dracula cinema sins but the counter goes up every time the book does a racism/xenophobia/antisemitism/orientalism
#dracula#dracula daily#ok i thought of this as kind of a silly joke#but also its interesting to think about#how in the same way that cinema sins is a shallow and intellectually bankrupt way of looking at stories/tropes#that does a disservice not only to the movies it ''analyzes'' but also to the concept of media analysis as a whole#simply doing a racism tally on dracula on its own would be a similarly bad way of engaging with the text#as it ignores the role that these instances play both in the story and on its role in history#both as a product of its time and a showcase of the fears held by white victorians#and as a text that continues to be a major influence in vampire tropes/the horror genre as we know it today#but anyway its fun to imagine a little ding after reading ''they are fearless and without religion‚ save superstition''
