About Spuffy & Souls, Part One - Yes, Souless Vampires Can Love
Of all the arguments people have about Spike as a character, and his relationship with Buffy, the debate on "Did he ever truly love Buffy, or anyone, while he had no soul?" has always felt like it was by far the silliest to me because the answer is REPEATEDLY made very clear in the show, and it is of course, you dumbasses.
"No Soul, Not The Same Person"
In the Buffy pilot, we are told by Giles that vampires are demons in the bodies of humans. They have access to the memories of the "former host", but are NOT the same, just a shallow immitation, stuck in their ways, unable to learn any kind of "human" emotion like compassion. This sentiment is echoed through the show many times - and is one of the main reasons why Buffy struggles to believe Spike's declarations of love. She finds it hard to believe he's either an exception to the rule or that said rule wasn't ever as set in stone as she thought.
But tell me one thing: If losing one's soul makes them a COMPLETELY different person, why does Angel as a show even exist and why is ANGEL seaking redemption for the things ANGELUS did? If they're not the same, shouldn't Angel be seen as just a completely innocent person that had his life/autonomy stolen away by a monster instead of a "monster that became more human" so to speak? Wouldn't that be the same as saying Buffy would need redemption if Faith had killed a ton of her friends after stealing her body - aka be completely unfair and nonsensical as a plot?
If they're not the same person, why did Angel once admit to Buffy that HE, not Angelus, wanted to sleep with and feed on her, despite the consequences? Why did he explicitly say "Is not the monster in me that needs killing, it's the man." Why do see that even BEFORE he became a vampire, he already acted like Angelus in some regards?
"Oh but that was Angel, not Spike, it doesn't count!"
Really? Then why does "Fool For Love", the episode that is meant to show us SPIKE'S backstory tells us about how WILLIAM was always looked down on and was a hopeless romantic that got his heart broken? Why is William's trauma being used to explain to us why Spike acts the way he does when Buffy rejects him? Why did she call Spike "William" when breaking up with him IF THEY ARE NOT EVEN SUPPOSED TO BE THE SAME GUY?
Why is Drusilla still mad at Angelus for killing her family and tortured him for it? Why is she still insane after her human mind was broken by Angelus and Darla? Wouldn't that technically not even be her trauma? Why were she and Spike told "You two reek of humanity" for exchanging things like affection and jealousy?
Why is Darla not having a huge identity crisis 24/7? She was human, got turned into a vampire, died, was brought back as a human with a soul, then turned into a vampire again - was it even the same demon that made her vampire both times? Why is her personality so consistent, including both vulnerability as a vampire and ruthlessness as a human with a soul?
Seriously, people. Joss Whedon might have WANTED to make vampires just shallow immitations of the humans they once were and completely incapable of experiencing true emotion and growth, but what he actually wrote through both shows makes it very clear that this is not actually true and vampires are often radically different from each other, with different levels of kindness to spare for other living (and undead) creatures.
Spike and William inhabit the same body, share all the same memories, and feel the exact same way about the exact same people - HOW are they not the same person?
Fake Love VS Unhealthy Love
This entire point can be perfectly summed up by Drusilla's in "Crush" when she explicitly hears Buffy say that vampires can't love, and corrects her by saying "We can love quite well, just not wisely."
The show had LOTS of relationships that were complicated and downright unhealthy, but were never shown as less genuine. Spike's love for Buffy has lots of toxic aspects through the seasons - obsession, possessiveness, entitlement, codependency, not caring that he's hurting her, not caring that she's hurting him - and it is genuine. Undeniably so.
That's why "both finales" (season 5 and season 7) end with Spike making huge sacrifices for her for purely sefless reasons. On the first he, without having a soul, vows to protect her sister "until the end of the world" and the intention was that, once Buffy died, he'd protect Dawn for the rest of her life, solely out of love for Buffy - love she can't reciprocate because she's gone, and that Spike already said he didn't believe she'd ever reciprocate anyway, meaning there's no "reward" he's expecting for this good deed. The second, "final" ending, has him sacrificing his life for her, and for the world, and when Buffy says she loves him, Spike says he doesn't believe her, yet it doesn't change his resolve.
Even season six, that has a TON of problems, mainly the hugely out of character moment that was the attempted rape in Seeing Red, ends with him willingly going through hellish torture to win back his soul, because he wants to stop being a monster, to stop hurting her.
The Writers Set Themselves Up For Failure
I know some people are probably reading this and going "But even if his love for Buffy was real, Spike is still a very complicated character and it'd make perfect sense for Buffy to not want to accept her feelings for him/be in a relationship with him" and I actually agree.
But that's not the conflict Whedon set up for 90% of the Spuffy drama - which is why Seeing Red felt completely out of place. The show was rarely ever questioning "Can Buffy, and even Spike himself, trust that he will not hurt her or others despite being a souless vampire?" or "Can Buffy live with the fact that the man she loves murdered lots of innocent people in horrible ways?" (this question was also avoided with Angel). Even his evil actions were getting toned down considerably, before the show even decided Spike had feelings for Buffy, because he was a popular, recurring/main character and if he got too evil, Buffy would stake him.
The conflict we were beaten over the head with was "Buffy believes Spike can't have real feelings because he's a vampire, Spike disagrees" - which makes anyone that isn't kidding themselves, regardless of them liking Spuffy as ship, inevitably side with Spike because we saw entire seasons of him, and other souless vampires, having real feelings, including for humans.
And with such a large portion of the audience already agreeing with him that, no, the lack of soul doesn't mean he can't feel, naturally that gained him a lot of sympathy, as he was 100% honest and correct (and again, being considerably less evil), yet was always treated either like he was being manipulative or just couldn't understand emotion and thus assumed his weird complex over Buffy was love (see her saying "I know it's real for you").
Combine that with the fact that James was an attractive guy, a damn good actor, and had a ton of chemistry with Sarah, and you have people who not only feel bad for Spike, but also want him to get the girl - especially when Buffy's boyfriend at the time Spike fell for her was the most boring character ever, whose "love" for Buffy felt a billion times more insincere.
Spike's love for Buffy was genuine. You can dislike the character/ship without denying that fact - because denying the obvious doesn't make you look smart. Quite the opposite actually.

Despite the many reasons I have for hating that Tara was killed off and thus not in Season 7, I am deeply upset that she never got to see Spike with a soul. She was one of the few characters that consistently had positive interactions with him in Season 6, and I think they would have been really good friends. She would have been proud of him, and still roasted him for being such a lovestruck sap.

Turtle Tail should have killed Gray Wing. Actually both Bumble & Turtle Tail deserve to kill him.
i think after tall shadow said "she was just a kittypet" and no one said "that's deeply fucked up" and agreed with her turtle tail should've put pipe bombs in everyone's nest and walked away

I would love, even if its just its just brief summaries, to know the different thoughts going through bills head throughout the last smut. (mainly when he got the text and when dipper starts just blurting out thoughts and ideas bc i think those moments would be fun to see)
Imagine you're having the shittiest day at work. You're gritting your teeth and hanging onto it by your fingernails, knowing that eventually dealing with this absolutely idiotic, waffling, overstuffed, condescending dipshit of a client will be done with, you'll charge him out the nose for your services - which will probably be, like a hundred dollars, the way this is going! What bullshit. At least afterwards, you can collapse onto the bed and complain to your spouse about it. Which you have been doing, actually, waiting for a decent excuse to bail or check out early.
Then you get a text. And it's your partner saying they got you a brand new console, your favorite pizza - Oh! And a million bucks in untraceable cash - but you might have to kick your shitty client in the nuts so hard his eyes pop out. Does that sound... okay? No pressure or anything.
The reason Bill was a minute later than expected is because even he needed a moment. It was the sheer whiplash from going from Shit to Fucking Amazing.
#answers#Bill went from full on eeueuughhh about his day to practically having hearts floating around him#Perhaps literally depending on the magic situation in the place he was in#In my head Bill was 'hired' by a (shitty) villain and he got out of it by doing a quick betrayal and demanding to be cast out by the 'heros#“I Got THIS to get back to!! You think I wanna keep him waiting???”#He already hovers in his normal triangle form but this man was practically floating with delight heading back to Dipper#A graph of Bill's mood would start out super low then spike sharply at the pic#It then stays super high up with more spikes during all the shenanigans#After the smut they likely get cleaned up. Cuddle. And talk shit about idiots they've had to deal with#Bill Cipher has gone from doing his evil deeds and playing piano to an empty bedroom while raiding his own bar for distraction#To coming home to someone who'll listen to him bitch about his day and absolutely bicker with him about it#Calling him the worst thing in the universe. A scourge upon reality.#The most clever awful bastard. How *dare* he be handsome that's a crime -and frankly Dipper basically did it for him so he can't take credi#And sometimes even saying 'yeah you didn't *entirely* deserve to be screwed over that way. I could have done that *way* better.'#While Bill rests his head in his lap. Having someone listen to him ramble while he gets his hair played with. Lots of really good kisses#Warm. Close. Grossly domestic. But hey! Even *sex* can seem gross if you phrase it weird and *that's* a normal demonic pleasure#Sometimes fun things are just fuckin' FUN y'know?? Even if this one seems weird to other demons#It's. Nice. REALLY nice.#There's absolute no goddamn way he's going back to NOT having this#Even death won't pry it out of his greedy little mitts

also like holy shit the existence of drusilla underlines the fallacy that is angel trying to present himself as a Good Man, a man who has Changed, to buffy! he has hurt someone who will never be the same because of it, someone who is so removed from the girl that she was that she is now causing hurt in a way that she’s implied to be unable to understand, and his response to her is “well, that’s in my past, and i feel bad about it, but what can you do?” season two is genuinely just one long extended metaphor re: angel being buffy’s shitty older boyfriend who repeatedly weaponizes her youth and insecurity against her -- like the scene in “lie to me” where when buffy calls him out regarding drusilla, he wants to talk about how actually ford sucks more than he does and the focus should be on ford (rather than his jealously motivated decision to do a background check on one of buffy’s friends when he felt romantically threatened) -- and it shows up so clearly in drusilla and in angel treating her like she’s something he feels guilty about but has decided of his own volition he Obviously Can’t Fix. i’m reminded as well of the way his victims are all just manifestations of his own guilt in amends, and how even the most minute detail of his victims’ lives are just used as ways to shame him for how Evil He Is. he does not care about any of these people outside of what they represent re: his own moral compass.
and always always always i will tie this one back to jenny: the fact that angel looked at this woman who called him a friend & gave him back his soul and said “she would hate me for killing her” says so fucking much about how little he actually knew or cared about what she did for him.

Cowboy Bebop Characters X Reader Headcanons
(How affectionate they would be)
Tumblr media
Spike Speigle
Affection isn't his favorite form of showing love. He usually likes to spend time with you even if you both are doing different things, as long as yall are in the same room, he is satisfied. Although, if you are super affectionate, he won't mind it at all. He will tease you a little but finds it cute.
NSFW
Handsy, strangely loves exploring your body and admiring it. He will beg you to stay and cuddle with him after.
Tumblr media
Jet Black
Also, isn't that affectionate; I do have a feeling he would act very gentlemanly like. for example, he would hold your hand whenever walking you home. Again, he doesn't mind if you are affectionate.
NSFW
He isn't handsy, but he does like your touch. It is very soothing to him he will be pretty gentle and slow with you as well.
Tumblr media
Faye Valentine
Affection isn't her first way of showing love. She would probably prefer a gift. I do think at first she might be a little surprised. However, she will get used to it after a while. Faye will expect it from you. I could see her getting sassy after if she didn't get enough from you.
NSFW
Faye will be the most affectionate during sex. She would like to run her hands through your hair and trace circles on your back. The odd and genuine affection for the situation would be relaxing.
Tumblr media
Julia
Strangely, I think she would enjoy affection. She'll probably give simple and soft forms of it. She isn't super affectionate, but she would give gentle touches. Maybe a kiss on your cheek now and then, or hold onto your arm. She'll even mess with your hair if you put your head in her lap.
NSFW
Again, it's a very soft touch, but it'll be a lot more affectionate and very passionate. Although she can be rougher if you want her to be.
Tumblr media
Vicious
At first, he will be confused and shocked when you do touch him. He rarely gets touched when he does. It's when he gets stabbed. I think he would feel threatened in the beginning. He might not feel like he deserves it as well. (Bitch got trauma). WITH ALL THAT SAID! I am begging you, please, give this man affection! He's so fucking touched starved and needs affection desperately. He will act like it doesn't affect him. But, if he is in love with you, and you touch him, I swear to god he will fucking melt in your arms. (If he isn't in love with you, he will shove you out of the way) Vicious would be afraid to do PDA, but if he feels jealous, he will have his hand somewhere on you.
NSFW
Try to tease him and see what happens. (Spoiler you wont walk for 3 years) It's not a very good idea when it comes to this man, Vicious can be very handsy, he's similar to Spike in that way, but it differs when it comes to the reason why. He is doing it to be possessive. Spike is doing it to just feel your body against his (you dont have a problem with that either).

So some of my friends have never seen Buffy and we're watching through it. I haven’t seen it since I was a kid, so there's a lot I don't remember.
We're on season 6 right now and I'm just-- what the fuck yo???
I know the show was technically supposed to end after season 5, but still, holy hell season 6 is a nightmare. I'm mad about everything honestly but I specifically wanna call out how Spike gets treated???
Cause like. What. The. Fuck???
They call this dude for everything. Like the moment something goes down they call him to help and he comes running every time. Makes sure Dawn is safe, takes care of anyone injured and makes sure they get to safety, is the other strongest fighter, knows a shitload about the supernatural world and if not where to find it. He's generally super fucking useful, and he's usually pretty damn cool and friendly with them unless someone's a dick first.
So WHY do most of the characters treat him like hes still horrible?? He literally spent the entire last season helping them. He took a freakin torture session from a GOD and nearly got dusted to keep Dawn safe. He also helped take care of Dawn after Buffy died.
Yet most of the group act like he's only out for himself and like he's just fucking evil all the time!
I remember being pissed when he got frozen out of Joyce's funeral too. They clearly had a friendly relationship, they watched soap operas together ffs. Spike routinely got called in to protect her and Dawn and did so without hesitation. There were plenty of times he and Joyce just shot the shit because he actually genuinely liked her. And yet he's not allowed to mourn her???
I don't get how you can depend on someone so obviously but then act like they're not part of the group??
Especially since its pretty fuckin obvious when they hurt his feelings. Its not like he tries to come off as cool and unaffected, he wears his heart on his sleeve. He's actually probably one of the only characters to routinely demonstrate actual emotional intelligence and empathy.
It just... irks me to see him get treated like dirt routinely when he's been doing his best to show them he's friendly for years now.
And like "he tried to kill them" isn't really a good enough reason in this story?? Anya tried to kill them, and is an ex-demon. She's still welcomed into the group. Angel too, tbh and he did FAR more emotional damage. But like even though he's not around for long after, they still talk about him fondly and Buffy keeps in contact with him over the years. Amy tried to kill them too and she got brought back with all the over looked just fine too.
It just feels massively unfair and it pisses me off because there's not a good basis for it based on how his character changed. Even Spuffy, as much as I adore the ship, went all kinds of sideways largely due to Buffy being deadset on the idea that Spike could only be bad for her and treating him like it.
Yes, he rose to the bait and he shouldn’t have. But like. Imagine how painful its gotta be to have someone you love telling you how awful you are and how they could never truly love you because you're wrong somewhere deep in your core, and then sleeping with you anyway because you're hot therefore good enough to fuck, just not to love. That's FUCKED my dude.
It don't know what the hell their beef was with Spike but I hate it.

In retrospect it's so hilariously obvious that V.E. Schwab was inspired by Cowboy Bebop when she wrote Vicious because Victor and Eli have the exact "are they going to kill each other or kiss each other" dynamic as Spike and Vicious.

I love how Buffy went on a rant about how everybody was useless and not helping her (queen shit even if it was a little too hard) and Spike just went “your right Buffy I’m not helping you, I shall kill for you and be murderous again” and then he started smoking cigarettes again.
I love spike.

i wanna know more about jamie! i feel like we know he exists but not anything about him and how things went down with him and felix :3
YES! I haven't gone too much into Jaime! He will appear in the main story but I'll give a little rundown for him! (I kinda love him)
Jaime was Felix's second victim/captive
About a year after Aaron's death, Felix decides it's time to finally get back out into the dating scene (dating she says...knowing full well he just kidnaps whoever takes his fancy asdfghjkl)
Felix goes clubbing alone when Jaime catches his eye. Another love at first sight (🤢) Jaime is WASTED. So drunk he can barely stand. So when Felix goes up to dance with him, Jaime is all over him like ants at a picnic and Felix LOVES it. Felix spikes his drink and takes him home 🤭
Okay, so the reason I love Jaime is because he's an angry, defiant whumpee. He never ONCE stops fighting Felix and cussing him tf out. He screams, bites, spits, kicks. To the point where Felix falls out of love with him. HATES HIM. He likes them sweet, compliant and fearful - easy to control. Not kicking and shouting.
Felix actually plans on killing Jaime. Felix sees him as nothing more than a nuisance and a pest. A parasite draining all his time and energy. One of Felix's friends takes a like to Jaime, and Felix happily hands him over and waves goodbye.

Jumping off of this post, I think removing the sleeper agent aspect of Spike’s character would have made his interactions with Robin Wood more interesting, and maybe allowed the series to tell a different story than they had before.
Because Robin clearly says, “No, I don't wanna kill you, Spike. I wanna kill the monster who took my mother away from me.”
The implication is that Robin knows Souled!Spike isn’t the same person who killed Nikki. That Robin brought forth this monster within the way he knew how to met out Justice (or vengeance, depending on your viewpoint). But if Robin doesn’t have that easy access to the monster, if he has to confront the man, imperfect as he is, that creates a different interaction and a vastly different dynamic.
Because the Buffyverse at large has already tackled vengeance with Holt and the Kalderash clan, and the horrors brought forth when the intent is punishing a perpetrator no longer present. And the Buffyverse also examines, a bit, the opposite - the acceptance of who this perpetrator has become - in Buffy herself, with Angel both before and after Angelus, and Spike, and with Jenny Calendar’s truncated arc with Angel(us). But we haven’t really delved into it, someone devastated by the vampire, and, in hunting them, finding no one to hold accountable.
Robin could have been a good vehicle for that - for what happens to justice interrupted. What happens when you have to look into the face of your mother’s killer, and know that being is no longer in control. And it could have been not only a fun growth moment for Spike - the realization that other slayers had loved ones who mourned them, that the ‘game’ wasn’t one to those people, or the slayers he’d killed - but a sympathetic examination of what slayers endure. Spike says, “I don't give a piss about your mum. She was a slayer. I was a vampire. That's the way the game is played… …She knew what she was signing up for”. And this is, honestly, the moment I hate Spike, because no it isn’t and no she didn’t, and at least in Seeing Red the narrative acknowledges the Problem with Spike’s thought process and actions. Here, Spike’s pronouncement that Robin’s mother didn’t love him *enough* is given textual force by Buffy’s pronouncement (echoing Nikki’s) that the mission is what matters.
But what if that were stripped away? What if Spike actually had to wrestle with the knowledge that slayers other than Buffy had loved ones waiting? That this wasn’t something they sought or signed up for, or something that they deserved. What if Spike actually had to acknowledge that his fixation on slayers took away someone’s daughter (Xin Rong), someone’s mother (Nikki Wood)? What if Spike hadn’t been able to rationalize their murders, and this son hadn’t been shut down when he addressed his loss?
The show had the chance to explore this space, where the Spike that killed Nikki was no longer in control but the hurt he created was still ever present, and had that messiness tackled in a way where neither Robin nor Souled!Spike was the villain of the piece. A mirror image of Holt, where Justice denied didn’t create a monster, but a man grappling with what was left, and how best to serve his mother’s memory and legacy.
And all of that was destroyed with Spike having a trigger and his assertion that his mother loved him more.

i should be doing my math homework but it’s stressing me out so i’m doing this instead
part 3 of why chase davenport deserved better. buckle up
adam. oh my lord i’m sorry but adam makes my blood boil. he’s always torturing him physically. he’s much MUCH stronger than him so he throws him across the room, punches him, and there was a whole episode where adam was using chase to work out. what’s the reason? y’all are brothers so it’s fine if you torture him? no. leave him alone. god i just
i love the ‘friends on the other side’ trend on tiktok about both sides of a person, the second being the villain side. i saw a couple about chase and omg i loved them. they were the episodes showing chase just wanting to be recognized and appreciated, then him in the avalanche episode (i still have to make mine for my instagram account.) chase had every reason to have a villain arc as he is treated so badly. yes he’s been a jerk sometimes. yes he does some things that are unnecessary but people treat him way worse than he does to others.
he and will byers are characters that i physically want to hug for hours because i feel so bad for them. my mom and i were watching lab rats and she went “they’re not very nice to [chase],” and i said “yes, no one treats him nicely.”
why is it so unbelievable and impossible for chase to have a girl interested in him or have a girlfriend? sabrina liked chase and adam ruined their study date by bringing spike out because he was jealous, and mr. davenport shook her hand to make sure she was real. is it shocking for him to have a girl over? and then when s1, i think her was, said “your brothers kinda cute” and told bree she was talking about chase, bree asked “chase? what did krane do to your brain?” like it’s so disgusting to like chase, and going backwards, in the robot fight club episode, when caitlin was chasing him because she had a creepy crush on him, bree said “he finally got a girl to pay attention to him.” however, bree did redeem herself in the attack episode with the iconic “no one messes with my brother” scene. however, adam has never been supportive, mr. davenport hasn’t really been supportive, and leo just didn’t care.
god chase can’t get a break. he wanted to hang out with his sister in the death spiral smack down episode and she lied to him to she could hang out with her friends. i don’t believe in lying unless you’re protecting someone, so i think bree should have just told him she wanted to hang out with her girlfriends that day. “i didn’t want to hurt your feelings” she said, which i get, but i think it hurts chase more when you lie to him. chase literally doesn’t have any friends until season 4 basically, and even those friends turn on him (i’ll get to that in a second). his best friends are his family (basically leo and bree), poor thing. in season 3, we see him and sabrina be friends for one episode and as i stated earlier, adam ruined it. in season 4, he became friends with sebastian (im not a sebase fan btw), and quickly best friends. little did he know that seb would soon be going to war with them essentially and trying to get revenge for killing his father, even though it was the right thing to do. that broke chases heart. he just wanted a best friend and seb and him were getting along so well. he and spin COULD have been friends, but honestly i think they’re so alike that they would hate each other. and chase could’ve been friends with each other if they had more screen time together. but even in elite force, he finally made some friends, but they still make fun of him. i’ll elaborate more on this later.
that goddamn list. y’all remember the list a.j. made ranking them based on their powers/abilities and how chase was number 5? BOYYY, he should’ve been at number 1 or number 2. let’s review his abilities, shall we?: super intelligence and super senses, force field, force field ball, magnetism app, override app, internal hard drive (and a whole database), fingerprint recognition app, molecular kinesis, levitation, laser bow, and though this is a glitch, commando app. plus, dude can FIGHT. how the hell does that deserve the last spot on the list? chases abilities are SO COOL SO IM LIKE???
he finally got some friends in elite force, even a best friend in kaz. they got along so well and they really were best friends with each other. and maybe kaz’s love language is making fun of chase because he too does that, but i think it’s light hearted. however, oliver, skylar, and bree picking on him isn’t light hearted. i don’t remember the episode but bree said chase is like an old lady (god he’s not that bad), and in another, oliver said it’s amusing when chase freaks out. i admit he was overreacting to the situation he was freaking out about, but why is it amusing when someone is freaking out?
principal perry. i don’t need to elaborate.
reese. i love her and hate her. i can’t explain why i love her, i just do. but i hate her because of how she treated chase. she tricked him. she played with his heart. again, i just want to hug him and treat him like a king. y’all know the song boyfriend by dove cameron, well that’s one of the things i feel about chase, just reversed. in another reality, where i’m a girl, i could be a better girlfriend than reese, danielle, sabrina, and for the chaz shippers, a better boyfriend than kaz. i would treat chase the way he deserves to be treated. give him the recognition he deserves. defend him. fight for him. love him platonically or not, i would treat him so much better than others treat him.
did we forget how he was created? by two brother scientists, one of which wanted to make adam, bree, and him ciber soldiers (correct me if i’m wrong) and make them evil. then he was taken from douglas by donald and adopted so they could have a better life. donald did save them, i’ll give him that, but he kept them in the basement for 16 years. i will admit, i wouldn’t have had a better idea than to hide them for that long, but when they made one mistake, he wanted to send them away to finish their training and never be able to see the world again. that’s just sad. but like, think about this. they were babies and they had these chips embedded in their necks when they were BABIES. they were literal lab rats (hence the name of the show) and they were B A B I E S. y’all??? imagine having a tiny metal get shoved into your neck when you’re barely alive and you grow up with these bionics that you never asked for and you’re hidden from the world for 16 years. on top of that, when your bionics are exposed to the world, everyone thinks you’re a threat and you’re nearly separated from your family. PLUS people like krane, who specifically wanted to kill them because he wanted to be more powerful. could you imagine growing up like that?
have i mentioned spike yet? well if i haven’t in previous posts, here you go. spike isn’t chase. he’s a glitch that’s like another person inside of chase. he’s an angry person with the strength of 10 men and ready to kill someone. the first time we ever meet him, he only comes out for a little bit but leo, adam, and bree are enjoying it and taking advantage of it. chase freaks out when he comes out of commando mode as he doesn’t remember anything and doesn’t know what spike did. he comes out again in that episode and they take advantage of it again so they can win a football game. when he disengages, chase reveals how excited he was for his first day and how he barely remembers it because most of it was lived by spike. bree ignores him and asks “where is spike?” while shaking the poor boy. leo then realizes that chase is right. but does that mean that the torture to chase regarding spike stops? sadly, no. i’ll skip ‘spikes got talent’ because that was an accident and he wasn’t being taken advantage of, so let’s just go to season 3. as stated before, adam purposely brought spike out to make chase humiliate himself in front of her who liked him. adam took advantage of chases glitch and was happy that spike came out. poor chase, man. chase doesn’t like spike, he probably hates that glitch, and people not using try to bring him out, but they take advantage of it when he is out.
hopefully this is the last “why chase davenport deserved better” post but who knows with me. alright back to my math, wish me luck yall i got a test coming up 😭
