Definitely disappointed that Gridman Universe seems to be doing the one thing I didn’t want it to do, that being pairing Yuta and Rikka up. Dynazenon was a bit heteronormative so I was kinda expecting it but its still sad. That being the quality of this series is so high that this movie will probably be amazing anyway.

𝑺𝑺𝑺𝑺. 𝑮𝒓𝒊𝒅𝒎𝒂𝒏: 𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒕𝒖𝒎𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒆 SSSS. Gridman and I have a complicated history, I have never really been a fan of this show and what it does for a while and I think it may be due to watching a show where Hasegawa Keiichi doesn’t fully feel in his element compared to his previous writings in Ultraman Ginga, Ultraman Gaia, Ultraman Nexus, etc. I don’t really find myself enjoying it from a character standpoint as I find 85% of the characters kinda dull and/or static despite how it tries to give further development to them.  A show like SSSS. Gridman on paper sounds like my kind of show: Mecha and Gridman references galore down to character design and some action choreography, plus animated by Studio TRIGGER which have created all time favorites of mine but yet...it felt soulless to me. I think the show desires to tell a deeper story about isolation, but I don’t think it fully understands how to. Many times it doesn’t commit, thus making me wonder what the direction was. And yet, the follow entry hit me more than this? It feels almost odd to me.
