The fact that I've never made a Spirit OC until now is insane. I've been obsessed with this movie since 2002.
This gal is based on a drawing of a Spirit x Rain baby I drew as a kid, which was a neon yellow splotched mare named Spira. Little me was sooo good at naming things.
You can probably see this movie's influence in a lot of my artwork, honestly my usual style is quite similar. This movie lives rent free in my brain, if anything I pay it to stay there.

Watching a horse movie (Spirit), while drawing horses (Twilight Sporkle redesign) whilst thinking about horses (it's been 5 years since I last went horseriding and IM IN PAIN)
Also unrelated- spirit the stallion of cimarron, a horse movie, did a better job at doing a nice job representing a native-american community (albeit not perfect), than Disney ever did IN ALL THEIR HISTORY.
oh man i’d love to hear some indigenous people’s thoughts on ssotc, i personally enjoy the movie and think it definitely did better at depicting indigenous people than disney did with pocahontas but i’m not educated enough on the topic to say anything more than that.
