cicadas sing their melodies,
homebound echoes in the night.
campfires lit under the trees,
conversations carrying with simple ease.
the memories we shared,
smelling the honeysuckles
at the park with no cares.
Would you still play with my care bears?
Where did the time go?
I swear I'm not ready.
We were just sledding in the snow,
Making jokes about our goals.
I promise I didn't take the moments for granted.
but if there was anything I could do,
I would go back to when time was unscattered.
Back when every meaning had a pattern.
I want to go back;
To being silly, climbing up slides backwards.
I wish life didn't move so fast.
So many things are out of my grasp.
Please just tell me it'll be okay.
Run your fingers through my tear-soaked hair.
Because right now, I'm not so sure either way.
The static in my brain takes up every day.
All of these people around truly care.
But nothing can heal the parts
Beyond repair.
Stop giving me a scare.
We know it'll be okay.
Take a deep breath,
And remember that each day
Is a brand new memory to be made.
The stories made us into ourselves,
The strong warriors flying tomorrow,
Packed into the storybooks on our shelves.
That's why we live to come across new farewells.

the feeling is flowing in doses,
as if you're medicine for my soul
my hands feel numb as we stroll
your gaze is soil for my cheeks blooming roses
seeing you happy makes my heart flutter,
and i'm nervous to interfere
seeing you sad makes my heart smear
how do your expressions make my brain stutter?
thoughts getting trapped in the stairwell
odd feeling that i didn't want to return
the last time i felt this way, i got hurt
i want it to be right this time.
but i don't know how you feel.
exploring with you heals my inner child
and studying together takes us miles
i hope you feel our bond is real.
you make me want to be better,
know more, see everything
