Just noticed my FR achievement counter hit 666...I guess I can never claim another achievement again 😔
Okay though to be fair, I really do have a giant glut of achievement tokens. I wish they would introduce some sort of fabulous, very high priced item in the achievement shop. It would be nice to be able to use them up on something, plus I would be super interested to see what the effects would be on the achievement item economy (just for fun, I am no good at market games but I like to observe, lol)

A short defense of Tom Nook - not everything I have to say, but I still want to say it nonetheless. I commented it on a YouTube video if you recognise it from anywhere.
In the old games, Tom Nook was freshly hurt from his time in the city - Redd had just scammed him of everything he owned! He had moved to the city to try to accomplish his dreams but he was too pure and kind hearted to thrive in a place like that. Sable will tell you all about it in Wild World, and sometimes you can even get Tom talking about it himself.
“Sweet, young Tom Nook...
His call to arms, his ethos, was
"Dreams before money!"
He was so pure that people wondered if he'd survive this crazy old world. I did too. Every night before falling asleep, I would wish him...
“Please keep Tom Nook's pure spirit protected,"
I'd whisper in the darkness.
"Keep him safe from the apathy that breeds in the alleys of the big city...”
I don't know why I've told you so much about Tom Nook and I...
All those memories of our shared youth must bore you.
Please forgive me."
- Sable
He returned to his hometown with “my tail between my legs” to start all over again. So he didn’t have a house! No money, barely any possessions. In Animal Crossing e+, a version of the game that only released in Japan with some bonus features, you can bang on his door three times with a shovel or axe and force him to let you in. He’ll be in a little nightgown and cap and carry his pillow around, walk super slowly, buy things for less and sell things for more.
This is probably why he seemed more ‘mean’ in those older games. He’s trying to protect you from getting hurt like he did! He’ll even directly say he thinks his real job is to teach young people to not make the same mistakes he did.
“...Young [name]... I bet you think...
...that all I think about is money and how to make more of it, hm? Don't you?
[select Well, yeah.]
Well, perhaps you're right...
But I'm absolutely, 100% OK with that, hm? Indeed!
I like to think that it's my job to show you young people how hard life is!
As an adult, it's my responsibility. It's my TRUE job, if you will, hm?"
- Tom Nook
He donates 90% of his profits to an orphanage 3 towns over from his hometown, and I believe he has a hospital wing named after him - though don’t quote me on that.
And, just to add, while Timmy and Tommy aren’t his biological sons, he did find them and raise them himself!
That man is a SAINT. And I’m not even mentioning the fact that his loans are interest free, but YOU can earn interest on bells you keep in the ATM, and the fact that his loans aren’t even very expensive at all.
Bells are equivalent to Japanese yen (confirmed by the Switch items in New Horizons - the number of bells they cost is the same amount of yen they sold for when first released). Your house in New Horizons comes to around 5.6 million bells (or yen) in the end, which is equivalent to around £29,000 or about $37,000. That is an INSANELY low price for a beachfront house on a nice island like that! He’s mental to sell a house that cheap! He’s an angel.

The N64 controller you’ve dreamed of is here...Well almost
(Revision 4-18-21)
Journalistic integrity - it’s a big deal and a responsibility to your reading audience. When I initially typed out this review, I gave glowing praise and highly recommended the Brawler64 from Retro Fighters after only testing it with a handful of games. Since this review, I’ve spent much more time with the controller and it’s flaws became more apparent throughout my lengthy play sessions with it.
Don’t get me wrong, I still whole-heartedly recommend picking this product up if you’re an N64 fanatic and I still stick by my rating. That said, I felt the need to illustrate a couple of negatives that may determine if you want to for sure pick this item up or not.
I’ve learned that this controller does not support a Transfer Pak. So if you’re a fan of the Pokemon Stadium games, you’ll have to stick to your original N64 controller. It may not be a big deal to some, but it may be for others looking to fully replace their original controllers.
Another problem I’ve had is the D-pad. Any time I had to use it frequently, I felt like I had to push fairly hard to get it to work. It was responsive enough, but there’s a “springy-ness” missing that made me second-guess my presses, wondering if the game registered my input. Since most games use the joystick, it’s not a huge deal but as mentioned above it’s something to consider if you’re looking to replace your original N64 controllers.
I’ll take a moment to also highlight another feature I didn’t use in the initial review -The turbo button and it functions great. I used it in combination with a cheat-code for Earthworm Jim 3D that allowed me to nuke the first-level boss into oblivion. It’s also great if you’re buying something in bulk on Mega Man 64 and you don’t want to have to press a button a hundred times to confirm your sale.
As great at the Brawler64 is, it’s not going to entirely replace the original controllers - yet. Retro Fighters are still producing these products and I hope down the line, they can give us the perfect N64 controller.
Continue on for the original review.
(This will probably read like a paid ad, but I assure you it’s not. I don’t have that kind of clout. I just really like this controller. On with the review...)
Maybe it’s me but it seems as if the Nintendo 64 is getting a lot of love these days. For one, the modding community is as strong as it’s ever been, the Smash Bros 64 competitive scene is on it’s way up and thanks to releases of long-lost titles like 40 Winks and groundbreaking prototype drops like Dinosaur Planet, there’s been plenty to talk about.
With all this new interest, people are dusting off their old N64s, armed with fond childhood memories of good times and rediscovering their love of Nintendo’s first 3D console. Problem is, the N64 is a *little* dated and our modern sensibilities have somewhat crippled us to the ways of the past. That old awkward controller with the squeaky joystick doesn’t quite feel like it used to but fear not, company “Retro Fighters” offers a solution: The Brawler64!
Tumblr media
I don’t own any third-party clones or reproduction controllers - mostly because I’m cheap and most of the time, they’re expensive. I was playing my N64 a week ago and my controller was showing it’s age - lag problems, unresponsive movements, and awkwardly trying to hold it kept me from enjoying myself.
I went to a local hobby shop and seen the Brawler64 for sale for 34 bucks - a reasonable price and I figured I had nothing to lose so I grabbed it and brought it home. Before I discuss my experience, this is what the Brawler64 promises on the box.
Tumblr media
Like anything I pick up without any prior knowledge, I was skeptical but I popped in Super Smash Bros and let me tell you - Retro Fighters nailed it. Not only does it handle well with super-responsive controls, but the way it feels in your hands is unrivaled. It makes the original N64 controller obsolete in every way.
Tumblr media
I love everything about the Brawler64 and could kick myself for not getting one sooner. It plays good, feels good and aesthetically pleases me in the same way the old see-through purple controller did when I first laid eyes on it all those years ago.
I tested a number of games with it and had no issues whatsoever, minus one game. The efficient button placement gave me an unstrained and smooth experience that made me feel connected to whatever I was playing, 100%. I even played through more than one level of Turok and I can’t say I’ve ever done that because of how badly I hate how that game used to control.
Tumblr media
The only game I had an issue with was Sinistar on Midway’s Greatest Arcade Hits. For whatever reason my ship would jitter at times, but truthfully, I’m not going to be playing Sinistar all that much anyways. Also, I didn’t get to test the turbo feature, since none of my games would really utilize it properly.
I couldn’t test Brawler64 with a Rumble Pak because I don’t own one, however it did work with my old memory card with no issues.
Tumblr media
I’ve seen other N64 repro pads in the past but never took the plunge to buy them for one reason or the other. Either the shape and size of the controller was off, or the button-placement looked wonky. For my money, however The Brawler64 controller got everything right and reconnected me with my N64.
It’s definitely worth going out of your way to pick up. You can visit Retro Fighter’s website and pick up a wired or wireless controller in a variety of different colors. Ditch that old trident and bring your N64 into the future.

Wardrobe post 2021 part 1 - dresses (image and text heavy)
For years I have wanted to tag along the trend in the EGL community to make a wardrobe post. But I just never took the time and effort to go through with it. Perhaps it’s because I’m so used to writing about merchandise that I sometimes feel a little lost what to write when it comes to clothes?
So let’s go 2021, let’s do this!
In this post I will focus on dresses, so get ready for a lot of pictures, along with my endless ramblings. 🙏
Tumblr media
Rabbit Circus by Zhijinyuan - Release unknown
Now this dress is a walking mystery for me, which most offbrand dresses often becomes for me. I first saw this on google image search while checking out different circus cords, and I fell in love with it instantly.
However every site I managed to find it on seemed to be a bit shady, so I was a little bit cautious if I would end up with something similar to the stock photos of it, or a nightmare of cheap fabric.
At the end I stumbled across it on a Japanese lolita store called Alice Doll, which seemed to be a reseller of some taobao dresses. The price was around 4000 yen, which made me think “at least it’s not a too good to be true deal” and placed an order.
Tumblr media
And I’m so glad I ended up ordering it!
Yes the skirt part of the dress does feel a bit cheaper in the fabric than my other brand ones, but there is such a lovely attention to details in it! Plus I’m a big fan of the jacquard texture in the fabric.
Tumblr media
Jewelry Print Chiffon JSK by Alice and the Pirates - 2007
Being an adult means I can purchase old dream dresses I used to have as a teenager. And this is one of them!
Funny story, I used to own this print in another model and colour. But sold it because I mostly bought it as a compromise for not finding this specific model.
So here I am, years later and owning that exact dream. It fits wonderfully, and the asymmetrical cut is even more beautiful in person.
Sadly mine is missing the pearl chain in the front, so I replaced it with a navy coloured bow instead.
Tumblr media
Twinkle School Tartan JSK by Angelic Pretty - 2007
This feels like a piece of Swedish lolita history.
Over the years I have seen several people in the community all over Sweden own this dress, and also bought it secondhand from a Swedish lolita.
I wonder if this is the same dress that all those people have owned before, or if there are more Twinkle School Tartan jsks floating around here?
Tumblr media
Titel unknown by Mary Lolita -  Release unknown
I’m a really big fan of balloons, especially hot air ones. It’s just something about them that always makes me smile.
So when I found this dress I immediately had to get it, despite not knowing too much about the brand.
It’s easily one of my most comfortable dresses, and works perfect for more casual, yet colourful outfits.
Tumblr media
Miracle Rabbit by 由纪的八音盒 - 2020
My absolute favorite theme for lolita dresses are circus and rabbit prints, so I was overjoyed when I found out the existance about this dress.
And not only that, I was quite lucky since it was sold out in almost every model, except my most desired cut, colour and size. A match made in heaven 🐰
Tumblr media
Holy Night Story Switch JSK by Angelic Pretty - 2010
Another old dream dress of mine!
I bought this after my last breakup to cheer myself up a lil bit, but despite being purchased during such a sad time I never feel sadness whenever I look at it.
Except for circus themes, I’m a huge sucker for anything reminding me of marching band outfits. And also rats, rats are very important too. (Yes they are probably mice but let a girl dream)
Tumblr media
My favorite detail on this one is that it’s missing one of the original buttons, and the owner before me replaced it with this crown button instead. I don’t know why, but I just find it super cute haha.
Tumblr media
Dot Jacquard Circus JSK by Innocent World - 2008
More circus dresses!
I ended up loving this dress so much that I am actually on the hunt for the black one as well.
Tumblr media
Bertille OP by Mary Magdalena - 2009
Despite often dressing in OTT sweet lolita prints, this dress often makes me feel a little bit too overdressed sometimes? It’s just so elegant that I feel a little bit out of place sometimes haha.
But I don’t have the heart in me to sell it, because when I do end up wearing it I just love the silhouette way too much to even consider parting with it.
(I do have the bow for the front, I just forgot to dig it up from my accessory boxes)
Tumblr media
Dressing Up Bunny-Chan Corduroy JSK by Angelic Pretty - 2006
Time really has taken it’s toll on this dress.
I love it to death, but it makes me a little sad to see how much the blue has faded to more of a grey colour. The zipper is also broken and have to be replaced.
Sadly it’s not a hyped enough old school dress to ever see a re-release. So I will continue to care for it till the day it finally gives up.
...and then buy a new one , because boy oh boy, I love it so much.
Tumblr media
Sugary Carnival OP by Angelic Pretty - 2009 or 2011
I was SUPER lucky when I purchased this dress last year, even if it arrived to me in a condition that is unacceptable in my eyes.
Always imagined myself buying the JSK version of this colourway, but I ended up liking the OP more than I thought.
The fabric is quite faded over the years, and I’m a little bit worried it might not match too well with the 2020 re-release of the headbow, but it’s a risk I’m willing to take.
Tumblr media
Tiara Rose Tiered JSK by Angelic Pretty - 2009
My very first Angelic Pretty dress, and it’s still with me.
Originally purchased to wear to a wedding I was gonna attend, and kept ever since.
Tumblr media
Dreamy Dollhouse Switching JSK by Angelic Pretty - 2009
Another dress from my breakup phase.
Purchased this while I was hospitalized as a “Bitch you’re gonna get though this”-gift to myself.
I was quite lucky with this find, since I managed to get the JSK and headbow in a set for 5000 yen.
Tumblr media
Frederick Party Picot Lace JSK by Innocent world - 2007
I used to own this skirt in pink many many years ago, but sold it when I was getting into figure collecting and desired money for that instead. Big regrets on my part, since I ever since then desperately wanted it back.
Since then I have not managed to decide on which cut I desire for the pink one, but I was 100% about the blue one. And luckily that exact cut and colour is hanging safe and sound in my closet 💖
Tumblr media
Milky-Chan the Fawn Ribbon JSK by Angelic Pretty - 2009
It’s kind of funny that for SC my plan was to get the JSK, but ended up with the OP instead. And it’s the complete opposite with my Milky-Chan.
This is another dress that I might not use too much, but it’s mostly because I’m a big slob and terrified of spilling something on it. Plus it’s a nightmare to iron with the ribbons on the straps and the pearl details haha.
Tumblr media
Lyrical Party Going-out JSK by Angelic Pretty -  2011
My love for bunnies of course includes loving Lyrical Bunny. The design of this lil bun is just so cute and I can’t get enough of seeing it. I want to get more items such as accessories and novelties, but there’s always something that stops me from getting them. Like when they do pop up i’m out of cash for the moment, or sell out super fast.
So I feel lucky to at least own the Lyrical Party JSK. At first I planned on getting this in lavender, but I’m quite happy I ended up with the pink one instead.
Tumblr media
Melty Chocolate High Waist JSK by Angelic Pretty - 2010
My pride and joy, my absolute dreamdress.
I was on the hunt for this colourway for so long that it drove me crazy. It popped up secondhand on sites not quite perfect for my timezone, so it often sold out while I had been asleep.
But a few days after Christmas in 2019 it finally showed up while I was still awake, and I purchased it with no hesitation.
Tumblr media
Sugary Carnival JSK by Angelic Pretty - 2021
Not yet in my wardrobe, but I want to mention it anyway. I can’t wait till October😭😭

10 Christmas Gifts ‘for her’ if you’re completely clueless
Since it's apparently time to start thinking about that time of year I thought I'd jump on and attempt to give you some help in an attempt to spark some ideas. Whether you're using this list for ideas for your other half, your mum or sister, or even if you are that person that likes something on this list why don't you send it over as a wee hint... the irony of this is that I've banned my boyfriend from looking at this list as there's a few spoilers on here for his gifts! (Hope he enjoys a wee eyeshadow palette😬).
So let’s start...
1. AIRPODS
I'm sure this will be a big gift this year and a perfect gift if you know they'll be getting a new phone or laptop! Perfect for a music lover or just the person that always needs to have the next big thing! I'd recommend planning to get a pair of these bad boys from Amazon or Currys during the Black Friday sale.
2. STUDIO LIGHT
A gift my mum got me unexpectedly a few years back and I haven't looked back. Not just for the MUA or photography student in your life but even just for every day make up application and I know my friends always use mine for checking their outfits or taking selfies before a night out! I've shown in the product photo how you can get a full sized one or a desk sized one easily on Amazon, your choice. Along this line would also be a Hollywood mirror, the big vanity mirrors with the bright lights installed but they can be hard to source as they're so popular and you need to make sure they're the bright studio lights. Top tip would just be to check the dimensions so you know what you're getting.
Tumblr media
3. POLAROID CAMERA
I wanna say this is a cult favourite. I don't know many girls who don't have one of these now but if your gift recipient is one of them then it'd be a great gift! They're a great idea for Christmas, birthdays and anniversaries because it means you can capture the memories and of course ironically take a photo of the polaroid with your phone and post it to Instagram!! They come in a variety of colours and you can purchase accessories and refillable polaroid packs for other special occasions after, making it the gift that keeps on giving.
Tumblr media
4. VINYL PLAYERS
Another gift that keeps on giving. If they're a real music lover and always have Spotify going in their room, and with the lack of concerts this year, this would be a very thoughtful gift. You can get these lads pretty cheap on Amazon or fork out for the pricey ones from UO. The only downside is that the actual Vinyl records themselves is where this gifts will cost you the most, but at least you'll always have an idea for next years present.
Tumblr media
5. FOREVER ROSES
Now these guys can be quite boujee and I remember them being really popular a few years ago. If you type 'forever roses' into google or, probably better yet, Instagram you'll get a lot of companies selling gift sets of these specially preserved roses that can last for years. An incredibly romantic and surprising gift, this one can cost you big bucks but if you shop around enough you can get single roses for around £20 or major bunches for a few hundred but it's sure to win you major brownie points.
Tumblr media
6. LUSH
This is the standard gift and perfect for a Christmas Eve bath. If you couldn't come up with this present on your own then please pay close attention to this blog because oh buddy you will need it! There are so many gift boxes to choose from at Lush and the great thing is you can't go wrong with any of them. Not to worry if you don't have a bath too because I also have you covered with these Lush sprays which are sooo good that you won't need to work out what their favourite perfume is for the third year in a row. (Also a great brand to support for its morals which is a bonus!!)
Tumblr media
7. BLANKETS
Not only perfect for those cosy Winter and lockdown nights but also a great home decor item that is so popular on Instagram! These massive knit blankets can get incredibly pricey online, ranging from 20ish quid for a tiny one to a few hundred for the massive ones, so if you're willing to pay that then go ahead but top tip is to have a look in Home Bargains because they had these guys in all year for £25 and even Primark Home had a few in recently but I'd get ahead of the game for this one before they sell out...
Tumblr media
8. JEWELLERY
Now I'm not a massive jewellery fan myself but some girls just go ga-ga for a princess ring. If you're wondering if your girlfriend/sister/daughter is one of them you can identify these people by their less-than-subtle 'just gonna post this here xx' social media posts sharing the Pandora sales. I know most boys get scared to choose jewellery in case the person 'doesn't like it' blah blah but chances are unless they've told you somethng they specifically want or you've been missing some massive hints (ie. ring photos 'accidentally' sent to you) then they'll appreciate literally anything you choose. It's the idea you've went and chosen something specifically for them more than the item itself that matters. If you like it, they'll like it more. The big site is Pandora and many sites like it will have 'Christmas Gift Guide' sections to make it super easy for you. Top tip: you could do a wee price low-high if this is just an add-on gift and although it's horrible to say they will most likely look it up and check how much you spent on it... sorry about that!
Tumblr media
9. EYESHADOW PALETTE
Now this is one you will most likely skip over because it feels like delving into a massive jungle with no map and no water and actually no shoes and no clue whatsoever of where to start. That's what boys feel like trying to buy girls make up and I really can't blame you. In fact, if you haven't been told exactly what to buy then who could blame you but if you're really looking to impress and go the extra mile and know they like make up then I'm going to attempt to help you as best I can and try and keep it really simple! So, first of all you'll need to somehow have a look at their collection when they're getting ready or be super stealthy and just double check they don't have the palette you're going to get them.
This is important. Right, so question one is do they watch YouTubers do make up? Because if they do then simply find out who they watch and check if that influencer has a palette or collab with a makeup brand because then your job is done for you!! If they've told you all about the James Charles/Tatti/Jefree Starr drama that encapsulated YouTube in the past then find out who's side they support because all three of those guys have palettes! James Charles x Morphe Artistry palette, Tatti has her own brand, or if they came out supporting Jeffree Starr and Shane Dawson in the whole fiasco then the Jeffree Starr 'Conspiracy palette' is for you. To each their own. These two main palettes I've featured on the left below for you to have a look at.
The top right palette is the new HUDA Beauty Naughty Nude palette and it's the one I'd go for if you're really unsure still! It's a new release so doubtful they have it and there's no crazy colours so can be used by everyone. It would be my top recommendation for make up this Christmas.
The three below that are all YouTuber/Influencer collabs with makeup brands that have been pretty popular this year. From the left: BPerfect x Stacey Marie Carnival III Love Tahiti Palette is one to get if you know they love doing colourful and adventurous looks, middle: Carli Bybel Palette x Anastasia Beverly Hills and far right: BPerfect x Jah Makeup Artist Clientele Palette are both perfect for more simple looks or if they don't go wild with colour and are both from big brands so will be very much appreciated!
God, this really could have been its own post where I explained it a bit better but alas...
Tumblr media
10. HAIR CURLERS/WAVER
Maybe they're not as into makeup and prefer hair, or maybe they just love both? Then a Beauty Works hair styler would be a boujee gift for them. So, for this you can do the standard version of the products (gold) or you can do the newer versions in the collab with Molly Mae (pink). It's up to you. These products are pricey but great quality. First is the hair curler (Professional styler) which is great if both you and they love their hair curly, and you can't go wrong with Molly Mae's signature bouncy curls. The second option is a new trend in hair his year, The Waver, which creates the mermaid waves that I've pictured Molly Mae wearing below (and yes boys they’re different than curls) and a great gift if they already have the curler. Top tip: is to get these lads while ASOS have 20% off because you're grabbing yourself a bargain or if you're really on a budget many brands do these products without the hefty price tag.
Tumblr media
BONUS: GIFT ADVENT CALENDER
This year there is a major boom in the idea of gift advent calendars, so behind every door is a small gift instead of chocolate. Now what would be super adorable is to buy advent boxes online and fill them yourself with personalised gifts but luckily many brands have brought out their own versions! The best one I have saw so far this year is this PrettyLittleThing beauty calendar but it has been sold out for some time now! ASOS etc. are doing their own versions and there have even been adorable versions in the likes of HomeBargains and B&Ms where you can get candle or even alcohol versions.
Tumblr media
Well, I hope this helped even a little bit! If you're really on the ball you'll have noticed I haven't included anything like the staple Primark pyjamas or everything seems catered towards girlfriends or 'for her' but not to worry I've many more versions planned, including 'for him', 'on a budget', and 'how to dress up your present'!
Happy (very early) Christmas!🎁🎄
