"oh, yeah"
"i have a really important thing i need to ask of you"
"do we need to step away? are we good?"
"yeah, let's step away. (gravely) when you're in the library, i need you to do something for me."
"okay?"
"i need you to draw a couple dicks in the books, okay?"
"ohhh-kay. okay."
"just make sure it happens because i won't be there to do it for myself and it's really important."
"mhm."
"..."
"is this part of traveler con?"
"sure yeah let's say that, sure, it's definitely for that"
"huh."
"also if you want to draw some people naked in there"
"sure. i'll look for the ass trumpeters that are sometimes in the margins and then it'll just blend right in"
"yeah yeah yeah! oh my gosh that would be so wonderful!"
"yeah. it'll be great. okay"

Zelda 3 - L + un
so this one isn't writing as much as it is a little thought exercise @haijinks and I use to keep each other occupied and it is What Would Our Perfect BOTW/TOTK follow-up look like?
putting this under a cut :) it's long :)
our basic premise so far (Nintendo you can pay us $10000000 to use this) is that it's about five (maybe ten?) ish years post totk and link is visibly older! late 20s, early 30s, less boyish and more of a Real Adult. He's still getting used to having Both Arms Again, but in general everything is Normal now? Rebuilding after the Calamity is near finished, Tulin and Riju are all grown up (😭), and in general everything is chill. until! inciting incident! don't freak out, but Ganon's once again trying come back. BOO! but in my vision his soul or whatever is a sort of shooting star, a meteorite slowly falling from the sky directly towards Hyrule castle. (Imagine a huge ball of white-red light hovering above the castle throughout the game. UGH. isn't that COOL).
Guess Link is back at it again!
Because I miss them, Link has to go on a little cross-country journey, Zelda in tow, to attempt to convince the Sages/Champions to- you guessed it- BRING THE DIVINE BEASTS BACK! and he has a little quest in each region similar to botw where we get to reprogram each divine beast to aim its laser towards the Ganon Meteor. in these little quests we get to see how the last fifteenish years have really impacted the people of this world- two world-ending catastrophes that close together have got to leave a mark. how did Tulin and Riju manage growing up in Revali and Urbosa's footsteps, and having to save the world so young? Is Yunobo cool again? Is Sidon still hot?
our idea for the Gerudo/Naboris quest specifically was that just before the time this takes place, word got out about the existence of a young gerudo who (gasp!) is a boy. this isn't necessarily bad, but after ganondorf everyone's a bit on edge. so, zelda and link go to check it out, and learn that this kid's totally normal, just a bit desperate to prove his worth after being Hidden In Shame for so long. it'd be sad and about generational trauma or whatever
other things of note:
-> ZELDA DOESN'T DISAPPEAR IN THIS ONE! She actually travels with Link for some of the more plot-heavy portions of the game! I think she maybe provides some cool mechanic or something, like the memories in BOTW but if they weren't pictures. Maybe she's just a walking sheikah slate/purah pad lmao. AMD SHE CAN BE HELPFUL IN COMBAT. somehow. we haven't figured it out. can you summon her like the Sages? who knows
-> similarly, Zelda was fucked up big time by the Dragon-ing and I think another main quest has something to do with the fallout of that. maybe her cool powers are fucking up, or she has scary nightmares about being a dragon again, or visions or smth. idk man. wouldn't it be cool though.
-> link gets a third set of cool new superpowers. no ideas for what those would be
-> you can sit down whenever you want in this one
-> MY BIGGEST NEW ADDITION: because totk introduced the sky islands and the depths as new areas, we have ... drumroll.... two new divine beasts!! that's right, in the last few years people have made these areas hospitable and that means they need a giant robot animal too. to fit in. In my heart the depths beast is a snake, with the mechanic being that it's coiled around a huge stalagmite and you can rotate it up or down from the map. the sky one is a dragonfly!!!!!! and maybe it flaps its wings in a fun way! who knows!
-> you can decorate Link's house in Hateno however you want. just because I want to
-> nothing about shrines yet! I'm thinking maybe a weird mixture of the botw and totk ones? but we're not totally sure.
-> At the beginning of the game Link decides he is Retired and puts the Master Sword back!!! By the Deku Tree! so you have to get it back! but it's different this time somehow. somehow. we don't know everything.
send ideas if u have them!!! this is basically fanfiction

Have you got any headcanons for N.A.O.M.I, from SABA? 💜
Headcanons you say...
Mmmm... To be honest, I haven't thought about any before ^^". More than headcanons I tend to invent stuff out of nowhere, but maybe I'll try creating some ideas just for u 🙃.
I apologize in advance if get off the rails tho ;-;
So, let me see... I like to think that Scarlet and N.A.O.M.I. had met before the SABA game events and their relationship could've probably ended in some sort of frienship. This idea is mainly based on the fact of the existence of the Plasma Pumps. Let me explain:
First, let's start with the facts. During one cutscene of SABA, Scarlet says the following:
"(...) the Interstellar Junction, where no sack person has gone before...
No, wait, actually I think I have gone there before."
With this on mind, we can assume that Scarlet is (most likely) the first sackling that has ever steped on there. This means that N.A.O.M.I. has NEVER met a sackling before (although I beleive it's true that she KNOWS about them, since "Massive Inteligence" is part of her name, so she should have lots (if not all) of Craftworld's information storaged in her mind). So, why would she create a powerup for sacklings if none of them ever come to visit? Well, this creation's existence would be justified if it was made especifically FOR Scarlet (however, any sackling is capable of equiping it).
Let me explain myself:
Scarlet could've probably still be Knitted Knight in training by that time, but due to her adventurous spirit she went a step forward and traveled to the place ''where no sack person has gone before'' to prove her abilities. There, she was definitely given a warm welcome by N.A.O.M.I., who could've been kinda excited to finally have some company.
I think that Scarlet stayed in the Interstellar Junction for more than just a few days, where she would've probably been talking about her adventures and how no one is going to beleive she made it there, and N.A.O.M.I., she would've listened to it all gladly, since knowing lots information and data doesn't compare to the telling of a good story, a personal experience, an adventure. And so they bonded.
They found out that, in a way or another, they weren't very different from each other (not in personality though). N.A.O.M.I. learnt that Scarlet is a liiittle more adventurous and risk-taking than the avarage sackling, who prefer staying in the calm town of Loom instead of risking their lives going who knows where, so it was revealed that Scarlet thought her life was being kinda monotonous. That would explain better what she was doing in the Interstellar Junction.
And for N.A.O.M.I. this was quite the information. True, she knew LOTS of things, but that doesn't mean knowing a specific individual, and in fact, this has become quite a problem as time passed. When you (think) you know kinda everything, your daily life is as monotonous as can be: there's literally nothing new to 'learn' in any day. But now, this monotony was broken, not only by a sackling visitor (smth stragely enough) but also by a true adventurer and 'storyteller', someone who could make her feel like traveling through the entire Craftwold because, as ironic as it sounds, I beleive she hasn't been able of doing it (travel) by herself, since the Interstellar Junction needs her constant supervision.
In return, she decided to give Scarlet a gift, the Plasma Pumps, since she noticed the sackling was thirsty for some good challenging scenarios. (And probably to keep her entertained while she was busy doing stuff). She created them for Scarlet because she was a friend, a very good one, (you don't create such stuff for a 'nobody' after all) who showed her a little bit more about the world and life.
I wonder though why I have the feeling that Scarlet kinda avoids her through the development of the game (S:ABA). Probably a misunderstanding happened? They had to divide paths? I'm not sure, but I just have this feeling. I don't have any evidence for this last idea though (or some other previous ones ;-;), but sounds interesting enough :^

So I've been having this story idea (I've posted about it before here), and well, while it's not my usual fare (it's not an AU of a pre-existing franchise) I'm... pretty fond of it! So here's what it's about:
This story has its protagonist isekai'd twice
The protagonist, who I'll call [redacted] for now even though they have a name because I haven't decided if it should be their birth name, is a kid on the cusp of their teenage years, and they pretty much had a normal life except that they don't have a mom (she upped and left) and their father isn't rich.
One day, they find themselves in a cold lab-like place, somewhere that looks suspiciously like a sci-fi spaceship from an anime or something.
That's exactly where they are.
Except
The sci-fi world, this world with interstellar travel and fucking mechs has this Arthurian-inspired thing going on
And they've just become “Mordred”
[Redacted] is understandably freaked out by this and wants to go home
Only, they can't
They have a new mother now, and Morgana has Plans for them
The mechs in the Arthurian-inspired world probably have different grading based on mythological beasts or smth, and dragon mechs are both the rarest and only a select few with “dragon blood” are able to pilot them, so the Pendragons basically? There might've been other dragonblood bloodlines in the past but they're dead now, dead at Uther and Arthur's hands.
And uh, the dragon mech that [redacted] pilots is... a little special
Bc the dragons put so much strain on the pilots (or “riders/dragonriders” as they might be called in that world) on energy consumption in exchange for bigger firepower, rare powers, etc, dragonriders unfortunately tend to die quick save for a few who have extensive support and/or a hugeass powerful mana core
So the mech [redacted]'s piloting, it's... one of the more energy-intensive ones specifically crafted by Morgana's faction to be extra destructive
And yet [redacted] is not terribly affected by it— they still are but not to the extent they should have, and it's because...
*drumroll*
THERE WAS A REAL MORDRED BEFORE [REDACTED] WAS ISEKAI'D
Morgana and Arthur's child, the previous rider of this particular dragon (I need to name that mech)
Who started piloting this thing when they were still a tiny little kid and then DIED bc of the strain and Morgana took their dying soul and FUSED IT WITH THE MECH'S AI OR SMTH (the specifics are still ??? but basically the Mordred is now the dragon's “soul” so to speak)
And so... Yeah. Mordred is taking up the strain that [redacted] would be dealt w full force normally, also probably helping [redacted] sense foes from all directions as if the dragonrider has four eyes instead of two or something like that
They share some sort of bond, too
People outside of Morgana's close circle (or just Morgana alone, period bc knowing her she probably trusts no one) don't know [Redacted] and Mordred aren't the same kid, remember how I said Mordred started piloting the thing awfully young? They probs faced some enemy that survived and developed a hate boner for them, like “I will be the one to kill you in a fateful battle” and then that opponent would realize one day, facing off against [redacted], that whoever's piloting the red dragon now... isn't the dragonrider they faced in the past just as they're about to die
[Redacted] also had a different hair color from Mordred, but due to Morgana's severe “training” and procedures which basically are magic surgeries, their hair and eye color slowly “corrupted” into OG Mordred's colour (like Matou Sakura!)
[Redacted] might've actually been isekai'd for the purpose of replacing OG Mordred— it's something along the lines of “the essence of the soul being shared by different people in different worlds” thing going on, so smth like... somehow, they have the same or similar base blueprint of their souls? Their personalities are quite different, though. At least at first.
[Redacted] was softer and meeker and more anxious than Mordred, at least at first. Mordred had a much more... hm, how do I put it, aggressive and assertive front
Though later on [redacted] starts to cope by baring their teeth and being rather feral, but they don't really talk as much as Mordred did. Mordred tried to chase away the dark corners of their life by being twice as bright, but [redacted]... is just tired. They have a lot if quiet moments.
So when Mordred died, [redacted] was summoned to fill the void because they're counterparts
Morgana's deal is “We need a powerful dragonblood on our side to combat that damned Arthur” (two factions warring, there's grudges and bloodshed and vengeance involved) and the other dragonbloods are probably dead at Camelot's hands so she needed to get one and... out popped Mordred from... y'know how it goes, she had them with Arthur
She probably originally intended to have two kids (one to pilot the red dragon first and then fuse with it to absorb the brunt of the burden of the next pilot aka their twin or sibling) but somehow only Mordred was produced and... yikedy yikes the universe provided her with the missing piece
Morgana's attitude was probably something along the lines of... she had this kid for the sole purpose of molding them into a perfect soldier to counter Arthur bc her faction needs an edge lest they die, so she feels like she mustn't feel any deep bond or attraction beyond commander and soldier, though on some level, she does feel sorry for what she's putting the kid through but she buried it away and rationalizes it as “it's necessary”
[Redacted] is just going around screaming at ppl to look at them, look at their suffering and not ignore it, and just like how Mordred followed Morgana around like a duckling starved of praise or anything
They eventually falls into the same dynamic with Merlin once they defect to the Camelot side— Merlin... I don't know much about him yet but he too very much doesn't really recognize their pain, in a way he took them for granted
And then
Arthur orders or does smth that makes [redacted] go “???? wtf you can't just DO that” and made them defect to form their own faction with an army they raised
The next part is garbled up in my brain but everything goes up in flames basically
Guinevere actually was one of the people who defected to [redacted]'s side
She got killed for it
And like in one certain version of the myth, [redacted] gets buried alive w her corpse and... some of you might know what happens next.
Anyways
Unclear whether they died or smth but
They isekai again
They will find who I've temporarily decided to name Masaki, their eventual love interest.
Masaki took One (1) look at this person and went “yeah I don't know what they went through but that's a traumatized person alright” and pretty much becomes one of the only two people to look [redacted] in the eye and face their pain instead of ignoring it or trying to gaslight them into thinking it isn't real and they're just overreacting
Masaki is a kyudo archer, this new world has... eh, I haven't ironed it out but has countryside vibes
They stumbling around in the rain, lost after just arriving in this new place, it's night, the air is crisp and clean and fresh (it's not on fire) (they're out they're out they're out they're out!!!) and then they hear the sound of an arrow being released from the bow, a beautiful sound, and so they couldn't help but chase after the sound
And then they arrive at the scene to Witness the lone archer in the moonlight after the rain stops, and hhhh when Masaki spots them he basically says “Come here, you sad wet little cat. You'll catch a cold.”
When he asks for their name while providing a change of clothes, they just frantically repeat “ 'm not Mordred” like a broken record while shaking a lot (they've lost their original name by this point, they try so hard but they can't remember anymore) and Masaki just... accepts that. “Okay. You're not Mordred. Do you know who you are?” and when [redacted] shakes their head he just reassures them that hey, they'll either find it again or build a new identity that's not “Mordred”, an identity that causes them pain. He calls them little cat in the meanwhile.
They either recall their name (unlikely) or obtains a new name, chosen by themselves with Masaki's help. Akito.
This part of the story doesn't have war or battles, but instead follows Akito struggling to re-adjust to a world that's kinda sorta like their original world, one untouched by the Horrors they just went through.
They can never go home. Even if they went back to their old world, they will never belong again.
It's been years since they were isekai'd the first time around. They got into their twenties there.
They're too intense. Too traumatizing. Too alien. Too destructive. Too wild.
So yeah.
As much as it hurts, they know they can't go home. There's no home for the likes of them.
They love Masaki a lot, though. Maybe too much.
From the onset they only have eyes for Masaki, and their uh, desire, for him, it's not exactly subtle
But Masaki, being the mad lad that he is, fucking eggs them on
Compared to the other suitors who chase him to claim his family lands or shrine or smth else pertaining his claim over smth, he thinks Akito's desire for him and him alone and nothing else is... almost pure and innocent
They both say the wildest shit ever to each other, shit that'd make other people faint
Also, Masaki is a trans dude
Inspired by these posts as well: 1 2
Many thanks to my friend @sanhatipal for helping me iron out some details!

You should not have asked for cursed ideas because i have a bunch of them to share and curse people with
But the craziest of all of them, I need to say, is that, one day, for no reason at all, i said "what if sans and jevil were twins?"
And oh boy, (this is a damm rollercoaster im already warning u), i didn't stop there
I imagined half of this before chapter 2, and then i updated it after. Im going to say only the uptaded version
So, Sans (also Sans' name is "Boone" u need to know) and Jevil are twins, but Papyrus is gaster nephew. Also, gaster is actually "Aster" and his brother (papyrus' dad) is Wingdings, both of them are scientists, but WD is more important. Papyrus also has a twin whose name is ACTUALLY Sans. Papyrus family is made of humans, papyrus is a human, and he is from a universe called "unrelated" where monster and humans had a battle, but it end up in peace. One day WD invents a machine to travel between universes but he ends up dying in the experiments. Aster cries bc his brother is dead but improves the machine and travels to undertale world. Sadly, his body gets deformed, so monsters from ut cant tell he isnt one of them (this is before asriel is born). He comes back to his universe finally feeling he can be smth more than his brother shadow. Dont ask me how bc i didnt think that much but he becames he royal scientist using the name of his brother (wingdings gaster) while also working in having a new body in his own univers (oh yeah he also plans to make undyne the "great warrior" and injects determination on her eyes bc he belivee she is the only one who can survive bc she is already determined, she does, but the injected dt is now dormant inside of her body)
Evently he opens a portal to deltarune too, and learns about dark worlds. He is kind of going insane now and he meets with the titans (for reasons) who reveal that his world is a videogame and his existence doesnt matter. He makes some deals and he has powers now bam
He enters in contact with seven manlets (three being jevil, spamton and sans who is called boone) to make a new body later and also destroy his own universe (the gasters followers would be the versions of that world of the monsters we already know that have been destroyed) and idk makes holes in his nephews hands (like jesus himself) bc he didnt want to be alone with the holes then he jumps in the core and papyrus and sans try to escape his new followers by going through the machine and end up in the deltarune world, but they fall into a dark fountain somewhere and die, but like, not totally
They end up being selfaware amalgams that can shape shift lololol they meet BooneSans and Jevil who are kind of not fine at this point, and both trust in gaster, so papyrus and his twin tell them that gaster is actually not that trustful and will not give them freedom and they believe for some reason
Papyrus and twinSans decide they need to separate or else gaster is gonna take their undead corpse (did i mention they are kind of immortal now?), so the four of them make a plan
TwinSans gives BooneSans their soul (they can survive without it now), so he can swap places with them and go to the light world, but the game would crash if they stayed with the same names so they swapped names too
Sans (the skeleton one) makes a copy of the machine and they go to the light world pretending to be brothers bc papyrus shapeshift to a skeleton... Or so they thought. Sans didn't build it correctly and they end up in undertale world trapped :))
But like, the universes had a half reset bc the codes were too confused, so sans and papyrus notice they startes forgetting about their twins and the same goes to Jevil and Boone, so papyrus draws the "don't forget" thing and boone sings that one music yknow
Sans tries to talk to alphys (bc she is the scientist who replaced gaster she has to be good) so she can help him... But she isnt in the best conditions bc she just created flowey and the amalgamates- anyways they both fail but now gaster has alphys in his aim bc she is a WONDERFUL PIECE in his words or smth
Oh yeah also jevil fights wit spamton, they divorce, jevil is so sad that he doesn't notice gaster took papyrus twin and they die :( jevil eventually forgets about them, goes totally crazy, and then is locked up
Now we are in the same point of time in the games and papyrus is incapable of sleeping bc hes dead bam bam
But why would gaster want seven manlets? Well, i said it before, he wants to make a new body. After jumping in the core, hes shattered, and he gives a piece of him to each one of the manlets to eat. Eventually they will melt with only one body part left, he will take all of the body parts, make a new body, "enter" inside of it and ascends to [[HEAVEN]] (he will became god). He is obsessed with this bc the titans told him about us (the player) and he wants to be like us, he is putting the player in all of this adventures so WE can have fun
He is manipulating kris bc they are also under their brother, asriel, shadow so they can understand each other somehow idk
When you do a genocide route sans actually doesn't die bc you hit a ketchuo inside of him and he takes papyrus who also can't die and both go and, with the energy the player has provided, make the machine work and go to deltarune find their twins that they almost forgot about
AND THEN DELTARUNE STARTS
Well, is an idea i like to make more and more nonsensical and illogical with time, bc it doesn't have any base on canon. I swear im not like this most of the times
Anyways, am i the ask from your dream?
Tumblr media
[Image description: A two panel comic showing a Tumblr Anonymous talking from their car to a fast food employee. In the first panel, the Tumblr Anon is speaking, their speech bubble extending to he top of the screen, implying that the text from the ask is what the character is saying. In the second panel the fast food employee holds a couple of plastic cups and is staring at the anon in shock. End of ID.]

What are your thoughts on Jon-Bran-Tyrion & their relationship in TWoW & ADoS?
I have read that in GRRM original-idea [?] Jon was to rival Tyrion [because of their love over Arya] as well as Bran for the sake of Northern Power [& Arya apparently too, but not in the same sense??]
[No idea what Bran & Tyrion's relationship was suppose to/could look like, don't think GRRM has mention smth]
That being said, I can get behind Tyrion vs Jon, alright. But Jon vs Bran? How is that suppose to look like/work?
Even if we ignore that they think of each other fondly & miss each other, and that I don't see a reason why this would change all of a sudden... Or that Jon will likely gain the support of the North in TWoW, since he rather fit the "perfect image of an Lord", since he is a able-bodied, traditional [swords-] man, grown & proven as Leader/Lord Commander, has the same education as Robb did, is the eldest Son of Eddard, etc....
[Although I guess Lords like Manderly could prefer Rickon, so they can grap power as his custodian/regents? And the whole being-dead-but-not-anymore-&-what-about-the-oaths thing could be a little tricky & stuff😅] while Bran will likely remain longer behind the Wall, won't be able to rally allies & bannermen [Althouse I have read the speculation of Bran, The Blizzard and The Battle of Ice, my main concern is again the pacing:where Bran's plot seems on overdrive, while Jon's & all those around & in Winterfell are on hold in order for Bran to come back. It's the same problem for me with all those "speculations" about Dany & arriving way to early in Westeros] ...
But the thing that makes it so unbelievable for me is: the fricking age gap?! Put aside their feelings for each other, who is more likely to gain poltical support & all of that, Bran will be like 11 & Jon 18-19? Like... a rivalry between a elementary school student & a high school graduate? 😂🙊
I think for certain that there will be some kind of conflict between Jon and Tyrion. Them shaking hands on the Wall and calling each other friends is foreshadowing a friends to enemies arc, IMO.
As for Jon and Bran, it's hard to see this happening, but I am not ruling out the possibility - meaning that I won't be surprised if it happens. As you mentioned, a Jon/Bran rivalry/bitter estrangement was one of the major parts of the story in the original outline.
By the end of A Game of Thrones,------------------------------------- ---------------------------------g--------------- onto the iron throne with a bit----------------premature death, Bran sits free.--Yet his seat is hardly a comfortable one. In the North, Jon Snow is his bitter enemy. Beyond the narrow sea, Daenerys Stormborn prepares her invasion and on the far side of the Wall, the others are watching with cold dead eyes and gathering their strength.
Can this still happen? I think so. I have always said that GRRM likes his themes of dysfunctional families, conflict among family members and the human heart in conflict with itself and again, I don't see why the Starks should be the exception.
But I think it is a mistake to generalize about “the Westerlings,”  just as it would be to generalize about “the Lannisters.” Members of the same family have very different characters, desires, and ways of   looking at the world… and there are secrets within families as well.
GRRM SSM, May 01, 2001
The reason Sansa even exists as a character in the first place is because he wanted family conflict among the Starks.
Arya was one of the first characters created. Sansa came about as a total opposite b/c too many of the Stark family members were getting along and families aren’t like that.
Why would Jon and Bran have a rivalry? That I cannot speculate on, yet. We still have a lot of story to cover. But in the next book, my speculation is that both Jon and Bran would have changed a lot.
Bran is the current Lord of Winterfell/Heir to the North/Robb's Heir and King in the North. Robb's decree legitimizing Jon Stark could be a possible issue between them.
GRRM has said that death and resurrection changes a person and Jon is going to be spending time in a wolf. A resurrected Jon Snow coming back more wolfish and more hungry. Remember this?
He wanted it, Jon knew then. He wanted it as much as he had ever wanted anything. I have always wanted it, he thought, guiltily. May the gods forgive me. It was a hunger inside him, sharp as a dragonglass blade. A hunger … he could feel it. It was food he needed, prey, a red deer that stank of fear or a great elk proud and defiant. He needed to kill and fill his belly with fresh meat and hot dark blood. His mouth began to water with the thought. - Jon, ASoS
GRRM ties in his desire for Winterfell to a deep hunger that then connects to Ghost - his hunger for Winterfell intermingling with Ghost's hunger...
Remember the kings in the North of yore, like Ice Eyes. I doubt Jon Stark is going to hold back much. He's going to be doing some really messed up stuff.
Meanwhile, Bran's heavily involved in the magical stuff beyond the wall. Has connections to Bloodraven, the Children of the forest, can influence timelines (Hodor), unearth past truths and will be one of the most powerful greenseers. Blood sacrifice and human sacrifice is a big part of the dark magic of the north. Maybe they fight over how to defeat the Others? I think Bran's connection to the children of the forest is how they win again this time around - and his relationship with Jon suffers because of that?
Bran ends up King on the Iron Throne and Jon Snow ends up in the lands beyond the wall - just the opposite of what we would expect for these two characters considering where they are now and what we know of them (R+L=J) etc. How does this happen?
Anyways, according to GRRM, TWoW is a very dark book and if there is a Jon-Bran rivalry, we may see the seeds of it being planted in this book.
There are a lot of dark chapters right now in the book that I’m writing,” he said during a Q&A at the Guadalajara International Book Fair, according to Entertainment Weekly. “It is called The Winds of Winter, and I’ve been telling you for 20 years that winter was coming. Winter is the time when things die, and cold and ice and darkness fill the world, so this is not going to be the happy feel-good that people may be hoping for. Some of the characters [are] in very dark places.”
This is why I find all the Dark!Dany stuff slightly hilarious. Is Dany going to do things that go against the Geneva conventions (lol) in the next book? Yeah, I think so. She is going to come back from her sojourn at Vaes Dothrak and be like I have had it with these effing slavers and go all Aegon the Conqueror on them (About time I say, she should have done it a while ago). But I am pretty damn sure most of our characters are going to become darker in the next book. Tyrion is already on a downward spiral, Jon will surely go on a rampage against the Boltons, Bran most probably eating Jojen paste over there and learning dark magic, getting taught by Bloodraven, Sansa participating in the slow poisoning of her little cousin in the Vale and have you read Arya's Mercy chapter? That stuff is dark.
As for the rest, I think we should ignore the age gap like GRRM is planning on doing ( GRRM sees his young people as adults anyway - "Arya has the experiences of a 40 year old, If a 12 year old has to conquer the world then so be it" etc.) and I do think he will include some time gaps in the next two books allowing for travel etc. I am pretty sure Arya will end the books at 14.
Bran, Dany and Arya's plots have to be in overdrive in the next book out of necessity. Bran has to advance a lot in his plot, be used to build up the Others as a big threat, give us more info about the Children, Bloodraven, what is actually happening, Hodor etc. - there's just so much stuff here that GRRM has to write. Same with Dany. Dany has to wind up in Meereen, land in Westeros and start her campaign. Same with Arya. I think that's why they will get the most chapters, and time in the next book.

What do you think Jade Lalonde, Rose Harley, and Dave Egbert would be like? I've already seen some analysis on John Strider so i don't wanna force you into rehasing anything ^^;
Jade Lalonde, my girl Jade raised by a Permissive parent, probably wouldn’t look toooooooo terribly different from canon Jade. Her interests are well financed, and she’s a good self-motivator, which is probably good because showing off her achievements to a drunken parent isn’t going to get the same response as a coherent parent. Of course, Mom is super proud of her brilliant daughter, and of COURSE she loves her super duper dearly and thinks Jade is the most intelligent girl alive, but it can get a little frustrating for Jade to explain her interests, and then ten minutes later realize her mom hasn’t retained a word. This Jade’s gonna be more acclimated to frustration and broken expectations, which is gonna manifest itself in two ways. She’s not gonna respond much at all when she’s disappointed, sometimes by really major things that she SHOULD get pissed off about, or she’s going to blow the fuck up over seemingly minor shit that most people would be able to brush off. But it’s more about the principle of the thing than the actual expectation that got broken, y’know? Probably gonna be sneakier than canon Jade, able to manipulate the situation to get her mom to actually DO stuff she needs her to, whether that be through passive aggression or batting her eyelids or setting up a situation so her mom “conveniently” will be reminded of certain things, and that’s gonna carry over into her other relationships as well, entirely unintentionally at first, that’s just sorta how she’s used to operating. Her role, then, as the Witch of Light, combined with that naturally honed ability to manipulate the situation with intelligence and a calculated amount of luck, is going to be one that comes naturally to her, and she’s going to be a HELLRAISER. She’s going to be UNPARALLELED. There will be no imp nor ogre nor time travelling demon who spits destruction from his maw that will be able to stand against her. She’s here, she’s brilliant, and she and her friends will be catching no unlucky breaks because she is the one whose will Luck bends to.
Rose Harley, raised by a dog and some chess people, alone on an island. Probably gets pretty entrenched in her know it all bossy phase pretty quick, but is less sure of herself. Doesn’t get a lot of positive feedback aside from her dog and some chess people who she’s pretty sure she’s smarter than, but that makes human interaction even harder for her, and she’s never really been good at interpersonal stuff to begin with. Lots of false confidence, I think, but suffers from impostor syndrome pretty badly. She WANTS to belong in the group, she really really wants to be involved and included and someone who BELONGS there, but can’t shake the nagging feeling that everyone else is a regular human being and she’s. Weird. And not in a good way. Gonna be more anxious than her canon counterpart, I think. Her favorite books she’s read 1000 times over and she’s got SUPER in-depth thoughts and analysis for the stuff she takes interest in, a very very brilliant girl who is never sure when “sharing” becomes “oversharing” and when “odd in a fun way” becomes “Rose that’s creepy.” Her role as the Seer of Space goes along well with being awake on Prospit prior to the Game even starting, as she has dealt with visions of the future all her life. Unfortunately, since space is all-encompassing, she’s not seeing what is fortuitous, or what WILL happen, or even what SHOULD happen, she’s seeing what happens in pretty much any timeline anywhere and it’s her task to sit down, think about what she’s Seen, and parse together whether they should or shouldn’t take that path. Her honed analytical skills will be pushed to their limits and brought to task over and over again, but through her smarts and what she has Foreseen, she is able to direct their group and conduct them in such a way that the new universe is spawned and they are able to win. The fact that she is SO CRUCIAL to their success helps her feel more like part of the group, but presents a NEW problem of wondering if maybe now they’re just pretending to be interested in her for her abilities. Her big hurdle is allowing herself to see that she is loved and wanted, and she truly does belong with them.
Dave Egbert is a kinda nerdy dude, he takes his camera with him everywhere and is always taking selfies or posting stuff to his instagram and did you hear? I heard someone say he has a collection of like, roadkill or something. Dave absolutely has a collection of dead shit. Also cicada shells that show up on the trees and bushes, because hey man cicada shells are cool. He’s super into his dumb nerd shit like video games and even reads that dumb gamebro magazine that he damn well KNOWS is dumb but he likes it and he’s not embarrassed about his interests! He knows the stuff he likes isn’t cool and doesn’t try to pass it off as cool, he just enjoys himself and fuck the haters. He ADORES his dad, was definitely one of those kids that began crying the MOMENT his dad dropped him off at daycare or smth, very attached but also complains about him sometimes, because kids complain about their parents, especially since Dad Egbert is the type of dude to walk up in front of his kid’s friends and use the embarrassing toddler nicknames like “sport” or “squirt” or smth and Dave’s friends are like “lmao your dad actually calls you ‘sport’ I thought that only happened in movies” and Dad also has like, a wallet full of Dave’s pictures and Dave is just like “daaaaaad” but also heck yes he was an ADORABLE baby so he sorta thrives off the attention. Has the biggest, dumbest crush on John imaginable. Dad found out Dave was queer not because Dave came out, but because Dave is just SO OBVIOUS about his stupid giant big dumb crush on John and Dad just sorta… quietly accepted this about his son and tries to be a good parent however he can. He’s not the most well-educated about queer stuff but he always tries his best to be respectful and that goes doubly now that he knows his kid isn’t straight. Dave having a supportive parent is a very good concept and one I am wholly behind in literally every way. His role as Knight of Breath is the defender of freedom, which probably means he must first liberate his consorts from his denizen, and then has to go a step further to protect his friends, probably from their own neuroses. Jade thinks she has to leap through all these mental hoops, but she doesn’t, Rose thinks she has to PROVE her worth, that she’s valuable, but Dave would love his sister even if she couldn’t do anything for them, John has been trapped in this toxically masculine, angry place for years and Dave can help him out of there, help him find peace and acceptance even within himself, Dave can pry back the dark gunk that’s been coating John’s soul and let him breathe freely, possibly for the first time in his life.
John Strider, we’ve touched on so I’ll just go over briefly here, but I like to keep these asks done in sets and now that I’ve set a pattern I’m not breaking it. John would end up one of those nasty, nasty, angry bullies. Bro is toxic, abusive, hypermasculine, and unpredictable, which means John winds up angry, lashing out, and hypermasculine as well. He goes way too far, way too often, and doesn’t apologize, total jock stereotype from oldtimey movies and shit, strong and athletic and attractive and just plain mean. Acts like he’s hot shit because whenever he’s at home he’s painfully reminded that he is small, and weak, and can’t actually do anything. Dave is his bro and he likes him plenty but he makes a lot of mean spirited gay jokes to start, probably as a cover for his own identity crisis that he has buried so deep deep down inside him you’re gonna need a shovel to unbury that shit, and is oblivious to Dave’s crush on him. Has a soft spot for Jade, who is kinda the only person who can get John to talk about his feelings frankly and honestly, and probably has a crush on Rose because he thinks that that’s what he’s supposed to do. She’s a girl, she’s his friend, that’s how heterosexuality works, right? His role as Heir of Time, I’m afraid, would be a deeply unpleasant one. What would likely happen is he directs the alpha timeline by having his offshoot timeline selves merge with his alpha self, like what Rose did from Davesprite’s timeline back in canon. But instead of just, like, ONE offshoot timeline self merging with the whole, it’s every single dead John. Every single time his friends die, he dies, every time something goes wrong, he gets to Experience that. He gets to have those memories seared into his brain, one with himself, one with every timeline that has ever existed, and it only further cements his belief that life is cruel, and uncaring, and doesn’t give a single solitary shit about him, or his loved ones, because he does love them. He’s broken inside, all warped and twisted wrong, but he does love them. It is only, and I do mean ONLY, once he and Dave manage to have their heart-to-heart, once John allows Dave in, that John is able to slowly pry out of the dark and hurting place that has stifled his soul for so long. Not to be stupidly, ridiculously cliche, but it is love that frees him, and the love between the two of them that helps him heal. John Strider and Dave Egbert would be a nigh-inevitable otp like that’s just the way this AU would work out my dudes.
*sticks m leggy out* I love getting long winded and these are fun, please share your thoughts with me my dudes.
