Sekiro does female characters the way I wish most franchises dealt with women. Sekiro remembers that women actually make up half of human population and are fully fledged human beings. The corrupted monk, O’rin of the water, Emma, the Divine Child, Snake Eyes Shirahagi and Shirafuji, and the Okami warriors are so seamlessly integrated into the story and at no point does their sex matter. Even the lore includes them in so well, for instance Tomoe and the Sculptor’s girl, Kingfisher are so intriguing and this is how I feel women need to exist in stories. Like they belong there

Snake Eyes of the Sunken Valley
I decided to make some fanart of the bosses I absolutely dread when I play Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. There are two, same model and same moveset, but change in location. Both are weak to poison, Sabimaru is a must.
Snake Eyes Shirafuji can be found in the cold reaches of her home, The Sunken Valley, which contains the gun fort. The fort houses the sunken valley clan. Her arena is small, so jumping and running around doesn't help very much. She will be the first one of the twins you will find in your journey to sever immortality or become shura.
Snake Eyes Shirahagi can be encountered in the Ashina depths in a poison swamp-like area, however she will only spawn in when you kill the guardian ape, by that time you would have met with Shirafuji and bested the gun fort. She will be the mid boss you fight before the guardian ape duo.
Out of both of them I'll say Shirafuji is harder, just because you are limited on space and she can't be cheesed. Yes you can get a free deathblow on her, but that doesn't compare to Shirahagi who can literally get herself killed by standing in the poison swamp for too long.
Sunken Valley low key is one of my favorite factions, to the point where I kinda wished we had a sunken valley arts that would revolve around gunpowder.

My Top 5 Most Bullshit Bosses In Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Tumblr media
My latest foray into From Software’s latest adventure took me into feudal Japan as the sword-wielding Sekiro as his goal to protect Lord Kuro from the many forces of evil that lay await. Note, I didn’t fight every boss in the game so some that you think might be either good or bullshit, I’ll be leaving out since I didn’t fight them (I.E. Demon Of Hatred...and so on..and this applies for both lists I’ll be doing).
There’s a shit ton of bosses in this game and I’m going to give you what I think (key phrase “I think”) are the top 5 most bullshit bosses in this game.
Dishonorable Mention 1: General Tenzen Yamauchi
If there’s one thing this game has, it’s bosses surrounded by other enemies (I.E. a gang fight). Yamauchi comes just after fighting the Chained Ogre and by the heavens, he’s surrounded by a good amount of backup...which with another boss that’s on this list, that’s an unfair advantage. Fortunately for you, you can aggro and de-aggro Yamauchi while you take out his backup. While you can aggro and de-aggro him, doing it can be a pain early in the game as you’re limited not only in healing but resurrection seeds too as you only have one. Once you take out his backup, the real battle begins. Stealth deathblow his first health bar then either go aggressive against him or counter attack and dodge him to whittle down his vitality and posture and you’ll be golden.
Dishonorable Mention 2: Okami Leader Shizu
After taking down Genichiro, Way Of Tomoe, you should be good at redirecting lightning right? Well sure...if you didn’t have a boss that pretty much had a bullshit run to it and could strike you with it anywhere that isn’t in his general boss area. That’s what Shizu is. Okami Leader Shizu can only be found in Fountainhead Palace (I.E. any ending but the bad one). The issue with Shizu isn’t the fight itself because it’s simple as fuck, but the run to it. After taking down the Corrupted Monk, you’re pretty much told to take this guy down as he’ll strike lightning at you from virtually anywhere, including the water..because limitless range right? The run to him can be a nightmare as you’ll encounter mist noble-like enemies and large groups of other enemies including dogs that can fire lightning at you..yeah, I’m betting by now, Shura sounds like a good ending to go with. Once you reach him though, he’s a cakewalk if you’re halfway decent at redirecting lightning at him and if you’ve got the Anti-Air Deathblow skill, even better.
Now let’s get onto the formal list with number 5.
#5: O’Rin Of The Water
There’s plenty of bosses within Mibu Village and one of the many is O’Rin. What can I say about her is thank the stars she’s optional. You encounter her by talking to her and that’s when the bullshit begins. Mibu Village nor the run to her aren’t hard. So what makes her a pound of bullshit? She can turn invisible. That’s right, she can turn invisible to the point where you can’t hit her. Thankfully, you’ve got at least two saving graces: The first being her short posture bar and the second being that you can cheese mortal draw to hell and back. It may be an unfair tactic, but fight bullshit with bullshit.
#4: Snake Eyes Shirahagi
If you want to talk bullshit, Snake Eyes Shirahagi is the straight definition of bullshit. Shirahagi is surrounded by ranged enemies, has a gun, and also located in a pool of poison. These elements are what makes Shirahagi more unfair than Shirafuji at least to me. Thankfully, two of the three ranged flankers you can take out before even going after the boss. The other one is located within about 10 feet of the boss. Getting a stealth deathblow is key here as parrying or dodging the boss’ gun attacks can be difficult to do. If you’ve got Sabimaru or Double Ichimonji, Shirahagi can be doable. Aggression is the name of the game here
#3: Corrupted Monk (Fountainhead Palace)
Shifting from gang bosses to a solo boss, this is your second battle against the Corrupted Monk. After fulfilling certain requirements to reach Fountainhead Palace, you’re first met with a boss battle against the true Corrupted Monk. Honestly, this wouldn’t have made the list if the game were running on a patch earlier than 1.03. Patches after 1.03 eliminated the ability to stealth deathblow and bypass stage one. You can still stealth blow stage two, but dealing with this BS is infuriating. Against the true monk, at least for stages one and three, you’ve got to be on your toes and armed with both firecrackers and ash to deal damage along with the Mortal Draw to counteract the amount of BS this fight now brings with it. Phase three also gives  the monk a poison attack so be careful of that as well. Careful use of said Mortal Draw and parrying attacks and dodging of unblockable attacks can give you a shot against the monk, but don’t expect a first-try beating of Corrupted Monk.
#2: Juzou The Drunkard
For an early...or even possibly late game boss, the last thing you need is another gang fight. Within Hirata Estate lies the first of three drunkard bosses, Juzou The Drunkard. Flanked by at least four other enemies around him, this fight becomes a stick and move boss fight as it becomes annoying to aggro and de-aggro Juzou to make it a fair one-on-one fight. Once you do though, you get the advantage as you’ll have a handy NPC to aid you in the fight. Bringing the flame vent and oil is another key as while the NPC is distracting Juzou, you can douse him in oil and set him on fire. I took Hirata Estate on early in my playthrough so another reason he’s bullshit is his ability to spew poison and literally destroy the NPC while you’re doing damage to Juzou.
#1: Headless (All of them)
Probably the most infuriating of the supernatural bosses within Sekiro, the Headless take the number one spot as the most bullshit boss in Sekiro. What makes this boss bullshit is its’ ability to automatically slow you down once you’re in range of it and you’re required to take divine confetti with you to damage it to begin with. If your terror meter builds up, then that’s it and you’re dead. Thankfully, the Headless only have one health bar, but what makes this boss even more bullshit is the fact that there are multiple of it and at least two are underwater meaning the underwater ones end up being a DPS race because the confetti doesn’t last for too long and swimming away from it to take another confetti causes de-aggro. You’ve got to be strong and fast when taking on the headless and the key is to not lock on and to shuffle behind it while dealing damage.
So there you have it. My opinion on what I think the 5 most bullshit bosses in Sekiro are. Stay glued for what I think the 5 best bosses in Sekiro are...along with an honorable mention or two.

I was handling playing without Kuro’s Charm pretty well, and even added to things by throwing in Bell Demon on top of it just to see how hard it was. Not too bad overall, although enemies requiring deflect were challenging.
Then Snake Eyes Shirafuji demolished me.

Forget the Great Shinobi or the Sword Saint or the optional boss. I'm pretty sure the gun grannies have collectively killed me more times than any of them.
No, yeah, absolutely. The Ashina Seven Spears guys, Snake Eyes Shirafuji and Snake Eyes Shirahagi AKA GUN GRANNIES are harder than bosses. Who the hell is Guardian Ape? Pointblank rifle shot grannies are Messed Up, man. I love them.

New year new NG+. In 3 play sessions I've made it all the way past Genichiro and acquired the Gun Fort key. This means I will be fighting my nemesis in the mid-boss category, the snake eyes, specifically Shirafuji who sits on the gun fort path just before the bridge.
I give myself 2 deaths before I beat her. I did git gud after some time playing.
So I decided to commemorate this with a small doodle
