To capture the past, preserve the present and anticipate the future is the quintessential essence of an heirloom masterpiece. This is such a moment where we pave a new legacy; a story cemented by a mother who started it all. Our atelier was approached by a dear friend to the House of Seza who commissioned us to craft a very unique creation. She tasked us to sculpt a ring that is an expression of the bonds between a mother and her daughter; an unbreakable thread of love, compassion and protection. Honouring her ancestral linage, the design features an ancient parable shared across Mesopotamia: "لا حب كحب امي" The saying reads “There is no love like my mother’s love”. This powerful expression is showcased in a truly bespoke medium where our artisans created an entirely new, custom Art Deco inspired Arabic typeface showcased in an ambigramic style (meaning it can read both left to right and right to left). The ancient sinuous flow of Arabic calligraphy coupled with the elegant proportioned angularity of the Art Deco movement is an exquisite marriage of aesthetics that will remain timeless for generations to come as this masterpiece is passed from mother to daughter. Introducing the second curated masterpiece from our El Arabiyyah Collection | Lebanon Edition, Qadisha. Meaning “sacred/sacrosanct” in Aramaic, this bewildering pendant embodies the monastic architecture found atop the historical landscapes within the Bsharri and Zgharta districts of the Qadisha valley of northern Lebanon. We are ponderers of the ancient and the classical, sculpting and weaving time, art and space into a magnificent creation. Commissioned by a Patron of Seza for her son, we were tasked with embodying an ancient prophetic name through the artistic tapestry of their ancestral lineage. Inspired by the Babylonian Ishtar gate, we married the etymology of the son’s name with the ethereal mosaic motif of the Babylonian lion linked through a series of horizontal textural lines each a metaphor for a family bond.
