Hi, sorry to bother you, I'm new in this fandom and I feel like you're kind of a big figure in here, so I wanted to know if you read fanfics and, if so, if you had any rec for me? I can't say I like the usual take on Chuuya or Dazai or their relationship in most fanfictions, making of Dazai an emotionless bully and Chuuya an angry spazz with anger management issues and absolutely no brains.
Your takes on the character seems to me closer to actual canon, and so I figured you'd probably know of fics I would actually enjoy.
(If you do, then to be more specific, I'd rather avoid fics with no powers/modern aus and if explicit, then no bottom chuuya, please? For some reasons, bottom Chuuya writers always make him to be some dainty little princess and Dazai a daddy dom which is. Hilarious. Holy fuck.
Hi!! Damn i get ur problem 😭😭 I don't read fanfics regularly exactly because i cant find things that would be close to my perception of their relationship,, even if, i read mostly oneshots
Im picky af,,
Tbh i don't really remember many fics, but for some reason i have saved a bunch of them by halfbloom (diphylleias) so i would only guess my past (months ago) self thought the writer was good real good. I dont remember most of these, but i must say i regulary reread one of their fics, "Castles out of couches" (this is a oneshot consisting of??? A lot of very short stories about skk living together) (im a sucker for domestic skk that r still silly and bickering for fun) (and this fanfic is exactly that) (instead of suddenly very cutesy and petnames using couple that some ppl write) (castles out of couches makes me giggle like a teenage girl) (i drew some old arts based on this one, even)
So i would start from there and then check other halfbloom works with tags u r interested in! (I obv skipped what i didn't wanna read right) (tho i think they mostly write skk talking things thru, which is cool)) (there may be nsfw in some ig?? But it's bearable amounts + none of that annoying uwu chuuya daddy dazai)

Skk Brainrot for Dazai’s BDay
💌 A Walk in Each Other's Shoes: Chapter 1  💌
Summary:  “They’ve been like this since returning from their mission following up with the defection of several gifted members. From what Chuuya or rather “Dazai” said a new organization was behind said defections, Sonrisa, created a machine to essentially “steal” abilities-” Chuuya dropped from the ceiling in front of Hirotsu finishing the report “But it didn’t work how they originally designed it and now me and Chuuya switched bodies!” his smile was wide, almost creepily so. Chuuya doesn’t smile often and especially not like that. Without a doubt, it was Dazai in Chuuya's body.
Notes:  The bodyswap AU no one asked for, Happy Birthday to our boi Dazai I gift you with emotions, I wanted to play with the hc that “No Longer Human” nullifies more than abilities

Mori was pinching the bridge of his nose slowly garnering a headache watching the two most competent executives banter with each other in their usual manner. The only caveat was it seemed like their personalities were switched around a bit. The most notable difference was hearing Dazai swear. In all the years Mori observed the brunette he doesn’t think he’s ever heard half of those words leave the other’s mouth until today. “I’ll ask one more time. How exactly did this happen?”
The scene playing in front of Mori was interesting but bizarre. Hirotsu cleared his throat as the two teens focused their attention elsewhere. Dazai was lying on the floor staring at the ceiling while Chuuya was dancing around the room barely floating  above Dazai’s line of sight. Chuuya was laughing in a way that sounded light and enthusiastic while his counterpart sounded more exhausted and frustrated than usual. He doesn’t think he’s ever heard the redhead laugh either.
“They’ve been like this since returning from their mission following up with the defection of several gifted members. Without a doubt, it was Dazai in Chuuya’s body.
“I see,” Mori paused, taking in the situation they were in. “And what of this machine? Where is it now?”
“Our researchers are looking into fixing it but it will take some time because somebody smashed it to pieces, a little late I might add. Five seconds earlier and we could have avoided this.” The redhead, currently Dazai, was floating lazily like he was in a pool when Dazai’s original body got up from the floor to lightly touch him causing him to fall to the ground with a pained groan.
Chuuya rolled his eyes “Well maybe if you were five seconds faster at getting out of my way I wouldn't be in your shitty body! Now everything feels numb. I can't take it.” his usual explosive anger that caused the room to shake was now only as loud as Dazai’s diaphragm allowed.
Mori’s eyebrows raise seeing the exchange as “Dazai’s” head tilts to the side “I might actually kill the bastard if this goes on for much longer.” From behind “Chuuya” playfully jumps onto “Dazai’s” back, the brunette doesn't move to push him off. He only frowns accepting his fate.
“Awwww come on Chuuya, isn’t this great we get to see what it’s like in the other person’s shoes for a while!” The redhead’s snarky expression melts into contentment as he nuzzles into his own former body. “Everything feels so warm and light in Chuuya’s body. I don't understand why you’re so angry all the time.” The real Chuuya in Dazai’s body pulls the other over his shoulder and throws him on the floor extracting another set of pained groans. “I’m angry because you’re a constant pain in my ass!”
Mori rubbed his temples “Send a group to the facility and try to track down any surviving members of Sonrisa. Chuuya, I want you to teach Dazai how to use your ability before you both join the investigation. I don’t want him accidentally slipping into corruption or causing general chaos. I trust with Dazai’s ability you can keep him underwraps so for the time being you two are not to leave each other’s side. Do you understand?”
Reluctantly they both respond “Understood.” Dazai was as bubbly as ever, dragging Chuuya by the arm. In the other’s body he finally felt everything that it meant to be human. Normally he would have to pretend. For Dazai, “No Longer Human” nullified more than just other people’s abilities. It was like it nullified everything that it meant to be human, emotions, sensations, even his receptors that regulated his fatigue and hunger. With Chuuya’s body he felt it all. All the books he read on human emotions finally made sense. He no longer felt numb to everything and more importantly he didn’t want to die anymore, not when it feels this good. He gave Chuuya’s cold hand a squeeze. Watching the other zone out gave him a heavy and sharp pang in his chest. It made him stop in his tracks. While he looked at his partner he finally understood why Chuuya called him mackerel. His eyes were dead inside.
Chuuya was also having revelations of his own as he let Dazai lead him around headquarters. Despite the gloves Chuuya dawned on his hands he could still feel the warmth that it brought, holding Dazai’s cold and bandaged one. He felt empty like a void. On one hand Chuuya can feel himself think more clearly, more than he’s ever been in his entire life but everything else seems so muted. Even the colors around him have seemed to lose their saturation. The only things that have stayed the same intensity, that he remembers, is his own hair and eyes. The Orange and blue were the same but against this new muted world they were very striking to look at. When Dazai stopped walking Chuuya was too lost in thought to notice he was staring into his own face. He watched it shift uncomfortably. It was weird, the memory from a year ago back at the lab rose to the surface but he didn’t feel the strong emotions that were often tied to that memory of facing his possible clone. It was more like someone plucked a single note instead of sustaining it. The haunting echo of the abyss was more frightening than the unshakable memory that had kept him up at night for days. He didn’t like it, he felt like he was drowning in emptiness and he didn’t understand it at all. Was this how Dazai felt all the time?
Without realizing Dazai felt the need to reach out but before he could touch Chuuya’s shoulder, he quickly retracted his hand jumping back a step, also letting go of his hand in the process. What was he about to do just now? They don’t have that kind of relationship. They don’t share physical affection or show comfort in that way. Dazai only ever hugged Oda and Ango, and he only hugged Ango as punishment. Yet standing so close to his former body he almost craved it, he felt guilty, embarrassed and above all else extremely annoyed. With himself or Chuuya he had no idea. These sensations were too new for him to think clearly. Memories of the past kept flooding his mind recounting everytime Dazai had ever touched Chuuya only now he can feel the blistering heat on his cheeks. He hated this but unlike Chuuya who was currently wallowing in his own self despair Dazai felt the need to voice it.
“Oh my god Chibi your body is infuriating! How do you live like this?”
“How do I live like this! How do you live like this?! No wonder you always blabber nonsense, the silence is so deafening I want to throw myself out a window just to feel something!”
Dazai’s eyes lit up. That was a great idea, he had yet to fully make use of the redhead's stupid ability. The moment he shifted his body trying to activate his ability Chuuya grabbed his wrist tightly pulling him in using his new extra inches to tower over the other pinning him to the wall “Oh no you fucken don’t! I’m not letting you throw my body out a window. Neither of us are going to die until we switch back and then I’m killing you myself!”
Dazai would normally have a quick witted retort but he couldn’t hear himself think with the way his heart was beating. Chuuya as always was oblivious to the proximity he now placed them in. If he wasn’t currently in a state of panic he would laugh at the fact that the slug’s body was flustered at something so simple like being pressed up against the wall, but he was too busy coming to terms that these are his emotions. He was flustered and Dazai was never flustered. It was getting hard to breath, the shock must be showing on his face because Chuuya was looking back at him with concern.
“Oi, Dazai breath.” Chuuya let go of his wrist instead gently grabbing his shoulders. Dazai looked like he was going to keel over any minute if he let go. Dazai didn't like this any better if either of them were to lean in, they would kiss. His thoughts stopped dead in his tracks as he pushed Chuuya off.
"I was just a little overwhelmed. Calm down, I'm not used to having emotions, especially not with how your body regulates them. It's a mess in your head. It's no wonder you're a slow slug." He tried to brush off the gross feeling of wanting Chuuya to close the gap. If there was one thing Dazai was good at it was lying but now his body couldn't hide its natural reactions. Sometimes Chuuya's obliviousness was a good thing.
Was his face red? Chuuya was having a hard time seeing the color of his cheeks. Strands of his hair were obscuring his vision on top of his other eye being covered in bandages. Now that he thought about it he should just take them off. They were itchy and uncomfortable but beside the point Chuuya assumed Dazai was flustered because he just experienced a small panic attack. This was one of the very rare occasions that he could finally have one up on the mackerel and tease him to no end about it but he decided not to. He really wanted too but after being in the other’s body for more than twenty minutes he’ll let this one go. Ultimately Chuuya didn’t want to start something he couldn’t finish especially when they had no idea how long they were going to be like this for. He sighed, putting his hands behind his head. “You’re gonna have to learn to keep your cool now that you’re in my body otherwise it could be bad news for both of us.” Dazai didn’t say anything as they made their way to the training grounds.
Dazai wasn’t half bad but it wasn’t as fluid as Chuuya using his ability. There were a lot of on the fly calculations he ran through his head that he doubts anyone else could grasp without the many years of practice he's had. But Dazai was getting better at activating it so that's a plus. He was still having trouble with multiple targets and bigger objects that weren't his own body but it was better than Chuuya expected. Hopefully by the end of this training session he wouldn't have to worry about getting shot because the latter couldn’t stop the bullets in time.
When they decided to be done for the day they realized they were stuck together. Dazai had tried to persuade Chuuya that they should stay at his shipping container but Chuuya rolled his eyes. After grabbing something to eat they made it to the redhead’s apartment. It wasn’t the first time Dazai had been to the other's place but it was the first time he was invited in willingly. Normally he'd have to pick the lock because Chuuya refused to let him in when he saw who was at the door. It was a pretty spacious place for someone who lives alone.
"I should have something that you coul-" Chuuya started but stopped immediately. "Actually forget it. You can bathe first. I have to find clothes that hopefully fit your lanky ass." He was about to go to his room to start the search when it occurred to him. "Don’t do anything weird or I’ll kick your ass."
