Can I come over? Are you home
You summon your first smile of the day, reading Spencer’s text.
Don’t know, you text back, can you handle me?
Usually not, but that hasn’t stopped me so far. I’ll bring dinner?
What kind of dinner my love
Maybe Indian? What do you want? I want tandoori chicken
Indian food is awesome if that’s what you want, I’m just messing with you
You can hear his voice in his next text, I know that. So I can come?
You can always come over but I have to warn you, I’m irritable
What’s wrong???
Spencer texts again before you can answer, I’ll come now and we can order delivery, I’ll be right there
You decide to call him before he can make the wrong conclusions. He answers so quickly you laugh down the line. “Spencer, hi, there’s nothing that wrong.”
“What does that mean?”
“You don’t have to rush over.”
“Well, what’s wrong? Did I do something?”
“Why do you always think that, babe? No, you didn’t do anything. You’re actively making me feel better just talking to me.”
Spencer pauses briefly. “Really?”
“Really. I’m on my period, it’s kicking my ass,” you mumble, dropping your face into the soft top of your couch. “It would make me feel so much better if you were here. I want a hug.”
“I’m coming. I haven’t brushed up on my hug skills for a while–”
“You hugged me yesterday before I went home?”
“How would you rate that? On a scale of one to ten?”
“Ten, definitely.” You sigh and stretch out your legs. “No, just, my stomach is hurting and I feel sort of sick from the cramps. I’m a bit… depressed, maybe, so you don’t have to come over if you don’t want to. I might not be good company.”
“You’re always good company, you loon.”
“You what?”
“Sorry, I’m trying to be playful.”
“I know that, you loon,” you say, grinning. “Okay, you better be putting your shoes on. My patience is running out.”
“I’m by the door!” he says, giggles woven through each word. You can picture his smile, his unbuttoned coat. “You feel sick, should I still get dinner?”
“Yes, please. Tandoori chicken for me too, and–”
“I know what you want.”
“Okay, I’m gonna go shower before you get here and see me all disgusting–”
“Don’t you dare.”
“Spencer!” you laugh.
“I’ll run you a bath when I get there. Can you sit down until then?”
“I can’t believe how you’re speaking to me. You used to blush when I said hi.”
“Because you never just say hi. And it’s not like anyone else saying hi, it’s you.”
Spencer lets that kindness sit with you and says goodbye, promising he’ll be there soon with dinner. You hold your sore stomach and wait, flicking through tv channels, craving something warm to eat and a warmer chest to lay your head. Spencer’s hugs are without doubt a ten out of ten experience, he’s weirdly good at them for someone who maybe hasn’t had as many as he deserves. His hands are active as the rest of him stills, rubbing over your shoulders or your chest with care, his hair soft and ticklish on your cheek or his lips right next to your ear.
You’re dozing when he lets himself in. The rustle of a plastic bag awakens your dormant appetite, and you force yourself to meet him in the hallway.
He drops the bag like it isn’t forty dollars worth of food and beams at you. “Hi,” he says, fawning at your sloppy pyjamas. “These are cute, they’re way too big for you.”
You manage to hug him first, your arms around him and face screwed up in his chest. “Hi. My stomach hurts so bad, I missed you.”
“How bad?” he says, dropping his volume. “Have you ever considered you might have endometriosis?”
“Spencer, I love you, can you hug me for now and tell me about it later?”
“Sorry,” he murmurs, wrapping his arms around your shoulders. “Where does it hurt, everywhere?”
“It’s in my back.”
Spencer drops his hand lower. “Oh, here?” He rubs your back, and he leans away enough to see you eye to eye. “Let’s have dinner, then at least you’ll have a full stomach.”
“I don’t know if I can manage it, but I’m starving.”
“You don’t have to eat everything.” He visibly looks you over, one feature at a time. His eyes get stuck on yours, your lashes, and his lovely mouth tips down. “Were you sleeping?”
“Got bored waiting for you. I’m not tired,” you promise.
“It’s okay.” He grasps your back and rubs at it with good pressure, the shard of a cramp held back by his touch. “You okay?”
You lift your chin, turn your head just a touch to one side, asking and not asking. He smiles in that not so secret pleasure as he gives you a quick peck. It’s quick and chaste and everything you need, better when he encourages your face into his neck to give you a last good rub on the back. “Do you wanna sit down? I’ll make you a plate and we can eat on the couch.” He dots a kiss against the highest point of your cheek. “I got you motrin. And tylenol, too.”
“I don’t need any painkillers, you’re gonna rub my back.”
Spencer smiles into your cheek. “Mm, I’ll relax your uterus. Rhythmic touches.”
“That’s one way to say it, sweetheart.”
“How would you say it?” he asks, cupping the back of your neck tenderly.
You deflect, not wanting to make fun of him. “I love you.”
He pulls away, grinning, failing to talk. He's smiling so hard. When he goes in for a third round of hugs, you aren’t surprised.

sleeping on the jet | s.r x fem!reader
Tumblr media
ꨄ requested: anonymous
ꨄ genre: fluff
ꨄ summary: you and spencer sleeping together on the jet
Tumblr media
"Spence?" You whispered and lightly shook his shoulder. Spencer groaned but opened his eyes once his brain registered your voice, he hummed in response. "Can I lay with you? Those seats are getting uncomfortable."
You looked back at the seat on the jet, looking at the rest of your team members sleeping in them. Spencer nodded his head and lifted to blanket he was covered in so you could lay down. He made sure you were comfortable before wrapping his arm around you and pulling you into his chest, making sure you weren't laying on the edge. You both fell asleep pretty soon.
ーー
"Oh my god- they're sleeping together! Look at them!" Emily whisper-yelled. The rest of the team had waken up just a bit ago but they hadn't realized you and Spencer were lying together. "Quick, take a picture before they wake up!"
Derek scrambled to get his phone out and snap a picture of you and Spencer. He couldn't help but burst out laughing, which ultimately woke you and Spencer.
Once you both noticed Derek and Emily standing over you, you covered your faces immediately and groaned. Spencer put the blanket over his face and you pressed your head into his chest.
"And they said they were just friends." Emily snickered and walked off.

do you believe me now? | 6
in which spencer reid and inexperienced!fem reader are finally honest with each other. complete with tears and more than a few make-up kisses.
series masterlist
this series is 18+ warnings/tags: angst but mostly fluff, i think this qualifies as hurt/comfort, HHEHHEHHEH, lots of kissing, so cheesy, you jokingly imply he's a slut, i need him expeditiously a/n: thank you guys for being patient with me!! ilysm!! i edited this until i hated it but i hope it's satisfactory for YOU guys..... as always please please let me know what you think!! and i already started the next part hehehe
The car ride is the worst of your life.
Neither of you speak.
And you find yourself wishing, pleading to god that one of you will say something to fix this—but each minute ticks by and the streets get familiar and a quiet song ends and you realize you were silly to ever think a twenty minute car ride would change anything.
Spencer was the luckiest you’d ever been and your relationship is floating away like a balloon you forgot to hold on to—nothing more than a red dot lost to the vast blue.
Maybe for him it’s easier. You’re pretty sure it is, as you risk one or two glances at his unreadable profile that turn into lingering, obsessive looks because you’re panicking and realizing you’ll maybe never see him this close again. It’s funny and terrible how quickly you’re remembering what it was like to see him at the coffee shop for the first time—how he was nothing but a beautiful stranger, completely unknown to you and worlds away. Now you’ve had him, sort of, and you’re turning into the girl who could never have him all over again.
When he turns onto your street reality begins to sink in. Your heart is a short fuse inside your chest as he pulls into a spot and parks the car. The rumble of the engine cuts. The headlights stay on.
For a moment, everything is quiet. You wish you could insert your own reality into the silence—one where you’re simply enjoying each other’s company and there’s no sense of impending doom to take your breath away.
“Do you want to talk?” Spencer asks, looking pointedly ahead where the lights shine off the back of some other person’s car. A wayward moth dips and swirls into the high beams. You watch Spencer track it with his eyes.
“I’m not sure what to say,” you admit quietly. The weight of everything you’d like to say sits in your stomach like lead, too heavy to divulge. It’s only been a few weeks of having to carry the truth around with you and your muscles are already fatiguing. The idea of carrying it around indefinitely makes your eyes sting. You’re already exhausted.
Maybe a stronger person would find that last bit of energy to make a final push, to save the relationship just before it falls apart.
But you never claimed to be strong.
Deep down, you must’ve known you weren’t ready for a real relationship. You can’t handle all of this pretending to be okay with things that hurt. Even if that's the grown-up thing to do.
“I tried. I really did, I’m sorry—I’m—”
Before you can get the words out your throat tightens around them and you bury your face in your hands.
The sound of his seatbelt unlocking and whirring back surprises you—but you’re even more surprised when he undoes yours. Still, you move your arm so it can snap back into place and then he’s pulling you into him.
“It’s okay,” he murmurs, one hand on the back of your head as you lean over the small gap between the seats, unable to stop yourself from shedding more tears. “It’s not your fault. I’m sorry.”
He’s sorry.
For not loving you?
If it’s not your fault he doesn’t love you back—then whose fault is it? Who’ll take the fall?
But still, he’s holding you so carefully, like you’re made of porcelain. Something to be protected. Or at the very least, something to be mourned even after it’s in pieces.
As you lean against him, lulled by the slow in and out of his breath, the inverse of yours, and the way he slips his thumb over the back of your hair in silence for a few minutes—you wonder what’s missing. Why he’s not satisfied.
“I don’t understand you.”
The words come out flat, muffled by his coat, garbled with leftover tears.
“What was that?” Spencer asks gently, still playing with your hair. You sniffle, adjusting your head so your cheek is to his shoulder and your lips are no longer smushed.
“I just… I want you to explain it to me.”
“Explain what?”
You sit up just enough to meet his eyes. The movement seems to take him by surprise, but he keeps his hands on you—one slipping to your cheek and the other still loyal to your back. He brushes his fingers over the delicate skin beneath your eye and you cover them with your own in an effort to get him to stop treating you so kindly. But even now, when you’re mad at him for being so gentle in the way that he hurts you, you can’t help but seek the familiar callus on the side of his trigger finger. It’s an odd thing to anticipate missing, but you’ll miss all of him. You can’t imagine holding a hand without that familiar anomaly—a cairn to show you where he’s been and who you’re holding.
He curls his warm hand around yours and you hold your joined fist out for him in emphasis, speaking louder than either of you were prepared for.
“This! You! I understand that we don’t feel the same way about each other and maybe I can’t change that. But then you do this and I don’t understand why. I don’t understand why this isn’t enough for you, because it’s enough for me, and I just—I don’t know what else I can give you. I don’t know what else there is. I don’t understand why I’m not... enough.” The tears are back and flowing freely, but you forge breathlessly ahead, because you’ve finally found a way to be honest and you’re not going to stop now. Spencer is frowning, lips parted and clearly confused or shocked or something, but you continue your confessional before he has the chance to interrupt. “I want to be enough, but you didn’t even give me the chance, and I don’t think it’s fair that we’re breaking up when you didn’t let me try. Maybe if you just told me, if you explained what’s missing I could fix it and you could love me back, and—please. I just want to try. Please, Spencer.”
A car engine revs somewhere far away, echoing down the street. It reverberates for several seconds, unimpeded by any other noise. Any word, any breath.
His voice is thin when he responds a moment later, still studying your face with a kind of scrutiny that is so indecipherable you don’t know how you expect him to respond.
“Love you back?”
You blink.
Your stomach drops.
For all that you’d revealed, for all that you’d willingly humiliated yourself with your pathetic supplication—you’d meant to keep that four letter word to yourself.
What a way to make an exit from your relationship.
Spencer is still looking at you, keeping you pinned to your seat, and as much as you wish it wasn’t the case he’s not going to let you off the hook this time. He’s going to demand an answer, and you have a 0% chance of bursting into mist before you have to provide an explanation, so you have no choice but to say something.
What, exactly, you’re going to say—you don’t know.
“I didn’t…”
“You didn’t mean it.”
The response comes so quickly, sharp as a slap, that you jump back slightly, a deep frown twisting your brow. Spencer makes no effort to keep his hand in yours as you slip from his grasp.
“That’s not what I was—”
“Just say what you mean.” Silence. “Tell me.”
It’s like he’s got an ice pick to your chest. It’s like he wants you to humiliate yourself even further, to punish you for your messy indiscretions.
“Spencer…”
It’s a warning. You’re giving him a chance to stop this before he hurts you sadistically. Before he becomes unrecognizable.
He swallows.
“Please.” And then, a second later, when you’re still trying to process the quiet pain in his voice and suddenly faced with the unexpected question of who is hurting who, “please, just… tell me if you meant it.”
For the first time tonight, you notice how exhausted he looks. Slightly gaunt, even paler than usual. Shadows pool deeper in the hollows of his face. His eyes look glossy, dark crescents below awaiting to catch tears you realize you’ve never seen fall. The tonal shift has you so disoriented, so out of your body like you’re seeing yourself in his own injuries—the truth becomes the only humane answer. Even if it hurts you.
“Yes. I meant it. You know I mean it.”
“I don’t know that,” he says on a shaky exhale. “How would I know that?”
And he’s got the ice pick back at your sternum. It’s tipped in poison. The mallet trembles in the air. So does your voice.
“You told me you didn’t feel the same. You said it was new for me and different and I was going to make things complicated and you treated me like I was a stupid kid, and—and it doesn’t even matter. This was dumb. I’m sorry I said anything, I don’t… I don’t know what I’m doing. I just.. I can’t do this.”
You’re about to open the door, every muscle tense as you wonder what the hell is wrong with you. What reduced you to the weepy, pathetic girl, begging a boy to love her despite knowing it doesn’t work like that—the same girl you’ve looked down your nose at in every film and TV show and in every high school and college hallway since you learned what self-superiority meant. Before you knew exactly what it felt like to be her.
“Wait.”
He says your name.
And of course you pause.
You want a reason to stay. If you had more self-respect, you wouldn’t. But you know you’ll give him as many chances to give you an excuse as he’s willing to take. You knew that before your fingers met the metal of the door handle.
“Just—hold on a second. Can you look at me?”
You sniffle and wipe your eyes with the heel of your palm before turning around to face him once more. You wonder if anyone will ever have the kind of power he has over you ever again.
The despair leaves only wisps of itself on his face—mostly he looks like he’s thinking hard about something. It’s jarring.
“You’re talking about our phone call on Sunday, right?”
You nod petulantly with a quick teary eye-roll because obviously that’s what you’re talking about.
Something lights in his own dark eyes as he inhales, parts his lips as if to speak, and stops himself again. Like he’s got news that he’s not sure how to break.
“The things I said, on that call… I wasn’t talking… about you.”
Your insides feel like tangled yarn as you stare at him uncomprehendingly.
“I mean, I was. I was talking about us. But not in the way you think, it was—” he stops, rubbing his eyes and taking a frazzled breath. “I know what it’s like to be the one who cares more. I have to assume that I’m the one who cares more because when I don’t, I ruin things. And with you, I felt like—the stakes were so high, and I thought it’d be safer for me to not say anything until I knew you felt the same. But I know that’s not fair to you so I tried to tell you over the phone that if you didn’t feel the same way it was okay. And now I’m—I’m realizing the way I phrased it was incredibly unclear and misleading, and somehow I fucked it up in a completely new way. But I wasn’t referring to you. I just didn’t want you to feel stuck with someone who can’t give you casual when you have so much ahead of you. I had no idea you felt that way about me. And I am so, so sorry that I hurt you. I never meant for that to happen.”
You blink.
And for some reason, begin sobbing.
Spencer freezes for a moment, then tells you to stay there and you barely have the capacity to wonder what he means as you hear his own door opening then slamming shut again. A moment later he’s on the passenger side, opening your door and leaning in.
“Hey,” he whispers, gently pulling your hands from your face and making you turn your head to look at him. “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry. But that’s good news, right? Why all the tears, lovely? What’s wrong? Please talk to me.”
You take a shuddering breath.
“This is all my fault, I ruined everything because I was too scared to tell you before and now—and now—”
Stroking your cheeks to wipe away the tears is a futile effort because they just keep coming, but Spencer does it anyway, and he speaks so kindly, so evenly it somehow hurts deeper.
You were terrible to him. And he had been prepared to accept that. He thought you didn’t love him, and he was still willing to be the subject of all your cryptic frostiness and inexplicable cruelty.
“It is not your fault. You didn’t ruin anything. I’m still right here. We’re okay.”
“But we’re breaking up, and—and I was so mean to you. That’s not okay, Spencer.”
You finally look at him. He’s close, eyes warm and wide as he looks directly into your own teary gaze, shaking his head earnestly.
“You were confused, honey. So was I. It was just a misunderstanding. But… I know I was unkind to you. I cannot express how sorry I am for that, and the last thing I want is for us to break up, but if you think that’s what’s best, I’ll… I’ll understand.”
His voice is dangerously thin by the end, strained with impending tears of his own. But he’s eternally kind—backlit by the streetlamps and beautiful like an angel.  Whatever you want, he’ll give you. Even if it’s this.
“I don’t want that. I don’t.” You sigh, closing your eyes briefly against the world as you realize the impending breakup had been a delusion all along. That you were going to let your insecurities and some sick pride end the relationship for you. All that despair had been for nothing. Or—maybe not nothing. You realize he still hasn’t said it back. But you won’t be a coward. It’s not worth losing him. You open your eyes.  “I just—I want us to be on the same page. And if you don’t love me yet or if you don’t wanna say it, or if you can’t, I get it—it’s okay, but if you don’t could you maybe just tell me? So that I’ll know—”
Before you can process it Spencer is leaning in, head angled to accommodate you, pressing his lips to yours so softly your breath catches and your stomach flips. Maybe softer than he ever has before, and it’s like taking a deep breath after holding it through a dark tunnel. You exhale a tentatively soft sigh against him, releasing air you don't have along with the fraught tension in most of your body. All too quickly he’s pulling away, hands still cupping your cheeks and thumbs stroking over your skin. When he speaks it’s not quite a whisper, but secret-soft.
“How could I not be so in love with you?”
Suddenly you can feel the world turning underneath you. Or maybe you’re just dizzy from lack of oxygen. Either way it feels good. A drop of warmth makes a splash in your stomach and slowly spreads through every vein and capillary until you’re sure you’re glowing gold.
“Really?”
“Of course really. I’m—” he takes a breath of his own, and you realize how difficult this must be after what happened the last time he professed his love for a girl. Your chest aches for him. His voice is low and solicitous, but it wavers slightly. “I should have told you sooner. I wanted to, but I was worried—I was worried the way I felt for you was… too much. I am so in love with you it scares me. I still don’t know what to say or how to act around you. When I’m gone, sometimes I imagine quitting my job, just so I can come home and see you sooner. When I have a gun in my hands, I start thinking about all the things I would do to keep you safe, or—or just because you asked me to. And if what you wanted was for me to leave you alone, I would have done that. If you wanted me to drop everything and everyone to be with you I would have done that. And I know you’d never ask those things of me. But any of them, I’d do in a heartbeat. Which is… it’s a little scary, huh?”
The final sentence is a nervous self-effacing chuckle, which you can match in sound only—one breathy attempt at a laugh from your slackened jaw.
When that’s the only response you can manage, he clears his throat.
“Too honest?”
You shake your head as if in a fog.
“No. Not too honest. But I’m just… I’m trying not to cry again.”
He smooths over your hair fondly. His own eyes are shiny and full of wonder as he studies you for a short while, like you're doing something much more awe-inspiring than sniffling in the passenger seat of his car. Then one hand is dropped to your shoulder and the other braced against your seat back. Finally, he pulls back to a more reasonable distance with a shaky sigh. It’s a sound of relief. You want to hug him, and all the past hims who have ever been hurt by anyone.
“You, um—you need to rehydrate. Do you have anything that will rebalance your electrolytes? If you don’t I can go to the store—”
“You don’t need to do that,” you assure him with a small, watery laugh, loosely grabbing the wrist that brushes your shoulder.
“But you need to take care of yourself. And I know you haven’t been drinking enough water because you never do.”
There’s a lingering overwrought shakiness to his voice, but it’s still the most relaxed he’s sounded since he came home, and you realize that the worst is behind you. The storm that you’d been so sure you couldn’t weather is somehow clearing up.
“I can’t believe we almost just broke up.”
He hangs his head, dropping it to the curve of your neck and groaning.
“Don’t say that. Let’s not think about that right now. Just—” when he raises his head again, and shakes it slightly to get his hair out of his eyes, they’ve cleared, like he’s on a mission to change the subject. “Let’s go upstairs. Will you let me take care of you?”
You give him an exaggerated nod, still sniffing, and the smile that grows on his face is like seeing the sun rise above the ocean. You love his smile. You love him.
Spencer kisses you on the cheek.
“Okay. Let me lock the car and then we can go up.”
As soon as you get into your apartment and turn on the light Spencer goes to the kitchen. It’s a small unit, but antique and nice enough, though you prefer Spencer’s. There’s still some tension as you observe him filling a glass with water, kicking your boots off by the door—but not necessarily the bad kind. You’re not sure exactly what it is.
“Where are you going?” He asks as you pass the kitchen area to turn on a standing lamp in the opposite corner of the room.
“I don’t like the big light.” A warm glow emanates through stained glass as you flick it on.
“I know that. I just didn’t realize it was a higher priority than your wellbeing.” His tone is sardonic but he’s already switching off the overhead lighting for you. You give him a wry smirk as you finally approach and take the proffered glass from his waiting hand.
“Ambience over everything, baby.”
His brows pinch at the cavalier sentiment—you never call him baby, so you're sure he knows it’s a joke—and he shakes his head with a humorous little huff of air through his nose, watching as you drink deeply. Your hand is shaking. Spencer notices and covers it with both of his, taking the half empty glass with one and grabbing your hand with the other.
“Adrenaline,” he murmurs, kissing your knuckles. “It’ll go away soon. Did you get enough?”
You nod, smiling small but genuinely. Emotionally exhausted or not, you’re happy.
Spencer strays, not far, to set the glass on the counter. Then he turns to face you, bracing his palms on the ledge and just watching you for a moment with the kind of smile that makes you nervous in the best way.
He beckons you to him with nothing more than a quick tilt of his head, and you shuffle across the floor in your socks til you’re toe to toe. Without your shoes on, he feels much taller. Still he just watches you for a moment—not that you mind. Your view isn’t half-bad. The faint warm glow from the lamp casts shadows over his face, highlighting all the perfect angles, deep brown eyes framed by dark lashes, and lips that still make you feel like a girl with a crush when you look at him. His hair is getting long. You’re unreasonably glad you still get to look at him like this.
“Hi,” you whisper—something about the intimate dark of the room feels like a place for secrets.
“Hi, pretty.” Spencer tucks hair behind your ear, eyes soft wherever they focus on your face like if he even looks at you too sharply you might break. “Have I told you how much I missed you while I was gone?”
He knows he hasn’t.
“Even when I was being a heinous bitch?”
Spencer laughs and it makes you smile too. The way his smile changes the landscape of his whole face will never feel any less like observing a natural phenomenon. It’s unfair how beautiful he is, and how you’re keeping him all to yourself in the dark on the fourth floor of an apartment building in DC.
“Even then. Not sure that’s the wording I would have used.”
“I missed you too,” you admit softly.
He maps your face with wandering eyes like he’s done a hundred times. Vaguely you wonder if he sees the same kind of beauty in you that you see in him. If he sees landmarks in your flaws and stars beyond the observable universe in your eyes.
Spencer sweeps your hair over your shoulder, fingertips grazing your neck.
“Can I kiss you?” He murmurs.
Butterflies fill your stomach and you nod shyly, unsure of what would come out if you tried to speak.
His free hand settles on your lower back and brings you into him until you’re chest to chest. With his other on your jaw, he bows his head, and you angle yours up, allowing your eyes to flutter shut.
Spencer kisses you so gently it aches in your chest, still cupping your face and stroking your cheek. You can’t help wrapping your arms around his middle—before he’s pulling away far too soon.
And he’s laughing.
“What were you drinking?”
You frown, flustered and trying to remember a time before his lips were on yours.
“Water.”
“Before that, baby. At the bar.”
You think back even further, head muddled even more by the endearment so that it takes you a moment to recall.
“A Shirley Temple. Derek brought it to me. Why? Is that bad?”
“No,” he says, still smiling as his lips brush yours. “You’re perfect. You taste like candy. It’s cute.”
Oh. You feel warm as he presses another kiss to your lips—and this time you insist on him staying awhile. He’s happy to oblige.
Spencer kisses you soft and careful at first, and then deeper, but still so slow, until you can’t help the way you’re bunching the fabric of his shirt between your fingers and rising on your toes to try and get impossibly closer. He kisses you the way you’ve been needing him to since he left, long and unhurried and sweet—and takes everything you give him, siphoning away all your leftover turmoil and angst until you’re weightless. You’re deprived of oxygen, you’re dizzy, and you don’t care at all.
“I love you,” you breathe against him before he captures your lips again with a hum that flips your stomach, his hand rubbing over your hip.
“Say it again,” he mutters against your mouth a second later, brushing hair away from your face.
It comes out a little mumbled this time between kisses, but it comes out all the same.
“Love you.”
He sighs into you—relief that mirrors your own.
“I love you.”
It seems like the kind of thing that will never stop sounding perfect from his lips.
A final deep kiss shortens into a series of smaller ones, and then he’s pulling away slowly, brushing the corner of your mouth affectionately.
Both of you require a few deep breaths—a moment to let your sparkling eyes wildly chart each familiar curve and convex and shade and shadow of the other’s face—before either of you can speak. Spencer breaks the silence first.
“I’m sorry.”
You frown, stirred from your brainless bliss by his unexpected apology.
“For what?”
The fiery glow in his eyes dampens slightly.
“For what I said at the bar.”
Oh.
That.
It feels like a lifetime away—memories seen through someone else’s eyes. Words like blows from a less familiar mouth.
You look away. For a while, you’d forgotten about that. Ideally he wouldn’t have reminded you.
At least he doesn’t make you look at him. He just strokes your hair, watching you examine the tiled counter. His voice is soft and soothing, like he’s appealing to a scared rabbit. Or maybe something angrier and with more teeth.
“You’re not immature, or badly behaved, or thoughtless. I was having an emotional reaction, I got defensive, and I lashed out. It was unfair and unkind of me to throw those things back in your face when I know how much trust it takes for you to be vulnerable with me. There’s nothing I can say or do that will adequately make up for that, but I want you to understand that I didn’t say any of it because it was the truth. I said it because I didn’t understand how you were feeling and I was hurt. I was insecure and I acted juvenile. I am so, so sorry, honey. You don’t have to forgive me, but you do need to know that none of it is true.”
Once you bite your lip long enough to be sure you won’t cry again, you speak.
“It’s okay,” you insist with a cheerfulness as natural as hard plastic, something in your chest twinging. “I was mean too. Like you said, we were both confused.”
“It is not. I made you cry.”
Sometimes you forget that he’s not like other people. He’ll never accept anything less than the barest truth. So you look back up at him and speak with a level of honesty that you hope satisfies him.
“I forgive you. You didn’t mean it. And I have insurance because Derek said he and Emily would kick your ass if you’re mean to me again.”
You hear the sad humor in his voice. His hand runs up and down your back.
“If I’m ever mean to you again, I personally invite you to kick my ass. And then let Derek and Emily have their turn.” He thumbs at your cheek, studying you in silence for a moment. “I can’t tell you how much I wish I could take it back.”
You stand up a little straighter. Spencer tracks you with his eyes, noting the way you smile slightly.
“You’ll find a way to make it up to me.”
“I’ll do anything for you,” he admits, barely a whisper and the truth of it so heavy you can feel it too.
But for tonight you can’t contend with more weight.
“You know what you could do right now?”
The mischief in your tone is obvious, and he hesitates, like he’s not sure he wants to let you move on from this so quickly. But eventually he plays along, pressing his thumb into the dip of your back and speaks lowly, just as you’d hoped he would.
“What’s that?”
You smile slyly.
“You could kiss me again.”
“Hm… I don’t know, three times in one night? Sounds a little excessive.”
“Do you want to be forgiven or not?” You huff. He smiles lazily, already dipping his head to press his lips to yours.
“I thought I was already forgiven.”
“Apologies can be retracted.”
“Ah.” His next words are mumbled as his lips ghost yours. “Well we wouldn’t want that.”
Spencer puts you out of your misery, not bothering to warm you up to it before he’s kissing you with a deep need. It’s still languid, and not hungry, exactly—it’s more like an aching, mind-numbing thirst. It’s all-consuming, overwhelming to have all of his burning focus pinpointed on you like this. Both hands come to cup your face and you wonder if he wants you in ways that he doesn’t entirely understand, just as you want him. You wonder if anything could possibly sate this desire to possess him completely and for him to possess you, to trade corporeal forms—or if it’s just something you’ll have to live with like a metaphysical itch you can’t scratch. As he forces you to tip your head back for him, using his height to his advantage, breathing deeply against you and attempting to push himself impossibly closer, you begin to think he understands exactly how you feel.
As soon as you’d sensed he wanted it, your lips had parted for him. He knows he could have any part of you. He knows how eager you are to give yourself to him. You’ve done everything to prove it, and yet you’ve never needed him quite like you do ask he pushes off the counter and slowly backs you against the wall, protecting your head with a hand as the paintings rattle ever so slightly. You gasp into his mouth and he kisses you greedier still, but his hands don’t stray from your cheeks.
Not until, that is, you hook your right leg around his left, and he catches it, fingers wrapping under the bend of your knee.
Never in your life have you regretted picking jeans rather than a skirt more than you do right now.
But to your disappointment, Spencer slows down to a halt—pulling his lips from yours like they’d been stuck by molasses until he’s far enough away to study you wildly, panting just as you are. His hair hangs over his smoldering eyes. He’s disheveled. It’s sexy.
“What?” You whisper, voice surprisingly hoarse.
He looses a dry, abashed laugh. The flush he’s sporting is incredibly charming.
“I’m supposed to be playing nice with you.”
Spencer says it like it’s a mild hindrance. Something frissons in your core. You smile a little wider as you continue to catch your breath, which seems to please him.
“Playing nice?”
“Being gentle. I’m not supposed to push my favorite things against walls when they’re delicate.”
Your face heats at the way he speaks of you—if it weren’t Spencer, if you didn’t know he really doesn’t think of you as an object, you’d be pissed. But instead all you can think about is how good it feels when he calls you his.
“According to who?”
His eyes dart between yours and then down to your lips several times before he averts them to the wall beside you with an intensity that could burn holes through the plaster. Is that how he looks at you?
“According to me. I think… god, you're going to hate me for this. But I think I need you to kick me out.”
You drop your leg at the same time as you do your heart.
“What?”
“I know,” he says, over-apologetically, “I know, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have let that escalate. But we can’t… do anything tonight.” Before you can protest, he rushes to explain himself. “It’s just that it’s been a long day. It’s been a long week, actually, and I doubt either of us have slept very much, and I think you’re really drained, and probably not thinking super clearly. I don’t think you’re in the best place for decision making.”
You look pointedly down to where he still has you pressed to the wall.
“I think I’m in a great place.”
At that he steps back, but lets his hands find yours and pulls you away from the wall—just not quite as close as before. His nose bumps against yours as he speaks low and sweet.
“I understand that you want me to stay right now. But it’s not a good idea to associate fighting with physical pleasure. That can set some really dangerous patterns.”
“We’re not fighting,” you plead, matching his tone as you look up at him with big eyes. His fingers lace with yours.
“You’re right. Maybe fighting was the wrong word. But we had some pretty intense conversations today, didn’t we?”
Reluctantly you nod.
“Right,” he agrees. “Same premise. We need to be able to have those conversations without getting distracted.”
In a last ditch attempt to get him to change his mind, you give him your best approximation of the imploring, wide-eyed gaze he sometimes uses on you. Something not entirely smile and not entirely smirk twists the corners of his mouth. When he ducks down to kiss you quickly, you reciprocate, but you lack the enthusiasm of earlier.
“Hey.”
“Hm,” you respond, dejectedly.
“Don’t get all grumpy because I don’t put out.”
That puts a disgruntled little smile on your face as he probably knew it would.
“I guess you just gave it up easy to all those other women.”
He grabs your chin and gives you a final peck.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’ve never been with other women.”
“Mhm,” you grumble good-naturedly, pushing away from him and going to the door to undo the deadbolt. “Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.”
“Wow. I really must have overstayed my welcome if that’s the goodbye I get.”
You turn back around, brows raised.
“Oh, I was prepared to be very welcoming. This is your doing.”
“Uh-huh. Come here.”
Happily you skitter back across the few feet of wooden flooring and wrap your arms tightly around him one more time, pressing your cheek to his chest. He’s ready, winding his arms over yours and rubbing your back. It’s eerily similar, you realize as he presses his face into the concave of your shoulder, to when he’d left on that most recent case.
But at the same time—everything’s different.
And you won’t make the same mistake twice.
“Hey,” you smile, resting your head on his shoulder. Spencer pulls back to look at you, a similar grin on his face.
“Hey what?”
“I remembered what I was gonna say.”
The grin widens. He knows exactly what you’re talking about.
“Tell me.”
“I was going to tell you that I love you. And—I hope you’re not one of those people who’s uncomfortable being told that often. Because if that’s the case I’m really going to annoy you.”
“I’m not that kind of person,” he assures. “Tell me as often as you can.”
“But you should say it back. It’s more polite that way.”
“I love you,” he murmurs, in a voice more serious than your teasing tones had been but still soft and sweet around the edges. “You know, people talk about love as if it’s completely irrational and illogical. But with you… I think the world actually makes more sense than it used to. I understand things I never did before. You’ve taught me a lot.”
It’s like a lightshow in your stomach. You wonder if he has any idea the effect his casual musings have on you.
“You already knew everything.”
“Not everything,” Spencer whispers. “Not about the things that matter.”
And you’re fresh out of teases. All you can do is look up at him with big eyes again, in awe of the fact that you get to keep him after all.
“Will you text me when you get home?” You request, voice reverent in the wake of an admission you could never hope to top.
“I will. I’ll see you tomorrow?”
You nod, because it doesn’t even matter if you had other plans tomorrow. They’re as good as cancelled.
Spencer kisses your cheek, and you get the sense that things are still being left unfinished. There’s an unresolved tension that you can’t shake, even after all the apologies and kisses and sweet words. Still, he made a point with his talk about not mixing argument with pleasure, and you’d like to respect those wishes because you respect him—even if every atom of your being shakes with desire to keep him locked in your bedroom, hidden away from the world together, for as long as you can possibly manage.
Eventually, you loosen your hold, and you let him go. He lingers at the door, hands in his pockets, just watching you and mirroring your small smile as you hold onto the counter with an iron grip to keep yourself in check. After he finally peels his gaze away from yours and silently closes the door behind him, you stand there, staring at the wood for at least a minute.
Once you manage to shake yourself from your revery with a deep breath, you grab your glass from earlier and stand in front of the sink, watching it fill with a white jet of water. It’d be a shame to admit it to him, but maybe Spencer is right. Maybe you do need time to emotionally digest today. After all—that was technically your first argument. It seems to have left you sort of wound up. Not in a bad way, per se—maybe you just need to take a shower, let the hot water roll over your shoulders and wash away the frenetic energy that clings to you.
Still, something tells you that you won’t be getting much sleep tonight, even if you do take the world’s longest shower. You’re simply too high-strung. You wonder if having Spencer here would fix that or make it worse. But ultimately, he’d made the call that it was a bad idea for him to stay, and you’re generally inclined to trust his judgement.
The thought makes you laugh into your cup as you drink. Even after the debacle that was the past week, you trust him to know what he’s doing. Maybe you need to rethink that, at least temporarily, until he’s had a chance to redeem himself.
Just then, your front door is opening with absolutely zero warning and slamming shut again before you can finish whipping around. Your heart threatens to choke you and you almost drop your glass, clutching your chest.
“Jesus, you—”
But the words die in your throat as Spencer storms toward you, shrugging his coat off with a white-hot chill in his eyes. It’s enough to freeze you in place, heart drumming against the confines of your ribs.
“You really need to start locking that door,” he breathes, tossing his jacket on the counter before grabbing your face and crashing his lips into yours, palms pressed to your jaw and fingers pushing into your hair. You stand there, hands hovering in air before you gain the wherewithal to blindly set the glass down behind you. Your heart is pounding as you immediately submit to the kiss, whining softly against his lips and cautiously seeking stability in the fabric of his shirt. Spencer pulls away only briefly, allowing you to gasp for much-needed air. His brown eyes are like molten gold on you, pupils blown wide and wild as he scans your face, taking heavy breaths of his own. “Anyone could just walk in.”

Pairing: Spencer Reid x Wife!BAU!Reader.
Request: Hi, I would like to request one where the reader and Spencer adopt a 4-year-old boy that they rescued in a case.
Summary:  It's pretty much the same as the request says, but focused on how they met with the boy and took the decision to adopt him.
Word Count: 3.9k
Warnings: Hurt/comfort and angst with a happy ending. CM typical stuff, murder, unsubs, death of relatives, orphancy. Pregnancy and adoption are discussed. I don't know how the adoption system works in the US, so bear with me.
A/N: I loved the request. Dad!Spencer lives rent-free in my mind. Tell me your thoughts.

‘(Y/N)? What's your location and status? I repeat, what's your location and status?'
Hotch's voice echoes through your earpiece, but you are not able to speak. Not when the scenario in front of you is so overwhelming.
Although in your eight years working at the BAU, you have seen the most horrendous things one human being can do to another, from time to time, some cases can still paralyze you.
Like now.
As you look around, you can only think of the terrible minutes those who lived in this home must have gone through when the unsub forced its way in.
But something snaps you out of your stupor, and it's not Hotch's voice shouting in your ear; it's the sound of sobs.
The sobs of a child.
You take off your earpiece to get a better notion of where the sound is coming from, and you notice that at the back of the room, there is a closet with its door closed.
You quickly run over there and open the door, only to find a little boy sitting on the floor, hugging his knees and with teary eyes. When he looks at you, you can see the shock and fear in his eyes. The little one must be four years old at most. It breaks your heart to see him like this, but it immediately makes you go into alert mode again. You holster your gun first so as not to scare the kid.
"Hey, sweetheart. It's okay. My name is (Y/N), and I'm a cop. Everything is okay. You're safe," you tell him with a reassuring voice and kind eyes while you crouch to get to his level.
His hazel orbs are glued to your form as he blinks a few times.
Before you can talk again, he launches to wrap his little arms around one of your legs. With an arm, you hug him back as you block his view of the room with your body. He doesn't need to see the same you did as you got there.
"I've got you, sweetheart. You're okay," you repeat him as you put on your earpiece again. "I'm in the master bedroom. No unsub, but I found the kid," you murmured into the com.
Yet crouched, you lean back to look at the boy. "I'm gonna get you out of here now, okay? But I need you to keep your eyes on me until we get outside. Can you do that for me?"
The kid nods timidly. Removing your FBI jacket, you take him in your arms, covering you both with it as you make your way out. A bunch of agents enter the room at the time, but you keep your eyes on the boy, using your peripheral vision to keep walking and not fall.
Spencer is waiting for you at the base of the stairs. Concern is visible on his face when he sees you coming down with a child. When you reach the first floor, you withdraw the jacket that covers both of you.
"Good job, honey," you say to the boy with a smile. And then you briefly exchange a knowing look with Spencer. He nods, and you continue your way out of the house with the kid in your arms.
---------------
It turns out the child, named Elliot, is the son of the unsub's two recent victims. Unsub that you have been chasing all over DC for three days now.
You get confirmation of this information from Garcia by phone as the EMTs are checking Elliot in an ambulance parked outside the house where you found him.
It's still unclear what really happened inside. Still, it's likely Elliot's mom hid him in the closet before the unsub got upstairs. You don't know for sure because the little boy hasn't said a word to anyone yet.
And although it's heartbreaking, you know you have to make him talk about what he saw and heard.
Hotch, a few meters apart, beckons you to approach.
"I'll be right back, okay?" You say to Elliot. But as you're about to step away from him, he starts crying and grabs your sleeve so you don't go. You look at your boss, confused as to what to do, and Hotch nods, showing you his cell phone, a sign that he'll text or call you so you don't have to leave Elliot's side.
A ping of your phone signals a text from Hotch.
'We need to know what he knows. You'll ride with him to the quarters. Spencer is going to drive you.'
You think it's reasonable due to the rapport it seems you already have with the boy.
"It's okay, Elliot. I'm not leaving you. But we need to go to another place now, okay? So we can be more comfortable. It's getting cold here," you point it out as the reason why you need to leave and not because he needs to be questioned.
A faint 'okay' escape from the boy's lips, and it's the first word you hear him say. And a lump forms in your throat, acknowledging the vulnerability of that little human being.
From the corner of your eye, you see Spencer getting closer, presumably having talked to Hotch.
"Elliot, this is Spencer. He will drive us to a comfy place. He is a good friend and will take care of us," you announce.
"Hi, Elliot," Spencer says as he waves.
"Hi," the child murmurs as he waves back.
The ride to the station starts mostly quiet. You are in the back seat with little Elliot as Spencer drives. From time to time, he looks at you both from the rearview.
Spencer knows you are trying to come up with a strategy to talk to the child, so he takes the lead in doing the small talk to give you some insights.
"So, Elliot. Can I ask you a question?" Spencer starts, and the kid perks his head up and nods, with a 'yes' slipping from his lips.
"What is your favorite food?"
The boy pouts a bit while contemplating his response. "Pizza," he decides. "I like pizza."
"Pizza is cool," Spencer agrees. "Would you like some now? I can stop by and get one," Spencer offers.
"With ham?" Elliot quirks an eyebrow questioningly.
"If you like ham, then ham it is."
"I like ham and tomatoes," he adds. Spencer smiles.
"Did you know pizza with ham and tomatoes is (Y/N) 's favorite?" Elliot's gaze turns to you, asking for confirmation. You nod, backing Spencer's statement. A timid smile crosses Elliot's face, and you could have melted right then and there.
Spencer continues asking the boy little questions; that's how you know he likes airplanes, his favorite color is green, and he prefers Hulk over Ironman.
At the BAU, you head with Elliot to one of the meeting rooms—the most little and cozy so that the boy could settle in a less intimidating environment. Spencer follows you back, stopping by to grab from Garcia the pizza box and drinks he asked her for earlier.
"Here it is. Pizza with ham and tomatoes. I got some drinks, too," Spencer announces, placing everything on the table. He knows you have to talk to Elliot about what happened in the house, so he suspects you need privacy with the kid. He stops at the door and looks at you. You stand to approach him while Elliot is occupied with a slice of pizza.
He grabs your hand and, after kissing it lovingly, gives it a reassuring squeeze.
"You're doing good. It's for the better. He trusts you. We need to catch the guy."
It's just what you need to hear. You're still unsure about the whole situation, and Spencer, as always, can see it. Your husband of two years can read you like a book, and it's not because of his profile skills. You both have been through a lot together in the years of working together, being friends at first and then as a couple.
You nod, and Spencer kisses you on the cheek before letting you alone with Elliot.
---------------
It's shocking the wretched details that a 4-year-old's mind can retain and still see the world innocently. In some way, you're grateful Elliot can't understand everything that's happening around him.
You pass the information he gives you on to the team to improve the profile and get better clues about how to catch the guy. Spencer was right; Elliot trusts you, and that's why you feel responsible for his well-being. After tiring hours, he falls asleep on the couch, where you tuck him in and watch him sleep.
Spencer peaks into the room. He wants to talk with you.
You leave the little one sleeping while you go out and leave the door half open.
"You need a break. You hadn't eaten or slept in hours."
"I'm okay," you say flatly. Spencer raises an eyebrow. "I can't leave him, Spence. You know that."
"Baby, I know you're worried for him, but you need to take care of yourself too. I can stay with him for a couple of hours."
You know Spencer is right, but you don't want to admit it. Instead, you try to change the subject.
"Did Garcia locate any relatives?"
Spencer sighs. He knows the answer to your question, and it's not a good one.
"There is literally no one in his family except those who were in the house: his parents and an aunt. There is a distant cousin, but she lives in Sweden, and she doesn't even know his existence. And even if she wanted, she could not do the adoption procedures because she lost her American nationality."
That means Elliot will fall into the system, waiting for someone to adopt him. You don't even know how to respond to the news. They are devastating and break your heart.
Spencer looks at you with concern.
"Are you okay?" your husband cautiously asks, although he knows the answer from the look you return to him. It's a look that says, 'I'm not okay, and there is nothing I or you can do about it right now.'
In silence, he envelops you in a tight embrace that you reciprocate, hiding your face in his chest.
"I'm sorry," you mumble after some minutes. Spencer leans back to look at you.
"Why are you saying sorry?"
"Because I should be working my ass right now to catch the son of the bitch who did that to his parents," you pause to control the anger that starts bubbling inside of you. "Instead of being a mess and useless here."
Spencer cups your cheeks so you can look at him.
"Hey, don't say that. You are doing even more than it is expected from our job here. You are the only one Elliot has talked to about what happened, and it has given us solid leads. Beyond that, you are helping him, caring about him, and being by his side in this horrible time."
"It's so unfair, Spencer."
He knows what you are talking about and nods in agreement. You continue talking.
"And I know there are so many other children that have to go through something as horrible as this, and they, too, have no one to take care of them. But with Elliot, I - God, I don't know why it feels different with him. The mere idea of him in the system makes me sick."
Spencer feels his chest tight, but he doesn't want to be vulnerable when you're the one who needs to be comforted. He pulls your body towards him again, holding you tight.
---------------
A whole two days have passed, and after much insistence and even convincing Elliot to tell you not to feel bad about leaving him for a few hours, Spencer gets you to take a break. So you can take a shower, eat and sleep.
The rest of the team works full-time and around the clock to catch the unsub. With the new clues you had him identify, it was only a matter of hours before they could finally get him.
Spencer is with Elliot while he colors with crayons. On the sheet, he is painting the sky blue.
"Do you know why the sky is blue?" Elliot asks Spencer, whose lips quirked up in a smile.
"Well. It's because of something called the scattering of sunlight by the atmosphere." Elliot's eyes widen in confusion.
"Scattering of sunlight? What's that?"
"It's like when you bounce a ball off a wall, but with sunlight and tiny air particles."
Elliot giggles, picturing what Spencer just said.
"So the sun is playing ball with the sky?"
Spencer laughs, amused by the kid's imagination.
"Haha. Well, sort of. You could say that."
An excited Elliot decides what he wants to do next.
"I wanna play ball with the sun too! Can we?"
Spencer raises an eyebrow, contemplating his response.
"Maybe not with the sun directly, but we can definitely play ball later. How about that?"
"Yes! Can I get my red ball? It's my favorite!" Elliot chirps and Spencer's heart swells.
"Sounds like a plan, buddy."
Spencer's answer seems to satisfy Elliot, who continues coloring.
He doesn't have the heart to tell the kid that maybe he will have to leave soon once a child service professional gets assigned to his case.
After a while, Elliot finishes his drawing and passes it to Spencer, who examines it curiously.
In it, there is something that resembles a woman holding hands with a child. Next to it is a sketch of what appears to be a tall man, and in the blue sky, two winged figures.
Spencer asks him who they are, pointing to the drawing.
"She's (Y/N)," Elliot points to the woman holding hands with the child.
"That's me after she found me," he explains, putting his finger over the drawn kid. "That's you," he continues, indicating to the tall man.
"I look really good here," Spencer jokes. "And these? Spencer now points to the figures in the sky."
"Mom and Dad," Elliot says, and Spencer's breath hitches in his throat. "They are in heaven now and look after me. They sent (Y/N). Mom told me."
Spencer doesn't know how to respond to that, although he's curious about the last thing he said.
"What did your mom tell you?"
"When she left me in the closet. She told me I was going to be fine. That good people would find me and take care of me. And (Y/N) found me. She's good people."
Spencer's heart protrudes with pride and love as he sees how the boy recognizes you as a good person and seems to appreciate you much more than he thought.
"She is," Spencer concedes, with a little tremble in his voice.
"You like her?"
Spencer's cheeks blush. Even a 4-year-old can catch how hooked he is for you.
"What makes you think so?"
"You look at her like dad looks to mom. And my mom told me when people look like that is because they like each other."
"You're a very clever boy, Elliot. And you're right. I like her. We are married, actually. Do you know what is that?"
The kid nods, pointing to the gold band adorning Spencer's ring finger.
"Exactly."
---------------
After a few hours, you return to the BAU and find Elliot asleep in Spencer's arms, who is lying on the office couch.
A sad smile crosses your face. On the one hand, the image triggers so much sweetness, seeing your husband, the love of your life, taking care of a little one who needs so much love and care. But on the other hand, the certainty that there is nothing you can do to change the destiny of that little boy who, at such a young age, has already experienced such terrible things.
You are so absorbed in the image that you don't hear Garcia until she is next to you.
"This pair hasn't wasted any time. Elliot colored for a long time while he asked Spencer everything he could think of. Of course, Boy Wonder was fascinated to answer all his questions. Afterward, they gave a tour of the floor; they even ran through the hallways. They even went to play football in the parking lot. That's why they are both exhausted."
"My husband running through the hallways and playing football? Who would have thought," You joke. Garcia nods, smiling and placing a hand on your shoulder.
"How do you feel?" She also realizes how difficult this case has been for you.
"More rested, although until this is over, I don't know how I'll really deal with this."
You wouldn't have to wait long to get to that point. Just as the social worker comes to check Elliot's case and, inevitably, takes him away, Garcia gets a call from Hotch saying they have the unsub in custody.
Everything happens too fast to process, and the only thing you manage to do is sit next to Elliot while Spencer talks to Nancy, the social worker, and tells her the details of the case. The kid is awake now and telling you everything about his afternoon with Spencer.
When Nancy and Spencer peek in the door, you know what it's about. Turning to Elliot, you talk to him softly.
"Sweetheart, this is Nancy. She wants to ask you some questions. Is that okay with you?" you probe. The kid lifts his gaze to the woman at the door and frowns.
"About mommy and daddy?"
He's too smart and perceptive for his own good, you tell yourself.
"A few, yes. But you can say only what you are comfortable with, okay?"
Elliot does not look very convinced.
"Can you stay?"
Your eyes soften as you exchange a knowing look with Spencer.
"I'm sorry, dear, but I can't."
"And Spencer can stay?"
"I can't either. I'm sorry, buddy. But we promise we are going to be right outside," Spencer affirms.
Elliot reluctantly agrees, and you leave him with Nancy. Once you're out of their sight, you feel tears begin to roll down your cheeks. You turn to look at Spencer, and you see his glassy eyes, too.
He takes your hand. "Let's talk in a more private place," he tells you, entering another of the offices nearby.
Closing the door, you give free rein to your emotions and begin to sob. Spencer hugs you tight, and he cries with you. You two know you need to hold each other up right now.
When you feel you have released some of the tension, you both separate from your embrace and sit in chairs adjacent to each other. Spencer holds your hand.
You still can't believe the little boy is going to get into the system. You bite your lip in pure frustration.
"I know," Spencer says. "I don't like the idea either, but someone has to take care of him. More so now that the case is closed."
"Does the bastard even understand the damage he has caused?"
It is a rhetorical question because even if the answer were positive, it does not change the fate of little Elliot in any way.
Spencer is affected, too. During the time they spent together, he became fond of Elliot and stole his heart in the same way he did with you.
To be honest, in the last few hours, Spencer has been mulling over an idea, but he needs to talk to you first. Although he already guesses what your position could be in the matter.
"Maybe we can do something," Spencer muses, and you look at him baffled.
"We do?" you question. Spencer nods, smiling at you.
You are trying to read your husband, but his warm smile and understanding eyes won't let you anticipate what he will say to you.
With a hand stroking your cheek, he spoke next.
"Well, if you ask me, Elliot Reid has a nice ring to it."
Your eyes widen at his words.
"What? Are you saying that we- Spencer, you are suggesting that we -"
It's not that it hasn't crossed your mind. But you didn't think it was something Spencer might have considered. Although thinking about it and knowing your husband, his heart and kindness have no limits.
"We can do it. I mean, it's not going to be easy, but we could try. I think Elliot is worth it the effort."
For a moment, you're at a loss for words. Shaking your head, you are debating the idea.
"Spencer, if you only are thinking of doing this for me, it's not fair."
This time, he shakes his head before cupping your cheeks with both hands.
"Hey. If I'm suggesting the idea, it is for all of us. Elliot needs who can take care of him. And we talked about having kids a while ago, remember?"
It's true. Before getting married, you talked about it and agreed it was something you both wanted, but not yet. After two years of marriage, you had not discussed the topic again because it was tacit that you both wanted it eventually.
"Yeah, but what we talked about was me getting pregnant. This is different."
Spencer chuckles. You're right about that. But for him, it doesn't change his mind about it.
"The method? Yes. But the outcome is the same. A family. Our family."
"Are you serious about this?" You ask him, locking eyes with him as you hold his hands, pulling them out of your face.
"Absolutely," Spencer replies right away. "Is this something you want too? It won't be easy, though. There will be a lot of paperwork and interviews, and we'll have to make adjustments to our routines. And if everything goes well, we could move to a bigger house, in a neighborhood with good schools. I could lower my workload here and start teaching," he rambles, and you start giggling out of nervousness and excitement.
"I want to try this. And there is no other person more perfect than you, with whom I want to try it. I love you, Spencer Reid."
"And I love you, (Y/N) Reid."
A tender kiss seals the moment, and you're sure you've never felt so confident about doing something like this. Or at least try.
---------------
Spencer was right.
It took time and work.
Months passed before you got the news that you could actually adopt Elliot.
However, while the process was happening, you became Elliot's temporary home.
If Hotch did something to make that happen, nobody mentioned it.
With periodic visits from the social worker, you showed how well cared for he was and how good he adapted to your family.
You stopped working at the BAU and started teaching. Something Spencer had suggested for him, but you decided to give it a try first.
And you never have regretted your decision.
Elliot is now part of your family. The boy you found scared inside a closet can now smile again and feel safe with you and Spencer next to him.

Tumblr media
summary: spencer's hair is getting too long
pairing: spencer reid x fem bau! reader
warnings: fluff, mentions of spencer getting shot
-------------------------
Spencer. Spencer got shot.
-------------------------
The panic of four weeks ago had settled into a steady routine of waking him up to do his stretches, making him breakfast, eating breakfast with him in bed, helping him up, helping him while he showered, and getting him dressed to go to work. You could tell he was being driven crazy by not being able to do things for himself, especially considering his entire life he’d had to be independent. But now, he had you.
Another thing Spencer missed was being able to go on cases with you. He wasn’t cleared to fly so every night he was going home to an empty bed and Penelope helping him instead of you. That was the last six nights. Tonight, you’d be in his bed, in his arms, and he’d be happy.
-------------------------
You turned the lock into Spencer’s apartment and before you even pulled the keys out, Spencer’s arms were around you.
“I missed you,” he smiled as you hugged him back.
“Spencer, stop standing on your leg!” you scolded, letting go of him so that he could lean on his crutches again. He rolled his eyes but followed your instructions and you kissed him on the cheek. “How are you?” You asked, dropping your bags by the bedroom door and locking the front door behind you. Spencer sat down on the couch and beckoned you to sit beside him, so you did.
“Fine, physio got a bit easier this week,” Spencer started in on a long ramble about his week and as he did he kept brushing his hair out of his face. "I need to get a hair cut-" As he spoke you grabbed the hair tie off your wrist tied his hair into a bun at the back of his head. He trailed off in his sentence and stared at you in your proximity.
“What?” You chuckled, warmth creeping up your body as his hands landed themselves in your back.
“You’re just so beautiful,” he smiled. At once you were struck by it, Spencer looked ridiculously hot with his hair up. The small overgrown stubble, the way the side of his lip tilted up when he smiled at you, the way he was looking at you. All of it. He was so pretty.
“So are you,” you smiled and kissed him softly. His hands smoothed up your back and pulled you even closer, and the kiss was searing. Spencer kisses with his whole body, obviously, but this was something different. It was just him. The way he held you like he never wanted to let go, the way wisps of his hair had fallen out and were brushing softly against your skin, the way his body felt against yours.
He pulled away, out of breath and panting. He rested his forehead on your and let out a breathy chuckle. “I love you so much.”
“I love you too.”

come to me
you and spencer have plans on going out to dinner but when you insist on coming to him first while he's wrapping up at work things don't go as planned
smut tffff warnings/tags: spencer reid x fem!reader, fluff, fingering, munch!spencer, softdom!spencer, semi public sex, praise, a bit of overstimulation, this is my first fic dont make fun of me.. dk how to end fics
spencer is still in the bullpen, carefully gathering the last of his things while everyone else is slowly filing out of the room. derek is the last to leave, hanging around spencers desk frowning down at his phone after everyone else is gone.
he finally looks up at him. "coffee?" spencer turns to face him, drawing his lips into a line and looking up like he's thinking extra hard. "rain check?" derek raises a knowing eyebrow at his grin, smiling back and wiggling his fingers goodbye. "have fun pretty boy."
it doesn't take him long to finish cleaning his desk, and when he's done he gets out of his chair to stand and lean on the table instead, waiting for you. spencer wanted to be the one to pick you up and take you to the restaurant you had picked out beforehand, but you insisted on coming to him.
he doesn't have to wait long though. a minute or two later, your face appears through the glass doors and you hurry inside, for a second, you just watch each other from across the room. spencers eyes light up immediately upon seeing you. it was the way your doll like lashes accentuated your eyes with the peachy pink blush softly blended up your cheekbone, or maybe it was the color on your lips and the way it made them look edible, whichever it was it set something off in spencers brain like a light switch. then you smile, your cheeks starting to flush a little more pink, and spencer moves. it only takes a couple of steps for spencer to be in front of you, but he takes them slowly.
he lets his eyes wonder down, you play with the pendant on your necklace and spencer raises his eyebrows faintly as if the innocent gesture is something intriguing. your chest is slightly angled towards him making how tight the top of your dress is impossible to ignore, he can't help but picture the way you'd look arching your back into him as he teases you from beneath him. barely being able to take in the sight of you, his shirt starts to feel a little tighter and the temperature seems to have risen. when spencer gets to you he stops just shy of contact, and you straighten up a little, drop the necklace and move your hands to his shoulders.
at the same time, spencer looks at you and reaches out with one hand, trailing down your back and stopping right at the indent of your waist. the touch is so light you can barely feel it, but you shiver anyway. spencer smiles his tiny smile, a wry twist of lips that would be easy to miss if you weren't watching for it. spencer lifts his eyes from where they're stuck on your lips and this time smiles at you, wide and soft. "hi angel" he gushes, and before you can respond he steps closer, close enough now that you would topple over without his hands on your waist to keep you stable. spencer tilts his head to press a soft kiss to the corner of your mouth before kissing you full on the lips. it's gentle, almost chaste.
you take a miniature step back to giggle but spencer only brings you closer, peppering your face with kisses. "hi baby" he keeps his arms around you, his grip pulling you in for a hug now. it had only been three days since you'd seen him last but it could've been three hours and spencer would always greet you the same. your arms wrap around his neck to deepen the hug, "did you miss me?" a rhetorical question. he doesn't say anything but hum and push his head into the crook of your neck. causing you to lift your shoulder up and twist your head into his like a reflex, the neck being your soft spot, spencer leaves a kiss before lifting his head back up. now it's his turn to take a step back and move his hands to rest on your hips, "is that even a question?" he carefully spins the both of you around.
"well did you? i need to be sure, cause i know i missed you." he stops there, "of course i did, my answer will never change." his hands squeezing lightly where they sat on your hips, and he smiles again, a little wider this time. you grab the end of his tie, and slowly, inch by inch, you begin to walk backwards reeling him in until the two of you reach his desk with barely room for air between your lips. you stop pulling, loosening your grip on the tie without letting it go, and wait for spencer to close the distance. he just studies your face, focusing on falling in love with your features for the fifteen-hundredth time. he tries to open his mouth to speak but it only takes a second. spencer, too slow to react, let's you take the initiative. you replace the words about to leave his mouth with a kiss. you lift yourself up onto his desk and spencer steps closer, close enough now that you have to spread your legs so he can fit between them. he stops there, his now hands resting lightly where they're cupped around your legs just above your knees, "you're so pretty" he kisses you again, "you look beautiful" another kiss, "i missed you so much" and he looks down. your dress pooled at the top of your thighs, purple panties just barely showing, legs spread open for him on his desk, and his eyes widen. it's like the sound of him clearing his own throat brings him back to reality. he looks up at your face, back down to your thighs and your face again. you make an attempt to kiss him, "not here" he manages to say before looking down at your thighs once more, and he pulls the dress down to cover you up decently enough before beginning to back up.
the absence of his body heat between your legs makes you frown. looking down and shifting on the desk to fix your posture and dress, you look up at spencer and his tight slacks accompanied by a growing buldge gains your attention. you reach out to touch him and he catches your hand, "not here" he repeats. "spencer" you whine, "do you see where we are" he says at a whisper leaning into your ear. when he takes a look at the pout forming on your face he realizes he won't be able to turn you down. "come here" he helps you off the desk and takes your hand, leading you out of the bullpen.
"where are we going?" you yelp as he walks at a pace too fast for you to keep up with. almost stumbling on your heels, trying to pay attention to where he's leading you, you suddenly stop and look up confused. spencer looks around before slowly opening a door to a dark office. "here's okay, is here okay?" the rapidity of the situation making you laugh, "it's a bit dark" you can barely make out the features of spencers face. "is this okay?" he has no trouble finding your hips once more, "yes, come here" before you know it you're picking up where you left off as if there was a pause and play button. he lifts you onto the desk and fits himself between your legs like a puzzle, more eager this time. his large hands grip at your thighs and messily push your dress up.
you wrap your arms around his neck and bring him in for a kiss, he deepens the kiss. you roll his lip between your teeth until spencer hitches your legs tighter around his waist, pressing the two of you together. your whole body feels flushed when spencer finally pulls away, laying his hand against your sternum to stop you from leaning in for another kiss. you whimper a little as the gentle stroke of spencers thumb raises goosebumps across your skin. slowly, spencer drops to his knees. he leans in so he can press a kiss to the inside of your knee, you clutch the hem of your dress in your hands, bunching it up so the skirt doesn't cover spencers face. you want to watch the flush spread across his face as he slowly kisses his way up from your knee, soft whispers of contact trailing up your thigh.
spencer stops at the crease of your thigh, pressing tiny kisses to the hot skin there. you whine a little, trying to tilt your hips to get his mouth where you want it, "spencer" but you can't get him to move. you let go of your dress and slip one hand between your legs. you can feel spencers breath on your fingers when he breaks away from your thighs to press a kiss against your knuckles. you press the tips of your fingers against spencers lips for a second before hooking two of them into the side of your underwear and pulling it aside, laying yourself bare. spencer tilts his head back for a second to look at you, slowly dragging his teeth over his lower lip. you should probably feel a little embarrassed, sitting there in his workplace with your cunt out, but instead you feel almost feverish with anticipation.
spencer drops his gaze and presses forward, shouldering your thighs further apart, just wide enough for you to feel the stretch. he's not coy this time, barely skimming your thighs before pressing the flat of his tongue directly against your clit, you moan softly at the contact. spencer barely wastes any time exploring. it seems like after only a few short, hard licks he knows as much as he needs to. his shoulders wiggle just a little when he moves them under your legs, wrapping his hands back around to dig his fingers into your thighs. you wonder if you'll have bruises there tomorrow.
you let go of the rest of your dress, letting it pool around your waist, and slip your hand under your knee, pulling your leg up and open further. the stretch in your thighs is almost too much now, but your entire body feels like a guitar string, taut and pluckable. between your legs, spencer wraps his lips around your clit, long firm sucks paired with gentler strokes of his tongue, until you're panting. suddenly, nothing. spencer pulls away and looks up at you, a little smile on his lips despite the bright red flush across his cheeks. his mouth is a little swollen and slick, "i love you" you want to pull him to his feet so you can taste yourself on his lips, but you don't think you can move your arms and don't want spencers mouth to get too far away from your cunt. "i love y-"
spencer tilts his head to press a kiss high on the inside of your thigh, all you can do is moan in response, following it with a short, sharp, bite. that one will definitely bruise. you gasp a little, your eyes fluttering closed, and trying to shift your hips enough to get spencers mouth back on you, but you can't. spencer holds you tightly and looks up at you, dragging his tongue across his lower lip and stretching his thumb out to rub circles around your clit. you whimper, arching your back into the sensation just like spencer pictured. you can feel a puff of warm air against your thigh when spencer laughs, before he finally leans back in and runs the tip of his tongue around your entrance, pressing just barely inside.
you gasp, barely managing not to kick spencer in the back. you think you can feel yourself getting wetter, trying to clench down hard around spencers tongue. there's a brief moment of disconnect as spencers shoulders shift under your legs and then he's back, two fingers pressing hard against your clit before slipping inside you and twisting. you wail, dropping your hold on your leg to clutch at the edge of the table. spencer only pauses to grin again, before diving back in with his tongue. this time, he's relentless. the fast, solid pressure of his tongue and the slow flex of his fingers have you gasping and begging so desperately your words start to run together. the soft whine of you saying "spencer", the only thing he can make out in your incoherent pleas, was music to his ears. he twists his fingers, rubbing slow circles in just the right spot inside you, and you come hard, pressing your face into your own shoulder to muffle the sound.
spencer keeps his mouth on you as you shake through it, clenching around his fingers and shivering as spencer coaxes even more aftershocks out of you. when it finally becomes too much you whimper, trying to twist your hips away and spencer pulls back, fingers and tongue gone in an instant. you feel empty, and have to resist the urge to press your thighs together.
you stare at each other for a moment with only the the faint lights from outside shining inside, breath slowing down in sync. you finally let go of your underwear, flexing your fingers to get the feeling back in them. "it's nerves getting squished," spencer begins, "which confuses the message to the brain. that's why we get the pins and needles; that’s your brain being confused and sending the wrong signals to your nerves." you stare at him. "shut up" you grab spencers tie and pull him up for another kiss, "once the pressure on the nerve is released it goes back to normal. if you think about it, it’s pretty clever. if we had no way of knowing when we’re doing damage to our nerves and no motivation to rectify the issue, we’d be pretty screwed." he smiles stupidly and you pull him back in, hungrier this time. spencer kisses back just as hard, his clean hand wound into your hair. after a minute or two, the kiss slows down, softening until it ends and spencer leans his head back a little to look at you. you can't help but laugh at the way spencer is carefully keeping his right hand away from you. you look around then reach behind yourself for a tissue and take spencers hand in yours, "here" carefully cleaning off his wet fingers. spencer smiles at you.
"thank you" you blush but dont look away, the tips of your fingers still linked with his. "oh my god!" you exclaim, smile dropping. spencer dramatically mimics your facial expression oblivious as to what's going on. "our date!"

The pillows on your previously claimed side of the bed smelled like your boyfriend’s shampoo, laying on your side, you could only smell the tea tree through one nostril as you brought the blanket further up on your body, tucking the fabric beneath your chin and closing your eyes.
You tried to close your eyes and fall asleep, but the whistling of your nose prevented your brain from being fully able to relax. While you were hyperfocused on your attempts to sleep, you didn’t even notice Spencer coming home until the bedroom door opened, leaving a stream of light that lead straight to your face.
An embarrassing keening noise escaped your throat as you rolled over in the bed, trying to evade the warm light from the living room as you did so. “Hey, love,” Spencer greeted you gently, making note of the darkness of the room, probably thinking you had a headache instead of whatever demon had decided to take over your immune system.
What you initially thought was a migraine had revealed itself as what was most likely the flu. You mumbled an incoherent greeting as you stared in the direction of the bedroom window. Yesterday, you had felt a rush of energy, prompting you to cheat a blanket up against the blinds, blocking any and all light from entering your sick cave.
You heard the door click closed and felt the mattress dip down slightly beneath you, “What’s wrong?” His voice was tentative, placing a hand on your blanket-laden hip and trying to figure out why you were cocooned in bed at two in the afternoon. Gingerly, Spencer reached a hand up to sweep a lock of hair off of your sticky forehead, in the process, his fingers felt just how sweltering your skin was. “Oh, honey,” he whispered sympathetically, pulling the blanket down and revealing your sweat-dampened skin.
Releasing a pathetic whimper, you pawed at the fabric of the blanket. Despite the heat emanating from your body, you were freezing. “I feel like I went through a trash compactor,” you mumbled miserably, blinking at Spencer as he tried to haul you into a sitting position. “Spence, wait,” you said as he pulled your torso upright, you wavered unsteadily on top of the bed, your head felt like it weighed the same as a kettlebell.
“Wait, what?” He asked quickly, taking up an oh-god-are-you-going-to-throw-up tone with you. His hand was placed on the small of your back, rubbing small circles over the fabric of your hoodie until you stopped swaying.
You frowned as you looked up at him, meeting his brown eyes, “I have germs.”
Spencer’s gaze softened as he cupped your flushed cheeks in his hands, “What I think you have is the flu, baby. Did you go to a doctor while I was gone?” He asked, obviously concerned over the fact that when he left for a case, you were fine, but upon his return, you were immobile in bed.
Reaching your arms up as Spencer tugged your hoodie over your head, providing you with a moment of relief as you were left in your t-shirt. “I thought I’d just tough it out,” you muttered as your boyfriend tossed your discarded clothes in the laundry hamper.
“Doctors aren’t enemies,” Spencer chided gently, smoothing your hair back for just a moment before moving the bedroom trash can to your bedside – not fully convinced that you weren’t going to ralph off the edge of the bed at any given moment.
You hummed as you watched his movements, he walked into the bathroom and returned with a damp wash cloth, draping it over your head and pressing the cool fabric into your skin. “I have grown rather fond of you,” you responded absentmindedly as you closed your eyes and basked in the relief that the washcloth was providing you.
Moving his hands and trusting that the cloth would remain on your forehead, Spencer returned to the bathroom, rifling through the drawers before he came back into the bedroom with a thermometer in hand, “Open,” he instructed, waiting for you to open your mouth before he stuck the bulb under your tongue, and you clamped your lips shut around it. “I wish you had told me you were sick,” he said, knowing full well that you couldn’t respond to him with the thermometer in your mouth.
Part of you considered the idea that he said that because you couldn’t respond.
When the thermometer beeped, he pulled it from your mouth, flashing the results in your face, “One-hundred and one,” he read aloud. “How long have you been sick?”
“They call me Heatmiser,” you mumbled wearily, sitting up was beginning to take too much of your energy. Your fever-addled brain didn’t even register that he had asked you a question.
Spencer’s brows furrowed in confusion, “Who is Heatmiser?” He asked, taking the washcloth from your forehead and looking at your flushed skin.
Your eyes narrowed, “You don’t know Heatmiser? We have to watch Heatmiser,” you told him, looking around in the bed for your laptop.
“Are you hallucinating? Do we need to go to the ER?” Spencer asked you, tone stiff and serious as he thought you were delusional with fever.
Shaking your head, your shoulders slumped forward, “’m not hallucinating, I just feel gross.”
Crouching down to the floor so you wouldn’t have to look up to meet his eyes, Spencer took your clammy hand in one of yours, “I know, baby. Do you want to take a shower? It might help you feel better to rinse off and put on new clothes.”
You leaned back in bed, head falling on soft, tea tree scented pillows. “Later?” You negotiated, “Being vertical makes my head spin.”
He nodded, pulling your blanket up and over your lap, “Have you taken anything? I really want to try to get your fever down.”
Shaking your head almost imperceptibly, you tilted your head to the side, “Didn’t take anything,” you answered.
“Alright,” he said, standing back up and pressing a tender kiss to your forehead, “I’ll be right back with some water and Tylenol.”
Offering him a halfhearted smile, you fiddled with the soft blanket that covered your lap, “And then we can do Heatmiser?” You asked him hopefully, watching Spencer pass through the doorway into the kitchen.
“Sure, baby, then we can do Heatmiser,” he placated, still not entirely sure what you were talking about.

please i LOVE the dynamic of flirty reader and spencer in little baby lime… could we get some more of them together? maybe with reader flirting with the team and flustered spencer again it made me giggle. also the pregnancy part was truly the cherry on top 😌 LOVE UR WRITING!!
i would’ve included henry but i wanted to keep this around sea2-3 reid.
it’s bring your kids to work day and spencer doesn’t have his kid yet, but any excuse to bring you to work he’ll take. and hotch brought jack with him and he loves to talk with you whenever there’s a silent moment.
“can i be the baby’s friend?” the young boy stood next to you while you sat in spencer’s desk chair. you smiled at the young boy as you kept rubbing soothing circles over your growing bump, “of course, but you’ll be older than them, are you okay with waiting?” watching how jack twisted his torso with his hands behind his back.
“i’ll try. my dad says patience is a very important lesson while growing up.” tilting his head to the side. you could see hints of hotch in the little face.
“it is. we practice patience every day, like i’m being very patient for my baby to arrive. and you’re probably very patience waiting for your birthday so you can have cake and presents.” reaching your hands out to start tickling the boy causing him to squirm and screech a bit too loud for a federal office.
“hey, why are we left out of the fun?” a deep voice entered the area and you stopped your attack to see hotch and spencer smiling at both of you. jack stepped closer to wrap his arms around your left bicep and lean his head to your shoulder, “cause she’s holding my new friend. and she’s pretty.” whispering the last part but with him next to your ear it was crystal clear and you couldn’t help a coo.
spencer nodded, “the prettiest.” and you rolled your eyes in a tease, “oh please, you just say that cause i have your baby.” stretching your legs out.
hotch held out his hand and jerked his head, “come on buddy, let’s leave them alone for now. y/n can see you later.” then jack looked to you quickly, “can we play later?”
“of course, but i’m very delicate right now. we don’t want to hurt your friend.” giving a tiny pat onto his cheek before he rushed to his dad’s side.
“you’re a natural already,” spencer whispered to the crown of your head before leaving a kiss. he then sat on the edge of his desk with his arms crossed over his chest.
you hummed, “and you’re gonna be so sexy being a young hot dilf. gonna need to restrain myself or else they’ll have a sibling quickly.” jumping your brows and smirking.
spencer’s eyes widened while his cheeks and ears flushed red quickly. “she always been this feisty?” derek strode up while sipping on a cup of coffee.
now you crossed your arms over your growing chest, “wouldn’t you like to know, playboy. but that train let the station and is only circling reid island.” derek chuckled lowly, “i’ll take that as a yes.”

You and your fellow agents sat around the round table in the conference room. A new case had come to light, JJ gathering you all before you even had time to sit down at your desk. Fresh coffee sat in front of you and just the smell brought comfort. You glanced around the table, missing one of your agents. Spencer. Usually he beat you to work every morning, reprimanding and teasing you about it.
“If you’d drink the coffee here instead of stopping every morning on your way to work, you’d actually be on time and beat me here.” Spencer teases following you through the glass double doors. He was in his usual work attire - slacks and a button up. His hair a curly mess. His messenger bag hung over his shoulder.
You turned around to face him, walking backwards a few steps and made a face, mocking him, “I’m not drinking that tap water you all call coffee.” You saluted your coffee cup toward him, “I will always be late for a nice, fresh cup of coffee.”
“Where’s Spencer?” You asked, sipping on your coffee and flipping open the case file JJ tossed in front of you.
She took a moment to glance around the room, perplexed Spencer wasn’t here yet. “I actually don’t know.” She peeked out the window overlooking the rest of the office, “Usually he beats you here.”
JJ went on with the meeting, turning on the TV screen to show pictures of the crime scene and now the next missing and possible victim.
“Sorry I’m late-” Spencer says, out of breath as he enters the room in a rush. “I had an appointment and it ran later than expected -” He tosses his bag on the ground with a thud, sitting down and oblivious to the surprised looks from his fellow agents.
Glasses. Spencer was wearing glasses. Your jaw dropped at this new sight, the pen you were chewing on, hanging against your lips. You wouldn’t disagree, Spencer Reid was a very attractive man. I mean you’d admitted that multiple times, but he was also your coworker. A relationship with a coworker could create a rocky atmosphere for the BAU.
He always been an eye candy to look at, however, this new look tossed you over the edge, changing something inside you. You needed him. His touch, his lips against yours. You were overwhelmed with such affection and adoration. Where was this coming from? Immediately your mind went dirty, your face flushed with embarrassment at having those thoughts, scared someone else could hear them.
Spencer met your eyes from across the table, a new twinkle in his eye, “What did I miss?” He’d noticed the effect he had on you, he could read you like a book.
You couldn’t even look him the eye. God what was this man doing to you. A wave of warmth was felt through your body; spreading to your core as new fantasies come to light. A dark mahogany desk... Spencer in a button up, loosening the tie around his neck. Oh god. You sat up quickly as if you were just touched by a hot poker and composed yourself, “JJ was just telling us about the last victims who were found-” Your eyes pleadingly glanced at JJ and the screen behind her.
“Right anyways-”
Everyone had settled into their seats on the jet and you stood, slipping behind the curtain to grab a water bottle from the mini fridge. When you stood back up, you were met with Spencer’s chest, “Shit--Spencer.”
“Did I scare you?” He smiles in triumph, “You’re so jumpy.” He tilted his head as he observed the change in you.
You stepped out of the way as Spencer reached for mini fridge, fumbling for an excuse. “Watched a scary movie last night.”
He hums in response turning to face you, the small countertop digging into your back as you tried to put enough space between you and Spencer. “Which movie?” He glances back over his shoulder, checking the curtain is closed.
You glanced around him as well, wondering what he was looking for, but finally meeting his eyes, “oh you know.. I think it was scream?”
He closes the space between the two of you, slipping his hands behind you and  placing them firmly on the countertop behind you.
“Spencer!” A quiet gasp escaped your lips as his body pressed against yours.
“Shhh...” He places his index against your lips as he leans in close, the smell of his aftershave and minty breath hitting you in a wave. His breath is hot against your neck as his lips dance along your neck.
Your entire body submits to his touch. oh god.
“Wouldn’t want them to know what we’ve been up to these last couple months, now would we?”

nsfw | mdni
entering your relationship with spencer, you knew he was like the most virgin of virgins. he had never really kissed anyone before. he most certainly had never had sex at all. let alone he’s never had anyone touch him in a sexual manner. so you had decided to ease him into it. the first few months of your relationship were innocent. you taught him how to kiss, how to really enjoy someone’s company romantically. and spencer was such an amazing boyfriend almost right off the bat that it was just great.
after a few months, you guys began talking about sex. with hot make out sessions and hands roaming one another, it was inevitable. but you wanted spencer to ease into sex at a rate that’s most comfortable for him. he had jerked off in front of you, watched you as you fingered yourself in front of him. you gave him numerous handjobs. just as he has fingered you. and now, it was time for oral.
so here you were, on your knees, with spencer’s cock in your mouth as he sat on the couch, looking at you. his expression was gorgeous. his cheeks were flushed and his mouth was agape in an “o”. his beautiful brown hair had fallen into his face slightly. he had one hand gripping the couch while the other was entangled in your hair.
“o-oh,” spencer moaned as you hollowed your cheeks around his length, moving your head up and down slowly. coming up, you swirled your tongue around his tip, making spencer jolt from the pleasure. “holy shit,” he said as he threw his head back.
spencer wasn’t afraid to moan. that was something you taught him. you wanted him to show you just how good you made him feel. and therefore, he never shied away from being vocal. as you began to speed up your movements, the grip spencer had in your hair tightened. you knew he wouldn’t last too long.
you brought your hand to the base of his cock, jerking off what you couldn’t fit into your mouth. your head and hand moved rhythmically together as you bobbed up and down. “it feels so good,” spencer whined, unable to help the thrusting of his hips as he chased the pleasure.
and with a few more movements, his cock was stiffening in your mouth as spencer’s moans grew louder. he was breathing heavily, looking down at you while you looked up at him. “i’m gonna- oh fuck,” he moaned as he began cumming inside of your mouth. he had expected you to pull off. but you didn’t. you stayed put, sucking spencer through his orgasm and swallowing his cum. when he finally finished, you pulled off of his cock, leaving a trail of spit and cum.
spencer’s breathing was harsh, looking at you with a fucked out expression. “i think that’s the best thing i’ve ever experienced,” he said breathlessly.
you laughed, shaking your head. “that’s just because you haven’t fucked me yet,” you exclaimed, standing up and sitting down next to your lovely boyfriend on the couch. “but for now, it’s time for you to learn how to eat me out.”
and spencer grinned, sliding off of the couch and going on his knees in front of you. “i’ll gladly learn how to please you, my love.”
and so he did. spencer was always a fast learner.

Ever the observer, Spencer was always the first to notice when something was weighing on your mind. And though he may be the first, it never takes long for the others to catch one, being profilers for the FBI and all. Even Penelope caught on soon enough after you declined a croissant she picked up for you from your favorite bakery. I mean, you love their croissants! Why would you decline? It wasn’t just about the food, though. You also had to force your smile bigger when she told you about some funny antics her cat had gotten up to the other day.
Spencer had noticed your mood change when you added almost as much sugar to your coffee as he did. He had an excuse, he stayed up late making phone calls and writing out emails to get things in order for his mom. Why were you staying up late?
You were damn near disassociating every other minute, and he knew he wanted and needed to do something or at least say something to you, offer you an outlet.
You were much less talkative today and barely got up from your desk if not for water or to use the restroom. You’d fidget with little trinkets on your desk but keep to yourself. Everyone has days where they don’t feel up to talking, but this was quite unusual for you, a usual chatterbox.
The day was a slow one, a day crammed with paperwork, and so Hotch decided to let you all leave earlier than usual.
You rushed through packing up, wanting to get home as fast as possible. You were done with the day before it even started, and you’re just glad to get out of this stuffy workplace.
Penelope practically teleported right behind Spencer, impatiently tapping on his shoulder.
“You noticed pretty girl’s unusual mood, right?” She asked the doctor, poking her head beside his shoulder. He side eyed her, clearly thrown off by the proximity.
“Sorry,” Garcia laughed, backing off. “But you noticed, right?” she persisted.
“Yeah, I guess I did.” He turned his attention back to his Rubik’s cube, turning it this way and that way. He raised his eyebrows in a goofy way as he presented it to Penelope.
“Very impressive, smarty, but I’m talking about Y/N. Something’s off. She declined my croissant! She’s never declined a fresh baked croissant!” Her tone was very passionate, she really cared about you and always paid attention to the little things. Spencer shrugged.
“Well, I assumed she was having a bad day. By the way he facial expression would drop suddenly throughout the day and–“
“I know what a sad person looks like. I don’t want to bicker with you, ever, I just want to know how to help a friend out,” she frowned, jutting out her lip in a pout.
Spencer understood how she felt, and he spun around in his chair to give her his full attention.
“You like to give gifts, right? Maybe a gift would cheer her up, and you could pay her a visit and see if she’d like to open up to you?”
It was as if a lightbulb went off in Penelope’s brain the second he mentioned gift giving, her specialty. She didn’t have time to craft something, but she did remember you mentioning something the other day about how you were walking in the city when you passed by a shop with the cutest panda stuffed animal in the display window. You told her about the things you’d do for one and how you used to have one just like it as a kid, but it got left behind when you moved.
“I swear, if I can get this for Y/N she’ll never be sad again! Or at least that’s what she told me..” she trailed off, thinking through her plan a bit more.
“Get what for her?”
She had a devious little smile on her face, a chuckle bubbling from her. “Oh, just a cute little plushie.”
The blonde woman quickly pulled out her phone, trying to see if she was able to find the stuffed animal online. She was.
“A 30 dollar stuffed animal,” he laughed to himself, eyes scanning over the bright screen.
“Not when I have a coupon for that store!” She giggled. “What? They sell really cute items.”
“I believe you.”
“Okay, so when are you going to go pick it up?” She excitedly asked.
“When am I going to pick it up?”
“Yeah, you. I have plans with JJ tonight.”
“I- I don’t know about that Penelope. I mean, I’d love to, really, but I’m busy with setting things up for my mom–”
“Oh, you’re gonna do it pretty boy. And I’d love to too, but plans.” She cut him off, about ready to drag him up by the sleeve of his blazer and see him out the building.
He wouldn’t lie by saying that the idea of checking up on you wasn’t nerve wracking, because it was. He’d only been to your place once for a girls (and Spencer) night, but still, showing up unannounced seems like a bit of a creepy move. Still, he cared for you, and above all else you were a friend, a valuable person in his life and admittedly, it hurt to see you struggling with something, even if he didn’t know what, especially if he didn’t know what. He didn’t like being kept in the dark, though he respected people’s privacy. He’d at least give it a shot.
“I- okay.” He caved, giving into the woman’s wishes.
Spencer had an awkward smile on his face, nervous as if anyone in the store knew what he was there for, which wasn’t anything bad in the slightest, he was just nervous to have to talk one on one with you.
The only time he gave gifts was for his mom’s or his friends’ birthdays, but even then his go-to was usually a book, so this was a bit new. He held on tight to the coupon Penelope gave him, using it to get a discount on the stuffed animal.
Spencer didn’t own many stuffed animals himself, only two from his childhood, both raggedy old things, but well-loved and cherished little guys. But he knew both you and Penelope were stuffie lovers. You two had so much in common, he found it cute. You were two of his bestest friends, but for some reason he thought of you in a slightly different light..
He scratched the thought from his brain, stuffed panda wedged between his arm and side as he knocked thrice on the sturdy wood.
When the door creaked open, it was only your eyes and the top of your head he could see through the sliver you left to peek through.
“Spencer?” You murmured, your voice had the slightest of rasps to it, and taking in the pinkish tint to your eyes and your stuffy nose, he knew you were either sick or crying. He betted at it being the latter.
“Y/N, could I come in?” His voice was low, soft spoken, tone adjusted to match one that you needed to hear in a moment like this.
“Wh-why? What are you doing here..?” You sounded weary, and you were. You’d never doubt that you could trust Spencer, but him showing up at your place at 9 o’clock at night when it’s near pitch black outside was uncharacteristic.
“Pen–“ he stopped himself. Coming over and getting the gift was Penelope’s idea, but he didn’t want you to think he was here under obligation – because he wasn’t. “I noticed you seemed a bit sad today. I was wondering if you needed someone to talk to, because I’m here, and I wanted you to know that.”
You took a moment to mull over his words, before deciding to invite him in.
“Would you, uhm, would you like to come inside?” You swallowed, further opening the door.
“I would, thank you, Y/N.”
He wiped the bottoms of his shoes on the welcome mat before stepping inside and stepping out of his shoes, neatly lining them up besides yours.
When he was finally inside your home is when you noticed the little panda bear he held under his arm. You didn’t want to be that person to point it out when maybe it’s not even for you, but you knew Spencer wasn’t one to own many stuffed animals.
He chuckled, holding out the fluffy bear for you to see. “Cute, isn’t he?”
“That’s the stuffed animal I told Penny about–“ you cut yourself off, staring as he tries to stuff it in your hand. You laugh, gratefully accepting the gift. “Thank you, Spencer. He really is cute, like a real panda.” You smiled down at the bear, then up at Spencer.
“Penelope told me about how you had a similar one as a kid?” He inquired, standing closer to you.
Your eyes were still puffy and red, but talk about the bear has seemed to diverge your attention from whatever made you cry in the first place.
“I did, his name was Goose.” you smiled fondly, thinking back about the memories you had with the stuffie.
“Goose?”
“Yeah, as a kid I was really obsessed with naming my stuffed animals after other animals. I wish I still had him, but he was left behind when we had to move because of my dad’s job.”
“I’m sorry about that. Only roughly 56% of Americans have held onto their childhood stuffed animals? I’m in that percentage of people.” He smiled, gesturing with his hands as he spoke to you.
“I didn’t know that. I still have a couple of mine that aren’t Goose, but I’ve collected quite a few over the years.”
“Mine are just generic teddy bears, nothing too special.” He responded.
“I used to have a whole family of panda bears!” You chimed in, your mood flipped from when he first knocked on your door. By now you’ve moved through the house, sitting criss crossed on your living room couch as he sat next to you, giving you his full attention.
“You must’ve really liked pandas growing up? I know I was fascinated by animals.”
“Well sort of, mainly I just thought they were adorable.” You giggled.
“They definitely are.” A dimpled smile formed on his cheeks as he spoke, and you could tell from the look in his eyes he was about to go full ramble mode. “Did you know that the distinct black-and-white markings of the giant panda have multiple functions. Not just do they add to their cuteness, but they assist the bear in camouflage. The pattern really comes in handy when it needs to hide from predators – such as big cats. Scientists believe that pandas have evolved their colors as a compromise because they are active year-round in both snowy and forested habits. Its belly, rump, neck, and face are white so it can hide in snowy habitats, while the arms and legs are black to help them hide in shade.” He nodded to himself, concluding his short speech of why pandas look the way they do.
He was surprised to say the least when he looked over to see you so close to him. You had a bright smile on your face despite your red eyes and the underlying sadness in them. You were on him in a second, hugging him tight, the stuffed animal dropped beside him.
Spencer was notoriously not a fan of physical contact, but he found himself making an exception, just this once. He trusted you were as germ free as you could be. He let himself wrap his arms around your midsection, holding you close to him. The action made you further melt into the comforting embrace that you’d initiated.
“Thank you, Spencer,” you mumbled into his chest as you still grasped onto him.
“You really don’t have to thank me, Y/N. I just wanted to make sure you were doing okay.” He rubbed his hand in circles on your back sympathetically.
“But I want you to know I’m thankful for you.”
“That’s what friends are for.”
“Mhm, and Spencers are for providing me with information about pandas.” You joked, slowly pulling back.
“Is that your way of asking me to tell you more?” He smirked, looking you in the eyes.
“Maybe.” You laughed, cuddling close to him, stuffed animal back in hand. “Goose 2.0 wants to hear more about his family.” You pouted, moving the bear as if he was alive and pouting with you.
“Well, if Goose 2.0 insists, I guess I’m obligated to.”

My Masterlist
Almost a month had gone by since you left the BAU in Quantico; and even if you tried to see the bright side of things, since Spencer had called off your engagement, life felt like walking around with a hole pierced where your heart used to be. Although, it is important to note, things for Spencer weren’t much better on the other side of the country.
“I don’t know what’s wrong with you, Reid, but I think you should really consider taking some time off work” Emily told Spencer as they were exiting the jet recently landed jet
“I’m alright Prentiss, what happened in the field won’t happen ever again” Spencer scoffed, almost sounding petulant, and exhausted after days with little to no sleep and a complicated case that took an enormous toll on him
“This is not a question Reid, you put your life, the victim’s and your team’s life on the line for what? Because you had a hunch? I’m sorry but in this line of work you can’t just risk it all just because you think so, and you should know that, specially by now” Emily replied, this time with a firm tone that send a shiver trough Spencer’s back; he knew Emily was right, but he really couldn’t admit it, even to himself, that the past month had been hell on earth without you
“I… I’m sorry, I was so sure I could catch the unsub” Spencer tried arguing, but he knew no matter what he said, Emily was right, his head wasn’t in the right place and he ended up jeopardizing the case, and almost letting the unsub walk freely
“I’ll take advantage of the gunshot you received to have you on medical leave for at least two weeks, and hopefully when you come back, your head is clear and you’ll stop doing rookie mistakes” Emily said, trying her best to gift Spencer a compassionate smile
“Alright boss, see you in a fortnight” Spencer said, with a forced smile carrying his go bag, ready to go home; except that, home wasn’t home anymore. “Home” was room 313 of a crappy hotel; even if the mortgage payments for the apartment you two used to share were currently being taken off his bank account. Spencer Reid did not have the heart to step into the apartment he had impulsively bought hoping you’d come back to him.
When Spencer thought about coming home, all he could think about was coming back to you. Your soft embrace, your sparkling eyes, and the way you had to make life better just by being present. Until this day, Spencer could not understand, nor explain, the effect you had on people: you were like a ray of sunlight after a week of rain; whenever he thought of you, he got the same excitement you get when the first flowers of the spring start blooming. Even if he wanted to be stubborn and hold on to his decision of breaking off the engagement, it took every fiber of his being to not drive his car all the way to San Francisco to get you back. But then again, his logical side kicked in and reminded him of all the reasons you couldn’t be together:
He was way older than you, Spencer Reid was convinced that the eight-year difference would take a toll on the relationship, sooner or later
He knew schizophrenia was almost likely to be hereditary, and he didn’t want to put you thought the hell he lived with his mom when he was younger
Your career was just taking off at the FBI, while his was somehow was marked permanently by his time in prison and more than a couple of disciplinary issues; and he wanted nothing to do with your reputation being stained by associating with him
While you were a hell of a profiler, after years at the BAU he knew what the job could do to you, and he did not want to risk you losing your spark with all the trauma the job inflicted
Every single person he has ever loved ended up either death, kidnapped or extremely harmed by being close to him. This was a particularly painful reason, especially because he is not a man of faith, but sometimes, late at night Doctor Spencer Reid wonders if he’s somehow the victim of a prophecy, or a cruel joke of fate considering every single person he has ever loved suffers when they’re around him; and of course, he could not let you suffer, nor put you in any danger because of his ill luck
Sure, whenever he thought of these reasons he called bullshit on himself, but at the end of the day, the decision was made, and you were perfectly safe from him (and his curse) at the other side of the country.
Since the day he called off the engagement, Spencer felt that he was living his life in autopilot. Most of the time, he wasn’t even present at the moment because he was too immersed into his own head, spinning and replaying the dreadful day he broke your heart; which ended up with him making huge mistakes at work, and disappointing René Descartes: as he was not thinking.
Without even noticing, he arrived into his hotel room, sighted, and decided he was too tired to even eat, so he just went to bed.
💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫
After a couple of days of bed rotting, Spencer received an unexpected knock on his hotel door, and it was his dear friend Penelope Garcia.
“How are we doing, boy genius?” the bubbly blonde asked as she came into the messy hotel room. Spencer was known to be a pretty organized person, some would even dare to say he had a small OCD, but from the state of this hotel room, Penelope was both perplexed and alarmed
“I guess you heard about my medical leave” Spencer said taking a seat on the bed with a voice that almost sounded like a grunt
“Yeah… I was pretty surprised when you didn’t show up to the jet, I mean, I knew the injury of the bullet you took in Arkansas wasn’t that devastating” she said, clearly nervous about the topic
“The bullet just grazed my shoulder, I really didn’t need the medical leave” Spencer scoffed rolling his eyes, “So why are you here? Prentiss send you to check up on me?” the young Doctor said facing his friend
“I was just… worried about you… I know… I know things have been difficult since y/n left Virginia” Penelope said, almost rambling, and worried that her words would shake up Spencer.
Everyone at the BAU, knew Spencer Reid was a yapper, nonetheless and since he came back from prison, it was like something inside Spencer died. He was still a genius who held on his mind almost every single piece of information he has ever read, or learn, but something was totally different. He stopped his rambles, he became more reserved, and he built these walls around him and his personal life. Of course, some of this changed when he was with you, once again he had opened up his heart to trust, and his old friends like García, Rossi, JJ, and Prentiss sometimes even felt like they could catch a glimpse of the old Spencer Reid. Unfortunately, Spencer went back to his avoiding and reserved ways once you left the BAU; it almost seemed like you left, and took his heart with you.
“I’m alright, the wound is healing properly, and soon I’ll be back on the field” Spencer rushed to answer, avoiding commenting on you
“What’s wrong with you, Spence?” Penelope dared to ask directly seeing how avoidant he had been lately
“Nothing’s wrong, okay? Prentiss is just exaggerating, and that’s why she made me leave” Spencer said, rolling his eyes at his concerned friend
“You are one of my closest friends, I even dare to call you family Spence, and I know when something is wrong with my family” Penelope said taking a step closer to Spencer “I’ve been giving you your space with the whole y/n situation, I even refrained from asking the juicy details, but something is seriously wrong if you are running toward the unsubs, taking bullets just because, and pushing away the people who care about you” Penelope said, and Spencer realized how much of an ass he was being to his friends, but of course, he knew this was nowhere close to how much of an ass he had been towards you
“I fucked up” Spencer said with a strain of voice, as his eyes were covered by a soft mist of tears
“I know you did Spence, but you can make things better” Penelope said holding her friend in her arms as he silently cried over her shoulder
“y/n hates me… I… I screwed thing up and there’s no coming back from there” Spencer cried as Penelope streaked his hair reassuringly
“I’m sure y/n doesn’t hate you” she said after a pause “Whatever happened between the two of you was probably a misunderstanding that can be resolved” Penelope added with a string of hope on her voice. Nobody knew exactly what had gone on between the two of you; one day you were happily engaged, and the next Monday you had asked for your transfer to the other side of the country, with no explanation or goodbyes
“I… I got scared… I just love y/n so much I didn’t want to drag her down with me. I know I’m screwed up, and complicated to deal with… Also… It may sound stupid, but you know how every single person I’ve loved either dies or leaves? I was so scared out of my mind that something horrible would happen to her, I decided to end the engagement right there on the spot” Spencer admitted put loud for the first time, as tears rolled down his cheeks “You know the worst part? When y/n left town I even bought our apartment, just in case that she wanted to come back, but as days go back, I guess her decision was final, and she’s not coming back” Spencer continued his rant
“I really shouldn’t be telling you this, but I’ve kept tabs on her, since she left Virginia” Penelope said and Spencer’s eyes lit up at the possibility of learning something about you and your whereabouts
“Is she okay? Is she happy? How’s she doing in San Francisco?” Spencer rushed to ask, eager with anticipation
“She’s okay, she’s mostly working with children victims of human trafficking, so he’s been really busy, but overall her performance is alright” Penelope said, debating internally of she should give Spencer the envelope with your information she was caring on her purse
“y/n always enjoyed working with children” Spencer said with a small smile forming into his lips as the image of you popped on his head. He could see you, smiling brightly after solving the pieces that made the cases, the way you’d sight in relief after catching an unsub, and how dedicated you were to your work, he was so proud of you that the thought of you killing it on your new job made his heart flutter with excitement, but ache because the prospect of you coming back, somehow became even more distant
“I… there’s something else… she’s seen somebody new” Penelope said, and Spencer’s heart shattered at the idea of you with someone else. He could barely manage to stand, as his knees grew weak and his throat suddenly got dry “She’s dating an Assistant District Attorney, it’s something fairly new but I thought you should know” the blonde added, deciding she was going to facilitate Spencer all the information she had on you
“I hope he treats her right” Spencer said with a strain of voice as Penelope handed him the envelope she retrieved from her purse
“This is all the info I’ve gathered on y/n, I don’t know what you should do, but I… I hate seeing you like this, and honestly, the two of you were so happy together. I don’t know what happened or of it’s salvageable, but I know in my heart you love her, and she loves you, even if she’s forcing herself to move on, so just… follow your heart Reid, I know it’s hard and scary, but I promise you it’s worth it” Penelope said, cupping her friend’s cheek on her hand
“I don’t know what to say, I mean, of course I love her, but because I love her I have to let her go, I’m dangerous for her” Spencer said, with his eyes lingering from the envelope to his friend
“If that’s your final say, it’s okay, I brought this here for you, so I’m leaving it whether you want it or not, but please Spencer, I need you back, the whole team needs you” Penelope said cupping her friend’s cheek as she left the hotel room, leaving Reid with a messy web of thoughts that revolved around you.
💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫
Another couple of days went by since Penelope’s visit, Spencer still hadn’t peaked through the envelope, but he was burning with anticipation to do so.
Spencer decided that he would make the best of this time off, and he could visit his mother. He bought a plane ticked for that same day, packed a bag with the envelope Penelope had left behind, and without letting anyone know, he left for Las Vegas, to see the only human being who could understand what he was going through.
“Hi mom” Spencer said entering the common room of the sanatorium Diana was on
“Spencer! How are you my honey” Diana greeted him with a warm hug, which he gladly accepted
“It’s been quite a while, but I’m alright” Spencer said, trying to hide the sadness on his eyes with a forced smile
“You should know better than to lie to your mother” Diana said, reading right through Spencer’s expression
“Everything’s messy mom, I… I broke off the engagement with y/n” Spencer spilled embarrassed of the whole situation, but confident his mom would have something wise to say
“You remember Mr. Knightley’s love confession to Emma?” Diana asked with a furrowed brow after a long pause, to take in her son’s words
“I cannot make speeches, Emma...If I loved you less, I might be able to talk about it more. But you know what I am. You hear nothing but truth from me. I have blamed you, and lectured you, and you have borne it as no other woman in England would have borne it.” Spencer recited by heart; after all, he had read that novel at least ten times as it was your favorite. You didn’t know this, but the reason Spencer kept rereading the novel was to take inspiration and make references only for you and a handful of Jane Austen fans could catch in your wedding vows
“That’s right my brilliant boy, you want to know why those simple words have so much impact?” Diana said, getting ready to lecture her son in both literature, and love “Because when you love someone so much, it doesn’t matter how many layers and walls they build, at the end you know the right way to unfold them. As well, loving someone isn’t just loving when it’s easy, or when it seems right, it also means holding on through tick, thin, fears, complications and messiness. May I add, words are unnecesary when there is so much love in between” Diana said offering her son a kind smile
“I don’t think she can forgive me, mom, I really screwed up this time… I’m sure she thinks I don’t love her, damn, I wouldn’t be surprised if she thinks I never loved her in the first place” Spencer rambles exasperated by the whole situation his insecurities caused
“I’m sure she knows its bullshit, at the end of the day you love her; she’s a smart girl, she’ll figure it out just as I could tell you were trying to lie to my face” Diana said with a chuckle
“I’m sure she’s over me, she’s already dating a hot shot lawyer in San Francisco” Spencer said biting his lower lip
“It takes a lifetime to forget a great love, and lucky for you, that’s what you had; I’m sure you can get her back if you let go of your fears and put your heart on the line” Diana added cupping her son’s cheek
“I wouldn’t bet on it mom, I mean, I’ve put her through hell” Spencer said biting nervously the inside of his cheek
“Then bring her back from hell, just like Orpheus was supposed to bring Eurydice back” Diana said encouraging her son to follow his heart
“Do you believe I’m hard to love?” Spencer asked his mother in a serious tone, in hope she could calm down all his fears, and put to rest the voices in his head telling him it was not worth it
“I believe you are extraordinary, and that loving you is one of the greatest pleasure in life, of course, life comes with its ups and downs, but love is worth every single bump you encounter on the way” Diana said, convincing Spencer that he should fight for the one he loved, even if he was scared to death of doing so
💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫
Spencer took another plane, this time it was bound to San Francisco; and he spent the whole plane ride studying obsessively the envelope Garcia had put together of you and your life in Frisco, as she had previously referred.
The transition made a toll on you, and you seemed to be putting on extra hours in the field just for the sake of it, but Spencer couldn’t shake away the feeling of pride that fluttered all around his chest as he reviewed your accomplishments. You seemed to be living on the bay area, and Spencer couldn’t stop the butterflies from fluttering as the pilot announced they were about to land in the airport. Suddenly, everything seemed real: the losing you, the never-ending love he still harvest on his heart for you, how much he had screwed up, the anxiety building over as the chance of rejection became a possibility. Sure, Spencer had come out of jail a changed man, but right now, he felt as anxious and vulnerable as the lanky Doctor with glasses he used to be when he first entered the BAU. What was he even supposed to do? Spencer Reid wasn’t used to winging things, but for the first time in his life, he boarded a plane without having an actual plan of what to do when he landed, and that was freaking scary.
He decided it would be creepy to just show up at your door, considering he knew your address by the information Penelope had given him when she visited, and he did not want to freak you out. Maybe he could hang nearby where you lived, until he either worked up the courage to talk to you, or he came up with an excuse that wasn’t pathetic to explain why he was so many miles away from home. A hotel! Suddenly Spencer thought he also needed to book a hotel or at least, find a place where he could spend the night. After reading a more than a couple of yelp reviews, the young Doctor found a hotel close enough to your home that he could get there by walking, but with enough distance to be considered respectful, or at least he thought so.
“For fucks sake, Spencer, you really need to come up with a hell of an excuse to be in San Francisco” Spencer muttered to himself as he was getting installed into the hotel room. After a couple of hours of pacing around in the room thinking, crafting, and tossing at the trash at least fifty excuses for him being in California, he decided it was about time to get something to eat.
He settled on a Thai place that was a couple of blocks away from his hotel, and as he was devouring his Tom Yum Goong, and suddenly he felt like he was about to choke on his soup: he heard your laugh. The same laugh that had been haunting his dreams for the past month, that one laugh he could recognize in a room full of noise, the laugh he would trade his lat breath of air, just to be able to hear at least one more time. The room started spinning and Spencer, a known rambler, suddenly was at a loss of words.
“Spencer?” he heard you calling him from the other side of the room, and for a second, Spencer Reid knew exactly why sailors found their death as soon as they heard the mermaid’s lullabies; but while he was thinking about drowning on the dulcet sound of your voice, a naughty piece of shrimp decided to block his airways and he started coughing
“Oh my god! Spencer, are you okay?” you rushed over to his side trying to help him, oblivious that your presence only made it harder for him to breath
“Excuse me, honey, let me handle this” Dylan, your new… situationship (?) said, holding Spencer and practicing the Heimlich Maneuver on the Doctor
If Spencer was struggling to find a good excuse for being in San Francisco, he better come up with something good, because this was deficiently the most embarrassing moment of his life; it was official, he has reached a new low point and he couldn’t wait for the earth to shatter under his feet and just swallow him.
“Hello y/n” Spencer said with a raspy voice as soon as he could breath
“Spencer! Hi, hello” you said, completely confused and shaken up by the situation that you just witnessed
“Are you okay, bro?” Dylan intervened, taking you out of the trance of what was going on in front of you
“Yes, I’m alright, thank you…” Spencer said, with his eyes glued to you
“I’m Dylan, Dylan Brown” Dylan said offering his hand to Spencer
“Spencer doesn’t…” you started speaking when you were interrupted
“I don’t shake hands, with the amount of pathogens you could get from a handshake is actually safer to jut kiss” Spencer cut you off “I’m Doctor Spencer Reid, nice to meet you” he said holding his hand up and waving a little
“Oh… I didn’t know we were in official business” Dylan said with a chuckle “District Attorney Dylan Brown, at your service” he continued flashing his winning smile, giving Spencer a weird feeling, maybe… jealousy? Whatever it was, definitely was the reason Spencer couldn’t spare a laugh for the person who pretty much just saved his life
“What are you… Why’re you here? I mean… Are you here on a case or something?” you asked, noticing how uncomfortable both Dylan and Spencer where with the situation
“I… I’m here to… yes! Actually I’m here consulting on a case” Spencer decided to lie, in order to preserve his last shred of dignity, little did he know…
“Oh really? That’s so weird, considering you’re on medical leave” you said cutting through his bullshit, okay, he didn’t know was it was possible, but somehow Spencer Reid started from the bottom, just to somehow sink even deeper
“How did you? How do you even know about the medical leave?” Spencer said, taking you off from the higher horse you pretended to be
“I didn’t… I mean… Garcia happened to mention something” you stuttered, as you refused to admit you had been checking up with Penelope, just to know how Spencer was doing
“Honey, we should go back to our table” Dylan once more intervened the staring contest that was going down between Spencer and you
“You should join me, actually, let me invite the two of you dinner, after all, I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for Dylan’s amazing technique of the Heimlich Maneuver” Spencer said with a hint of sarcasm, and you knew this night was bound to end in disaster
“We don’t want to impose” you rushed to reply
“Please, I insist, I’m just so shaken up by everything that went down” Spencer decided to play the victim, and you knew you were screwed
“Come on y/n, we can’t leave him all alone after his brush with death” Dylan said, unknowingly sealing the night’s fate, as he was taking a seat
“Thank you so much, to the both of you” Spencer started speaking, with his eyes piercing fierily into your own
“So you guys know each other?” Dylan tried to make sense of the situation
“Oh, yes, we used to work together, back in Virginia” you rapidly intervened to avoid Spencer giving away too much information
The dinner proceeded uneventful, but you couldn’t put your finger quite on it. There was something off with Spencer; the vibes weren’t vibing, and as much as you wanted to focus on Dylan, there was something magnetic pulling you towards Spencer, or maybe it was those damn profiler skills you couldn’t just push to the back or your mind, either way, you knew you had to stop it.
“I’m sorry for cutting this short, but I was just called into the office, apparently there’s an emergency” Dylan said checking his phone after ordering dessert
“Oh, let me come with you, maybe I can help” you said, thanking God, the universe or something for the way out
“Please don’t, you guys should really catch up, but I’ll text you when I get to the office, just so you don’t worry” Dylan said placing a kiss on the top of your head, making Spencer’s stomach flip “It was lovely to meet you Spencer, I hope this isn´t the last we see of each other” he added taking his coat, gifting the doctor a kind smile and walking away from the table
“What the hell are you doing here?” you asked angrily as soon as Dylan went through the door
“I needed to talk to you” Spencer replied with a calm tone that was making your blood boil
“What do you want to talk about Reid? I think enough was said in Virginia” you scoffed
Spencer was a man of many words, unfortunately, at this very moment his brain was a mush and even if he wanted to, he was unable to string two sentences together. Seeing you made quite a number on him: his hands were sweaty, his head was spinning, his back was shivering, his pupils couldn’t focus, his stomach was in knots, and he was almost certain this is what a stroke feels like.
“So? Why are you really here?” you asked once more with an exasperated expression
“I…I…” he was choking again, this time just tripping with his own words
“Whatever you are playing, I want no part on it, I already lost enough with you” you said with a sober tone
“I’m in love with you, I fucked up, but I’m here to promise I’ll do everything in my power, actually I’ll spend the rest of my life making it up to you” Spencer rambled and you couldn’t help but laugh at the situation
“You’re a madman if you think you can just come here out of the blue, say that you love me and everything will be forgiven” you said, this time taking your own coat and leaving Spencer alone in the restaurant
💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫
What the hell was wrong with Spencer Reid
That sentence was all you could think of on your way back home.
Did he really think he could show up in San Francisco, declare his love to you and what? You were supposed to come back to him? Even if your heart lowkey fluttered when your eyes first met his at the restaurant, he was being a complet ass and it was totally unacceptable. As you were getting ready to go to bed, your head was spinning, thinking about Spencer was not an option, but somehow the whole encounter kept poping into your head.
You tossed and turned on your bed, untill the clock on your bedside marked 2:20 am, and you knew there was only one person in the whole world who could help apeace your mind; the very same person that was the reason of your sleepless night.
“Hey, it’s me” you whispered as soon as Spencer picked up the phone
“Hello y/n, having a rough time sleeping?” you could hear Spencer’s husky voice on the other side of the line
“I think I’m ready to talk, and I’m guessing you already know where I live, so please come” you said, hanging up the call without giving him enough time to give you an answer
Fifteen minutes after the short phone call, Spencer was buzzing on the intercom of your apartment bulding; and no more than five minutes after that he was already knocking on your door.
“Please come in” you said, opening the door for him
“Thank you so much for having me over, I really need to talk to you” Spencer rambled as he was closely inspecting your apartment. There was something about the place, that somehow made it all feel like home even if it was on the opposite end of the country, althought deep down, he knew it wasn’t something, it was someone
“Please take a sit, and you better have a hell of an explanation to be here in San Francisco, because I’m not buying the idea that you’re here because you love me” you said, sitting on the couch across from where Spencer was standing
“I made a mistake, when we were in Quantico” Spencer started and you couldn’t help but cut him off with a sour smile, as your eyes starterd to accumulate tears. Sure, you had done everything in your power to just shove down the feelings to the bottom of your heart, and somewhow you were succedeing, but having the man you once loved, speaking about the most painful day of your life wasn’t easy
“If you’ve come here to state the obvious, you can just save your breath” you scoffed, trying to avoid his gaze
“I need you to hear me out, please” Spencer pleaded, and your heart couldn’t help but shatter a little with the amount of hurt that was accumulated both in his eyes, and his voice
“Alright, you got the floor to speak, but you can’t blame me for thinking this is riddiculous Spencer, you broke me, you had me all for yourself, and you decided to just… leave me” you said, feeling the tears roll down your eyes
“I got scared” Spencer said quietly, almost as a whisper
“Why were you afraid? I loved you with everything in me and more! There was no reason for you to doubt me!” you said, feeling both the pain and the anger building up in your throat
“I never doubted you! I was just… I was so afraid of something terrible happening to you… I just thought it’d be best to keep you away from me” Spencer replied, lowering his gaze
“What are you even talking about? You were afraid of something terrible happening to me? That’s why you decided it would be a good idea to just break my heart? Shatter all my dreams? Destroy the life we had planeed together?” you asked and Spencer couldn’t help but run his hands trough his hair in exasperation
“I don’t know how to explain this to you without sounding like a madman, or a religious freak; specially because I’m a man of science, but, please undertand me, statistically, all the people that I’ve loved either end up dead or terribly hurt” Spencer said and a chukle left your mouth before you could even realize
“Are you kidding me Spencer? Are you seriously telling me that you left me because you were somehow scared that you are cursed?” you asked in disbelief
“I’m not saying that I’m cursed! All I’m saying is that… I don’t know what I’m saying but I was trying to protect you! I love you so much, I’d hate myself if something happens to you because of me” Spencer pleaded. Sure, you knew it was wrong to laugh about people’s fears, and that everyone copes individually as they can, but this was just riddiculous to you
“Spencer, I work on the FBI with children and human traficking, I’m aware, actually, I’m certain that my name figures in more than one hit list, but that doesn’t stop me from living my life” you said, and you couldn’t help but feel that maybe if Spencer had the guts to talk about his feelings and fears out loud before, you wouldn’t be in this messy situation, hell, you’d probably even still be engaged
“I… I know that, and I’m so proud of you, and of your work but I… I couldn’t bear the thought of something happening to you, and just not being able to protect you” Spencer added
“Let me get this straigth, you were so afraid of losing me, you decided to just leave me?” you asked with an ironic tone as another laugh scaped your lips
“I mean… if you put it like that, I guess I did” he said, with a small chuckle
“Besides, how dare you think is romantic leaving me safe and stranded? Do you have any idea how much I cried over you? How many days I couldn’t sleep just wondering where did we go wrong? My God, Spencer! We almost had it all, I love you with everything in me and you just… let me go” you added with a bitter tone, as you tried to comprehend the Doctor’s train of thought
“I genuenly believed I was doing what was best for you” Spencer said without meeting your eyes
“Spence, you can’t live with the constant fear that something terrible is just going to happen, I understand that with our line of work sometimes even existing is complicated, but, you have to be brave” you said with a softer tone, trying to get Spencer to understand how out of pocket hhis fears were
“I’m sorry, I’m so so sorry, if I could just somehow take it back, I would, I… I guess my anxiety got the best of me” Spencer said, this time with an embarrased tone
“Yeah, I imagine, but, as you know, that’s just not possible you” you added with a small smile, almost a pitty smile, because you counldn’t believe how unserious Spencer’s reason to call off the engagement was
“If you let me, I’ll make it up to you for the rest of my life, I don’t care how much time I have to wait, I don’t even care if I have to move to San Francisco just to be with you! I’ll do anything, I’ll even marry you right here, right now, but please, give me another chance. Not a day goes by that I don’t love you! Hell, I even think I love you more today than I loved you yesterday, altough it’s not gonna be as much as I’ll love you tomorrow of the day after that” Spencer rambled, and you could feel your heart ache, for a whole month all you wanted, all you wished for was Spencer saying those words to you, but hearing them, now you were scared out of your mind
“I… I don’t think I can do this again, Spence” you said with a low voice
“Please y/n, I’ll do anything, I know deep down you still love me, maybe not as much as I love you, but it’s okay because I have so much love, I’ll just love you for the two of us” Spencer said with his eyes filling with tears
“I’m scared Spencer, how do I know you won’t jump ship again as easily as you did it last time?” you asked almost with a whispered. You figured out that if you were going to break his heart, at least you’d be straighfordward and honest
“I understand that you don’t trust me, or that’s scary, but you just told me that I can’t let my fears control my life… please, take a leap of faith with me” Spencer said stepping closer to the couch were you were sitting
“I don’t… I don’t know how, I already gave you my all once” you said, curling up on your couch like a wounded puppy
“Then let me prove to you that I mean it when I say I’ll give you my all, let me show you how serious I’m about spending the rest of my life with you” Spencer pleaded, taking your hand into his “I love you so much, I vow I won’t let anything come between us again, I don’t care if I have to fight a curse, a thousand unsubs, hitmen or whatever life throws at our way, I promise I’ll always stand by you… If you need to cry, I’ll be your shoulder, if you need protection, I’ll be your shelter, if you need to lean on, I’ll be your rock, but please, let me be everything and anyrthing you need” he added with teary eyes
“You get one chance, and we have a shit ton of things to figure out, but I swear if you screw up one more time, I’ll personally make sure to destroy you” you said with a teassing smile, and Spencer coulnd’t help but chuckle and plant a swee kiss on your lips
“I promise I’ll spend the rest of my life making sure I don’t screw up again” he said, and you gave hijm another kiss
You knew it would be messy, and even a little embarrasing to anounce, but your heart somehow intertwined perfectly with Spencer’s. You knew you loved him with everything in you and somehow, you were convinced by his words aboout how much he loved you. At the end of the day, love is a bet, and you knew Spencer Reid was banned from every casino in Vegas because he was an expert on statistics, so maybe, with his head and your gut, the two of you’d find a way for your love to work out.

glasses stay on | s.r x fem!reader
Tumblr media
ꨄ requested: anonymous
ꨄ genre: smut
ꨄ summary: seeing spencer in his glasses makes you absolutely feral.
Tumblr media
spencer gasped into your mouth as you backed him into your bedroom door, you were kissing him like your life depended on it and unbuckling his pants when you hadn't even made it into the room yet.
he manages to get the bedroom door opened and stumble back into the room, all with your hand shoved down his pants while you rubbed his hardened cock. spencer's skin is flushed when he pulls back, both from the lack of oxygen and the arousal spreading through his body like a fire.
he's both extremely turned on and extremely confused, you'd pounced on him the second he walked through the front door and he couldn't for the life of him figure out what had gotten you so worked up.
"why- what's gotten into you?" his eyes were wide and his lips were parted as he tried to catch his breath, his chest rising and falling heavily. you pulled his shirt off and tossed it somewhere in the room.
you walked him back into the bed and gently shoved him back, you climbed on top of him and started to rock your hips. you pressed your lips to his jaw and moved down to his neck, you started to make small marks on his flushed skin.
spencer grasped at your hips as a soft moan fell from his lips. you ran your hands over his chest causing him to jolt from the coldness of your hands on his hot skin.
when you sat up, spencer brought his hand up and started to take his glasses-that had fogged up so much he couldn't see- off and set them aside. "put them back on."
"baby, they're fogged up and they-mmph" his lips parted with a whimper as you started back rocking your hips, you ran your hands over his chest and gently pinched his nipples. "they might break."
"want you to wear them while you fuck me, please, spence?" you pouted, spencer looked up at your desperate eyes and couldn't help but put his glasses back on. you slid off of his lap and pushed down your shorts and panties and pulled your shirt off, spencer started to push his pants and boxers down his legs.
he bit his lip when you climbed back onto his lap, his cock twitched at the feeling of your wet cunt dragging over it. spencer gripped at your hips and watched you take ahold of his cock and line it up with his entrance, his head fell back when you eased down on his cock and the feeling of your tight cunt enveloped him.
you kept your eyes on him the entire time you rode his cock, watching the way his face twisted up in pleasure and the way his lips parted as sounds of pleasure escaped him. you leaned down to kiss him and started to lift your hips faster. eventually, neither of you could kiss each other so you ended up just breathing and moaning against each other's lips, causing spencers glasses to fog up even more.
spencers hips stuttered up to meet your thrusts, he wrapped his arm around your waist and pulled your body flush to his. you tucked your head in his neck and gently bit down on his shoulder, you were probably the most turned on you'd been in a while. spencer moved his hands to grab at your ass as he cock twitched, he held onto you tighter as he filled your cunt with his cum.
"fuck-" he gasped, his hips slowed down as he came down from his orgasm. you started to lift your hips again, chasing your release much like spencer had done. your walls fluttered around his cock as you got closer and closer to coming, you shifted your hips and the new angle caused the head of spencer cock to brush against your spot.
your orgasm knocked the breath out of your lungs, you whined and whimpered against spencer's skin as you came. spencer's grip on you loosened and you slumped down further into.
"i need you to wear those glasses more often." you mumble into his neck, spencer breathed out a small chuckle and gave your thigh a light squeeze.
"will do."

spencer reid x morgan!reader
note: its spencer x yn crumbs, shes like barely in it i just want to put something out because ive been feeling burnt out and only these small blurbs are helping me so expect more
request more criminal minds moments that i can insert these two in! im already planning to do when the team goes to Derek's hometown
word count: 587
Tumblr media
“Easy there, touch guy. Have some coffee with your sugar.” Derek teased as he walked into the kitchen area, Spencer was standing not facing him pouring an extensive amount of sugar into his coffee.
“I need something to wake me up.” The younger boy mumbled.
“Late night?” “Very.”
Derek, taking that comment the wrong way, said, “My man.” He then suddenly remembered his little sister calling him last night saying she was going over to the young Dr. Reid’s home. “Hold up- weren’t you with my sister last night?”
“Wasn’t that kind of late night.” This response put Morgan at ease to continue his teasing remarks, “Okay, so tell me, what does keep young Dr. Reid awake at night?”
The older man started walking, patting Spencer on the shoulder just as the young man was taking a sip of his sugar-coffee concoction, “Wait, let me guess. Memorising some obscure textbook?” Spencer finaling turned to face the man, an unamused look present on his face as Derek continued, “No, no, no. Working on cold fusion. No, my baby sister was there.. I got it, I got it. Watching Star Trek and laughing at the physics mistakes.”
Spencer shook his head slightly, “Actually there aren’t that many scientific errors in Star Trek. Especially considering how long ago it was made. There are certain improbabilities, but not that many outright errors.” Derek, in a state of disbelief and not knowing what to say, responded with, “Right.” Before leaving Spencer alone in the kitchenette and making his way to his desk. Only Y/n was there at her own desk, doing her paperwork. She looked up to see the two walking somewhat towards her.
“I don’t know what you see in him.” Derek mumbles sitting down in his chair, but before he could Elle comes walking through the bullpen saying, “Hey, Hotch wants everyone at the round table.”
Y/n immediately made her way to follow Elle, saying to Derek, “How can you not?” as she walked away and before Derek could leave too, Spencer asked him about what was really keeping him up. The nightmares. Derek always seemed to be that person Spencer could lean on, they were family at this point. You have to be to do a job like theirs.
-bonus-
The team got to the crime scene site, Spencer was poking around when he noticed wax on the scene.
"Candle wax?" JJ asked, confused, Spencer only replied with, “Candles are used in rituals.”
“Also used on birthday cakes.” Gideon was adamant that this was not a ritual killing, Y/n did agree but wasn’t turning down the idea all together.
But what Gideon said seemed to hit a knowledge nerve on Spencer as he went into one of his usual info-dumping sessions, “Actually, they were originally used to protect the birthday celebrant from demons for the coming year.” Spencer let out a smug-sounding chuckle that made Y/n need to hide her smile behind her hand, “As a matter of fact, down to the fourth century, Christianity rejected the birthday celebration as a pagan ritual.” He ended with his usual smile, the one that always made Y/n want to give him a hug.
Though, everyone else looked at him like he was insane for just knowing that off the top of his head. The sheriff that was on the scene with them asked, “What kind of doctor are you?” And that was when Y/n had to let her laugh go, seeing the look on Spencer’s face.

the fifth kiss- s.reid
-----------------------------------
Tumblr media
-----------------------------------
a/n: season one, episode 18 'Somebody's Watching'
summary: lila archer gets in the way of you and spencer.
pairing: spencer reid x fem bau! reader
warnings: general cm topics, the team don't know about you and spencer, injuries, reader gets injured, spencer shoots someone. (i think that's it, tell me if i missed anything :))
-----------------------------------
You sat in your hotel room, confused at the events of the day. Maybe it was the sweltering LA heat, or maybe it was the awful way Lila and Spencer were making goo-goo eyes at each other.
You had been at the gallery with him and his sub-par flirting. At least Lila was happy. When Spencer  had to leave he was practically begging you to convince Gideon to leave him with Lila.
-----------------------------------
“Sprence, we have to go,” You grabbed his shoulder and went up on tip-toes to whisper in his ear. You started walking out of the gallery with Gideon and noticed Spencer didn’t follow.
“Spencer!” Gideon called to him.
Spencer walked up to you. “Do you need me? Or c-can I stick around here for a while?” He smiled shyly.
“Gideon wants you so I’d just ask him,’” you shrugged.
“But… Can you just ask him?” Spencer pushed.
“Spencer!” Gideon called. “Y/n!”
-----------------------------------
When Detective Kim asked you to look at the crime scene, and when the rest of the team was called, everyone knew that you’d be most helpful in this case. You’d been in the violent crimes division which meant you’d be able to accurately tell them if it was a gang, what kind of killer it was, and why they were doing it. On top of that you were definitely the most qualified to talk to Lila Archer when she came back with the note from her stalker/ the unsub because of your year as a liaison on a team in London.
“Hi, I’m Agent Y/l/n, this is Agent Morgan, Agent Greenaway, Agent Jareau, Agent Hotchner, and of course, you know Agent Gideon and Doctor Reid,” you introduced the team as she came into the room. “Agent Morgan and I will ask you some questions, if that’s ok?”
She nodded her head but her eyes stayed glued to where Spencer had his arm around you. You two were best friends, in the team's eyes. In reality, you two had been dating for the past 4 weeks. You hadn’t told anyone since it was only new but you really liked him. But, you two had sex and he hasn’t asked you out again. Granted, you’ve both been busy but… doubt was starting to creep in.
-----------------------------------
“Did you know Natalie Ryan?” You asked.
“We spoke when we were in public, but we were never friends,” she shrugged as she picked at her nails, clearly uninterested in what you had to say.
“What about Wally Mellman?” Morgan added.
“What about him?” she asked.
“He was killed a few months ago, did you know him?” You asked.
Lila shook her head. “I read for a part but they went a different way.”
“What way?” Elle asked as she entered the room.
“They cast another actress… it was Natalie,” she admitted.
“Nice way to get rid of competition,” Morgan said, eyeing her agent beside her.
“Hey it wasn’t me! I brought her into this damn police station,” he defended.
“Alright, do you ever feel like you’re being watched?” You asked.
“All the time,” she scoffed. “It kind of comes with the territory.”
“Yes, but an unusual amount,” you continued. “Something out of the ordinary that happens regularly-”
“Repetitive phone calls with hang-ups, gifts left anonymously,” Morgan started listing.
Lila wasn’t listening and she definitely wasn’t cooperating.
“Ms. Archer?” you asked. Her eyes snapped back to yours.
“Pardon?”
“Is there something more important you could be doing right now?” You snarked.
“Why isn’t Dr. Reid in here?” She asked.
“He’s busy,” Elle answered. “I can assure you, you are with the people you need to be with right now.”
“Yes, but why do I need to be with all of you?” She asked and your blood boiled.
“Because we’re the people on the team that have worked on stalking cases before, Dr. Reid, hasn’t,” Morgan gritted out, anger spilling from him too.
“Now back to the questions, does something out of the ordinary happen on a regular basis?”m You asked.
“I receive flowers,” she admitted. “On the 7th of each month they just appear in my trailer. Never a note, just a plain glass bowl. Red anemones, my favourite.”
“And you’ve never questioned who they’re from?” Elle asked.
“Celebrities get anonymous gifts all the time, she has fans y’know?”
“Does the number 7 mean anything to you? Did you meet anyone on the 7th, or in the 7th month of the year?”
“No,” she said, definitively. “I would remember.”
“Alright, who would you have told about red anemones being your favourite flower?” you asked.
“I don’t know, I guess my friends and family?” she sighed. “Can we be done now?”
“Lila, I need a list of people who would know that those flowers are your favourite, like… my boyfriend knows that my favourite flowers are blue lilies-” Lila’s eyes snapped to yours and immediately sized you up.
“Who’s your boyfriend?” She asked. “Are you dating Spencer?”
“No, I am not dating Dr. Reid,” you lied.
“Why are you two so close?” She questioned.
“Am I interviewing you or are you interviewing me?” You snapped back. “Ms. Archer, two people are dead because of you, that’s the reality of the situation. Dr. Reid is working your case, just like the rest of us. So, I suggest you start cooperating before someone else gets hurt.”
Lila’s eyes clouded and glossed over, she left the room, sniffling and on the verge of tears. You didn’t care. She was withholding information for no reason other than the fact that she liked Spencer.
“What happened?” Spencer demanded when he walked in. “Lila’s crying.”
You rolled your eyes. “Fucking brat.”
Elle and Derek nodded their heads in agreement while Spencer pulled a face of confusion.
“Spencer, she’s just like every other Hollywood starlet, selfish, self-centred, and really annoying,” Elle chuckled and both Derek and you laughed with her.
“She's a person who’s going through a very hard time right now,” he stated then turned his gaze on you. “and you spoke to her in an unprofessional way.”
You scoffed. “Right…”
“I mean it, she told me what you said.”
“You mean… the truth? Two people are dead because of her,” you sighed. “Listen Spencer, I don’t want to fight you over your clear crush on her,” something you hadn’t wanted to admit earlier. “So go for it, sleep with her, kiss her, I don't really care.”
Spencer’s eyes widened. He hadn’t asked you to be his girlfriend yet. You’d been on 4 dates. You two weren’t ‘dating’.
“Y/n-” Spencer tried but you got up.
“I’m going to grab some coffee,” you announced, then left with Spencer behind you.
“What do you mean you don’t care?” Spencer asked in a small voice as he stood behind you.
“Spencer, we both know you have a crush on Lila, if you want to go for it, go for it,” you sighed.
“But I… what about us?”
“We both know you got what you wanted,” you shrugged. “I just never thought you’d be like that.”
“W-what am I like?,” he stuttered.
You ignored his stupid question.“And Spencer, I don’t really take kindly to people questioning my ability to do my job, alright?”
Spencer just nodded, and walked away.
-----------------------------------
You cared. You cared a lot.
That’s why you were sitting in your hotel room alone and crying, confused about the day.
There was a knock at the door. You opened it and found Gideon.
“Evening?” You questioned as you let him in, brushing the tears off your cheeks.
“You and Spencer need to talk,” he stated.
“About what?”
“Your relationship, for one,” he sighed. “You two are both in love with each other, we can all see it, and now you’ve sent him off to go sleep with a movie star because he can’t stop stuttering around her?”
You looked away in embarrassment. “The goo-goo eyes didn’t help,” you shrugged, speaking like a dejected child.
“What was your first date?”
“We don-t- we aren’t-”
“Yes you did. Now tell me, what was your first date?”
“We went to the cinema near his apartment, we saw this Italian film, ‘La Chimera’, then we got lunch,” you rattled off.
“What was his body language throughout?”
“Gideon-” you sighed.
“Tell me,” he said sternly.
“He was nervous, he kept messing with his hands, he was stuttering, and when I kissed him he tensed up for a few seconds,” you rolled your eyes at Gideon’s antics.
“Exactly, and who is the only person on this team that Spencer genuinely seeks out to touch?” He asked.
“Me.”
“Exactly.”
“But still, he also likes her and I don’t know if you noticed but I’m not her!”
“But you’re you, and Spencer’s in love with you.”
You sighed. “I sent him off.”
“What?” He asked, horrified.
“I told him we were ‘casual’ and that I didn’t care if he dated someone else.”
“Why would you do that?” He hissed.
“Because I thought it was the right thing to do!”
“You’re supposed to be intelligent!” He groaned.
“I know!” You shouted back.
Gideon sighed and walked closer, pulling you into a hug. “You two will be ok.”
-----------------------------------
You sat beside Lila as she got into makeup. “I’m not stopping my life,” she stated.
“Yeah, you mentioned that,” you sighed.
Spencer walked up beside you two with a coke in his hand.
Lila turned her nose up at the coffee that she’d been drinking for the past few minutes and you almost laughed when she took his coke, expecting him to grab it right back. Your mouth dropped open when hee let her drink from it, then took a drink right after. She was called to the scene and you rolled your eyes.
“You don’t mind sharing with me, do you?” Derek teased.
“Shut up.”
“Go get ‘em loverboy.”
When Spencer met your eyes you swore you saw regret, or some kind of remorse in them. You ignored it.
-----------------------------------
“We were too late,” Gideon’s voice rang over your phone.
“Shit, she’s going to be devastated.”
“Don’t tell her yet,” he asked.
“Course.”
You hung up and gathered Lila and Spencer and some of her things.
-----------------------------------
You got picked up by Derek and Detective Kim, and you sent Spencer and Lila on their way.
“How are the two lovebirds?” Derek asked, exasperation and irritation clear in his voice.
“Oh, they’re all great, never a dull moment where she isn’t trying to get into his pants,” you sighed as you three walked out of the paparazzo's apartment.
“Where are we headed next?” you asked.
“Lila’s. We need to bring more people to her, maybe even get her to a safehouse,” Kim sighed. A motorcycle started and before you knew it, you were against the car and groaning in pain.
“Y/n! Are you alright?” Derek shouted.
“Yeah, it just grazed,” You nodded, looking at the flesh wound the bullet had left behind. “Get to Kim,” you told him. You reached for your gun and shot after the motorcyclist but they got away.
-----------------------------------
After being bandaged up, you and Derek sped to Lila’s house to find Spencer and Lila soaked.
-----------------------------------
“I fell into the pool,” Spencer admitted sheepishly.
“Sure, I’m sure there’s a bunch of photos of it,” you nodded sarcastically. You walked away, an uncertain heartbreak settling deep in your gut as you went through the photos, ripping them out, for his sake.
-----------------------------------
Spencer felt awful. He had been rude to you, he’d gone against you, he’d kissed someone else.
The entire time, all he could think about were the four times he’d kissed you.
-----------------------------------
One.
You two were outside the lunch place he loved and you’d both spent the entire meal talking about the film. It was comfortable, and probably too domestic to be a first date but Spencer didn’t mind. He loved the way you and him were comfortable around each other.
“So I’ll see you at work on Monday?” You smiled, that perfect smile that drove Spencer crazy.
“Yes, you will see me at work on Monday,” he smiled, breathing out slowly. You chuckled, then wrapped your arms around his neck and pulled him down to kiss you. Your lips on his genuinely re-wired his entire being. He felt butterflies and heat run through him, until he kissed back. Then he knew that this was an addiction. That he wanted to kiss you every moment of every hour of every day for the rest of his life.
You had to guide his hands to your hips and it was a bit of a laughing/ kissing thing, but it was amazing all the same.
-----------------------------------
Two.
Spencer stood in your kitchen, grabbing his coat from the chair when you kissed him. This time he was prepared. His hands immediately went to your waist, large palms spanning over the navy colour of the sundress you were wearing. God you looked beautiful.
Again, your lips on his was something he’d never get enough of. How perfect you felt. How beautiful you were. He was sure he was in love.
-----------------------------------
Three.
You dragged him kicking and screaming to a farmer’s market, but in the end he’d enjoyed it. He’d enjoyed it because you’d actually kissed him twice. Once when he remembered something minute about you (How could he ever forget?) and another time when you’d simply wanted to. You and that damn sundress.
-----------------------------------
Four.
You were at his apartment and you were on his lap. He had been painfully hard as you continued kissing him and slowly grinding down on him.
“Do you want to…?” you asked, a hazy lust-filled smirk on your face.
Spencer just nodded.
“Do you have a condom?” You asked and chuckled when he sheepishly shook his head. “It’s fine, I’m on birth-control,” you smiled and Spencer just followed your lead.
After what felt like hours of you just sinking down on his ridiculously large cock, you finally started moving.
“Oh fuck,” you mumbled. “You’re so big,” you groaned into his ear. Spencer whimpered as you slowly moved up and down his length.
As much as he didn’t want to admit it, he had thought about fucking you, a lot. Sometimes you were under him, sometimes you were over him, it didn’t matter. He wanted to fuck you.
And that he did.
After you fucked him on the couch, he turned it around and slammed into you with such vigour his couch moved. His fingers explored your core and once he ended up tasting you, he knew he couldn’t go back. He spent half an hour between your legs, licking and fingering you, moaning with you as if he was getting pleasure from it as well, which he was.
Once the both of you were cleaned up you fell asleep in his bed with his arms firmly around you. The next morning you both smiled at each other, not exactly shy but still hesitant to talk about what had happened. Spencer knew that was the right moment to ask you, but he couldn’t. He wanted you, all of you. He wanted you to be his girlfriend, then eventually his fiancee, and eventually his wife.
He was head over heels in love.
And when you kissed him sweetly, nothing like the sex-fuelled kisses from the night before, he thought he’d died and gone to heaven.
-----------------------------------
“W-what happened?” Spencer asked, signalling to the bandage on your arm.
“A bullet grazed me,” you shrugged.
“A-are you okay?” he asked.
“Fine,” you gritted out. You didn’t look at him, in fear of catching a glimpse of those damn puppy-dog eyes.
-----------------------------------
As Spencer apologised to Lila, you searched the house.
The house was big, too big for one person to live here but you digressed. As you searched you gave yourself a moment to think over the events of the past 48 hours.
“Who’re you?” A blonde woman asked from her seat at the vanity.
“Who’re you?” you asked, pulling your gun. “Spencer!”
You could hear Spencer and Lila running to you.
For the second time that night, you were on the floor bleeding. Great. The police officers out front started running into the house as Spencer reached you. She’d hit you in your chest.
“Shit,” Spencer cursed. He pulled out his phone and called an ambulance. The officers took down Maggie and you were rushed to hospital.
-----------------------------------
Hours and hours of surgery later, you were awake with Spencer’s hand in yours.
“Hi,” he smiled softly.
“Hi.”
“I’m so sorry,” he sighed. “I was so stupid, I shouldn’t have let you walk away like that. I’m so sorry-”
“It’s alright,” you smiled. “I’m glad things worked out between you and Lila.”
Spencer’s face dropped. “I don’t want Lila. I want you. I’m in love with you. I only want you.”
Your heart sped up, you could hear it on the monitor. Both you and Spencer laughed.
“Good. I’m in love with you too," you smiled once your laughter had subsided.
He leaned down and kissed you softly.
The fifth kiss.
