ROUND 1 BRACKET LISTINGS

Welcome to Round 1 of the Wasted Woman Poll, the tournament to see which fridged woman deserved better!

Thank you everyone for your patience for Round 1 to begin. Now that the semester is over, I finished the list of match-ups for the Round 1 bracket.

There were 89 contestants for this tournament. Anyone familiar with tournaments knows that it doing a 89-contestant, single-elimination tournament would be annoying. Rather than cutting out 25 contestants to make it a 64-contestant tournament, I opted to use the format of a 64-contestant tournament, just with some of the poll in Round 1 (a majority of them, actually) being three-way polls with a single winner rather than solely two-way polls. So out of the 89 contestants going into Round 1, only 32 will go on to Round 2. Many of the listings in Round 1 will be characters from the same series going against each other, so that the future rounds will be more varied.

The tournament will be split into 4 sets of 8 polls each, with every poll running for a whole link. Below the cut will be the list of match-ups for each set and when the polls will premiere.

If there are any mistakes at all (spelling, if a character appears twice, if the media someone is listed under is incorrect, etc.) please let me know! I did double-check it, but I'm only human so errors do happen.

Sara’s brown eyes avert from Sherri’s lips, not wanting to look at them while she spoke. Hearing that the other woman enjoyed their kiss last night is a surprise to her. Kissing, as fun as it is, wasn’t something that Sara’s done in a long while. It’s been years. Two, exactly, since she’s kissed anyone. So, really, she’s surprised that anyone - let alone, someone like Sherri; who is both tough, beautiful, and probably with a lot of experience - would like kissing her.

“I, uh, enjoyed kissing you, too. I thought your lips weren’t going to be as soft as they were, but they were soooo soft and uh, your lips tasted a bit like donuts you snuck in.” Sara blushed, knowing that she rambled. She can’t help it though. Nerves and all. “Do you, uh, want to try it again, sometime?”

“Is this seat taken?” Sherri to Sara (early at the pageant!!) @shutuprhian

Having crushes was nothing new to Sara Avraham, but having crushes who were women were way different and foreign to her. She was one to have crushes often and was the type to crush hard, otherwise. It wasn’t something she could help at all and was something that had been happening since she was a child. A lot of the time she wished that she could fix the quickness of the crushes she caught, but it seemed impossible for her not to crush on someone during any point in her life where she’s been single. All a guy had to do was smile at her to get her heart fluttering a million miles a minute. Well, that or be nice to her. And wow, Sherri Hart was unbelievably nice to her and so unbelievably strong. Which is why Sara had such a huge, ridiculous, over the moon crush on her. And weirdly, Sara didn’t care that she was a woman. She just questioned if all those moments where she admired women in the past were her having crushes on them.

But ignore that, cause in a way, Sara knew she shouldn’t have a crush on Sherri. She was her competition, after all, and they shared a hotel room. There was no room for romance there, and there honestly shouldn’t be due to the possibility of a distraction getting in the way of Sara’s win. Sara was there at the pageant for Miss USA to honor her late husband, who used to tease her about how she could be Miss USA, and possibly a Miss Universe. But God, that fiery red hair of Sherri’s, that snow-white skin, and those big bright green eyes that were hard to look away from, made it so hard for her not to fall for her. Sara wanted to stop, wanted to maybe crush on someone else - someone not in the pageant - but her mind was on Sherri and the pageant, and those things alone.

“Is this seat taken?” Sherri whispers in greeting, causing Sara to jump in her seat and turn a very bright shade of red. They are all together, one of the organizers discussing the talent show they’re going to have, and Sara’s attention had been on him. Already she knew her talent, so she didn’t have a problem with turning her attention away from the man and turning her attention to Sherri, who was spectacular to look at up close. Her eyelashes were divine and they made Sara’s heart leap. She turns away for a moment because of that.

Then she turns back to her. “It’s not. Have a seat. You haven’t missed much.” She gives Sherri a sugar-sweet smile, tapping the chair beside her as an invite. Sherri sits beside her and gives her a grin of her own.

“Thanks. Everyone else seems a bit stuck up, but you seem really genuine, Sara. So I’m glad I asked you.” Sherri nods her head and then turns to face forward. Genuine? Sara thinks to herself. No one’s ever said that to her but she believes it’s true. So hearing it from Sherri is really nice. And due to her huge, whomping crush she’ll remember what she said throughout the day.

3. How did you choose their name?

honestly? i just clicked through the auto generated names and picked out a first name and a last name that i liked. i added eden about half a year later as a middle name bc i was thinking about her smuggler career and thought that if she had a middle name that sounded like a code name of sorts, people would probably regularly call her that?? hence ‘eden’. so she was mainly known as eden as a smuggler and everyone in the crew she had called her that too (or at least that’s what she remembers).

8. What (if anything) do you relate to within their character/story?

uhhh. i’m not sure?? not a lot, tbh. dana is very much a thrill seeker that’ll do reckless shit bc she felt like it and thought it was a good idea at the time. she’s also an optimist and a huge extrovert. i’m just…not. i’m quiet unless you get to know me, i’m pretty cynical a lot of the time and i’m happy to stay at home and draw or play video games. i’m also not a smuggler or a war hero so that’s off the list too. i think the most i can relate to is a shared hatred of the jedi but for dana, it’s a heck of a lot more personal.

15. What is something about your OC can make you laugh?

just how much of a damn fucking trouble maker she is and how much she drives everyone else up the wall with her antics. bastila is exasperated pretty much 24/7 when putting up with her and it’s hilarious most of the time.

19. What is your favourite fact about your OC?

probably the fact that she’s a force user that is disillusioned with the jedi. this is a big thing i like from any star wars character (one of many reasons why i like ahsoka and some kotor 2 characters i will not name bc spoilers as much as i do) which is why i did that with dana. it’s just a type of character in the universe i like. i also like that she’s a morally dubious hero. like…she’s clearly on the side of good but she does some questionable shit to get the job done and her alignment is, overall, neutral.

IRA KINJAL TIWARI

1. What was the first element of your OC that you remember considering (name, appearance, backstory, etc.)?

the very, very first thing was how she’d get involved in the plot of jjba but tbf, i came up with that very quickly as i knew i wanted her to be around during stardust crusaders so i went with the really obvious route of her being a stand user that was under the effects of dio’s mind control, meaning she went onto to be freed from that control by jotaro and join the group and things go from there. that wasn’t really much to do with her as a character. the first thing i did was a mix between coming up with her appearance and coming up with some base personality traits. her appearance i settled on pretty quickly but her personality has changed a fair bit (when i first came up with her, she was light-hearted and optimistic and now she’s quiet, anxious and has self-esteem that’s too low to trip on). the main thing that stuck with her personality is how emotional she is and how easy she is to bring to tears. ira is a huge cry baby.

4. In developing their backstory, what elements of the world they live in played the most influential parts?

stands and dio. she’s a stand user so i had to come up with a stand and it’s ability and also throw in some symbolism in there (there isn’t really any tbh) in order for her to really logically be a part of the story bc the crusaders wouldn’t bring a non-stand user along with them bc they wouldn’t be able to defend themselves from stands (hence them not letting anne continue to tag along). as for dio, i had already decided that he would put ira under mind control as it was a quick way to get her into the story. from there i had to think about other things like her time under the control, her life before then and also her first meeting with dio. i also had to consider that it’s implied in part 3 that dio didn’t want to leave egypt so in order for her to have met him, she needed to be in egypt which is when i decided that she was going to have been raised in cairo.

16. What is something about your OC can make you cry?

the amount of fucking shit she goes through. mind control wasn’t pleasant. she lost her family just prior bc dio is an asshole (what’s new??) and then there’s the plot of stardust crusaders and the characters who die then and then she manages to get her life together somewhat over the next decade before it goes to shit again, she relapses and then she’s killed pretty tragically. like…i just gave her a shit time and i feel really bad but i do this to all my characters. don’t trust me to write something happy. i make my characters miserable, even if they get a happy ending. sadly, ira doesn’t get a happy ending, as much as she absolutely fucking deserves one bc she literally has never done anything wrong.

SARA SHERRY POLNAREFF

1. What was the first element of your OC that you remember considering (name, appearance, backstory, etc.)?

i first came up with her appearance first bc i was bored and wanted to design another jjba oc. i had stone ocean in mind when coming up with her since i was about to start reading it so i tried to implement part 6 style of outfits when coming up with it. then i got attached and thought about how to add the design into what i had already built with ira. sorted out colours to show resemblance to both ira and polnareff and boom: new character that is their daughter. everything else came after that.

4. In developing their backstory, what elements of the world they live in played the most influential parts?

stands, ira, polnareff, jolyne, jotaro, joseph and my friends oc, armani. obviously, again, jjba oc so of course she’s going to be a stand user, especially when both her parents were too. so i had to design that. i also needed to actually use a music reference with the name this time since in part 3 with ira, i could use the tarot which i did (ira’s stand is called ‘blue justice’) but by part 6, stands were all music references so i needed to find something era appropriate that also fit sara as a character. i went with the ironic route by calling the stand ‘lady peace’ after the band our lady peace which is not how anyone would describe sara or her stand (literally she got involved in stone ocean via getting arrested for aggravated assault. doesn’t sound that peaceful, does it??) but i felt it fit well. as for that list of characters, i had already decided a bunch of things about sara; she was ira and polnareff’s daughter, she lived in america by part 6 for reasons i needed to come up with, she was romantically interested in jolyne and she looked up to jotaro and armani as parental figures. i decided to have her get taken in by joseph since it seemed logical that he’d do that after the events of part 4 and 5 and it’d also explain her presence in america rather than her being in france. mostly, it was considering her relationships and how she’d fit into the story really. it did also help when developing her personality as she took after her parents but also jotaro a lot and she’d developed various anger issues about the events of previous parts that were beyond her control.

16. What is something about your OC can make you cry?

again, the amount of shit she goes through. tbf, this was less my fault this time. losing ira, yes, that was my fault. everything else is mostly stuff that happened in the plot of jjba anyway. still, she has a pretty rough time and again, doesn’t get a happy ending. though, to be entirely honest, if it weren’t for the way stone ocean ends, i would’ve given her a happy ending bc she deserves one goddammit!!one thing that actually honestly did make me tear up a little was thinking about her coming out (her being a lesbian) bc i started writing a scene for it around the same time that i was planning my own coming out to my parents so writing her coming out to joseph, being her main parental figure at the time, and getting a positive response was kind of therapeutic?? and i remember getting teary writing joseph’s dialogue. when revisisting that scene, i’ve changed some of the dialogue and it resembles what my parents said to me and idk, i guess bc that’s got a bit of a personal touch to it, it makes me a little emotional.
