I recently got a notification of someone liking the 6 year old version, so I was inspired to redraw it during my break, hehe.

There's something about Leixa's smug expression here that's so amusing to me. I keep imagining a Morshu-esque "MMM" from her every time I see it.
I've relearned layer masking for the umpteenth time. This was supposed be an excuse to practice with GIMP. From page 42 of New Legends of Project Soul, just a little crop with the other sketches near it hidden.

FYI: You have two days left to purchase any Soul Calibur V DLC or digital versions of the base game. There is one DLC Character, Dampierre, who is $0.99. There are also a few character creation item packs and music packs from the SC series.

On this day 11 years ago, it was announced that Ivy and Tira were receiving alternate costumes in Soulcalibur V designed by Bayonetta's character designer Mari Shimazaki. Concept art for the alternate costumes, alongside Leixia's default costume, is shown below.

Yuki Month: ONE LAST TREAT
Hey it's the 31st! I was gonna just leave Yuki Month done yesterday, but last night, I decided to plug in the PS3 to watch something. Of course, loading the PS3 meant I had access to its screenshot library.
You know who's in there?
The very first design for Yukina!
This is the character I designed when I wanted to just mess around and make up a SachiMiko baby. Back then, as well, I would post clips and screenshots for my friends of the various battles and stuff. I didn't want them to know WHO she was, so I named her "The Rookie" (also, I hadn't thought of her name yet lol)
I haven't shared these pics to the public, EVER! This is a first! Happy birth-month, indeed, Yukina~

I just want to share a realization I had while going through the Legend of Soulcalibur artbook. This occurred to me while going through the pages on Xianghua’s backstory.
Below is an excerpt from page 29. Roughly, it translates to “Xianghua’s connection with the three treasures, including the sword Krita-Yuga*, traces back to the maidenhood of her mother Xiangfei.”
Near the lower left corner is the furigana (small katakana) indicating the pronunciation of her mother’s name. The character used for her family name Chai is 柴; it turns out in Japanese, it’s pronounced “shiba”.
And I’ve only seen Xiba’s name in katakana: シバ.
That kid’s name was a pun all along!
(Footnote under the cut.)
*I used the localized name here because it would be unrecognizable otherwise. The sword’s name in Japanese is Gouhouken (護法剣), which can be literally translated as something like “demon-dispelling sword” or “sword in defense of Buddhist doctrine”. The other two treasures, Dvapara-Yuga mirror and Kali-Yuga rod, are called the Mappoukyou (末法鏡) and the Meppoukon (滅法棍) respectively. While the English localization opted for names from the Hindu cycle of ages, in Japanese only the mirror is named after one of the three Buddhist ages: the Latter Day of the Dharma (Mappou). I’m just gonna end this tangent here. I’m just a geek with a rudimentary understanding (at best) of either religion.
