on 04/dec/2022 @ 16h32 this photo was taken to document this Thai restaurant in ste-foy…I have seen the door open maybe 7 times in the past year…I smell no food being cooked when i walk by and i always ignore the place
too bad…Thai cuisine is one of my favorite
supposedly another Thai restaurant is opening on rue de la republic soon. Until that ouverture…Thai food is for sale every Saturday at the street market…obviously there’s a large demographic that loves Thai food…a long queue snakes down the block waiting for their weekly treasures.

somewhere on rue Victor Hugo with Rafa

on 04/déc/2023 at around 17h26 this photo was taken to document a tiny Christmas tree left behind on the rue Victor Hugo…it was decorated with handmade paper notes…pine cones…various bright leaves remnant of autumnal colors…and colored string for a garland…white snow flakes were strewn about on the tree and the sidewalk…the tree had a lovely form and presence for its petite size…the person who created this masterpiece knows magic
it was a blustery cold day

est-ce la renaissance ?
somewhere on rue Victor Hugo with Rafa my dog
——-
my village is full of emptiness everywhere…it is not hard to find run down, vacant shops during my walks with Rafa…ste-foy obviously has seen the ebb and flow of history since 1076 AD
a lot of artists have turned abandoned storefronts into ateliers…they live in the back…I have witnessed before dead villages & cities surge back to life because of artists and art ——-

on rue Victor Hugo sits this stone solid behemoth of a building that is always tightly locked and shuttered…I have never seen life of any sorts stirring about

Rafa does not speak French or English…Rafa speaks Food ——-
in ste-foy the rue Victor Hugo is filled with desolate store fronts….the village is clamoring to cut deals with entrepreneurs to set up businesses
we have one guy who opened a stone and crystal shop…there are statues carved in popular spirituality themes…or….stones set as jewelry to bring relief from anxiety, asthma and poverty to name but a few of the many remedies…he spends much of the day ensconced in his doorway smoking and talking with the neighboring businesses…he adores petting Rafa…Rafa and I adore his friendly character

reconstruction boom
somewhere in ste-foy with Rafa
——-
on 23/nov/2022 @ about 13h38 Rafa and me were walking on the rue Victor Hugo which is a major artery that runs east/west through ste-foy where we noticed so much construction work is going on that you see scenes like those recorded in these photos finding huge dumpsters that are being used to catch debris from the upper floors and the RdC and all this is happening simultaneously up and down the street and i believe you will see in the future our vision of ste-foy is coming alive with the total rebirth of this village and you will see more interesting businesses other than kebab/tajine restaurants and hair cutters although I hope we don’t loose all the kebab/tajine restaurants as we have our favorites & you know 2 art galleries are opening up and Antoni works every day on his business plan to open his boutique for skin care next year which is his expertise and he loves what he does and i pray he is successful as times are difficult in Gironde
I believe all this can and will happen if the war is resolved soon…the coming world wide economic contraction is not as severe as expected…as well as the long overdue recession does not drive up the price of baguettes around the world…goddesses help us to be prudent and brave
