Do you have any idea how hard it is to put armour on a fish, and make it look functional. I’m really happy with how this one turned out especially since I’m inexperienced with drawing armour.

The spear could have been done better along with the waist? plates. (The thing between the pectoral and pelvic fins, idk if that counts as a waist or what).

Fins can stick out quite a bit, and are vital to movement so, it makes sense to want to armour them. I decided that the easiest way you’d armour the fins would be via sleeves with the amour attached. I also added blades to the fin armour for extra combat effectiveness.

I went the easy/expected route for the helmet and modelled it after the skull of dunkleosteus. Also I love dunkleosteus. Also the helmet can open and close adding even more “teeth” to the already toothy shark mers.

Unfortunately there’s not a lot of weapons that’d work well underwater. You’d think swords would be effective but they’re only kinda good. I went with spears after watching a video about what merfolk would probably actually use in combat. And it was one of the better options for underwater combat. (The video is by Shadaversity on YouTube btw).

This individual’s shark part is based on the hammerhead shark, though you probably wouldn’t have known since they’re known for their hammerhead and not their generic shark tail.

just learned shadaversity is a prat, disappointing

I thought his points on ai in his original vid on it made sense, and I'm sure there's still some good points in there. it just sucks I guess

to be clear, I hate how ai is being used to push artists out of the art, in basically every flavor of art. It also sucks that many of us will have to learn how to adapt and eventually work with it to get a foothold in the chaos stream of the industry. it's soul crushing and it sucks

Well it's a great sword now. As opposed to the normal longsword he usually has. Puts more weight behind the swings.
