You know what really is a crime? That Tam never got to see the baby Alicorn, aka the ones he saved.

We never even got to see Tam coming back and seeing freaking SILVENY, aka, the one who technically got Tam to be kidnapped (not hate on her tho. It was for a good cause).

WE DIDNT EVEN GET TO IT!!!! LIKE PLEASE SHANNON PLEASE MAKE THIS HAPPEN IN BOOK 10!!!

(Like I wanna see Sophie and Tam doing research or hanging out, and like they go to the Alicorns, and Tam sorta awkward about it. Then they see Silveny, who just stares at Tam. Sophie realizes that this is Tam first time with the Alicorns since he came back, and she realizes how stupid she is. Tam waves awkwardly, not knowing what to do. Then Silveny just runs to Tam, nuzzling her face (?) against his cheek, neighing (???) as if thanking him for saving her babies and Tam freaking smiles and laughs, actually enjoying the moment, but then he realizes Sophie still there, who’s smiling but surprised, and puts on a straight face. (But that doesn’t stop him from being with Silveny)).

FINALLY, ive finished 25% of exile, the second book in the kotlc series. here are some thoughts i had :)

tags: @aylin-hijabi, @that-multi-fandom-hijabi, @tastetherainbow290, @nerdy-girl3791 (im tagging everyone who asked to be tagged in my notes for book one, but lmk if you wanna be tagged too / dont wanna be tagged anymore)

first off, why are second books in a series always the ones that take the most time / are harder to start? ig it could be that we've already established the worldbuilding n main characters, but its still that dragging stage between *where you already know mostly everything in the universe* and *where the climax builds up in anticipation of the "final battle" or the beginning of the third act, usually*. nothing to do w the book itself, just an observation

second off, alicorns are so much more important than being just "another species to save", im sure of it. theres wayyy too much of the council getting involved n talk abt how alicorns are sooo important. to anyone whos read percy jackson it kinda reminds me of the ophiortaurus (bessie) from sea of monsters, who seemed to be a recurring animal side character who turned out to have a lot of significance to the very universe they were in. im expecting smth similar, why else would everyone go to such lengths to ensure alicorns dont go extinct? or maybe im overthinking it lmao but what gives it away is the heckses literally tryna kidnap silveny-

speaking of the heckses, who the fuck tries to steal an alicorn. stinas parents are the whiniest bitches ive ever seen, and im a fifteen year old girl. like cmon ive seen some drama queens over the years, but those two- also, fucking stina. i mentioned before that i hope to see some character development w her, so shes not just the boring one-dimensional mean girl thats prevalent in literally every piece of media thats come out since mean girls w regina george. clearly not yet, tho, but im waiting on it (if it does not happen i will be majorly disappointed)

also, delving into theories now. its kinda far-fetched, but, was brant w the black swan ? i mean, it would add up pretty decently. it would explain why his guilt for jolies death runs so deeply (since grady rlly rlly seems to believe that the black swan killed her) because he would be with the literal organization that killed her. it would also explain reeeeaaaaalllllyyyy well why he recognized sophie. the fact that he knew her was wayy too emphasized to mean nothing. idk JUST A THEORY, its not based off of anything other than it would fit nicely w everything else.

but also if grady is so adamant that it was the black swan, and (hypothetically) brant is w the black swan, then would it be improbable to assume that he killed her? which would explain the guilt even MORE. but then again, he does seem to love her, so that last part is added very tentatively. (maybe he killed her by accident... but then would the note to grady three days before her death just be a coincidence? im sure that has some deeper meaning.)

maybe it wasnt the black swan who sent those notes to grady...

to end on a funnier note: alicorn poop. sophie faceplanted into alicorn poop. it happens to all main characters, it always has to be someone walking in at the worst moment. i thought id be the vackers w keefe who show up n embarass her, but who better than the council to get humiliated in front of ? i dont hate sophie i just laugh at her pain

i think thats all for the 25% mark, im gonna keep reading today. im gonna go to my grandmas house so maybe i can get a couple hundred pages in !!!

imagine if the dizznee triplets ask questions when they have someone over for dinner. like they do that normally yeah but imagine if they become outta pocket once theres a visitor.

its christmas and the dizznees celebrate it (juline canonly watches a lot of human movies so im guessing theyve learnt ‘hey christmas is talked about a lot i wonder what it is’ they dont get it still but they celebrate it still ) and the dinner is ending so theyre chatting and stuff and sophies talking about christmas and dex is making mental notes ( search human pastries for next celebration, all that shit ) and sophies just ranting about the foods cooked during the celebration and the triplets just go: ‘how are cows made?’

dex, without missing a beat, just simply says, ‘from their mom’s vagina’

and keefe is horrified. he’s eating, happily scarfing down the ripplepuffs, then his mind was filled with the images of a cow giving birth and he’s horrified

he started choking on his dessert and everyone’s there, just watching him, the kids are rolling with laughter.

Day 7: Flashback

Topic: What if they were too late?

This was not how things were meant to go.

Sophie couldn't help but crash down on her knees and sob.

This was not how things were meant to go.

And yet, here she was.

If she didn't have her stupid crush on Fitz, if she didn't agree to help him, if she..

There were too many thoughts circling her head.

"Foster? Foster! Stay with me Foster!" She whipped her head back to see a familiar blonde boy. Keefe.

"How.. how did you get here?" She asked, her voice cracking. They were in the middle of nowhere, with no crystals leading to their destination. And yet, there he was, his ice blue eyes glancing down at where she knelt.

"I have my ways" He tried to joke. But it didn't work. Sophie could here the the tinge of sadness in his voice

This was not how things were meant to go.

This was not how things were meant to go!

She was so stupid. Too stupid to hear the voices in her mind. Too stupid to understand what her head was screaming. So stupid that her crush on Fitz made everything, everything awful. So stupid that-

"Foster, don't," Keefe said, kneeling down beside her. "everything will be okay."

She didn't need to be an empath to see just how destroyed he was inside. Didn't need to be a telepath to hear his mind cursing. Didn't need to read his mind to know that he didn't believe what he said.

But she held his hand anyway.

And they both burst into tears along with everyone around them. Timkin, Stina, Edaline, Vika, Grady, Tarina and Fitz.

And she couldn't help but think "What if I'd been here earlier"

As they stared at Silvenys dead body.

Issue One: Animals

Shannon obviously does not know animals, orif she does it's only cats. You don't feed an animal by shoving its nose into the food. You leave the feed in the cage until it eats it. Won't eat it? Put treats in the food.

I find Silveny surviving on her own for thousands of years in credibly unlikely. Horses aren't great at surviving without humans. The normal life span for domestic horses is about thirty years, but for wild ones it's around ten or fifteen.

Silveny usually seems to be in lush valleys, which presents two problems: long hooves and colic.

Hooves are like fingernails: they never stop growing, so they need to be trimmed. Walking around on rough surfaces like rocks helps wear them down naturally, but since Silveny doesn't seems to like rocks, her hooves would be very long and very painful. Imagine never trimming your fingernails. Ever. Now imagine you have to walk around on them. Mmhmm.

Colic is basically an upset stomach. However, horses physically cannot barf. Silveny's morning sickness is incredibly worrying because if she's barfing, she is two seconds away from dying. Unless Sophie mistook her drooling from eating clover as barfing. It's happened, and if horses get into clover they do drool an unholy amount. It's not dangerous, just annoying, because then you'll most likely get horse slobber all over your hands. Colic, however, is very dangerous. The horse will stand up and lay down repeatedly for a while, then move into doing this thrashy roll. Now, their guts aren't tacked down, so they can twist, which kills the horse. I've known five horses who colicked. One died, one had to have surgery, and the other three are only fine because we walked them around and around and around, which got their stomach moving. If your horse is standing up and laying down repeatedly and there aren't any noises coming from their stomach, walk them until they poop and don't let them lie down or stop. Also call an experienced horse person who knows what they're doing. Colic happens when the weather changes suddenly or when the horse eats too much too fast. If Silveny's always in lush valleys, she's bound to have colicked at least once.

Why doesn't Sophie help out with the animals more? If she lives there, Grady and Edaline probably expect her to work.

Also, Shannon describing things like a baby check up as "personal": the animals don't care. That's a human thing. Cleaning sheaths is a regular maintenance thing. If you dont know what that is, look it up, I'm not explaining that on the Internet. They don't like it, but that's because they think you're a fly. Animals don't get "personal." Now, if Silveny didn't want a check up because she didn't like the way it felt, that would be reasonable. But she's never had a check up, so she doesn't know.
