do you use pose boxes? may I ask where you get yours if so?

oh anon...of course I use poseboxes! Preview pictures and storytelling require it.

But to answer your question!

First up: here are some of the top-tier pose items I use. I use these for every single picture I take of a sim where I've got a specific idea in mind.

Some of these will be the same ones referenced by @pixeldolly in this post.

First up is the Freezer Clock by Treeag.

This is a requirement if you need a picture of something you know you'll only be able to capture during an animation. Also required if you need to have a picture with a sim and they won't. stop. moving. Also needed if you need to take a picture with more than one sim in it!

As the MTS post says, "This object will allow you to stop the time in the sim world and/or freeze a sim individually in a middle of an animation sequence at the point of particular interest."

A tip for use: if there are children or any sim younger on the lot, one adult must remain unfrozen while you use this. Unless you'd like a visit from the social worker. 😬

Next is the rightfully famous Decorgal Custom Modeling Poses Overlay Hack V2 w/Face Overlays.

This one is essential, as it has:

1) face overlays

2) 10+ standing poses for masculine and feminine poses

3) 5+ laying and sitting poses

4) It's an overlay! It means that at least 3 poses can be used on top of each other at the same time. @pixeldolly's post explains why this is helpful and good, especially concerning facial expressions.

@sparklesim's “Nudge” joint overlay posebox is a newer piece of CC, but I can't image how storytellers coped without it!

You can bend just about any joint into any angle with this. And you can make the entire sim shift up and down, left to right!

A tip for use: the angles provided can be a little stark and unnatural. If you're looking for subtler adjustments, check out the following 2 recommendations.

Next is the PoserBOX by schizophreniastudios.

This posebox has a combination of arm poses, as well as overlays for the head, neck, spine, arms and legs of a sim.

It's a really useful posebox. The overlays are subtle (increase in increments of 5°).

I've used it to nudge a pose into something more natural. And I've also used it a lot in storytelling; a tilt of the head can show a lot of emotion!

Next is XxBrokenEmoAngelxX's Walk-Poses Hack.

This is only 6 arm poses, but I use them all of the time! Because sometimes I'll have a sim doing a facial expression that suits my picture need, but their arms will be flailing all over the place. 😒

This is an overlay, which means you can use it along with another posebox. And it makes sims put their arms down, lol.

Next is Decorgal's Standing Talk/Conversation Hack for Movie Makers (and Storytellers).

I highly recommend the updated version made by @theonlyexceptioncollab - it adds XxBrokenEmoAngelxX's medium priority edit, as well as start and stop functions.

It's a facial expression posebox that pulls talking, reacting, listening and action animations from the basegame. Pretty necessary if you need any shot with people having some kind of facial expression it it.

For preview pictures, I really like overlaying one or three of these on top of each other. So my models can have interesting (but not cartoonish) facial expressions.

And finally (for my essential poseboxes) is Decorgal’s Sitting Talk/Conversation Hack for Movie Makers (and Storytellers).

@theonlyexceptioncollab also updated that here - that’s the version I use!

Like the standing conversation hack, this one has tons of facial expressions, but for sims who are sitting. Uh, but it also has some standing ones in there as well?

These are my top-tier poseboxes, but I also have some second-tier poseboxes I use often as well.

@deedee-sims‘s Hand and Leg Adjuster poseboxes are just the thing I need when a pose is perfect...but a sim’s hand is cutting into their thigh. You know what I’m talking about.

But! You can also make a sim point, make a fist, cross their legs while standing, and appear to walk!

Also super useful for storytelling (but not as much talked about, imo) are the Expansion Pack Animation boxes (set to overlay here) and Jaydee’s Loading Screen Posebox (set to medium priority by @bruised-pixels).

I find the Expansion Pack anim boxes (the very colorful ones noted in the picture) totally indispensable for storytelling. Layered with the right angles and poses, you can do quite a bit with these!

And the Loading Screen Posebox is excellent for preview pictures!

And as a bonus: here are some actual, straight-up pose boxes I use all of the time.

These I use a lot because they either have poses that are subtle and not crazy (for preview pictrues), or, have useful sitting poses (for storytelling).

Royal Greetings Animation Box

@mortia-laura did a great job with Greet Expectations default greetings mod. I loved it and use it for my gameplay for a long time. Animations are great but it was hard to catch at the right moment for pictures.

So here is Royal Greetings Animation Box !

All credits go to @mortia-laura . I just extracted animations and turn it to a animation box.

Little details:

All animations are properly named.

There is 4 main menus: Adult, Adult Female, Adult Male and Child.

Adult, Adult Female and Adult Male animations works on Elder, Adult, Young Adult and Teen.

Animations are on a loop. Sims will repeat the animation until you cancel it.

If you start 2 animation at the same time, they will be perfectly synchronise

Handkiss animation need cheats like "move objects on" and "boolprop snapobjectstogrid false".

You don't need traits or Great Expectations mod for this to work.

xXBrokenEmoAngelXx's Poseboxes and overlays for The Sims 2 (2010) [DOWNLOAD]

On this episode of "Geez, I'm old", I'm uploading a folder here of all of xXBrokenEmoAngelXx's animation boxes and (probably) all of his objects and the required meshes for them. I haven't really looked at what's in here in awhile but it includes equip-able accessories, his personal poses, walk poses, and overlay versions of Decorgal's paintings from 2010.

I wasn't friends with him and by the time I found out The Sims community existed on YouTube too he'd already peaced out. For some reason some very cliquey machinima creators at the time were guarding this like they were channeling Gollum or something. I don't know why, we were all a bunch of sad (mostly) gay teenagers playing virtual dollhouse. Please calm down, my dudes. 🙄

I just happened to find his poses and overlays on an ancient and now probably defunct Sims forum about a decade ago. I never really made too many machinimas and I shared even less of them, I was mostly skittering around The Exchange at the time. There shouldn't be any NSFW stuff in here (that I can recall, because if there was I wouldn't have downloaded it.) aside from a rug that's just a very large blood puddle.

not me, making poseboxes???? I wanted to have this finished for pride, but it was not ready to be released, and I'd rather it be good than 'on time'. Anyways, poseboxes aren't inherently gendered anyways, but these were created 100% with the male frame so 🤷‍♀️

General posebox caveats etc: - meant for use with omsps like normal, the floor kiss one clips a bit on the hands with larger clothing… created with the club distress couch as the prop, so some couches might not work well with where the arms and feet touch it, both of these issues you may be able to fix with @deedee-sims Hand/Arm Overlay Box and for good measure, her Leg Overlay Box as well (because they are a godsend to anyone who poses regularly.) Uhm, lets see. no height slider for this one, they're all set at 1.0.... 12 poses total, 6 couples. honestly idk what else.
