Hello thank you for answering my last question I asked you I love it when you do long post and long answers
💖
I wanted to give a reply to something you mentioned in the post
I've never seen Doctor who but that is something I've wanted to happen for a long while now since getting into RWBY and realizing that Oscar and Oz pin are my favorites
💚
Is that I hope they would somehow maybe get separated maybe somehow the others could get Oscar to the tree like maybe a leaf from the ever after got stuck on their clothes or maybe there's a leaf attached to Ruby that she doesn't know about after getting turned into a tree in the ever after and they make Oscar some ever after tea and he
💖
ascends from remnant to the tree in the ever after and then he and us come back to remnant to help with the final fight that is something I hope for cuz at the end of it all I'll just be sad with with whoever we lose because I really like both of them so much and I can't imagine Oscar without ozpin
💛
But since Oscar's story is also the Little Prince and I believe that Oz is supposed to represent the pilot in his life at some point they are supposed to separate but maybe
💜
if we're lucky that means they'll just separate as people and us and will get a body somehow
💚
I was actually hoping while they were in Atlas that that Oscar would maybe take up engineering and make ozpin a body
💜
I saw you mentioned in a post that you hoped Oscar would maybe doing apprenticeship under Penny's dad
I was hoping for something like that too and have it where Oscar makes Android kind of like penny and he makes it for oz so he could maybe use the staff to separate himself from ozpin that could maybe still happen but I don't know there are still other Atlas research facilities that could be used to make another Penny or even another Android like person similar to Penny who runs off Aura but instead of Aura they just put another soul into it
Oz/ozpin soul
These are just my thoughts on it and the hopes I have for the future when it comes to what's going to go down with the merge mainly just them separating cuz that's something I know I would just love to see happen cuz I want to see them interact with each other in person not as the same person 😄
Hello again Autumn. You are most welcome m’fam. Happy to hear that you liked my last response post and thanking you in advance for giving me an open opportunity to further discuss the Oscar the Sorceror’s Apprentice Pinehead headcanon concept I tossed into the Pinehead ether.
Happy to hear you liked the idea and also shared similar sentiments and ideas.
For me, Oscar going to the Tree in the Ever After is actually the whole reason I’m willing to bet dollars to doughnuts that the concept of Oz and Oscar being separated is a possibility.
THE SPLIT
Back when V8 first dropped and we got the whole scene of Penny being turned into a human through the power of the Relic of Creation, I made a post expressing that the writers basically opened the gateways for Oscar to do something similar.
If Team RWBY could use the Relic of Creation to basically turn their former comrade who was a living robotic puppet into a real girl with a beating heart and everything; then there should be nothing on Remnant that could stop Oscar from doing something similar.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If the Ever After and the Tree are to never ever return to the main RWBY narrative or rather, if Oscar Pine is to never be fated to cross paths with the Blacksmith of the Tree then surely, as an already established alternative, Oscar should AT LEAST be able to use the Relic of Creation to ask Ambrosious to separate his soul from Oz’s, splitting the two apart and therefore granting Oz(ma) his own form. Possibly his own original form that he never regained from the Brother Gods.
Tumblr media
If Ambrosious could turn Penny into a human girl then there shouldn’t be anything stopping him from freeing Oscar from the Merge by splitting him away from Oz(ma). It’s literally the same principle as Penny. Taking an living being that has a soul but not a true real body of their own and granting them said body. Instead of Ambrosious turning a robot girl into a human girl, he could have the very creatively challenging new project of separating a person with two souls into two separate beings with their own individual identities.
The only drawback of a potential split between the two souls is Ambrosious not being knowledgeable enough on either Ozma or Oscar to differentiate which soul is which. That and the fact that I doubt Ambrosious will be able to undo Ozma’s curse. He is technically a creation of the Brother Gods no different than man. So there is a chance for both Oscar and Oz(ma) to be cursed with immortality.
So in a nutshell, given that the Merge was already happening at such an accelerated rate, I can’t see the Split happening without side effects.
So basically what I’m saying here is that I can more likely see a very similar scenario to Penny back in V8 with Oscar in V10. Meaning I can see our heroes desperately needing to seek out reclaiming the Staff of Creation to use it to save Oscar from the Merge.
But unlike with Penny, saving Oscar with the Staff of Creation came with potential risks that could prove detrimental to both souls. There was always the chance for Team JNR_RWBY to do more harm to Oscar even though the Split was actually meant to help him, now that I think about it.
It is for this reason why I can actually more see the Split being a wicked idea of Salem. I can picture Salem once again kidnapping Oscar and using the Staff of Creation to force poor Ambrosious to split the two souls apart.
The last time Oscar was Salem’s prisoner, she failed with him since he and Oz were a united front that worked together to free themselves by sowing seeds of doubt in Salem’s more apprehensive members like Hazel and Emerald. I can definitely see Salem not making the same mistake twice so this time she destroys the very thing that made Oscar and Oz a formidable unit---their union.
Tumblr media
I can see Salem forcibly splitting Oscar and Oz apart---practically yanking the two souls out of Oscar’s now soulless corpse and holding them both at her mercy.
Tumblr media
And to add more salt to this wounding theory, I can even picture Salem torturing Oscar’s fragile soul, threatening to “kill” him first if Oz(ma) didn’t reveal to her the location of the last Relic----the Relic of Choice.
Yes, I can definitely more see Salem doing something like this.
Causing a Split as a way to simultaneously kill them both Oscar and Oz(ma) and put a permanent end to the cycle.
Tumblr media
I can see this possibility just as much as I can see the possibility of this ending two different ways, neither in Salem’s favour.
Either Salem induces a Split between Oscar and Oz(ma) and the whole ordeal results with the souls finally becoming one with Oscar completing the Merge but being recognizably different from past incarnations in the cycle, at least to Salem because he is noticeably stronger.
Basically picture Oscar having a Wanda becomes the Scarlet Witch infront of Agatha in Wandavision moment but with Salem. Pardon if you haven’t seen Wandavision either, by the way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m gonna call this Pinehead possibility --- Oscar Becomes the Gold Sorcerer as my interpretation of Oscar completing the Merge and becoming a great and powerful wizard who is like Ozpin/Ozma, but not quite, as Oscar once boldly put it.
Tumblr media
And of course, you know already that my alternative to this is my idea for a Oscar the Sorcerer's Apprentice Pinehead possibility:
Salem uses the Staff of Creation to induce the Split but it doesn’t work out in her favour because it results in Oscar and Oz(ma) becoming two separate beings, both now equally great and powerful since Oscar can now use magic just as competently as Ozma.
And after all this happens, Oscar basically becomes new Ozma’s apprentice, being trained by him in the ways of magic and more importantly, being a second major problem for Salem due to his growing mastery of the mystic arts.
Y’know come to think of it, this is exactly what happened in the Doctor Who 60th anniversary special. The villain of the story shoots the Doctor with a weapon that was meant to kill him but instead of generating like he always did, the Doctor instead undergoes a bi-generation for the first time in Who history where he splits apart into two Doctors. A rather humiliating issue for the villain since he basically doubled his own Doctor problem.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That being said, I too would very much like a somewhat similar “Ha-ha. Teehee. Bitch you thought” kind of comeuppance for Salem where instead of permanently killing her ex-husband turned mortal enemy and his new “young face”, she instead unintentionally brings her said ex-husband back to life with him not only recovering his younger, devilishly attractive form---the SAME form she originally first fell in love with.
Tumblr media
But now, that same young protegee of said ex-husband has inherited some of his magic and his combat skills as a result of Salem trying to kill them both via Split so now Salem has twice the problems she had before.
And for the final whammy, said fully revived great and powerful ex-husband and his equally great and powerful young protegee are gonna team up with their gaggle of friends to kick Salem’s grimm mummy ass, inclusive of the silver-eyed wild card who’s got a huge stickler for Salem since y’know, she might have killed her mom or caused her disappearance (that is still up in the air). Either way, things would not be good for Salem if something like that were to happen to her.
Between these two possibilities, now I really want the Split to become a real thing to happen for V10.
I want Oz(ma) to be revived into his own immortal body, completely separate from Oscar.
I want to have Oz(ma) and Oscar be split apart instead of merging together.
And, most importantly of all, I want all of this to happen because Salem tried to initially kill Oscar and Oz via a Split only for it to backfire on her big time because it would be the most hilarious “F*** you!” moment to Salem.
I mean, implications aside, I don’t hate Salem at all. I actually quite like her a lot as a villain character. However who am I to resist a potentially juicy humbling moment like this for Salem?
After all the wins she’s been having for the past few seasons, what’s funnier than a major big bad villain unintentionally reviving their greatest arch nemesis and creating double the problems they had with them before AFTER trying to kill them for good? I mean c’mon!
It’s such a picture perfect “SCREW OVER THE VILLAIN” moment by RWBY standards that I now wholeheartedly want this to happen in the canon. It may not happen ever but humour me. This would be pretty darn good if it actually happened canonically.
I would scream if Salem tried to kill Oscar and Oz(ma) permanently and it instead grants them the freedom they both desired. Forget the Tree.
Give me Salem tries to kill Oscar/Oz with the Staff of Creation and it instead splits the two apart with both Oscar and a now fully revived and still very much immortal Ozma retaining their magical powers and combat skills.
Tumblr media
That’s my new headcanon.
And if I wish to further define the “catch” with this Split. Obviously, like I mentioned, I would want the Split to come with certain amenities like:
Both souls retain their original memories and individual identities.
Both souls retain shared combat knowledge and magical abilities inherited from Ozma. Only Oscar’s control of his magic is better than Ozma’s since, while Ozma chooses to use his Long Memory as a conduit to channel his magic through, Oscar fights freehand (like Salem).
So right away, both souls have different combat styles despite sharing the same level of magic.
I say this because I really, really like the idea of Oscar using magic freehand.
The Long Memory is Ozma’s weapon. He is the soul with the real attachment to the cane since it’s been his fateful weapon since his very first life. Oscar only inherited it as the current life. From the few times Oscar has used magic canonically, he’s been shown to possess good control of it without needing the cane.
So let him go all Doctor Strange on everyone and be conjuring magical shit with his bare hands. It’ll be totally badass and Oscar deserves to be a badass on his own at this point. I totally would wanna see that. As a Pinehead, wouldn’t you?
Perhaps both Oscar and Ozma can even retain some of each other’s shared memories and mannerisms. Like for example, Oscar still carries himself and shares the same speech mannerisms as Ozma while Ozma could still instinctively read and often even feel Oscar’s emotions as if they were his own as a result of sharing a body with him for so long.
In terms of looks in respect to New Ozma: At first I thought it would be cool if Ozma looked exactly like Diggs---his first life after he was first revived. I wanted this look in particular since this is the form Ozma shared the most time with Salem. They even started a family together and had four children. So for me, this face holds the most significance to Salem outside of Ozma’s original form because unlike that form, Salem had a life with this one.
Original Ozma only had promised adventures and hard days where Salem had to watch her beloved slowly succumb to an incurable illness not even the god-given power of magic could heal him from.
First life Ozma or Diggs, as I dubbed him, was Salem’s partner in life. Her lover. Her husband. The father of her children and the king of the new world empire they built together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If Ozma were to be revived, I can picture his new design being an amalgamation of his original face and his first reincarnation’s. I can picture new Ozma with similar features to his first life---tall, confident, strong and handsome with dark skin. But his hair will still be an unkept mess of fluffy white hair, just like Diggs but in a similar style to his original form or perhaps Ozpin’s.
Tumblr media
And perhaps as a result of the Split and a way to have Oscar rub off on him physically, new Ozma could also have hazel eyes. Only his are not as green as Oscar’s. More light brown with green flecks. I think I can see that working better.
And of course, if new Ozma were to have a distinct voice, I would naturally envision him being voiced by none other than Mr. Shannon Mcormick himself. Not only did Shannon voice Ozpin as fans know but he also voiced Diggs---Ozma’s first reincarnation. The version of Ozma who was Salem’s partner. So it’s practically perfect.
---
So basically new Ozma will be very very much a fusion of the two versions of him who spent the most time with Salem. A time when he was deeply in love with her.
And y’know what? A part of me is even willing to believe that deep down Ozma still loves Salem unconditionally. After all this time and after everything she’s put him through throughout the life times, I think he still very much loves her. He still loves the woman he saved from the lonely tower and fell in love with.
You really expect me to believe that this man doesn’t still love Salem? May I remind folks that this is the same man that first said no to the God of Light when he was first propositioned to become humanity’s saviour. It’s very telling when you remember that Ozma only agreed to return to Remnant because it provided him a sliver of a chance to reunite with the woman he once loved and still loved.
Remember finding Salem was Ozma’s first priority once reincarnating. Not uniting humanity like Light asked him to. Light asked Ozma to ignore Salem and focus on humanity but Ozma did not listen. He did the opposite and only remembered his mission after he realized that him being with Salem did not align with his mission to the Gods.
There is so much left to dissect from Ozma and Salem’s former relationship.
Salem once asked her beloved Ozma, through Oscar, about why he kept coming back. And again, I’m willing to bet dollars to doughnuts that the reason Ozma keeps coming back outside of his whole curse thing is because there is a lingering part of him that still loves Salem and wishes to save her again, this time from herself, much like he did in his first life. That’s my theory on that and another reason as to why I want a Split to happen instead of a Merge.
A Split provides an opportunity to deeper explore Ozma’s connection to Salem. Learn more about her from Ozma’s perspective beyond what we glimpsed in the Lost Fable episode and beyond what was teased lightly in Fairy tales from Remnant.
Not to mention that a Split is a chance to (potentially) explore a (potential) romance for Oscar to have with Ruby (as the true rose in his little prince story) and highlight how that paralleles with Ozma’s love story with Salem, especially now that he was fully revived but still immortal; unable to fully move on until he united humanity and stopped his former beloved for good.
Genuinely, I actually really liked Ozma’s love story with Salem and given what I know about their shared story, I’m beginning to think a possible fitting end for their story would be if our heroes succeed in uniting humanity against Salem and that pleases the Gods enough for them to return to live amongst humanity like they said they would; making Remnant whole again.
Tumblr media
So first we had First Remnant when the Gods first shared the world with humanity that was destroyed by the God of Darkness following humanity’s betrayal of the Gods at the hands of Salem.
Then we had current Remnant, which was New Remnant, without the Gods and finally there will be Remnant Third Genesis or Remnant Gen III, for short, when the former four kingdoms are probably living under one united nation situated in what used to be Vacuo and the Gods return with Salem no longer a major problem.
As for Ozma and Salem, instead of “moving on” in the after life---both Ozma and Salem are essentially given a proper third chance at a life together. I mean third time’s the charm as the saying goes, right? Salem is back to her old self, no longer the Mother of the Grimm, corrupted by darkness and wanting to destroy the world.
Her and Ozma are now free of their immortality curses, able to live a brand new life together in Remnant Gen III raising a new generation of their children together.
Probably not the fan favourite ending for Ozma and Salem but this is what I’d personally think would be a good ending for them. Either they get to move on together in the after life after the Gods’ Return or they get to share one last life together happily ever after.
So even if Ozma died before Salem again, this time she wouldn’t have to grieve for him alone as a young widow because a) she would have had the luxury of a longer, much happier life with Ozma where they actually grew old together and b) she would have the support, comfort and company of the many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren she and Ozma bore together.
Tumblr media
I think that would be a rather sweet ending to Salem and Ozma’s love story. I mean it works for this squiggle meister. How about you or ya’ll reading?
---
So yeah, these are examples of things I can see from a Split between Oscar and Ozma. I can go on and on about this but I’ll stop here for now XD Don’t want this response post to be too long otherwise we’ll be here for as a long as Salem has been alive.

i saw ur new headcanon about oscar saving ruby if she gets killed,an i think it could work but ozma/ospin trades his place with ruby in the after life
Ding, ding, ding! That was actually what the rest of the headcanon was going to entail anon-chan. Well…more or less. Oscar still sacrifices himself to restore Ruby to the Land of the Living however as Oscar succumbed to his end in the After, this is where Ozma or rather Ozpin comes in clutch for him.
So in continuation with my last Pinehead Headcanon: Oscar’s Sacrifice For His Rose:
Tumblr media
… Oscar fading into the After should’ve been his final fate but… like with any story, there is always a twist. As the God of Darkness told our titular little prince, the only way to restore a life is give one in exchange. Thus would’ve required Oscar to give up his soul. However, as we’re both aware of, Oscar Pine is no mere mortal. He is no mere boy. He doesn’t just possess one soul. He has two or rather he is a culmination of many brave men who have all fully understand the meaning of sacrificing everything for what you believe in and what you love.
So at the last minute, just as Death was about to claim Oscar forever in her everlasting clinch, a hand suddenly reaches through the void and clasps Oscar’s tightly. And as the little prince opened in his eyes, there he saw…Ozpin. Once upon a time, many theories and musings ago, I shared another Pinehead headcanon expressing my views on the Ozma Lineage. Back then, my belief was that while Ozma represented the beginning, Oscar is meant to be the end. The last Wizard.
In a rendition of that theory, I had this similar concept of Oscar being brought before the God of Darkness while in the Realm Between Realms and in act of sheer bravery, Oscar forges his own deal with the God of Darkness. A bargain to finally put an end to Ozma’s cycle of reincarnation so that instead of another generation of innocent men being brought into a merciless war, Oscar alone will shoulder this burden this time; allowing the souls of Ozpin and his fellow Wizard brothers to finally rest in peace as Oscar becomes an immortal who cannot be killed---just like Salem. The timeless child.
So this is where that idea returns only instead of Oscar making the choice to be free of the Ozma cycle, Oz makes the choice for him to some degree. Just as how Oscar was willing to give up everything for Ruby's sake, my idea was that Oz would be willing to do the same for Oscar. To give him the one thing the old wizard knew in his heart that Oscar wanted back---his own life.
So essentially when Oscar believed  his fate to be sealed, here in comes Oz to take Oscar’s place in the After, much to the little prince’s dismay. Therefore Oscar gets to live. The little prince gets to return safely home to the light to get the chance to be with his beloved. However this wish came at the cost of another soul---a dear friend to the prince who was closer to him than he realized. And what was worse is that there was nothing Oscar could do to this time to prevent it from happening.
All Oscar could do is scream Oz’s name and look on in despair as Oz is the one who disappeared into the After in his place. But not before the old soul gave his young protégée a heartfelt farewell; embracing Oscar and whispering to him just how proud he was of his growth; actually thanking the Gods for pairing him with such a great and brave young man. And it is on this note where Oz knows that Oscar was going to be okay. Even as Oscar yelled in protest, Oz mirrored his smile of genuine contentment as Oscar is risen into the light and sent back home to be with his rose. The pilot had fulfilled his duty to his young friend. He helped the prince return home to be with his rose and for Oz, that was all that mattered to him.
Tumblr media
So basically, Oscar does end up being the Last Wizard. With Oz's sacrifice, Oscar is left alone. To be his own person. To live his life as he so desired without the concern that there was no future for him beyond the destiny the God cursed Ozma with. Because now thanks to Oz, there was a future for the prince and that was Oz’s gift to Oscar.
But despite being home. Despite his true rose being reborn, as beautiful and brave as she ever was. Despite being back safe with her and their friends, the little prince could do nothing but weep.
Weep for the friend he had lost.
“…He’s gone. He’s gone forever…”
These are the only words the prince could say in his moment of grief.
Oz was now gone. For good this time. And despite all that they had been through together. Despite their past strife and harsh battles, Oscar cried for Oz. After all, he was his brother. His friend. His pilot who was selfless enough to grant the prince his wish to be with the love of his life. And, in time, that will be the story that the prince will share to others about this noble soul.
And...yeah. That's it. That's the rest of the headcanon. You wanted to hear too @yellow-eyed-green-crocodile so here it is.
The first part of the headcanon focused more on Rosegarden whereas this last bit highlighted the bond between the two halves of Man with Two Souls. In the Little Prince story, from what I know, the relationship that the prince shared with his rose and the Pilot were two of his closest.
So I figured it would be nice to share an idea that embodied that for Oscar’s own little prince story. Like I stated in my headcanon post, this wasn’t meant to be a theory for the canon. Just an idea I wanted to share since, as folks might know, I’m a fan of Oscar’s bonds with both Ruby and Oz and just wanted to make something that encompassed that.
Hope folks like both sides of it =)

I just realized, in the movie, "Return to Oz", Dorothy gets separated from Princess Ozma in the beginning of the movie and the Knome King, a tyrant, kidnaps the Scarecrow. Which is pretty similar to getting separated from Oscar and Qrow getting arrested. This could also mean Ruby thinks Oscar is dead but then aids the team against Mombi aka Cinder
Tumblr media
For real. Y'know as you brought up “Return to Oz”, it makes me wonder if we’ll get any more Oz-inspired characters for next season.
Like for example, this squiggle meister is still hoping for a Jack Pumpkinhead inspired RWBY Character. I even started toying around with the thought of what if…apart from Oz, Oscar is somehow joined by Jack Pumpkinhead who helps him on his journey back to Atlas?
Basically I have this new Pinehead headcanon where Oscar meets a RWBY versions of “Return to Oz” characters—Jack Pumpkinhead (and byextension Sawhorse), Tik Tok and even Bilinda the Talking Hen who become his companions for V8 while he’s separated from his main team.
Okay, hear me out with this: If I recall correctly, Jack Pumpkinhead had his own house in Oz, correct?
According to research, Jack Pumpkinhead’s house was hollowed out pumpkin located in the Gilikin Country near the Tin Woodman’s castle and a day’s journey from the Emerald City. Based on a description from the Oz Fandom Wiki page, Jack’s house rested in the centre of a vast pumpkin field where vines grew in profusion and bore pumpkins of varying sizes along with other vegetables that Jack grew in his garden.
With this in mind, if the CRWBY Writers wished to incorporate elements of “Return to Oz” into Oscar’s story, this could potentially be a neat way they could also introduce characters such as Jack Pumpkinhead. As of the end of V7, Oscar is on his own far, far away somewhere off in Solitas or far Mantle that is right below Atlas Kingdom.
Imagine if…after wandering through the cold of Solitas (especially in his current state), Oscar suddenly collapses from exhaustion in the snow where he is ultimately discovered by a Jack Pumpkinhead inspired RWBY Character.
Jack Pumpkinhead takes Oscar back to his little home that was located right below Atlas—a.k.a the Castle of the Tin Man meaning Ironwood. At his house, Jack Pumpkinhead nurses Oscar back to health, providing him with a nice hot meal prepared with some of the vegetables he had successfully managed to harvest in spite of the cold climate. He even took the liberty of washing Oscar’s clothes for him and/or providing him with new attire better acclimatized for the Solitas weather. Remember, apart from visiting Pietro’s workshop and fighting off the Saybers in downtown Mantle, Oscar hasn’t experienced being out in Solitas unlike his peers. Remember Ruby’s comment about it being “freezing” out in Solitas near the mines? Remember Weiss’ comment that without aura and proper heating, the cold of Solitas can kill you in a matter of minutes.
Remember Blake’s comment about not feeling so bad about leaving Oscar behind so he doesn’t have to experience how cold it really was out there in the tundra.
Remember where Oscar is right now as of the end of V7? Out in the cold of Solitas, near the mines! I’m just saying—it would be really cool if Oscar got a little wardrobe upgrade for V8. He doesn’t necessarily have to change his whole outfit. But he could get a nice red scarf for the cold and y’know hiding his identity too since he’s supposed to be a dead man. Juuuuust saying…
Unlike my previous musings of a RWBY-inspired Pumpkinhead character, thi s version is a human but his personality and mannerisms still comply with his Ozcounterpart. If I had to picture a human version of Jack Pumpkinhead—I’dimagine him being an exceedingly tall Mantlese youth, no older than nineteenyears old  physically but possessing the naivety of a kid younger than Oscar.
I like the idea of this Jack character taking an instant shine to Oscar, treating him as a little brother almost; nicknaming him “Princey” in reference to his attire.
Basically the idea I have is that Jack Pumpkinhead would join Oscar Pine (Princess Ozma/Tip/The Little Prince) in his return to Atlas by transporting him on the back of his mighty steed—a motorcycle with a sidecar that Jack lovingly christened Sawhorse (based of the Oz character of the same name who was Jack’s form of transport).
Seriously if the CRWBY wished to introduce a Jack Pumpkinhead character into the series for Oscar’s side of things, now would be an appropriate time to do it. Just picture it: Oscar on the back of Sawhorse being driven by Jack Pumpkinhead back to Atlas. I would honestly lose my shit if something like that happened for V8.
Not to mention that I also have this neat way the show could bring Klein Sieban back into the story. Since Klein was unjustly fired from Schnee Manor by Jacques, according to Whitley, this got me thinking.
What if…and this is a huge IF, Oscar meets Klein down in Far Solitas as well and just like Jack Pumpkinhead, Klein ends up accompanying Oscar as a companion on his journey and basically acts as his version of Tik Tok.
I’m just saying. In terms of build, Klein is the perfect candidate for a Tik Tok inspired RWBY Character especially since RWBY Characters can have multiple inspirations.
I really dig the idea of Klein playing a double role as the embodiment of the Seven Dwarves in Weiss’ Snow White Story in addition to TikTok in Oscar’s Little Prince/ Return to Oz story. It’s perfect!
Not to mention that I just would love to see Oscar meet Klein and go on adventure with him. We never got to see Klein reunite with Weiss and meet any of her friends that he got fired trying to help her get back to. It would be nice if Klein is brought back into the series this way and part of his motive for joining Oscar on his journey and even helping him in the first place was after he discovered that he was an ally of his “little snowflake”.
As for Bilinda the Talking Hen. Well for RWBY, Bilinda the Talking Hen could be Bilinda the Talking Baby Chick—the pet chick of Jack Pumpkinhead who also an immediate liking to Oscar upon first meeting—probably because of his farm boy background since back on the farm, chicks loved Oscar for some reason.
From what I know about Bilinda, her character was basically the Toto of “Return to Oz”. As we know, Zwei is RWBY’s version of Toto. So…why not have a version of Bilinda too? RWBY could use more legit animal characters. Zwei can’t be the only animal mascot of the series.
If Ruby can have Zwei, then let Oscar have Bilinda, dagnabbit!  Make Bilinda a cute little baby chick thatlikes to sit on top Oscar’s bed of fluffy hair.
Bonus if Oscar introduces Bilinda to Ruby and the prince’s rose becomes enamoured with his little feathered friend since remember, Ruby thinks feeding chickens is fun (according to the DC Comics).
But y’know, this is just me spouting ideas here as always. Take it or leave it.
Not saying we’ll get to see Return to Oz characters for V8. Nor am I saying Oscar will even have his own set of companions for his journey with Oz.
Still…it suuuuuuure would’ve GREAT to see Oscar riding through Solitas on the back of Sawhorse who is a badass-looking motorcycle in the RWBY-verse owned by Jack Pumkinhead who dutifully agrees to help the prince with his journey back to Atlas to reunite with his rose and their friends, alongside Klein Sieban and Bilinda the Baby Chick who is kind of Oscar’sversion of Zwei.
…I’m just saying…this could’ve been really, really, REALLY neat to see. But y’know. We’ll see what the CRWBY Writers actually have planned for Oscar for V8. Looking forward to it.

Hey squiggle I watched a livestream review of chapter 9 on youtube that said that Cinder would most likely go after Oscar for the relic and while Neo tries to attack ruby or maybe they both would attack him placing oscar in danger....what are ypur thoughts...
Tumblr media
Heyo Dagger! Hmm. Here’s the thing with that from my perspective:
I’ve never gotten the impression that Cinder cared that much about gathering the Relics. The only time we’ve seen her pursue them was on behalf of Salem. But now that Salem has disowned her former apprentice, Cinder is left to her own devices and as far as I know as provided by evidence within the series, Cinder’s previously established goals were killing Ruby Rose and acquiring all the Maiden magic for herself.
No season highlighted this more for me than V5. I mean Cinder couldn't even keep her megalomaniac behaviour under wraps long enough for the Vault of the Spring Maiden to be opened. The instant Vernal had her back turned and Raven let her guard down, Cinder killed Vernal in her first attempt at pilfering the Spring Maiden magic.
With this in mind, the only incentive I can picture Cinder targeting Oscar with the Relic of Knowledge for is so that she can probably force our poor little barn prince into using the lamp to gain knowledge on the identity and whereabouts of Fria—the Winter Maiden. Since Salem has never successfully gathered any of the Relics, it’s safe to assume that she doesn’t know anything on the kind of powers each Relic possesses. All she probably does know is what Ozma originally disclosed to her during the events of the Lost Fable—bring all four Relics together to summon back the Brothers to place judgment on humanity. And with the God of Light’s warning to Ozma regarding the destruction of Remnant in the face of humanity in chaos, my main presumption is that that’s what Salem wants.
That being said, if Salem didn’t know how the Relics work then I assume neither did her subordinates. This is inclusive of Cinder. So even if Cinder were to somehow pilfer the Relic of Knowledge from Oscar, I doubt it’ll be of any real use to her since she doesn’t know how the Relic works at all. The only way I can picture Cinder acquiring the Relic and gaining the knowledge she desires is by abducting Oscar since he knows what the Relic can do and how to summon Jinn. I can see Cinder taking Oscar hostage in an attempt to force him to tell her how to summon Jinn. However Oscar playing brave refuses to tell Cinder anything no matter what threats she throws his way.
Infuriated, this leads Cinder to her back up plan —using Oscar as bait to lure out her main target—Ruby Rose.
Since working alone honestly didn’t fare well for Cinder last time, I’m going to assume that this is the one time Cinder might heed Raven’s old advice and stick close to Neo so that she could make more use of her little pawn.
I can picture Cinder and Neo working together to get the Relic from Oscar first. However, when they fail to unlock its power; with no dice from Oscar either, the Fire and Ice-cream Duo decide to switch tactics to a more ‘kill two birds with one stone’ type of deal. Not only is the Relic now in their possession but they also had Oscar—a friend to Ruby Rose— who they can now use to lure the unsuspecting little red rose into a trap. So that’s how I can see Oscar being placed in danger with Cinder and Neo. But that’s only if they go after the Relic first.
Here’s what I think could happen using the Relic headcanon:
In V7CH9, Ironwood told Oscar specifically to return to Atlas Academy. The PLOT made sure to draw attention to that very detail.
“…Oscar, I think it’s time you get back to the academy.”“I think you’re right.”
The General also informed everyone that he was going to see to stopping Watts and Tyrian himself. Whether that means that the General will be doing that on foot or not, I’m assuming that Ironwood is probably going to take his own airship and scout Mantle for Tyrian and Watts specifically. The PLOT made sure to highlight that little detail too.
“…What about Watts and Tyrian?”“Leave them to me.”
That being said, while James goes out to find Watts and Tyrian, I’m assuming Oscar will be taking his own separate transport to return to the Academy. Or…so we’re lead to believe. If I remember correctly from the end of last volume, Cinder and Neo are supposed to have their own air ship. Either way, it all sounds like Oscar will be alone at Atlas Academy.
So for the sake of where I’m going with this hunch, let’s say—either on the way to the academy or from the moment he returned safely to the academy, Oscar is assaulted by Neo and Cinder.
Let’s say…the horrible thing Neo ends up doing is using her illusions to trick Oscar into thinking she was Ruby (or another female character else he would openly trust and let his guard down under). Then while Oscar is distracted, Cinder sneaks up behind him and knocks him out.
With Oscar unconscious, Neo ensures to have the boy properly subdued while Cinder takes hold of Oscar’s Scroll. Let’s say…Oscar was keeping abreast of everyone’s progress down in Mantle from Atlas, using JNR or RNJR as his key correspondence. With Oscar’s Scroll, Cinder contacts Ruby.
Down in Mantle, Ruby receives an incoming call from contact handle “Cute Boy Oz” or “Cute Farm Boy”. Thinking it’s Oscar checking in, Ruby answers only for her heart to drop when it’s Cinder’s menacing voice she hears on the other line.
Let’s say…Cinder gives Ruby an instruction she had no choice but to complywith. The Fall Maiden basically threatens Ruby to come alone to a specific spot in Mantle without telling her comrades anything, otherwise Cinder would kill Oscar; just like how she killed Ozpin.
So for the second time in the plot, Ruby is forced to lie—this time to her comrades as she heads off on her own to save Oscar from Cinder. However when Ruby arrives in the exact location Cinder told her to meet her, instead of finding Cinder waiting for her with a hostage Oscar, the little red rose encounters only an illusion of Cinder with Oscar that immediately shatters the moment shemakes contact with it as Neo appears before her.
Cinder did tell Neo that she would leave the killing of Ruby up to her. So this is where they would duke it out. Meanwhile, somewhere else, Cinder is observing the battle from afar with Oscar still out cold and retrained in the background. However Oscar eventually regains consciousness. Let’s say…similar to the airship crash back in Argus, Oz returns once again to help Oscar when the ole soul sensed that his younger protégé was in mortal danger. Let’s say…Oscar only wakes up because he heard Oz’s voice screaming desperately for him to open his eyes.
Long story short, let’s say…with Oz’s help, Oscar gets the upper hand on Cinder before making his daring escape.
Taking notice of Ruby’s battle with Neo from over yonder Mantle, let’s say…Oscar tries his best to make it to Ruby’s side to help her out while trying to manoeuvre his way around Mantle to outrun a pursuing Cinder Fall now gone full Maiden form again—thus sparking their inevitable rematch too.
I’m still iffy on the whole concept of Fire and Ice-cream going after the Relic first since Ruby has been their established target since V6. I have a greater chance at believing they’d take Oscar purely to lure out Ruby, with the fact that he has the Relic being a key reason for them to target him specifically out of all of Ruby’s friends.
Since y’know, after they use Oscar to get to Ruby and kill her, they can always kill Oscar afterwards and take the Relic. Two little birds with one stone, as I said.
That and the fact that Oscar is also the most vulnerable right now since everyone will be down in Mantle (including Ironwood). That’s how I can picture things going down in the event that Cinder and Neo do go after Oscar first.
Overall, this squiggle meister just wants to see the Rosebuds vs Fire and Ice-cream in the Rematch of the century. All so it can possibly culminate in the following:
Oscar unlocking his semblance to save Ruby.
Oscar and Ozpin possibly fighting together as one with Oz lending Oscar his power to fully make use of the true power of the Long Memory.
Oscar defeating Cinder and withdrawing the Fall Maiden magic from her—unlocking his own magical potential while providing Cinder another incentive to hunt down the Winter Maiden for V8 (I have a feeling that Neo and Cinder will survive till V8. I can easily see Neo using the same illusion trick she pulled with Roman back in V2 to allow her time to escape with Cinder).
Oscar and Ruby sharing an actual “Rosegarden romance foreshadowing moment” together which parallels the scene from the Lost Fable where Ozma and Salem first fell in love after escaping the perils of the Lonely Tower together; thus hinting that Ruby and Oscar might be falling in love with each other after escaping Neo and Cinder after trying to save/protect each other.
Those are my views on that. I could be very wrong in my ideas on this but it’s worth a shot sharing, right?  Hope it answers you all the same, Dagger.

I'm thinking Oscar has a semblance that is associated with life and time while leaning towards something that helps to prevent himself and others from being harmed. What do you think his semblance is without including Ozpin's magic?
Tumblr media
Technicallyit’s Ozma’smagic. I know Ozpin is technically the lastculmination of the Wizard persona in Ozma’s legacy but still, the wizard magicwas firstly Ozma’s as he was born with that power from his original timeline. So it’s his magic and if my Pinehead headcanon aboutOscar being thetrue Ozma as the reincarnation of hisoriginal form resurrected in Modern Remnantis proven correct, then by extension it will be Oscar’s magic. But that’sanother theory.
Anywaysto answer your questionanon-chan, previously, I figured Oscar would have a mind or mental-basedsemblance such as telepathy or the ability to connect to one’s very soulthrough their minds. Something torival that of EmeraldSustrai since she’s the onlycharacter who possessed such a unique kind of power. Well, she was until more info was revealed on Yatsuhashi Daichifrom Team CFVY in RWBY After the Fall. But spoilers.
Asof now, my main concept is that Oscar’s semblance will beNullification. With this ability, he’d be able to temporarily disable or negate the effects of another’ssemblance rendering the individual powerless to use it. It was inspired by a theory video by RWBY Youtuber ThatKaitoDan.If you’d like to hear me go more in depth on this theory, you can check out this musing post.
Ifigured Oscar would have a power akin to Energy Bending from A:TLA where he canstop someone for using their semblance temporarily while the permananet effectwould be what his power does to the Maidens. I like this idea since it correlateswith another Pinehead headcanon I have. If Oscar’s semblance is one thatnegates another’s semblance then I had this idea of what if…thiskind of power is revealed to have a special effect onthe Maidens. Whatif…through unlocking hissemblance, Oscar gains the additional abilitiy to relinquish a Maiden of Ozma’smagic; starting with Cinder Fall.
Mytheory is that CinderFall and Oscar will have a rematch at some point and during such a heatedbattle, Oscar will awaken his semblance (possibly triggered by Ruby being indanger) and to Cinder’s surprise, the farm boy’s newly awakened power will enable him to take Ozma’s magic backfrom her. On regular huntsmen, Oscar’s Nullification semblance will preventthem from using their semblance within his proximity whereas on the Maidens, his power allows him to take back the magic.
Ireally like the idea of Oscar possessing this kind of ability. To me, it suitsand more or less fits in with what we’ve learned thus far about him, Ozma’slineage and the Wizards of Light. In his past life as Isaac the Hermit, Ozmagave his magic away freely to create the original Four Maidens of Magic. Ithink it would be cool as a good contrast if Oscar unlocks a power that is theopposite of Ozma’s. Instead of giving.
His power would be to take back. To cancel one’s power. Stop it entirely.
Tumblr media
That’smy theory and I’m sticking with it. Hope that answers your question anon-chan :D

Pinehead Headcanons: Oscar’s Backstory: A Squiggle Meister’s Concept
Tumblr media
Like many Pineheads, I’ve shared many theories in the past regarding Oscar and his background with his family. This is my most recent headcanon for Oscar’s story and the one I’m most fond of at the moment:
Tumblr media
For most of his life, Oscar lived with his mother. Her name was Dorothy Pine---your typical Mistralian-born farm girl who married a dust miner---your typical job for those folks from Anima who didn’t pursue the huntsmen lifestyle.
Oscar never knew his father since he passed away before he was born. Despite this, his mother would always tell him stories about him whenever Oscar got curious about him.
Although Dorothy mostly raised Oscar, she had help from her relatives---her aunt Em and Uncle Henry. It was ole Henry and Em who raised Dorothy as their own child when she came to them as an orphan and they didn’t hesitate to extend the same nurturing care again to their great-nephew after he was born.
Oscar and his mother lived not too far from Aunt Em and Uncle Henry. As a matter of fact, the ole Pine family farm was located just a few miles uphill from Oscar’s original home beyond a forested narrow road paved by yellow bricks. Travelling up the ‘yellow brick road’ with his mother during those times they would visit his aunt and uncle was a memorable part of Oscar’s childhood growing up in the farm lands.
When he was a little boy, Oscar had a former childhood best friend who was his neighbour growing up with his mother. However that very friend ended up moving away to another kingdom when Oscar was 7 years old. (See Oscar’s Other Rose)
Aunt Em was like a second mother to Oscar, doting on him and being rather overprotective of him as much as his mother was.  The only person who didn’t coddle Oscar was his Uncle Henry.
My theory is that Aunt Em is a pretty young aunt---roughly a few years older than Qrow Branwen with time being very good to her in terms of her beauty at age 52. If I had to picture Aunt Em, I’d picture her being as young-looking as Marisa Tomai who plays a younger Aunt May in Spiderman: Homecoming and Far From Home. My theory is that Aunt Em was a young women in her early twenties when she met Uncle Henry who was in his early forties. Despite him being roughly twice her age, Em loved Henry as much as he loved her and didn’t hesitate to become his wife when he proposed to her.
Oscar shared a close relationship with his Uncle Henry. Besides being his father figure, Henry was a mentor to Oscar. Taught the young boy everything he knew about everything he knew about. To Oscar, Uncle Henry may not have been the brainiest man in Remnant but for the things her was good at---such as farming and tool engineering/repairs, the man was a clear master of his trade and he didn’t hesitate to pass that knowledge onto his eager young nephew.
Apart from being a farmer, Uncle Henry knew a thing or two about machinery. When Oscar was growing up, he used to assist his uncle in his old workshop and that’s how the two would bond.
Dorothy didn’t exactly like the idea of Oscar helping Henry in the workshop or the farm because she was scared he might get hurt from playing with the tools. However Henry would always assure her that he wouldn’t let any harm come to Oscar. He would say this while simultaneously giving Oscar the okay to use sharp power tools---with supervision, of course.
For 11 years, Oscar lived a simple yet  peaceful life with his family going about his day to day. However that happy childhood didn’t last unfortunately.
When Oscar was 12, he lost his mother after he found her dead upon returning home from another day spent working with Uncle Henry.
My theory is that Oscar’s mother was killed by a wild Beringel Grimm that had rampaged through his neck of the woods one stormy afternoon. That same beast then found itself near the home of the Pines. Dorothy had heard a noise and believing it to be Oscar returning home, went to greet him like she always did and...that’s went it got her. That same Beringel also blindsided and attacked Oscar while he was frozen on the spot, traumatized by the sight of his mom dead on the floor. The beast ended up banging Oscar up pretty badly, pinning him against the ground while pressing down hard on his back til the point where Oscar couldn’t breathe.
Fortunately, Oscar is saved from the Beringel by his Uncle Henry who came to his rescue, guns blazing.
Oscar spent a year hospitalized for his wounds coupled together with dealing with the trauma and depression of losing his mother. The care costed his Aunt and Uncle more than a penny in terms of medical expenses but it was a sacrifice they willingly made for their nephew especially in those difficult times.
After Oscar recovered, he went to live with his Aunt and Uncle full time. During that time, Uncle Henry became Oscar’s rock and moral compass as he helped him through most of his motions.
But eventually, when Oscar was 13, his Uncle Henry suffered a stroke which left him in a rough state. Though his Aunt Em did her best to care for her husband and Oscar helped as well by taking over most of the housework his uncle used to do, it didn’t change the fact that Oscar had to slowly watch his Uncle---the closest thing he had to a father- slowly deteriorate before his eyes.
Ultimately Uncle Henry passed away as well and it was then only Oscar and Aunt Em. After his uncle passed, that’s when Oscar offered to work on the farm fulltime as a farmhand, taking over from his uncle. After Henry passed, Oscar saw himself as the man of the house. He promised his uncle that he would look after Aunt Em and take care of things around the house the same way he did---just like Henry taught him. For Oscar, taking up that responsibility was his way of coping with the grief of losing both his mother and then his uncle within the same time.
In the beginning,, Aunt Em was willing to oblige by this for Oscar’s sake emotionally. However, ultimately, after Oscar turned 14 and was clearly getting older, Em had to pull Oscar aside and prompt him to start thinking about his own future.
I like the idea of Oscar’s desire to be more than just a farm hand being a private thought he never disclosed even to his Aunt because at the time, it was desire he kept himself from openly admitting given the responsibilities he had saddled on himself for the sake of the only family he had. I’d like to believe Aunt Em knew of Oscar’s true feelings and did her best to urge him toward thinking more about his own future.
By my head-canons, Oscar actually left home on good terms with his Aunt Em. My theory is that after Oscar has the conversation discussing his future with Em, as fate would have it, that was the time he first fused with Oz. My theory is that before Oz revealed himself to Oscar in V4, Oscar actually first connected to Oz in a dream during the time Oz was about to die. I described that idea in more detail in this RWBY Musing.
My theory is that Oscar actually saved his aunt and his home during a Grimm attack that pillaged their farm. It was the first time he and Oz had switched minds. After that, Oscar left home with his aunt’s blessing. This is another theory I described more in depth in this headcanon right here.
Tumblr media
And that’s basically it for my take on Oscar’s backstory. I hope we get to learn more about Oscar’s story in the actual canon for V7. Fingers crossed for that. It always intrigues me how each of us have our own takes for Oscar’s story. It’s been fun learning other Pinehead’s concepts and I hope you guys like mine.

Pinehead Headcanons: Oscar the New Year Baby
Tumblr media
I’ve talked one or two times about Oscar’s birthday and what his potential birth date and astrological sign might be. In this past, this squiggle meister was banking on the theory of Oscar being revealed as a Taurus sign with his birthday falling within the Easter month of April, making him an Easter baby.
While April 21st  is still one of my choices for Oscar’s official birthday, recently I’ve considered a second option for Oscar’s birthday. I know there are one or two Pineheads hoping that Oscar is actually a Christmas baby. For Oscar to be born around Christmas, that would make him a Capricorn sign.
Just like last time, I checked out the characteristics of the Capricorn-born personality and, while not nearly as on the nose as the Taurus personality (at least in my opinion), the Capricorn personality can apply to Oscar as well:
Has a maturity beyond her or her years
Tumblr media
Tends to be very much into reading
Tumblr media
Often finds comfort in those that are older or more advanced
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mild-tempered but will express disapprovals or annoyance often
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Usually has hand-selected few friends
Tumblr media
(RNJR will be Oscar’s Inner Circle and you can’t tell me otherwise, dagnabbit!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Capricorn is also another Earth Sign like Taurus. Part of my reasoning for jumping on the Oscar is a Taurus bandwagon is because like most RWBY theories, I pegged earth to be Oscar’s signature element given his former farm hand upbringing and earth-based colour scheme. So I like that the Capricorn sign still fits in with this concept. According to TheZodiaccity.com, Earth horoscopes are:
Not the fondest of change or new situations, but will do what is necessary.
Tumblr media
Are prone to feeling “not good enough”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They appreciate honesty and truth, although they hate to hear it
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Can be stubborn, but in the sense of staying true to themselves and goals
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Their inner, deep feelings can remain a mystery until you dig it out of them
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Extremely driven and focused, with a desire to ultimately succeed
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Highly sensual…for the right person
Tumblr media
It is also mentioned that Capricorn are most compatible with Scorpios. Ruby is a confirmed Scorpio so that fits nicely with this hunch.
“…The Capricorn man is quiet and reserved but very intelligent and practical. They make excellent and stable lovers and partners.”
Quiet and reserved but very intelligent and practical. Yep! Sounds like our precious freckled farm boy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If Oscar is a Capricorn-born, this fits with all those Pineheads wishing for him to be born on Christmas. The Capricorn birthday falls between December 22nd and January 20th.
Tumblr media
If I had a second choice for Oscar’s astrological sign, it would be Capricorn. Capricorn is my second choice for Oscar’s sign and what I like about the Capricorn birthday is that two important holidays fall within this sign: Christmas and New Year’s.
I still wish to believe that Oscar was born on a holiday just to share that cohesiveness with Ruby who was born on Halloween, according to the CRWBY.
Let’s consider Christmas first. Technically you can say that Ozma and the Wizards of Light are the ‘Jesus’ equivalent in the RWBY-Verse. Christ, (according to the Roman Catholic religion I was raised under) was born on Christmas Day to be the saviour of the world who was ultimately crucified and died on the cross for our sins. He was also brought back to life.
Technically that’s not too far from Ozma’s story, minus a few details. Ozma was a valiant warrior of light who ultimately died of sickness. The God of Light resurrected Ozma so that he may save humanity from falling in to complete anarchy and risk their world being completely wiped out by the Gods on the proclaimed Judgement Day should the Brothers ever be summoned back to Remnant via the gifts they left to humanity.
Tumblr media
Oscar is the current incarnation of Ozma (and by my headcanon, his one true incarnate as the personification of his original form resurrected in Modern Remnant buuuuut…that’s still up for debate). As one of the Wizards of Light, Oscar is tasked with protecting humanity and ensuring its survival. When you consider the Christ reference, making Oscar’s birthday Christmas Day doesn’t sound too bad. It actually fits quite well.
And unlike Easter, which official date changes with each year, Christmas is a fixed date. It is always December 25th just as how Halloween is always October 31st.
So for the folks who wish for Oscar to be born on Christmas Day, there’s your justification if you needed one. Oscar the Christmas baby is a nice idea.
However; that’s not the title of this Pinehead headcanon of mine, now is it?  I like the idea of Oscar being born on Christmas Day, I really do. But I actually have another idea that fits just as good or even better.
How about, instead of Oscar being a Christmas baby or even an Easter baby, what if…Oscar is a New Year’s baby. Imagine if…Oscar is Baby New Year.
Why is Oscar being Baby New Year perfect ?
Tumblr media
New Year’s Day is another fixed date like Christmas. It’s always January 1st.
January 1st falls before January 20th which would still make Oscar a Capricorn sign.
A common term for Oscar within the Pinehead community is ‘baby’ due to him being the ‘baby’ of the heroes as their newest, youngest member.  Baby = Baby New Year.
Baby New Year symbolizes the ‘birth’ of the next year and the ‘passing’ of the prior year; in other words, a ‘rebirth’. This point fits with the theme of reincarnation being a part of Oscar’s story as a Wizard of Light.
According to Wikipedia, the myth most associated with Baby New Year is that he is a baby at the beginning of his year, however he quickly ages until he is elderly (like Father Time) at the end of his year. At this point, Baby New Year hands his duties to the next Baby New Year while he either dies or remains in this state and retires.  I really like this titbit because it reminds me of how the Ozma cycle works. When a Wizard of Light dies, his memories, powers and responsibilities are passed on to his next chosen successor while the soul of the previous Wizard becomes a part of the persona that will ultimately be fused with the soul of current Wizard during the Merge.
Again, as much as I like Oscar the Christmas baby and as much as I’ve always vouched for him being an Easter baby, Oscar the Baby New Year Pinehead headcanon is slowly winning me over.
Tumblr media
Plus…as a New Year’s baby, I like the idea of their being a tradition in Oscar’s household where he actually gets two birthday parties in a sense. One on the Eve of his birthday (since it’s New Year’s Eve) and one on his actual birthday which is New Years’ Day.
I also love the idea of their being another birthday tradition for Oscar, where he always got kisses at midnight on New Year’s Eve since it would be his birthday. Like as the New Year countdown starts, Oscar’s female relatives used to kiss him on the cheek and the amount of kisses he got correlated with how old he was going to be that year with the final kiss being at midnight on the dot, marking the New Year and his birthday.
Picture…a birthday like that with Oscar and the heroes.
Picture it. 11: 45, New Year’s Eve. 15 minutes before Oscar turns 15. So as the countdown starts, for every minute that passes, Oscar gets a kiss on the cheek from all the girls on the team with the final kiss---the fifteenth kiss coming from Ruby. But…she doesn’t just kiss him on the cheek.
Like imagine…Maria, Nora, Yang, Blake, Weiss---each kissing Oscar on both cheeks. And for the sake of this hunch of mine, what if…and this is a super mega big ‘if’…General Ironwood does something incredibly sweet for Oscar on beseech from Ruby and has Oscar’s Aunt Em flown out from Mistral to be in Atlas in time for Oscar’s birthday (and the beginning of the New Year).
I know it’s very unlikely but again; for the sake of this theory, let’s say… Aunt Em is present for when her nephew is about to turn 15 and gets to give her two kisses during the countdown.
This leaves Ruby Rose with her two kisses including the last one. Although Ruby insisted that the fifteenth kiss should go to Em, Em gave Ruby her blessing since she is the one technically looking out for Oscar in her place while he’s in Atlas and training to become a huntsman. So in Em’s eyes, the final kiss should come from Ruby. Think of it like a passing of the torch sort of deal from one woman who cared for Oscar to another.
So as the minutes countdown, Ruby kisses Oscar twice on both cheeks as expected. However at midnight, for the final kiss…she does something unexpected. She leans in and kisses Oscar square on the lips. It’s a quick kiss but it’s enough to render Oscar speechless and blushing like crazy. Same for Ruby. Though she composes herself a lot better than Oscar so she could say to the freckled farm boy with great big smile “Happy New Year and Happy Birthday!”
Tumblr media
Tell me that doesn’t sound like a cute concept. Since V5, I have mainly maintained my headcanon of Oscar being an Easter Baby. I have kept this theory alive and strong. But now. Now I think I’ll have to make that my second choice. Oscar being Baby New Year sounds too perfect.
Not to mention that guys….do you know what the birthstone and lucky colour for Capricorns are?
Ruby and Red.
Tumblr media
I mean…if the shoe fits then wear it right?
To my beloved Oscar the Easter-born Taurus theory:  you’ve been a terrific Pinehead headcanon. One I still hold dear to my heart. But at this moment you will have to settle for second place since Oscar the New Year’s had won me.
I know I said once upon a time in a galaxy far, far away that until the CRWBY confirms Oscar’s birthday, I will celebrate it as April 21st cause of Easter.
I change my mind. From henceforth, until the CRWBY Writers confirm Oscar’s birthday, this squiggle meister shall treat and celebrate New Year’s Day (inclusive of New Year’s Eve) as Oscar’s fanon birthday.
Oscar is Baby New Year by the power invested in my Pinehead headcanons and you can’t tell me otherwise until Miles and Kerry say no-no.

Do you guys remember my RWBY Musing #71? Remember a time I shared a theory about Oscar basically becoming RWBY’s version of the Golden Cap and gaining the power to control the Winged Beringels created by Salem?
Tumblr media
Whelp…it’s back! I’ve had this nagging idea swimming in my head for the longest while and last night, I finally got around to squiggling a little concept rough sketch of it. As I said, I’ve talked about Oscar turning Salem’s winged Beringels against her before. Now I’ve taken that idea a step further in the sense of, what if…Oscar doesn’t just relinquish control of the Winged Beringels from Salem but changes them entirely.
Imagine if…Oscar somehow purifies these Beringel Grimm, transforming them from creatures of darkness to creatures of light. For the sake of this headcanon of mine, I dub these creatures of light as the ‘Creatures of Luxx’. It’s a play on the word Lux which is Latin for ‘light’. The idea I have is that Oscar creatures the Luxx through purifying the Grimm.
We know that the God of Darkness used his powers to first create the Grimm. I find it fascinating that there is creation in darkness since the Darkness used his creations to destroy his brothers. Just as how there is destruction in light since the Silver Eyed Warriors, who are believed to possess the eyes of the God of Light, use their light to preserve life by destroying the Grimm who are creations of darkness. I just find that bit fascinating.
Anyways; since Oscar has a bit of God of Light’s power within him, what if… it was possible for him to…I dunno, make his own creations through the use of light magic? And his first test of this is by creating the Luxx from the Grimm?
Up until this point, the Grimm have mostly been treated as fodder. Their entire purpose is to destroy since that’s been in their programming from birth. But what if there is a semblance of humanity to the Grimm somehow. Somehow I’m imagining a How to Train Your Dragon moment with Oscar and one of the Winged Beringels he managed to turn to his side.
I really would love to see Oscar take control of the Winged Beringels from Salem since it’ll be such a nice call back to the Wizard of Oz. In that story, the Winged Monkeys were actually cursed creatures controlled by an artifact known as the Golden Cap. The Winged Monkeys were bound to serve whoever possessed the Cap for a period of three times.  At some point, the Wicked Witch of the West gets a hold of the Cap and used the Monkeys to take over Oz.
At some point Dorothy Gale also uses the Cap, calling upon the monkeys’ aid during her remaining adventures in Oz. Till finally the Cap is handed to Glinda the Good Witch who used to cap to free the monkeys of their curse.
I think it would be great if the CRWBY Writers take advantage of this idea from the Oz story for Oscar. In the Wizard of Oz, the Golden Cap is described as studded with real sparkling diamonds and precious blood red rubies that ran entirely around the caps 24 karat solid gold brim. The Cap is made of gold hence the name. Who in Ruby alludes to this more than Oscar? You can’t get more golden than Oscar Pine. His first name literally alludes to gold. The Golden Cap was a magical artifact. Oscar is a reincarnation of an ancient being who possessed magical powers that Oscar has yet to tap into. This is a chance for the Writers to use this to push Oscar’s character.
We’ve seen Salem use her magic to create the Grimm. So if she can do that, then what’s stopping Oscar from using his magic to change the Grimm. To use his light to cleanse the Grimm of their darkness and turn them from beasts of destruction to creatures of preservation.
Yes I know this Pinehead headcanon is a mighty big stretch however…c’mon that could be so freaking cool if turned canon. At least it’s cool to me.
Canon or not, for now this squiggle meister will stick to using the Luxx in my own RWBY art and projects. I’m sharing this concept sketch since the Creatures of Luxx will be featured in my Bouquet of Roses. To further play off my theory, the Luxx Beringel is an early concept for Oscar’s steed and animal companion. A Luxx named Al, short for Alpha (and a call back to Fullmetal Alchemist) who is the King of the Winged Beringel Luxx who serve the Golden Rose.
The idea I have with this is that in the Bouquet universe, Oscar isn’t just our handsome prince of the Golden Yellow Rose but also a powerful magi and the Luxx are his creations. For all my ole school Sakura Cardcaptors fans, remember how Clow Reed was this super powerful wizard who created the Clow Cards?
Well picture Oscar being like that where the Luxx are his pets born from his power. I’d like to think of the Luxx as a less gruesome and grotesque-looking versions of their Grimm counterparts. For this rough sketch, I mainly just wanted to test the palette for the Luxx. I based it off the God of Light’s colour scheme from the Lost Fable considering that the Luxx are made of light born through the same magic that was bestowed to Ozma (and essentially Oscar) by said brother God.
Now that I’m satisfied with the colours, I’d actually love to design the Luxx. I want them to be the same as their Grimm opposites yet still possess something about their appearance that sets them apart. The Luxx are meant to be the Yang to the Grimm just as how the God of Light contrasts his brother so perfectly; even in their dragon forms.
When I think of the Luxx, I picture them being exactly like my squiggle sketch in colour---mystical creatures made of pure light that gleams gold. While the Grimm have red eyes and red markings, for the Luxx I wanted them to have green eyes with a hint of gold at the centre and green markings; a trait they share in common with their master and creator---Oscar Pine (whose eyes are hazel) to further push the notion that they are an extension of Oscar and his magic. I initially thought it would’ve been cool to have to Luxx have black masks to contrast the Grimm but I scrapped that idea in favour of the shared white masks. Who knows? I might bring it back in the refined version, perhaps.
Another reason why I wish for the Luxx to differ from the Grimm is because I don't want them to be confused for Summons. With the Schnees, the Grimm Summons are basically the same Grimm just recoloured white with blue makings to match the Schnees. I really don’t wish for anyone to denounce this idea of mine by saying that Oscar doesn’t need to have such a power when Weiss can do that. At least I can make the argument that Oscar having such a power ties into the fairy-tale he was inspired by. I never quite understood the need to give Weiss summoning abilities when she’s already pretty powerful with her Glyphs already. Heck I think that was even one of the complaints with her character by the FNDM but…here we are.
Unlike Weiss who can only summon a Grimm after she’s killed it, the idea I have for this is that Oscar creates the Luxx himself. The Grimm are more monstrous in appearance to match their destructive nature. I wish for the Luxx to contrast this. With the Luxx, the idea is for them is to look like purified versions of the Grimm we've come to know---whimsical and majestic in nature.
How that's gonna looks. Whelp, that’s for me to play around with and decide for myself since it’s my idea. But at least for now, this is a good starting building block. The only way I can elaborate on this idea further is do designs for Luxx versions of certain Grimm. I can safely say that there will be at least three Grimm turned Luxx featured for the Bouquet of Roses; starting with the Winged Beringel.
Come to think of it, this idea is starting to give me flashbacks to Sakura’s arc where she had to be powerful enough magically to turn the original Clow Cards created by Clow Reed into Sakura Cards. Imagine Oscar needing to become stronger magically as a means of successfully taking control of the Grimm from Salem, turning them into his Luxx. That could be a cool plot point for him.
Buuut like I said, I mainly plan on using this concept for my Bouquet of Roses and any other RWBY-related fan-project I might consider doing down the line. But it’s definitely an idea I wouldn’t mind seeing canon due to its strong reference to the Wizard of Oz.
Princess Ozma was a powerful magician. She was even stronger than the Wizard of Oz as its true ruler. Since the Wizard was Ozpin’s inspiration and Ozma is Oscar’s, how can I not expect great and powerful things from this young freckled farm boy? I’ve even thought of another cool way this Luxx idea of mine could be used in the canon series.
Besides the Winged Beringels, remember the Grimm Dragon? We know that back in V3, when the Grimm Dragon appeared it brought fought hordes of Grimm in its wake. This Grimm literally oozes other Grimm and since then I have yet to see another Grimm with such an ability to spawn more Grimm. That being said, with this theory of mine, it’s given me an idea. We know that as of V3, the Grimm Dragon is still pretty much alive. We know that Ruby’s Silver Eyes didn’t kill the Grimm Dragon; only petrified it.
If Oscar is indeed destined to become the RWBY equivalent of the Golden Cap and will somehow awaken the power to transform the Creatures of Grimm into the Creatures of Luxx, then picture this Pineheads. Imagine if…Oscar turns the Grimm Dragon into a Luxx Dragon; capable of creating more Luxx for Oscar to command. Therefore Oscar will gain a full army of Luxx through taming the former Grimm Dragon as opposed to allowing Ruby to finish it off with her power. Oscar Pine can straight up Daenerys Targaryen this bitch and become the Lord of the Luxx.
My fellow Pineheads, picture our boy going from a simple farm boy to a little prince and then finally to a King of Light leading his full grown army of Luxx against the hordes of Grimm while riding on the back of a mighty Luxx Dragon.
That sounds so freaking cool and it’ll depicts another cool way Oscar can be made into the great and powerful character he is destined to become! But, as much as I’d love to see this done in the canon, the possibility of this coming to fruition in main series RWBY might not be so high. At least in the sense that I don’t want to have too many expectations for Oscar’s character from the CRWBY Writers in the event of disappointment.
For all we know, the CRWBY Writers are more likely to have Weiss finish off the Grimm Dragon and turn her into the Daenerys Targaryen of RWBY with the Grimm Dragon becoming another one for her to Summon. She even has the hair for it so I can see that being more canonical than Oscar the King of the Luxx.
I’d still love to hold onto this idea for safe keeping though just like my other Pinehead headcanon that Oscar is reincarnation of Ozma’s original form in modern Remnant making him the one true Ozma. Like that one, I love this idea too much to let it go to waste. Hence why it’ll be featured in my squiggly fan-projects. Anyways, I’ve talked enough about this. Just wanted to share this for the Bouquet.
Look forward to seeing a refined version of the Al the Winged Beringel Luxx and Oscar’s other Luxx for Bouquet of Roses Part II. Coming soon-ish!

I think it be cool if we see Oscar as the person we see use plant dust caz I don't think we seeing it in show
Hello anon-chan! Uhm…I’m not quite sure if there is such thing as “plant dust” in the world of Remnant?
Hold on let me take a quick look. *Looks it up* Well whaddaya know! According to RWBY Wiki, plant dust is indeed a form of dust that exists canonically in the series and it’s stated in the description that plant dust is likely used for farming purposes.
That’s interesting. The closest to thing to any earth-related dust we’ve seen in the main animated series is rock dust. Going back to your question, while I’m not sure about the possibility of Oscar utilizing dust as a weapon, I still wish to stick with the Pinehead headcanon of Oscar using earth-based magic.
Tumblr media
Similar to semblances, dust is meant to replicate the elemental effects of magic which Oscar technically possesses. If it wasn’t for the sillyfact that the showrunners wrote in that Oscar is afraid to use magic due to it allegedly accelerating the effects of his inevitable merge with Ozpin which the little prince has voiced not being emotionally ready for---if it wasn’t for that then I could’ve totally seen Oscar using earth magic; having come from a farming background in an earth-based spring kingdom and continent.
Tumblr media
That’s what I would’ve liked to see. But given how the showrunners keep limiting how much magic Oscar can actually use, I think all us Pineheads can canonically look forward to is Oscar simply beating things with the Long Memory. That’s it. That’s all he’d be able to do now as of V8!
He can’t fully use the little percentage of magic he inherited from Ozma through Ozpin because it quickens the Merge (which is just ridiculous) and he can’t use too much of the built up kinetic energy stored in the cane cause it’d blow everyone to smithereens which is also ridiculous! I mean, why even give him these abilities if you’re just going to redact them later and make Oscar not use them at all moving forward? It seems like a waste of an idea.
All that’s left now is Oscar’s so-called semblance; to which…they BETTER NOT take that back too.
I just…as a proud squiggly Pinehead, I find it sooo increasingly frustrating how the showrunners keep nerfing Oscar at every stage in the most ridiculous ways. Let Oscar be great and powerful, dagnabbit! I’m not just saying that because he’s my favourite, I’m saying it because technically Oscar is supposed to be powerful!
Tumblr media
Him being powerful makes more sense than other certain characters in the show being powerful (*coughsWeisscoughs*).
Not only does he draw inspiration from Princess Ozma---the most powerful magic user in all of Oz in the Wizard of Oz series. But in the context of RWBY, Oscar is the current reincarnation of one of the last wizards in Remnant. The only person who has ever defeated Salem and would’ve ended her reign eons ago if the dynamic dumbasses that are the Gods of Remnant did not curse Salem with immortality and then left her wicked witch ass with that immortality for poor Ozma to clean up without a bloody clue how to revoke it.
Oscar doesn’t have to be brokenly overpoweredbut for Pete’s sake, at least allow him to be strong enough so we can finally move past seeing him just beat shit with a wind-up bulb on a stick! No shade at the Long Memory because I actually think it’s a cool weapon given its history and meaning. It’s just that it’s annoying knowing that Oscar can probably do A LOT more given his abilities yet the writers won’t let him…because PLOT!
If Oscar can’t use magic because of PLOT, then I like concept of him experimenting with the practice of using dust in combat as an alternative to magic.
That could be nice and it could be fitting to see him do this in Vacuo since I think, historically, Vacuo is supposed to have a great dust supply hence why the SDC wanted to capitalize on that in the past. It’s also a good way to see Oscar befriend Whitley since, technically, as of V8, isn’t Whitley Schnee officially the new CEO of the SDC?
Tumblr media
He was Jacques’ heir to the company after all replacing Weiss from V4. And given that Jacques is now deceased…that would make Whitley next in line as head of the SDC and overseer of all its dust mining operations and resources across Remnant. Basically what I’m trying to say is that I can easily see Whitley becoming a dust supplier to the huntsmen and huntresses currently stationed in Vacuo; inclusive of Oscar, Nora, Ren and Emerald.
I just like the idea of Whitley using his resources with the SDC to further assist the hero team which is inclusive of dust. And since V8 highlighted Whitley being the one who cooked up the schematics that the team needed for the creation of the channels they used to migrate everyone from Atlas to Vacuo, this also highlights a technical talent in Whitley that I’d like to see continued for V9.
Maybe even have Whitley partner with Pietro Polendina (believing that him and Maria are still alive since they were only awkwardly written out of the story for V8) to create some new dust-based weapons and tools for our heroes to use. That’s something that could be done too.
I just want to see Oscar have the big-brain epiphany that since he can’t use magic, his next best bet is to use an alternative method---upgrading and refashioning the design of the Long Memory to now use dust with Whitley’s assistance.
The last time we saw the Long Memory’s design change was with Henkle.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I think it would be fitting if the cane changed again with Oscar.
Perhaps... even use it as a way to symbolize Oscar finally accepting the Merge but still choose to do it his way by making it his own---leaving a part of himself etched into the new look of the weapon as his way of saying, even if he disappears, he was still willing to bank on a part of him living on in the new person he becomes---small yet extraordinary. Just like Oscar is.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now that could be a really, really cool idea if done in the canon and as I mentioned before, it could simultaneously be a good way to have Oscar and Whitley bond since there are still fans, like myself, who would like to see these young boys become friends.
But that’s just me spouting ideas on that as usual. Rant aside, I hope I actually answered your question anon-chan.

What are some hobbies u think Oscar has or interest he has be sides reading
Hello again Dreamer,
Well besides reading books, this squiggly Pinehead also likes to indulge in the Pinehead headcanon that Oscar enjoys writing especially since it’s been shown that he canonically enjoys reading fairy tales.
I liked the idea of Oscar keeping a special old journal that either his aunt or some other close relative (like his former parents) gifted to him as a young boy that he’s cherished since childhood and has been using to chronicle stories of not just his own life but also the lives of the people he’s met that have influenced him in some way. Kind of like a diary but I’d imagine Oscar would be too coy or even a wee bit embarrassed to call it that.
Tumblr media
I also liked the idea of Oscar sometimes keeping small sketches or random doodles in his journal in between his writing. While he may not consider himself an artist, I like the thought of Oscar actually being a decent sketcher while still being too shy to actually show anyone his drawings since they’re meant to be personal, very close to heart (as a reflection and depiction of his true inner thoughts) and thus private like his writing.
Tumblr media
Another potential hobby that I pegged would be terrific for Oscar is cooking. Nothing too fancy-smancy. Just something he liked to do from time to time since it reminded him of home, not necessarily with his aunt but more so with his parents (or perhaps Oscar lived closely with only one of his parents or came from a household where he might’ve had siblings).
I’m still holding onto the theory that Oscar had actually only been living with his aunt on her farm for a short space of time and had actually been bounced around several relatives (and maybe the occasional foster home) for a full 3-4 years after his parents’ death (according to my headcanons, that is).
I’d still like to stand by the prospect that Oscar probably lost his parents a lot more recently than the RWBY series likes to give off. My hunch is that Oscar lost his folks when he was at least 10 going on 11 or so. And like many things about him, my theory is that Oscar was probably never truly given the chance to process the live-changing events in his life---either because they happened so quickly and/or as a growing child, he was often encouraged to just “not think about it; just move on” and that’s how he learned to cope with things such as trauma and pain.
Since I’d like to stand by the belief that the whole Ozpin scenario wasn’t Oscar’s first running with being placed into an uncomfortable scenario that was beyond his control; where he really had no say in the choices that came from it despite it deeply affecting him or something to that extent.
I’d like to think that Oscar’s been treated this way his entire teenage life since he lost his first family and thus his current demeanour, as we see in the show, is what’s become of him as a result of that. But that’s a headcanon for another day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Getting back on track, bottom-line, Oscar struck me as the type of well-behaved kid who would be more than willing to help around in the kitchen. So I always figured or at least liked the concept of him being raised in a rather…I guess old-fashioned household for lack of a better term where all the family members contributed to the operations of the house and took turns doing their respective chores with cooking being one of them.
After the whole casserole incident of RWBY V6CH9, I know Pineheads alike clapped at the prospect of Oscar being able to cook (even better than Ruby since he made it all by himself while Ruby needed guidance from Ren). And while I still hate that episode with a bloody passion as a Pinehead for how Oscar was overall treated during it, I still liked that it at least gave us that little detail about him and I’d love to think that Oscar knows his way around the kitchen due to his upbringing.
So if he had to have another little hobby besides keeping a journal (or many journals), cooking would be the next one. Although, admittedly I like the journaling idea better since I think it more suits Oscar’s character in my opinion.
But anyways, that’s my headcanon for the little prince of RWBY. Hope that answers your question m’fam.

I won't be shocked if there's a Time skip at the end of volume 9 and Oscar is just completely gone like kidnapped or dead cuz I wouldn't be shocked if crwby just off him and never talked about Oscar again ,I hope they don't do that I like his character
…What?
Uhmm…I…would like to think that won’t be the case anon-chan ^^);
Speaking for myself here, naturally I have my own interpretations for how RWBY Volume 9 could potentially conclude Oscar’s story.
Tumblr media
Lately I’ve been toying with the notion of what if…the Staff of Creation was used on Oscar to separate the part of him that’s still very much Oscar from the remaining half that’s Ozpin-Ozma or the wizard soul?
As much as I didn’t enjoy Volume 8, the whole moment of it being used to grant Penny Polendina a new body of actual flesh and bone with a beating heart to house her human soul certainly opened up a door of possibilities. It definitely got me thinking of the possibility of the staff being used in a similar manner on Oscar, given his fears of the inevitable merge between him and Oz.
Tumblr media
Like I imagined this scene where Ruby shows Oscar to Ambrosius and asks the spirit to split the boy with two souls into two beings completely severed from one another so that Oscar would be his own person again.
I had this idea of Ambrosius being more than open to the challenge while simultaneously warning our heroes of the huge risk of splitting Oscar up at his current state in the Merge. After all, while Oscar may not be fully fused with Oz yet---let’s say… at this point in the story, Oscar and Oz had fused so much that it would be difficult for Ambrosius to divide him without complications.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At least with Penny, it was very clear for Ambrosius to differentiate her human side from her former robotic parts. However, in Oscar’s much more delicate case, how would the spirt of Creation be able to tell the difference between the souls especially when either had merged so much that not even an all knowing being such as Ambrosius could tell who is who.
While a stretch for the canon, this squiggly Pinehead still really wanted to toy with this possibility since I had this idea of Ambrosius successfully splitting Oscar but at a major cost.
Let’s say…that in order for the split to work, Ambrosius had to peer deeply into the memories of both souls and split them apart based on that.
Therefore whatever memories clearly belonged to Oscar, Ambrosius saved those for the little prince while the rest went to the other being---Ozpin/Ozma. However any memories the two souls shared together, that appeared fragmented, were removed to avoid difficulties with the split.
Let's say... it's something that Ambrosius HAD to do otherwise the whole process would be for naught.
Tumblr media
This meant that Oscar would get to be himself and only himself but all of his memories from the time he left his home farm back in Mistral to his time spent with the heroes working to save the world from Salem would be completely erased.
Oscar would get to regain his life as he wanted but, he would also have no recollection of his time with the hero team.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
To him, it would all feel like waking up from a really long dream which is synonymous of the very first scene we got of Oscar when he was first introduced by in V4 after waking up from a dream or rather a nightmare since it was hinted that Oscar might’ve dreamt about the meeting Salem had with her minions at the start of V4.
Tumblr media
Again, I know this concept seems like a huge leap and I’m not implying that this will happen in the canon for V9. I’m more saying that I wanted to consider a scenario of what if…Oscar’s story did conclude with him “dying” but not the way some fans and RWBY theorists might’ve interpreted.
Technically Oscar did die. Not the part of him that was still himself but the part of him that he shared with Oz. The part of him that would’ve most definitely fused with Oz if the Merge hadn’t been intervened by Ambrosius. So it’s a case where Oscar gets to live on but he has no recollection of his time with the heroes since mentally, those memories never existed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
However, emotionally; I’d like to think that Oscar’s heart would still remember his friends or rather the way they all made him feel during his time with them. Since in this imagined scenario I concocted, I also toyed with the thought of Ruby Rose often visiting Oscar in his “new life” through the future years.
Despite having no memory of this silver eyed girl, somehow Oscar felt like he wanted to know more about her due to a feeling he got whenever she came to see him.
A strong good feeling. A feeling of admiration, respect,  trust and perhaps something even more that blossomed over the years of the two getting to know one another from Ruby’s frequent visits in Oscar’s new life.
Tumblr media
It would be like a reverse Warrior in the Woods scenario where it is the warrior (Ruby) who continued to seek the boy (Oscar) throughout the years.
Tumblr media
I even have this idea of Ruby coming to visit Oscar during the fifth year since she returned him home only to find him preparing to leave on a journey. A journey which the young lad bashfully asks Ruby to join him on as the two had grown close over time in this new timeline and world due to the huntress’ visits.
However, for Oscar, he wanted more time with Ruby. More than just her usual visits to check in on him and to this, Ruby obliged and agreed to become Oscar’s companion on their own journey across New Remnant together.
Because while Oscar may not remember Ruby fully or was aware of the huge sacrifices and contributions he made to save her and humanity, Ruby remembered.
And thus, the little red rose was determined to remain by her prince’s side this time; still choosing to never give up on the side of him that was still connected to her in some way.
Never considering for one second that he was lost forever and firmly believing that someday, she would meet him again.
…Or something like that.
As I said, it’s just an idea that’s been buzzing in my head for some time. For me, this squiggle meister wants to believe in a happy ending for Oscar.
Tumblr media
And being the Rosegardening Pinehead that I am, I also want to believe in an ending that would deliver on what Miles said he and the CRWBY Writers wanted to do with the Rosegarden pair. Which is do more with them and have them potentially spend more time with one another to further deepen their bond.
I love Oscar a lot as a character too anon-chan as the proud squiggly Pinehead I am. All the more reason why I hope the little prince’s happily ever after is a good one.

Pinehead Headcanons: Oscar Saves Ruby
Tumblr media
At this rate, if we’re not going to get a “Ruby saving Oscar from Salem” type story then can we at least get a “Oscar saves Ruby from Salem” story instead?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean hey---look at Steven Universe? Steven Universe Future had a storyline where our main hero ultimately became the antagonist for the series finale needing everyone who Steven had helped in significant coming together to help him.
Tumblr media
I think it would actually be an interesting development if Ruby Rose got corrupted and turned into one of Salem’s Grimmoire Hounds---possibly the strongest of them all, forcing of all her friends to come together to save her this time.
Ruby is often regarded as this inspirational embodiment of hope who inspires everyone around her. Similarly, in his own series, Steven Universe was regarded as that type of character until the threads started to unravel and Steven eventually broke from all the trauma and pressures he endured from the responsibilities that were placed on him at such an adolescent age.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This season we saw Ruby’s leadership challenged by her older sister Yang. We also see her begin to waver a bit emotionally from the pressures of feeling helpless to stop or even help all of what was happening around her and her friends.
I guess bottom-line, what I’m trying to say is that I actually wouldn’t mind a story where Ruby---our titular main protagonist---is turned into a Hound for Salem needing her friends to band together to save her and be voices of hope for her this time.
Forget Summer Rose being revealed to be a Hound. Give me a subplot where Salem actually succeeds in snuffing Ruby out and turning her into a Grimm.
Give me a subplot where Ruby’s friends lose hope only for Oscar to rise up as become a voice of wisdom and guidance, not only restoring everyone’s faith in a manner similar to how Ruby  inspired him but also encouraging everyone that they needed to come together to help Ruby this time.
I want to Oscar to be like Connie. If Ruby was to be turned into a Hound then I think it would be great to see all of her loved ones uniting to help her for a change and it would be nice if Oscar is the one to lead the charge with that; similar to how Connie yelled at everyone to stop focusing on themselves and instead focus on helping Steven because in that moment, he needed them.
So I’d like to see this type of development done for Ruby. I mean, I doubt it’ll ever be canon. But it would’ve been nice. I’m still waiting to see what the payoff of the Rosegardening Rosebuds friendship and all the development between Ruby and Oscar from the past couple of seasons will be.
Tumblr media
Over the past few volumes, we’ve seen Ruby save Oscar and be a beacon of inspiration for the little prince. So this time, it would be nice to see a payoff from that where this time, Oscar is the one to help save Ruby and be a part of the many voices that would come together to save the little red rose lost to darkness.
That could be cool.

Pinehead Headcanons: Oscar’s Trust
Tumblr media
My fellow Rosegardeners and Rosegardening Pineheads, in light of this recent episode’s ending and development between our two budding smaller, more honest souls, take this consideration to thought, if you will.
I know most of us were disappointed with Emerald interrupting our Rosegarden reunion hug but…have you guys actually stopped to consider the possibility of Ruby…y’know…becoming just a teensy weensy bit jealous or at least grouchy at Oscar’s trust and faith in Emerald?
Tumblr media
Think about it. Let’s not forget that in the past, Oscar has always shown a great deal of belief and support in Ruby and has always been one to trust in her judgment even when he may not one hundred percent agree with it.
Tumblr media
However, this season highlighted Oscar expressing doubt in Ruby particularly following Yang calling her out in the first episode.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oscar didn’t really stand up for Ruby during that moment and he even chose Yang’s side to help Mantle over her side to go start up Amity. Yet here is Oscar---who, mind you, has NEVER met Emerald before. Doesn’t really know her like the others do. Isn’t fully aware of all the details of her history with the group.
Yet here he is willing to vouch for her good nature because of one good action she did which was assisting Hazel and ultimately YJR in his escape from Salem and Monstra. It took one act of good from Emerald to have Oscar willing to believe in the potential good she can do.
Why does this sound familiar?
Is it just me or is Emerald Sustrai starting to sound like Oscar’s equivalent of Qrow Branwen?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m kind of getting a Qrow vibe with Emerald’s budding relationship with Oscar as it was for Qrow and Oz. Not to mention that just like Qrow who came from a tribe of bandits and thieves, Emerald was also a bandit herself. She would pickpocket off of others to survive on the streets until she was found by Cinder Fall.
Oz was willing to believe in Qrow and the good he can do despite his insecurities regarding his semblance. And technically, Oscar is kind of doing the same with Em. Willing to believe in the good in her and the good her abilities can do despite all she has done in the past and I actually think that’s mighty sweet of him.
Going back to my early point---I’m not saying that I expect or even need to see Ruby become a bit agitated of Oscar’s trusting Em over her distrust. I’m more implying that it would be quite interesting if the little prince expressing doubt in his rose but faith in the street rat is brought up somehow in the canon.
Besides, in the first episode, Oscar said that every choice he’s made has been the wrong one. So I had this concept of Ruby feeling depressed at the thought of Oscar thinking that believing in her was one of those mistakes. Only for Oscar to reassure her that that wasn’t the case.
“…I’ve made more mistakes than any man, woman and child on Remnant but choosing to place my faith in you wasn’t one of them…”
I just would love to hear something equivalent of that said by Oscar to Ruby. But then again, this is just me.

Pinehead Headcanons: Oscar's Dreamscape: The Garden of Two Lovers
Tumblr media
@miki-13 asked "Okay I know we didn't get a lot of Oscar backstory, but I really do think that after the V8 finale, there's a new avenue to explore with Oscar. Why? Because as far as he knows, his friends, partner and love interest are dead. The people he's grown to care for over the course of V5-8 are suddenly gone. There's no way that's not gonna hurt him, even if Ozpin assures him that they're not dead. Because either way, he's been forcibly separated from them.
Heck, this could actually open up an avenue for him to talk about his own family life and why he lives with his aunt. Not to mention one of his allusions is to The Little Prince and he just arrived in a desert after leaving his Rose behind, and the whole story deals with death in general.
Actually, maybe that's how Oscar gets his semblance/ branches out with his magic! He wants to find the people he loves so badly and refuses to give up on them, that he finds a way to get the void/ communicate with them and possibly find a way to lay the groundwork for bringing them back!
Squiggles Answers:
Hey there Miki-chan. Pardon the late reply but I wanted to reserve my response to this as a new Pinehead headcanon post considering that, ironically, you and I share the same thoughts and theories about Oscar reaching out.
The idea I had is that Oscar would be able to connect to Ruby in the Other World in his dreams. Once again, I return to my old Oscar’s Dreamscape Pinehead headcanon from donkey years ago. Essentially, through his unyielding love for his rose and his deep desires to reunite with her again in some shape or form, Oscar unintentionally creates the Dreamscape.
And what the Dreamscape is is that it is this magical place that transcends reality and only exists through the shared bond between Oscar and Ruby. Picture a shallow stagnant sea that mirrors an endless sunset sky. A perfect blend of the warm embrace of the sun and the tranquil beauty of the moon that paves the path towards a small garden that sits in the middle of this mysterious magical place.
And it is in this garden where Oscar meets Ruby in his dreams and vice versa.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Remember how it was said that the Little Prince fairy-tale ended ambiguously with the reader never knowing the truth of the prince’s fate after he was poisoned by the snake and “went to sleep”.
Some iteration believed the prince to have died and gone back to his home planet in spirit to be with his rose while another interpretation described the Prince returning home only to discover that his rose had died in his absence without him present to take care of her.
Either way, the allusion is that the prince does indeed reunite with his rose but in a manner that is still tragic when you look at it. Going off of that, this is why I love the concept of Oscar connecting to Ruby in sleep with the two meeting and communicating with each other in their dreams through unknown power originated from Oscar. Only it’s NOT exactly a semblance. Nor is it exactly magic either.
One of my favourite quotes from the Lost Fable episode back in V6 is when Jinn described a power much greater than magic that caused Salem and Ozma to recognize one another in their new lives.
“…Call it magic or call it something stronger, but in that moment, the two knew exactly who stood before them…”

In the Lost Fable, Jinn made it seem as if loveis an element more powerful than even the likes of magic; as cheesy as that might sound. So if love is able to transcend life and death to cause two kindred souls to recognize each other in another life in another time time, what’s stopping it from transcending worlds to bring together another pair of kindred souls?
So as corny as this is going to sound, the hopeless romantic in me cannot help but swoon over the thought of love being what creates the Dreamscape and/or brings Ruby and Oscar together in such a place that only they can traverse.
It is a power that was born from Ruby and Oscar’s shared love for one another and desire to reunite with each other and thus it’s a power that only they share together. The Rosegarden in the Dreamscape is theirs.
In the beginning, on the first night the two reunite in their dreams, the Dreamscape was believed to be solely of Oscar’s doing but in reality, it was a special new world that belonged to both the little prince and his true rose alone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay, hear me out with this one. The reason why I’m thinking the Dreamscape was believed to be Oscar’s power alone in the beginning was because when it all started, the Dreamscape mainly reacted to Oscar. On his end, let’s say…Oscar wished so desperately to see Ruby again that unbeknownst to him; the Dreamscape was forged just so Oscar could accomplish his heart’s wish---to see his rose.
Thus, Oscar is able to see Ruby in their dreams and she in turn is able to see and talk to him between worlds but only in sleep. However, that is extent of the Dreamscape through Oscar’s influence. The two can communicate but they can’t physically touch or feel one another.
Because I have this idea of Ruby and Oscar growing closer to each other than they’ve ever been before since they’re able to meet in Dreamscape. However it’s also this painful thing where despite being together in their dreams, they’re still not together when they are constantly reminded that they can’t touch each other.
Like imagine a moment where the two rosebuds are bonding in the Dreamscape, trying to come up with way to reunite together, swapping backstories and secrets about themselves with each other that they’ve never told anyone else only for one of them---mainly Oscar--- to get lost in the euphoria of the moment and attempt to reach out and touch the other person only to be painfully reminded, that they’re not truly there. They’re still separated despite how close the Dreamscape has brought them.
The only time when the Dreamscape is actually able is to make Ruby and Oscar interact physically is when that becomes Ruby’s wish.
Okay, hear me out again.
I have this scenario in my head where Oscar suffers a mental breakdown as a result of being poisoned during an encounter with Tyrian Callows. Remember how Tyrian’s venom caused Qrow to suffer and hallucinate back in V4?
Well picture something similar with Oscar where he falls into a sort of light coma as a result of being poisoned. Let’s say…as a result of the venom, Oscar is transported to the Dreamscape where ALL of his inner demons---the true feeling and fears he’s been suppressing for a long time---suddenly manifest inside this world to torment him and berate him.
And let’s say…on the other end, in the Other World, Ruby becomes worried for Oscar’s well-being when he doesn’t make contact with her in the Dreamscape for some time. And let’s say…due to her connection with Oscar, which became stronger as a result of them bonding in the dream world, Ruby is able to sense when something is wrong with Oscar due to her having a weird feeling in her chest. Almost as if her heart was beckoning her somewhere else. To take her to the person she wanted to see who needed her help. Or something like that.
In a nutshell, Ruby is able to enter the Dreamscape on her own through her connection with Oscar. At first, Ruby mostly relied on Oscar to bring her to the Dreamscape but when Oscar was in trouble, Ruby used their link to take her there as an alternative means.
To make a long theory short, Ruby arrives in the Dreamscape to find the once magical dream world in dark chaos ---basically imagine being on the outside of a tornado.
The Dreamscape had turned into a rampant storm to reflect Oscar’s darkest inner emotions which were spiralling out of control before Ruby’s very eyes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Remember how in Steven Universe, in the episode that debuted the “Here Comes A Thought” song, remember how Steven’s true feelings about Jasper, Bismuth and his mother started to manifest before him and Connie while they were fused as Stevonnie during training?
Picture a moment like that with Oscar in the Dreamscape where Oscar’s fears take form---at first taking on the appearance of Oscar’s old self dressed in his old farm boy attire belittling Oscar for leaving home to be among people who he didn’t fully believe trusted or even actually cared him---unearthing Oscar’s thoughts and repressed emotions from the events of V6.
Then the Dreamscape manifests Ironwood to belittle Oscar for his repressed emotions from the events of V7. Then it transforms into Salem to taunt and humiliate Oscar over his repressed trauma as a result of being her prisoner during the events of V8 and being tortured.
You get what I’m saying, right? Whatever Oscar has been repressing for so long, the Dreamscape manifests it as a being of spite to through it all back in Oscar’s face when he was most vulnerable. Finally, as Ruby enters the fray, the Dreamscape takes on a new form.
Here’s another concept to toss onto the Fake Rose table. Imagine if…the Fake Rose isn’t another silver eyed warrior or rose-themed person who takes an interest in Oscar.
What if…the Fake Rose is actually a replica of Ruby manifested by the Dreamscape to reveal Oscar’s true feelings and fears in respect to Ruby?
Assuming that you’re an ole-school Potterhead like yours truly Miki-chan, remember the last book/movie?
Remember that one scene in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows involving the locket? Remember how the locket made an apparition of Harry and Hermione appear before Ron to voice his jealousy and inferiority when compared to Harry especially in the eyes of Hermione who he believed loved Harry over him.
Picture something like that with a Fake Ruby Rose---Mocking Oscar over his “childish” love for his rose, as if he actually stood a chance of being with her given the Merge and any other insecurities that Oscar secretly harboured that he’d supressed for so long.
Picture that. Imagine…something like that happening so that it could ultimately lead into Ruby denouncing ever fear of Oscar’s voiced by her fake copy as this rose---the one true rose did her best to comfort her prince.
It’s a moment where Ruby words unfortunately don’t reach Oscar. Thus, Ruby tries to one way she’s always reached out to him. Through a gentle comforting touch. In that moment, Ruby wishes for Oscar to feelher there beside him.
To feel her arms wrapped around him and the warmth of the hug she dared to give him since she wanted more than anything to be able to comfort him through the storm. And for a second time, through the power of love (mixed in with just a smidge of their share magic inherited from the God of Light possibly), the Dreamscape grants Ruby’s wish and Oscar is able to feel her for the first time since they met in the dream world. To feel her arms around him as she embraced him tightly with all the love and care for him she could channel in that moment.
And just like that, all becomes calm as the storm disappeared; softening to a gentle breeze against a beautifully sunlit sky; revealing two hearts embraced; once seperated but now together at long last in the world of their own created from their shared love.
Basically picture the Dreamscape as this magical world brought to life by the love and heart’s desires of two star-crossed lovers separated by fate and lost to two realities. Thus the Dreamscape mirrors the feelings and grants the desires of these two lovers since they are the rulersof said world as its creators. Thus it is a world that is only attainable by them. A world of their own. A world of dreams to grant the wishes of two lost souls in love.
I’d love to go more in depth into this revised Dreamscapeidea of mine for the Rosegarden pair. However for the time being, this is concept that I have in mind and is all that I have to share for now. What do you think?

Pinehead Headcanons: Oscar and the New World
Tumblr media
“…I thought the idea of falling through Remnant and into a new world was exciting…”
Guys, I’m curious about something. I’ve been thinking about the Remnant fairytale that Oscar mentioned back in the tenth episode. The one about the girl who fell through the world.
As us fans are aware, some Remnant Fairytales are actually relevant to the World of Remnant and may actually be variants of completely different stories that were true to its history as we saw with the Lost Fable tying back into the Girl in the Lonely Tower and the Tale of the Brother Gods fairytales, for example.
Keeping that in mind,  now I’m wondering something---How true is the Girl Who Fell Through the World fairy tale? True in the sense of…could there possibly be another world below Remnant that no one has ever traversed before? Not even Ozma? Or what if…this will be an adventure for our gaggle of heroes to venture ultimately?
Here me out on this one. As we’re well aware from the canon of RWBY, it was only the God of Darkness’ Grimm Pools of Darkness that seemed to have survived the test of time, right? However the question still remains of what ultimately became of the God of Light’s Fountain of Life of Creation that was last seen in the Lost Fable episode.
Tumblr media
Here’s this squiggle meister’s hunch:
What if…what we know to be the continent of Solitas in Remnant is actually the remnants of the Land of Light that formerly belonged to the God of Light in the Lost Fable?
Tumblr media
Have you guys ever wondered that there might be a narrative coincidence as to why Atlas was the kingdom of technological innovation that secretly housed the Relic of Creation?
What if…the remnants of the Land of Light and the Fountain of Life and Creation may be below the Kingdom of Atlas; deep below what we know to be Mantle’s crater?
Imagine if…the fragments of the God of Light’s Fountain of Life and Creation fell deep into Remnant’s core following the meteor shower from the Lost Fable and thus created a whole new world within Remnant but below its surface? A whole new world right below Atlas and Mantle that has never been discovered or explored by anyone.
Tumblr media
I know this concept sounds like a stretch but…I can’t help but shake this feeling about there might be a connection to the Atlas/Mantle and the Land of Light outside of the Relic of Creation. My reason for bringing this curious thought to light stems from some imagery from the V8 opening:
During the opening visuals, nearing the end, we’re shown a shot of our heroes all standing together before the ground gives way underneath Team RWBY with all four girls plummeting into what appears to be a pool.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’ve seen some theories where other RWBY theorists speculated that this may be Ruby falling into the Grimm Pool of Darkness---a sign of her ultimate transformation into a Grimm-Human hybrid as we saw with the Hound. However, upon further review of the screenshot, I don’t think that may be the case at all.
Here I have this shot of when Salem first dropped into the Grimm Pool during the Lost Fable.
Tumblr media
As you can see, there is a reddish-purple glow to her. Compare that to this screenshot of Ruby from the V8 opening.
Tumblr media
For Ruby, her sheen isn’t red. It’s actually kind of golden-white. The same type of golden-white sheen that was around Salem when she first fell into the Fountain of Light and Creation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again, keeping that all in mind, this brings me back to Oscar. What if…Oscar bringing up the Girl Who Fell Through the World fairytale wasn’t a coincidence?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What if…it was an intentional foreshadow to a possible event to happen later in the story? An event that would either greatly impact him or him and Ruby [as our two, smaller more honest souls] or perhaps the whole core hero team meaning RWBY_ALPN?
Tumblr media
Like I said, the V8 opening had the ground collapsing underneath our heroes with them falling through the ground. In V8CH10, Oscar mentioned a tale about someone falling through Remnant and into a completely new world.
So maybe…this is a sign for events to happen and how this volume might end?
Now pegs the important questions.
What would happen if our young heroes weren’t around anymore upon Salem’s resurrection?
What would become of Remnant if we didn’t have main young hero team working towards helping the people and stopping Salem from gathering the relics and bringing about Remnant’s destruction?
What would happen to Remnant if our heroes disappeared off the face of the earth and fell into a whole new world far from the one they knew?
What would become of Remnant if our heroes fell to a new world, leaving the old one behind at the mercy of Salem during a time when they are needed the most?
Tumblr media
This is the theory that I’m trying to make:
As stated in the recent episode, Oscar mentioned that the Long Memory possesses a tremendous amount of kinetic energy which Ozma and his lineage have stored and been farming for many lifetimes. We witnessed just how destructive that raw power can be. We also know that, according to Oscar, there is still good bit of that energy left in the cane; only to be used when necessary.
So here’s my thought. What if…at some point, Oscar is forced to use the last bit of kinetic energy. As a result of this, what if… the Long Memory is destroyed in the process and the crater of Mantle completely collapses, creating a massive deep hole in the earth that pulls any and everything surrounding it into its crevice like a massive black hole.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Let’s say…for whatever reason, Oscar becomes trapped in the destruction of the hole created by his weapon.
Tumblr media
Let’s say…it was some kind of heroic sacrifice moment for the little prince where he knew the risks of unleashing the last bit of the cane’s power and made it anyway since it correlated with the promise he made to his friends and team back in Argus.
Tumblr media
Back in V6, Oscar told the team that he would do everything in his power to help with the “limited time” he had left as himself. With all that’s happened to him for this season, it wouldn’t surprise me if that promise is brought back somehow.
Tumblr media
Resuming my theory, Oscar sacrifices himself and much like the heroine of one of his childhood fairytales, he ends up falling through the world. He falls deep into Remnant to a world unknown; possibly to be presumed dead or something.
Since this volume has highlighted the importance of Oscar being a part of the team---what if…the other heroes end up trying to save Oscar but this results in them falling into the hole with him; thus trapping all of them deep within whatever “new world” lies in the depths of Remnant’s core.
I know this all sounds like some big weird crackerjack of a theory in concept but with all the talk about “Happy? Never Again”, it makes me wonder if something terrible will happen to all of our heroes in the end.
Like they all end up being presumed dead by the end of the season, leaving the rest of the world forced to deal with Salem’s return without their advice or intervention any longer.
I mean I could be very much wrong in my hunches here. But nevertheless, I still wished to put it out there just in case anyone else might be having similar ideas.
All I can say is that I definitely think something big will happen for the team nearing this volume’s climax. I do think Oscar will end up using the last of the cane’s power. I also think the cane will be destroyed somehow since it was mentioned that Oscar using magic accelerates the merging process between him and Oz. Therefore, I’m definitely expecting something to happen to force Oscar to have to use magic from now on since the Merge is definitely something he will have to come to terms with in the end for the next stage of his arc.
So the Long Memory being destroyed, forcing Oscar to use his magic without it---which we’ve seen he can do already back when he zapped Salem in V8CH9---and thus finally come to peace to being ready to merge with Oz is something I can see happening next for him. I also think something major will happen for Ruby.
At least I’d love it if something major would happen for Ruby. What I’m not sure what that may be, either way I definitely feel something major happening for the team and I definitely think the Girl Who Fell Through the World might’ve been a foreshadow of some kind. Then again, this is just me speculating. We’ll know for sure as the story progresses and the PLOT for RWBY V8 thickens.

Pinehead Headcanons: Oscar’s Doubt In His Rose
Tumblr media
“…Every decision I’ve made has been the wrong one…”
Tumblr media
Are you sure about that Oscar?
(Are you sure about that Ozpin?) (Are you sure about that Ozma?)
Was choosing to place your faith in a a simple soul with an unquantifiable spark going to be one of those many decisions you may be starting to regret too?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the Little Prince story, it is in the rose garden where the prince lost fate in his feelings for his rose when he realized that she wasn’t as unique as he thought she was---no different than any common rose.
So will V8 mark the same resolution for Oscar as part of his story for this season? Is this little prince beginning to doubt and lose fate in his rose? Is he starting to see that she may not be as unique as he pegged her to be?
No different than any other common silver-eyed rose who has given her life to fight for humanity and has died in vain because of it.
Tumblr media
Something has been bugging me about Oscar’s interactions with Ruby in this first episode. Beyond his minor moment of blushing at her relief at finding him safe out in Mantle, something about the little prince’s reactions to his rose felt off to this squiggle meister however I can’t quite put my finger on why.
So I came up with this small hunch that perhaps Oscar might be starting to go through what his fairy tale counterpart endured in his respective story. Perhaps…Oscar is starting to express doubt in Ruby. He’s always been someone to support her and have full faith in her capabilities but in this first episode of V8, I couldn’t help but feel as if Oscar may fall into the side of those who will lose faith in Ruby all together as the spark who is supposed to be their beacon of hope in the darkness but has failed them.
Tumblr media
Interestingly enough, this wasn’t really where I was expecting Oscar to stand, to be honest. However I’m okay with this development given the parallel to the Little Prince. Then again, this is all just me speculating here over observations from one episode. Obviously I’m going to need more context for this hunch of mine and I could be very much wrong here. However I still stand by my feelings about Oscar’s response to Ruby.
Something feels off about how he is looking to her. But then again, this could just be me here.
