New Commercial Featuring Vaulter Club Athlete
New Commercial Featuring Vaulter Club Athlete
What a fun night it was and it shows the importance of having your own gear, facility and athletes around to support such an effort. We went from a couple emails being sent out to full production in a matter of hours. Of course the director was looking for a certain athlete with a certain style to fulfill this commercial. This was no ordinary client, this was a very well know and massive…

Trail Data
Mileage: 9.9 miles Elevation Gain: 2,100 feet Location: Angeles National Forest Type: Out-and-back Difficulty: Moderate
What to Expect in this Guide
Aside from the road being closed to the trailhead we planned on doing, we ended up doing a tougher hike and a little bit longer.
As those of you know who usually read my posts, I have areas to which you can get a lot of more information about the hike we did.  All in all, I put this area on here so that you can forward over to whichever area you would like to know more about.
Background – If you’re interested a little more about the area and some facts about the hike.
Map & Directions – See our hike on the map and directions on how to get to the trailhead below.
Weather – Definitely something you need to check before you go out on the trail.
Adventure Pass – Just a quick rundown of what pass you will need before you head out on the trail. *Pass is required to hike in this area.
Trail Camp & Water – The area has a trail camp with a water source nearby.
Maps, Books and Gear Recommendations – A great source for what maps or books to have before going out.
Hike Stats – I like to know points of interest on the trail, here are some for you to follow along when you go for the hike.
My Ramblings – This is my favorite part mostly because the pictures.  Check this section out of my recollection of the hike and some photos.
Background
Mt. Hawkins sits in the Angeles National Forest (covering around 700,000 acres just outside of Los Angeles).  Much of the trail from Islip Saddle up to Mt. Hawkins (8,850 ft.) is via the PCT (Pacific Crest Trail).  Islip Saddle has a parking lot across the street from the trailhead.
Some nearby notable peaks that can be done in conjunction are Mount Islip, South Mount Hawkins, Middle Hawkins and Throop Peak.  Have any of you done this hike with multiple peaks in the area?  Let me know how in the comments below.
Map & Directions
To get to the trailhead:
Trailhead is at Islip Saddle, mile marker 64.1 on the Angeles Crest Highway.  The drive is about an hour/an hour and a half away from the Los Angeles area.  From downtown LA, take 110 North and merge onto I-5 North.  About 7 miles later, take CA-2 N (Angeles Crest Highway) toward Glendale.  Merge onto CA-2 E/I-210 E.  In .4 miles take CA-2 toward La Canada Flintridge.  Turn left onto Angeles Crest Hwy and drive 39.6 miles until you see a parking lot on the left at Islip Saddle.  The trailhead is directly across the street.
Weather
Mt. Hawkins ~8,041 ft –> Weather.gov
Throop Peak ~ 9,138 ft –> mountain-forecast.com
Adventure Pass
There are no permits required to hike this trail.
To park your vehicle in this area, you will however need an Adventure Pass.  To obtain an Adventure pass find the closest Forest Service location or go to any major sporting goods store.  The fees are $5 per day or $30 annual.  If you’d like to know more about the pass, read on the Forest Service Recreation Passes & Permits Website.
The Shell Station right off I-210 and CA-2 exit sells the Adventure Pass.
Trail Camp & Water
Little Jimmy Trail Camp/Little Jimmy Springs
Along this trail the only established trail camp is Little Jimmy Trail Camp.  If you feel like an extra night in the area, Little Jimmy sits just 2 miles off Angeles Crest Highway.  There are 16 established first-come, first-serve sites with fire rings.  The campground includes vault toilets, backcountry ovens and bear boxes.  The place is very popular with Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, the two times I hiked in this area in the fall we passed by a few groups of scouts.
Angeles National Forest: Little Jimmy Trail Camp Information
Little Jimmy Springs is about a .2 miles walk away from the campground.  The water usually runs year round and is super cold.  This is a great spot to take a break quickly and fill up with water if you are running low on a longer hike.  Always make sure you take enough water either way.  We took about 3 liters of water each for 9 mile hike.
Maps, Books and Gear Recommendations
Topographic Map of Area: Trail Map Angeles High Country Map Book of Hikes in the Area: Trails of the Angeles: 100 Hikes in the San Gabriels
Gear Recommendations:
Obviously this isn’t everything I take on our hikes, check out What’s in My Backpack? for a compilation of some of the gear I have now.  Some of the items I would recommend for this hike, especially colder weather:
Hiking Poles: BLACK DIAMOND Alpine Carbon Cork Trekking Poles
Headband: Adidas Woman’s Tech Headband
Fleece Gloves: Columbia Sportswear Women’s Thermarator Glove
Down Jacket: Patagonia Down Sweater
Wind Breaker: REI Co-op Rainier Rain Jacket
Some food we took on the hike:
Protein: Starkist Salmon Creations Lemon & Dill and Tuna Creations Thai Chili Style
Mayonnaise for our tuna and salmon packets: Hellmann’s Food Real-Vraie Mayonnaise – We bought a pack of 75 so that every time we go we can just pick a couple out from our hiking food bin
Soup: Lipton Soup Secrets – Chicken Noodle Soup Mix with Diced White Chicken Meat
Bars: CLIF Bar Chocolate Chip and Crunchy Peanut Butter
Bananas mmmmm
*FYI the salmon and tuna packets, Lipton soup, CLIF bars are all available at local supermarkets.  I usually just buy on amazon in bulk since we go a lot and have hiking food bin.  What do you keep in your hiking food bin?

My Ramblings
I used to just write this portion of the blog, but decided since I do so much research why not create some guides of the information that I gather before I go out for these hikes.  Should I put my ramblings and photos first or should I keep them here at the end?  You guys let me know.
Alright, let’s move on and talk about this hike.  My sister and I haven’t been on a hike alone in a while; we’ve been with groups, but alone I think our last hike together was Peanut Lake, back in 2016.  Is that right?  I think so.  Either way I was blessed to have a hike together with my sister alone in our backyard mountains up in the San Gabriel’s.
We awoke early and left the house by 6:00am.  We were not much more than 10 minutes into the drive when I had to turn around to pick up the water bladder (Osprey Hydraulics Reservoir – 3 L).  If we were already to far into the drive we would have just picked up 3 L of water at the store nearby.  This wasn’t the only thing we forgot on the hike, just wait for it.
Arriving to the Trailhead
After exiting I-210 road to Angeles Crest highway, I remember I left my annual Adventure Pass in my car back at home.  So another thing I forgot, we stopped at the Shell station to pick a day pass up ($5.00).  As we were driving to go do Mt. Baden-Powell from Dawson Saddle, we arrived at a Road that was closed at Islip Saddle.  Not sure how we could have avoided not knowing, but they do post road closures on the county or forest websites.  Plan B, open my Angeles High Country Trail Map and find a new hike.
There are a few options at Islip Saddle, so we geared up and decided to go hike Mt. Hawkins.  I remember doing it a long time ago by myself, but thought it would be nice to check out the trail again with my sister and it was a little harder hike than we had planned, huge plus there we wanted a good workout.  We started up the trail around 9:00am which would give us ample time to take our time up the mountain and hang out at the top.
The first mile or two was more vertical than the rest of the trail.  We passed a lot of Boys & Girls Scout groups on our way up, probably stayed at Little Jimmy Trail Camp as it’s popular for the Scout groups to camp there on weekends.  Little Jimmy Camp is only about 2 miles up the trail and the trail flattens out on this portion of the hike.  We continued up towards Windy Gap making good time; Windy Gap sits at about 7,588 feet and offers 360 degree views of the surround mountains and valleys.  Here there are a few options, you could turn back, head up to Mt. Islip, head towards Crystal Lake Campground or head on the Mt. Hawkins Ridge Trail to summit Mt. Hawkins or even further to Throop, Burnham and Baden-Powell.
Summiting Mt. Hawkins
Our choice was to hike up to Mt. Hawkins which would make for a 2,050 foot climb total; I liked the sound of that.  11:30am we reached the summit of Mt. Hawkins.  We almost missed the turnoff; stay alert there is no sign for the turnoff to Mt. Hawkins.  I’m glad I was taking note of the mileage on the Garmin.  Did you know Mt. Hawkins is in the 11th highest peak in the San Gabriel’s?  We didn’t make the top 10 list, but that’s ok it’s a peak above 8,000 feet very good training hike for the bigger mountains.  I believe I just made a challenge for myself to knock off the top 10 in the San Gabriel’s.  What those are I’ll probably post later as I already have the 10,000 Feet Peaks in Southern California Challenge ahead of me.
Had to put on some warmer clothes as we were going to hang out on Mt. Hawkins for a little.  We wanted to make some soup and when I opened my bag I realized that I did not pack a fuel canister into my jetboil.  I usually keep one in there but since our last trip to Havasupai Falls we flew, I took it out and never put a new one in when I got back home.  Are you surprised yet?  That’s 3 things and counting so far that were forgotten on this hike.  Instead of a warm Lipton Soup Secrets we ended up having a couple mozzarella sticks and the Starkist Creations Lemon Dill and Thai Chili Style.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
Down we went around 12:30pm so that we could hit the Newcomb’s Ranch for a snack before heading back home.  We didn’t pass too many people on the way down except a couple who was doing one night up at Baden-Powell.  About 1 mile from the trailhead my knee began to hurt, thanks to my sister who brought a brace I made it down in one piece.  It looks like I forgot one other thing, that makes for 4 things we forgot on this hike.  I should be wearing a brace every time I hike anyway so that will be added to my hiking checklist as a permanent item.
Reaching the Cars
It was about 2:30pm when we reached the cars and we changed quickly and headed down the mountain to go grab a quick bite to eat.  Newcomb’s Ranch closes pretty early, so this is the first time I could actually sit inside and have a nice relaxing refreshing drink and a snack.  Usually we get here as they are closing or already closed.  My sister and I love these kinds of places; little gems hidden up in the mountains.  Lots of motorcyclists like to end up here on their rides on the Angeles Crest Highway; we even saw some bicyclists who were brave enough to do that long ride in.
Well, I hope you enjoyed the write-up.  What is the most common thing that you think most hikers (newbies or avid) forget on hikes?  Let me know in the comments below.  If you’ve done this hike before go ahead and comment below and let me know your experiences; I hope we can share more on here together.
Happy Adventures,
Annette – Beyond Limits on Foot

Ray Bartlett (October 27, 1919 - June 22, 2008) was born in Los Angeles to Vincent and Fay Bartlett. His father sold real estate, and his mother was a nurse. A teammate and a close friend of Jackie Robinson at both Pasadena Junior College and UCLA, Ray Bartlett distinguished himself as a talented and versatile athlete in his own right. He was an All-American and All-Southern California end on the legendary 11-0 PJC football team of 1938. Bartlett played on conference champion teams in football, basketball (guard) and baseball (outfielder). In 1939, he won the conference pole vault title for the Bulldogs track and field team. Bartlett went on to an extraordinary career in public service. After serving his country in the military in World War II and the Korean War, he worked for the Pasadena Police Department for 20 years, he was the second African American to join the force in 1947. He was a deputy to Los Angeles County's Supervisor. Bartlett was a founding member of the PCC Foundation and a long-time member of the board of directors for the Pasadena YMCA. Bartlett represented the Robinson family as the Grand Marshal at the 1999 Tournament of Roses Parade. He was inducted into the CCCAA State Hall of Fame in 1986. In 1938, Bartlett and Robinson led the football team at what is now Pasadena City College to a state championship. At UCLA, they were among only four black players on the football team in 1939 during an era when few universities included blacks on their gridiron rosters. At both schools, they also were on the basketball, track and field, and baseball teams. At UCLA, Bartlett was initiated in to Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. He became one of the 32 Fraternity’s Charter Members. #365black #alphaphialpha #ucla (at Norfolk, Virginia) https://www.instagram.com/p/BxhjMRKnKmRScg0eD_5tO9noMYizRAeXiYxo900/?igshid=1ggv9qd4nzeei

Stuntwoman Jessie Graff on Setting Goals and Training Smarter, Not Harder
Tumblr media
Per Bernal
There’s nothing Jessie Graff likes to do more than to defy gravity. Whether she’s scaling 15-foot-high walls, jumping nearly five feet in the air, or hanging from ledges the width of a ruler, the 34-year-old American Ninja Warrior queen and professional stuntwoman appears to have superhuman strength and power. But while her natural tenacity and hyperfocus on being her best help, Graff works hard to make things look so easy.
As one of the top obstacle competitors on the planet—male or female—Graff is constantly looking for new ways to train. The entryway of her Southern California home is a 360-degree gym, complete with climbing walls, padded floors, and hanging bars. She’s even got a backyard trampoline and treadmill pool. “My life’s mission has been to master every style of movement, in every direction,” Graff says. “I pretty much work to support my training habits.”
No small wonder that Graff found a career as a stuntwoman, for which supernatural abilities just come with the territory, whether that’s plunging from rooftops or crashing a motorcycle—then getting up to do it all over again. “I’m so lucky to have found a job that allows me to constantly learn new skills,” she says.
[RELATED1]
But you don’t have to leap from tall buildings or pull yourself up ledges to feel all-powerful. What’s key is the ability to set small goals for yourself—then burst past them, she says. Steal some tips from Graff’s own training style to build up your confidence and tackle whatever challenges are in front of you.
FIND SOME FOCUS
Mixing up your training is great, but it can also help to concentrate on a couple of key areas for relatively short periods of time. “I tend to get into phases where I’m really excited about one thing and try to master it,” Graff says. For example, when she saw a stuntman on one of her films performing explosive, dynamic handstand jumps, she made it her goal to get the technique down for herself. That meant breaking the movement into smaller components and strengthening the muscles she needed most to complete the move. “Sometimes I have to get really good at something really fast for a job,” she says. “The best way to master a cool new skill is to break down the mechanics.” Throughout her life, Graff has also worked hard to master circus arts, gymnastics, pole vaulting, martial arts, and rock climbing, among other skills. Her advice: Find a skill, sport, or hobby that inspires you, and use that as motivation to build the strength needed to succeed at it.
TRAIN SMARTER—NOT HARDER
After multiple injuries, including a stress fracture in her hip and a knee injury that resulted from overtraining, Graff now knows when to take her foot off the gas. “I learned to pay attention to that little twinge and not just push through it,” she says. Regular stretching, massage therapy, and foam rolling help, she notes, as does incorporating off days.
[RELATED2]
BELIEVE IN YOURSELF—EVENTUALLY
When it comes to achieving big goals, like running a marathon, Graff stresses that it’s OK to not believe in yourself—at least at first.
“I find many people are discouraged by the concept that you have to believe,” she says. “My message is that even if you don’t believe, all you need is the courage to try. More often than not, you’ll surprise yourself with what you’re capable of.”
One of Graff’s strategies is to set small attainable goals leading up to the big goal. After completing the smaller, more reasonable tasks, true belief will eventually set in.
SET NEW GOALS
Graf fis all about taking on new challenges, even if they take her in a totally unexpected direction. “I blew out my knee and couldn’t do any lower-body training, so I had to come up with something new to work on.” Graff’s pullup game was weak, so she started doing six pullups at a time. Within a few months, she was doing more than 20 at a time. (Today she can do 40.)
TURN YOUR DIET INTO A GAME
“I’m always trying to get more vegetables into my diet, but I also have a sweet tooth, so I give myself a challenge: I get one point for every serving of vegetables that I eat,” says Graff, who rewards herself with something sweet when she reaches 10 points. “If I only have four points in the day and I find myself reaching for a bowl of dark chocolate chips, I’ll switch to something like a smoothie with kale and spinach, which will give me another six points in one glass! Then, if I still want it, I have the chocolate.”
[RELATED3]
USE YOUR BRAIN
“Almost all your physical success comes from your thought process,” Graff says. Mental focus is also key when it comes to completing new challenges. “Analyze the situation and approach the best way to get the job done,” she adds. “I have to take time to analyze an obstacle so I can jump at the correct angle. It helps to step back and consider what you are doing and how to do it.”
BEST YOURSELF
“I’m obsessed with beating records,” Graff says. “My goal is to find a baseline of something I want to do and then surpass it.” The key, she adds, is consistency. Recently, Graff decided to take on fingertip pushups. “I couldn’t do a single one, not even on my knees,” she says. “I broke it down to the most basic part—a crawling position—and did as many reps as I could. Then I’d take a couple of days off and try again.” After three months, she can now crank out more than 20 fingertip pushups.
GET A GREAT TRAINING PARTNER
Graff finds amazing camaraderie in the stunt community. “Almost everyone in the field is exceptional at something, whether it’s gymnastics, martial arts, or free running, and it’s inspiring to see what they can do and discover new things from them.” But perhaps her favorite training partner is Sammo Hog, her 111-pound Juliana pig. (Follow her on Instagram @SammoHog.) Although Graff incorporates Sammo Hog into moves like pullups and backflips, she says her pet is best for her rest days. “She’s such a cuddler—you can’t help just wanting to take a break and hang out with her.”

It happened in the span of about 70 seconds.
It was Game 3 of the 2010 Western Conference first round, and a bunch of early 20-somethings were toe-to-toe with the eventual champion Los Angeles Lakers. It was the moment the Oklahoma City Thunder truly arrived.
The iconic third-quarter 8-0 run and eventual comeback win against the Lakers is now a piece of Thunder lore, showcasing a bit of each player’s personality and skill — a ferocious Russell Westbrook poster, a smooth James Harden 3 off the catch and a now-famous dagger Kevin Durant pull-up jumper — a moment placed in a time capsule to remember simpler times.
It was the first-ever postseason game in Oklahoma City, a chaotic energy in the arena translating into tension on the court, with the game becoming more of a civic awakening than a competition. It was an inexperienced team playing a playoff institution, a small-market duckling sending a message to one of the mightiest of the mighty big markets.
There was a purity and innocence to it all, with all three young stars oblivious to what was eventually ahead.
James Harden won the MVP after becoming the fourth player to average at least 30 points per game and help lead his team to 65 wins.
It has been more than 10 weeks since the regular season ended, and the hardware finally has been handed out to cap 2017-18.

Two years later that moment segued into another enduring image, with the Thunder’s three stars standing on the sideline together in Miami as the Heat eliminated them in a five-game Finals. Harden was in the middle, an arm around Durant and Westbrook each, watching the seconds tick away as LeBron James celebrated his first title. The trio never played another game together.
Harden was traded before the beginning of the next season, and now they each stand apart, their arms around their own franchises, with Harden joining Durant and Westbrook as MVP winners.
The original OKC big three exist only in the NBA afterlife, tucked away in the great vault of what-ifs, all realizing their full individual potential while disconnected from the others.

It’s fitting, in some ways, that Harden was the last of the old OKC trio to win MVP. He was always the Thunder’s third option, the star who had to sacrifice to serve as a sixth man, the one management wasn’t willing to give a maximum contract to keep.
Even as Harden accepts the league’s premier individual honor — a year after his second runner-up finish, when Westbrook won and the Houston Rockets felt Harden was robbed — The Beard is overshadowed by a former teammate. Durant sits atop the NBA world weeks after claiming his second consecutive Finals MVP trophy and championship with the Golden State Warriors.
Gripping those two trophies are the only moments missing from Harden’s resume as an NBA legend now. And that makes his first MVP campaign somewhat bittersweet.
“This is our year,” Harden told ESPN’s Shelley Smith midway through the season, firmly believing that the Rockets would dethrone the Warriors dynasty during the playoffs.
That came so painfully close to happening. The Rockets had the Warriors on the ropes in the Western Conference finals — even after Chris Paul, the co-star Harden recruited to Houston, suffered a series-ending hamstring strain in the final minute of a Game 5 victory that put Golden State on the brink of elimination.
The Rockets still managed to take double-digit halftime leads over the Warriors in the next two games. They ended up with the dubious distinction of becoming the first team to blow such leads in elimination games twice in the same playoff series, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
“Two games, Games 6 and 7, one half of basketball,” Harden said after the Game 7 home loss, when the Rockets missed an NBA playoff-record 27 consecutive 3-point attempts.
“We just didn’t have the same energy that we had in that first half or the pace. So it’s extremely frustrating.”
Harden has spent twice as many seasons in Houston as he did in OKC, but he’ll never break his connection with the team that drafted him. And there’s some beautiful narrative poetry that he hoisted the Maurice Podoloff Trophy exactly nine years to the day after the Thunder took him third overall.
The Thunder organization moved on quickly from the trade, with context getting shouted down by narrative. The Thunder won 60 games the season after trading Harden with the league’s top margin of victory (even eliminating Harden and the Rockets in the first round) but had their season effectively ended when Patrick Beverley ran into Westbrook’s knee.
They went to the Western finals two more times — losing to the San Antonio Spurs in six games, then the Warriors in seven after taking a 3-1 lead — before Durant left in free agency.
And with Paul George‘s future hanging in the wobbly balance of free agency, the Thunder may be as far away as ever.

The Thunder have positioned themselves to at least have a chance at George, something a year ago would’ve been a pipe dream. The Thunder have gone from not even on the meeting list to sitting in pole position with a real opportunity to keep him, at least for another season.
The organization has spent a year recruiting him, from the time he stepped off the plane and ushered to a welcome party, to a few team staffers — including Donovan — being invited by George’s family to Southern California to join a surprise birthday party for George last week.
There really hasn’t been a team to experience three consecutive seismic summers like the Thunder, from Durant leaving, to the uncertainty around Westbrook, to George’s pending decision. And with Harden taking his own MVP, and Durant winning a second straight title and accompanying Finals MVP, you wouldn’t blame the Thunder for being trapped in the void of hindsight. But that’s never been the Thunder’s approach.
As it’s always been, it’s on to the next.

The hope in Houston is that last season wasn’t the Rockets’ best shot at dethroning the Warriors dynasty, just their first.
The price tag to keep the Rockets’ core together will skyrocket this summer with Paul commanding a max deal and blossoming star big man Clint Capela and a few key role players entering restricted free agency, but new owner Tilman Fertitta has repeatedly stated that he’s fine with paying a hefty luxury-tax bill if Houston has a contender.
General manager Daryl Morey will turn over every stone to try to add another superstar. (“We have new math,” he half-joked when added how the Rockets could make that work with the salary cap.) However, it’s much more likely that the Rockets’ roster next season will closely resemble the team that won an NBA-best 65 games in 2017-18.
Harden finally has his MVP, but he’s still seeking the satisfaction that can only come with riding on a float during a championship parade. He’s still gunning for Golden State and his old friend Durant, as the Thunder and Westbrook attempt to work their way back into contention.
“I think we’re very close, obviously,” Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni said. “Some things we’ll tweak, and we’ll get back on the horse and we’ll get these guys here pretty soon.”
Arguably the most talented trio to ever play together in the NBA has separated, scattered throughout the Western Conference. Westbrook and Harden have joined Durant in the MVP club the last two seasons, while Durant has celebrated championships, the ultimate goal that has thus far eluded his old Oklahoma City running mates.

Ole Miss women’s track and field has been named the No. 8 team in the USTFCCCA National Preseason rankings released on Wednesday, the highest preseason ranking that either the Rebel women or men have earned since the rankings began in 2008.
The No. 8 ranking ties for the second-highest overall in program history indoors. The Ole Miss women also ranked No. 8 in the final regular-season poll of 2017 in Week Seven (the Rebels went on to finish 12th at the NCAA Indoor Championships), with the all-time program high being No. 7 in Week One of 2008.
Ole Miss is one of 10 SEC schools ranked in the Preseason Top-25, as well as one of seven to fall in the top-10.
The Rebels are bolstered by four heavily-weighted performances from senior throwers Raven Saunders and Janeah Stewart. Saunders, the defending NCAA indoor shot put champion and a member of the Bowerman Preseason Watch List, earned 25.35 points in the poll for Ole Miss at her NCAA record (and national title-winning) toss of 19.56m (64-02.25). Saunders also hauled in 11.06 points for her All-American weight throw performance at the national meet last season at 21.67m (71-01.25).
Stewart, a fellow All-American, compliments Saunders by also holding the top weight throw mark entering the season at 23.18m (76-00.75) – the seventh-best toss in the United States last indoor season – for 24.04 points. Stewart is also a force to be reckoned with in the shot put, ranking ninth at 17.31m (56-09.50) for 7.85 points.
Other Rebels helping contribute to the high national team ranking are pole vaulter Lindsey Murray (4.22m/13-10.00, 4.26 points), long jumper Kaira Simmons (6.27m/20-07.00, 1.21 points) and middle-distance runner Maddie McHugh (800-meter, 2:05.38, 0.76 points).
Unlike other sports, collegiate track and field does not use a poll, but rather a computer ranking system that uses an algorithm that emphasizes individual performances. The system utilizes performances from last season (and potentially older seasons for injured or redshirted athletes in 2017).
Ole Miss opens the indoor season at UAB this Friday for the Blazer Invite. Competition is set to begin at 10 a.m. CT.
