale. Milwaukee then won both games at Miller Park. Pablo Lopez is (1-1) with a 3.19 ERA in five starts against the Brewers. Corbin Burnes is (2-1) with a 2.45 ERA in four games versus the Twins. Colin Rea and Bailey Ober have not faced their opponents in their career. Tuesday’s match-up bodes well for Corbin Burnes, who will rack up some strikeouts against the Twins. The Twins have been striking out at a high rate and Burnes is a strikeout pitcher. The Twins should get some guys back during this homestand. This should be an interesting match-up of two teams in the playoff hunt.

“It ain’t right.” The words came out quiet, gritted between his teeth as he fought with himself to stay in control. Emotions were always a tough son of a bitch to get a handle over, but he’s always tried to work through them. This time, though.. this time it felt near impossible to reign them in.
“It ain’t right that ya can just turn tail when shit gets too real, Jesse. We can goof ‘round day n’ night, but the second ya feel any sorta sentiment of somethin’ serious it’s ‘nother year or two ‘fore I hear anythin’ from ya.” Which wasn’t an exaggeration given that he had gone through a long period of silence before.

NBA All-Star 2021: Dunk contest, 3-point shootout preview & predictions

Here are our picks for the 2021 dunk contest, three-point contest, and skills challenge.
The 2021 NBA All-Star Game is happening even after several superstars including LeBron James voiced their opposition to holding the game amid a global pandemic. Instead of a full weekend of parties and events, the NBA has decided to cram everything into Sunday night. That includes the dunk contest, three-point contest, and skills challenge.
The NBA tried to get Zion Williamson for the dunk contest and LaMelo Ball for the skills challenge, but both players turned down the invite. The league couldn’t even land Alex Caruso for the dunk contest. While some of the excitement for the events that are typically held on All-Star Saturday will be diminished with a compromised field and few fans in the stands, there’s still the potential for some fun moments that are made for TV.
The 2021 NBA All-Star Game is happening on Sunday, March 7 in Atlanta. The skills challenge and three-point contest will be held before the game, beginning around 6:30 p.m. ET. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 8 p.m., with the dunk contest to be held during halftime.

Here’s the field for the 2021 dunk contest, which will start at halftime of the 2021 NBA All-Star Game on TNT.
Obi Toppin, F, New York Knicks: Toppin won the Naismith Award as the top player in college basketball last year at Dayton before being drafted No. 8 overall by the Knicks. The 6’9 big man has had a slow start to his rookie year, but was known for his high-flying rim attacks in college.

Anfernee Simons, G, Portland Trail Blazers: Simons is in his third season with the Blazers after jumping from high school to the NBA as a fifth-year senior at IMG Academy. The 6’3 guard only has two dunks this season, per Basketball Reference, and has typically been known more as a microwave scorer than as a dunker. Cassius Stanley, G, Indiana Pacers: Stanley was a five-star recruit and one-and-done freshman at Duke last season who was drafted No. 54 overall by the Pacers. He’s spent most of this season in the G League bubble. Here is a compilation of his best dunks at Duke.

2021 NBA dunk contest predictions
Cassius Stanley is our pick to win the dunk contest. The 6’5 guard reportedly broke Williamson’s school record for max vertical jump at Duke, and hit 44 inches at the draft combine.
This man can do some absolutely sick stuff. Stanley might not be a big name yet, but he can put on a show.

2021 NBA three-point contest predictions, preview, and time
The three-point contest will be held on Sunday, March 7 at 6:30 p.m. ET on TNT. Here’s a look at the field.
Stephen Curry, G, Golden State Warriors: The greatest shooter ever — needs no other introduction. The 32-year-old is making 41 percent of his threes on 11.7 attempts per game this season at time of publication.
Jaylen Brown, F, Boston Celtics: Brown was made an All-Star for this first time in his fifth season in the league. The 6’7 wing is making 38 percent of his threes on six attempts per game.
Jayson Tatum, F, Boston Celtics: The 23-year-old is making his second All-Star appearance in his fourth season. His three-point numbers have slightly dipped this season, but he’s still making a respectable 37 percent on seven attempts per game.
Devin Booker, G, Phoenix Suns: Booker is in the All-Star Game for the second straight year. The 24-year-old guard is shooting 36 precent on more than five attempts per game.
Zach LaVine, G, Chicago Bulls: The 26-year-old guard is making his first All-Star appearance in his seventh season. He’s shooting 43.3 percent from three-point range on 8.1 attempts per game.
Donovan Mitchell, G, Utah Jazz: The 24-year-old guard is making his second All-Star appearance. He’s making 38 percent of 8.6 attempts per game from three.
What are the three-point contest rules?
Each competitor will have 70 seconds to attempt of maximum of 27 shots on five racks placed around the arc. Every shot is worth one point, unless it’s a “money ball” which is worth two points. Four of the racks have one “money ball” on them, and the fifth rack is only made up of money balls.
Like last season’s three-point contest, there will also be two Mountain Dew Zone spots further back on the wings with one ball worth three points. The maximum score for one round is 40 points.
2021 NBA three-point contest predictions
We’ll pick Devin Booker as the winner. Booker won this event in 2018 and finished second to Buddy Hield last year when the Kings guard made the final shot to win the competition.

2021 NBA skills contest predictions, preview, and time
The skills challenge will also be held before the All-Star Game, starting at approximately 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday. Here’s the field:
Robert Covington, F, Portland Trail Blazers: The 6’7 forward is usually known for versatile defense and spot-up shooting ability. He’s the only HBCU alumnus (Tennessee State) competing this weekend. The 2021 NBA All-Star Game will raise $3 million HBCUs.
Luka Doncic, G, Dallas Mavericks: The 6’7 guard will be a starter in the All-Star Game and is already one of the best players in the league at 22 years old.
Chris Paul, G, Phoenix Suns: The 6-foot guard will be making All-Star appearance No. 11 at 35 years old.
Julius Randle, F, New York Knicks: The 6’8, 250-pound power forward is making his first All-Star appearance this season.
Domantas Sabonis, F, Indiana Pacers: The 6’11 big man made his second straight All-Star team and is quickly becoming one of the league’s toughest interior players.
Nikola Vucevic, C, Orlando Magic: A first time All-Star, Vucevic has remade his game from bruising low post center to three-point threat for Orlando.
We’ll pick CP3 to win, but it would be fun to see one of the big men win it.
