I have a question for you as a GIF maker:

What is you opinion on other GIF makers that get possessive over their GIFs? I mean the ones that watermark the crap out of them and post them with "this is MY work DO NOT save OR repost them" type of creators?

The ones the claim the content of the GIF as theirs type, I see their stuff and I'm just like... 🤨 uh you don't own anything in that GIF it belongs to the company and artist that posted the original video you TOOK segments from to make that GIF, it doesn't belong to you in the first place.

It just really irks me when I see GIFs i really like but the creator of the GIF is all bitchy about people saving them and sharing them.... if you didn't want people to do that then don't bother posting it on a public platform and just save it for ypurself. And if its watermarked whats the big deal? People will see you made it anyway.

But anyhow, I really like your GIFs btw and this has nothing to do with yours cause I like yours and that you just want to share them with everyone, there just happens to be another GIF maker I follow amd they get really obnoxious/bitchy about "their" GIFs being saved even though they watermark them

Before I fully answer this;; I think this goes for all gif makers;; the amount of time and energy that essentially goes into gif making can be a lot depending on ones giffing style and the programs etc that they use🥺

I don't think for me I've come across a gif maker who has that mentality of the these are my gifs! don't touch sksnsn type of thing. I think the only thing most gif makers want is credit in a sense that I edited the clip;; cropped it down and convert it to make a gif and added all these things to make it shareable (?) if that makes sense.

But!! from what you're saying is it's watermarked etc and they still don't want it to be saved and shared etc which I mean I don't know who this person is so maybe they've had a bad experience with that sort of situation. But I get where you're coming from in the sense it's bothersome to see when you're trying to enjoy their work and or want to share it :/ And being bitchy about it idk is the right way to go because edmdnjd. It'll only make people want to do what your asking them not to cause people are petty.

As for the claiming the gifs from a clip that isn't ours to begin with I get but in a different way of someone once told me I was giffing a certain video too much and I should leave some for the rest of the gif makers and I was like huh? dksjsj it's not yours why can't I gif the parts I want djdjd. But again;; I thi k everyone is different and some people out more into gif making then others so that could be their reasoning behind it which is completely okay and understand as a gif maker myself whose work wa since stolen on multiple occasions but I just gave up on trying to fight people about it if that makes sense. There are endless amazon co tent creators out there so I'm sure if a few don't really rub you the right way you can always find alternatives even if you love their gifs which is a compliment in itself but I 100% understand what you mean by being excessive about not sharing their work but thankfully the gif makers I've interacted with etc all love for their works to be shared so long as credit is given. 💜
