Valentine’s Day
Today was the day of love. Many people were spending time with their special loved one on this day. This was true for a young-minded animatronic as well. At least, that's how he wanted to spend the day. However, he found himself frozen in place instead. It didn't matter how much time they spent together, he still got nervous around her. With his friends, he feared doing something wrong and being suddenly hated. It was similar with her, yet he knew past his fear that she'd never leave him for a simple mistake. Even so, his grip tightened slightly on the stem of the flower he had picked for her. It wasn't much, but he couldn't exactly go out and get something. He worried it wasn't enough, since humans could do so much better. He had spend no less than a half of an hour deciding on the best flower he could find.
In his other hand, a picture he had drawn of the two of them. He knew he wasn't the best at drawing, but she seemed to like his pictures anyway. It was like she saw past the scribbles to the love he had truly put into it. Trembling, he reached to open the door to her room. Just as his cold golden fingers had touched the doorknob, he pulled his arm back. No! There must be some way to make this better! He quickly walked to the kitchen, his bare metal feet thudding heavily against the floor with the thought that he could do better today. He had convinced himself that it wasn't enough, not yet. Spending a little extra time, he made a small chocolate cake. It was just big enough for one person to enjoy. It was the best he could do. Chocolate, that was a thing that humans liked to give on this day. Hopefully that would bring enough joy to at least get a smile! Once more, he soon found himself at her door. Looking between the three gifts he had obtained, through searching or from his own hands, he thought one last time if it could be better. He sighed. This was his best. He shifted the items awkwardly in order to free one of his hands to open the door just a crack, then fixed himself and pushed it open with his shoulder. Upon seeing his face, before she even noticed he was holding anything, the young lady smiled at the golden animatronic. The bunny had suddenly become aware that his ears were drooping from feeling that he hadn't done enough, and quickly perked them up. He would not allow his ear and a half to show any signs of a single negative emotion. Not today. He'd focus on her, and she on him. He stepped inside and gently kicked the door shut behind him, since she didn't like it open. "I... I got you things..." His deep and rough voice never really matched the things he said. He was always happy, scared, or sad. He was rarely angry, an emotion his voice could easily express. Now was nervousness, a familiar feeling for the broken animatronic. "Aww, you didn't have to! Your company would have been enough!" She responded with a smile. Her tone was laced with the feeling that she was loved, a feeling that she had longed for since she was little. With him, it always seemed to be there. "I did have to though! Today is the day to do that! You've been good to me... You deserve something." He walked closer, joining her on her bed as he often did. He felt the urge to mess with something, a nervous habit of his, but suppressed it with the fear that he'd ruin something. "No I don't." She responded quietly. She took a deep breath before SpringTrap could present a rebuttal and pulled a couple boxes of sweets out from their hiding place under her blanket. "I got us some sweets to eat together. You haven't had some of this stuff, so I thought it would be nice for you to try it." She opened the first box, one of cookies, which immediately distracted the golden bunny from the previous conversation. "Oh that's... Ohhhh..." He couldn't find the words. Sweets, or rather food itself, had become a bit of a weakness for him. Vesna giggled, pleased with his reaction. She was about to remove a cookie when SpringTrap grabbed her wrist, preventing her from continuing. "Before we do that... Let me show you what I have for you." He felt like what she wanted would be something that would take some time, and he just wanted to get his part out of the way so they could both enjoy the rest of the day. He still wasn't convinced it was enough. He gave her the flower first. "It's so pretty!" She said that every single time she got a flower. She meant it, she was just bad at coming up with other responses for it. She loved the feel of a flower's petals more than anything else about it, which showed as she gently ran her thumb against one of them. He gave her the picture he had drawn next, putting his hand up to his face as soon as it was out of his hand. He was deeply embarrassed by it, since he didn't think he could draw very well. Vesna, meanwhile, was feeling deeply moved by it. "You're so sweet to me..." Those were the only words she could get out, feeling that she didn't deserve this. She didn't voice that though, her feelings toward her husband was more important, especially today. "I also made you one of those cakes that you like!" SpringTrap nearly shoved it into her hands to get her focus off his drawing. Vesna gently set the paper down next to her and took the cake from the robot. "Try it!" He hoped that he made it correctly. Her tasting it would be the only way he would know, so he was eager to see how it turned out. Vesna tore a piece off with the fork that SpringTrap had stuck in it and ate it, closing her eyes as she enjoyed the warmth and taste of it. She held back the urge to completely destroy it like she normally would and set it down, but not before having a few more bites. The bunny was delighted, noticing that she was having a hard time parting with it. "Cookie." Vesna said simply and resumed her previous wish to grab a cookie. She wasn't stopped this time, just watched with an unbreaking gaze. She brought the sweet to SpringTrap's mouth, offering it to him. He took a small bite, rather than just eating the entire thing. It was similar to what Vesna did, and for the same reason. They both wanted to savor these things today.
