I experienced the sun rising and setting in the eastern sky today. Anti-crespular rays, or anti-solar rays, are a meteorological optical phenomena similar to the sunset rays many have experienced in the western sky, except they appear opposite the sunset in the eastern sky. Anti-crespular rays are essentially parallel, but appear to converge toward the anti-solar point, or the vanishing point, due to a visual illusion from a linear perspective.

The rays replicate the pattern of the mountains that the sun is highlighting in the western sky, in this case, the Beartooth Mountains in Clark, Wyoming. In my extensive travels around the world, having viewed thousands of sunsets, I have only experienced this phenomenon from my homestead in Clark, Wyoming.
