hello tumblr i return from the mysterious crypt to show off something i have been working on

basically ever since shovel knight pocket dungeon got mod support and a mod showcase by yacht club themselves was announced i couldn’t hold myself back and have been working on a custom character nonstop and it eventually became a 4 character pack i wanted d to release

these below are the characters in question, the percentages mark estimates on how close i think they are to done in terms of spritework

i will further discuss the mod’s progress and some details below, if you dont wanna look at that i hope you look forward to this mod’s release

alright lets do this

Freddy Fazbear

this one is quite close to done, just have to work on the portraits in terms of art, so this one should be done soon enough art wise

The Knight/ The Vessel/Ghost/Whatever

this one is literally done idk what else to say all the sprites and portraits are done, only thing i can think of that i may add is a hub idle

Frisk and Madeline

bunching these two together because simply put, the only thing done for them artwise is the sprites in the progress picture, so i dont have anything to show off about them

Misc

This section is just for scrapped stuff/concept art i wanna show off so erm yea enjoy that

keep in mind this post only covers the sprites, implementation hasnt even started yet lol, but i hope yall are looking forward to this coming out as much as i am………… conclusion goes here

What is The Quandary Sage?

Who on EARTH was going to tell me the Quandary Sage was a secret character

Like Oh yeah I 100% the game! No I did not. Well I did now besides the DLC, and wow hey! Is no one going to talk about like What the quandary sage implies??? Rambles and theories beneath the cut

So,

This room, huh?? Tons of unfinished portals, besides two that are open, which were for some reason already pre-completed when I unlocked the Sage. This may be a bug though, so take that with a grain of salt, though none of the other secret characters had their quandaries pre-completed, so it may be intentional? Not to mention the dead silence, contrasting the rest of the game with it's music.

So what exactly are the portals then? Are they actually these magical rifts within the pocket dungeon itself? Other dungeons within dungeons? The wrench could imply something mechanical going on but.. maybe I'm looking too deep in that regard. Regardless, the Sage creates these somehow. More importantly to me, what even is the Quandary Sage?

When falling in battle, the two leaves on his head wilt, and the rest of his body disappears. There's also a sprout silhouette on the front of the helm as well, so it leaves me to wonder. Is he some sort of plant creature? What is he?

Could he be an animated set of armor as well? Is he something else besides a plant? Maybe both at once? We don't see any creature like him that comes specifically from the Castle Quandary, due to the rest of the enemies and creatures in the game are already existing creatures from Landurr. Besides this bean guy anyway.

Though judging by dialogue, he came directly from the beanstalk sprouting, and wasn't here the entire time. Though according to other sprites of the Quandary Sage, he doesn't seem to have any neck of sorts.

He can't he the same species as Legion, Manny, or Meriad. Those are all made of presumably multiple creatures. Meriad being perhaps the only exception. That doesn't explain the plant-like features as well. Not to mention that the Quandary Sage has presumably been within the Pocket Dungeon since before anyone was trapped within it.

So does the box adapt to what is absorbed within it? How long has the box even existed? Puzzle Knight implies that it's existed for generations. Hopefully we'll have official answers soon in future DLC??

Shrug My mind's racing at all the implications this has. Anyone else have any theories or ideas as to what the Quandary Sage could be? Or at all the nature of the Pocket Dungeon and how he applies to it? Any comments to try n' figure this out are very much appreciated.

Prism and Puzzle knight play together Shovel of hope.

Got the chance to play with my father the whole campaign of Soh (we skiped the boss rush level because we were stuck for one hour, where literally one time, Specter would throw us his scythe faster than normal (I bet he was tired of us dying all the time XD)) and got the idea to make it as if Puzzle and Prism are the ones playing.

Also, my father liked the game and last week, he started playing Specter's campaign, so maybe in the future there's a part 2 of this, as Puzzle knight playing SoT hshshs.

UPDATE: SLOT CLOSED! However I'm planning to open some actual commission, so if you're interested keep an eye on that!

They announced mod support for Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon and I have a few ideas in mind, but it's Steam exclusive and I only own the Switch version of the game. So!

-Half-body fully shaded for either a copy of the game or a Steam Card of 25 dollars (I'm European, the converted prices should check up)

CAN DRAW: Human, anthro, object-heads, robots, and OCs/characters from different media! (Included but not exclusive to: Shovel Knight, Cuphead, Pokemon, etc. Ask me about more for info if you need)

CAN'T DRAW: Complex/too colurful designs (again ask if unsure), and while I usually decide the posing I won't make and refuse to make hateful, political, ambigous/NSFW art

I'll work on the piece *after* the payment is done: prices are the ones aformentioned and because PD and cards have a set price those can't be changed. I CANNOT accept other kinds of payment at the moment.

I'll try finish it as soon as possible, shouldn't take more than a week but keep in mind I also have stuff like uni so if it takes a bit more, please bare with me. You can ask about progress/snipets of the art.

It's NOT first comes first served, and I'll edit the post once/if slots are closed (for now it's just one)
