Africa Live - The Village

I first discovered it through  FAFA, an ethnic clothing store I like. There’s a cafe, an art gallery with photos by Jan C Schlegel, an open air dance club and bar, a beach which holds music events, and balloon rides. 

The music stream is wonderful, usually playing African music or afro-pop. The dance balls and dance pad hold authentic looking dance animations.

Social Gaming

Social gaming. Be it a competition, chance, simulation or vertigo, all require thinking, creativity and imagination skills. Competition games such as Dota, Fortnite and Call of Duty, simulation games such as FIFA 19, SIMS 4, SecondLife and IMVU, chance games like casino games and vertigo games such as Cut the Ropes and many more. Most of the games nowadays more about monetization and requires gamers to pay especially when it comes to a more advanced or special advantage that can enhance their gameplay experience. According to the documentary shared on the content uploaded on Blackboard, it was mentioned that EVE online requires gamers to fork out at least $15 a month to continue playing. It is said that people want something more than just acquiring the next big thing or the next set of equipment to use for the game. It is about money and assets and mostly is about power especially to people who have larger aspirations. Gamers are willing to come out with the money just to possess something that is most talked about, most admired, or most powerful within that game community. They will somehow feel in control, powerful and better than others that also will help them win or achieve something. I have experienced with a simulation community called IMVU which is quite similar to SecondLife. Bellow I have attached a video link to show a rough summarization of IMVU for the last 15 years.

In that community, we are allowed to create our own avatar and chat with people from all over the world and be in a virtual venue together. We are able to register to be a content creator to create items to be available for purchase by other users. This is where monetization comes in to play a part. In order for us to make items, we must have enough real credits that can be bought online and whatever we sell, we can earn the credits back. Credits accumulated through sales can then be generated to make more items for the store or even be sold out to other content creators, and that is where we can get real cash. In aspects of the content creator feature, in order for us create and to have an advertising badge for users to put on their profile card and bring around so others can view and then lead them to the store, we are required to pay per block. The more you play, the more and bigger the block of badge you will own. Monetization within this community does not only revolve around the features of IMVU content creators, other features such as VIP membership, relationship status, ability to view adult content with conditions, and many more too. Games that support interaction between their gamers or communities would, however, contribute to toxic environments for some women, LGBT communities, ethnic minorities and many more. As long as there is the ability to communicate with other gamers, possible uncomfortable actions and words are prone to happen. For IMVU, some chatrooms cater to specific people to join and share their same interest and same thoughts. People of the same interest and mindset are there to support each other. So users can always go to and join these groups as they prefer to avoid any random toxic people and problems that can happen anywhere outside the community. It is a good reminder to all gamers to stay safe and choose the group of people wisely.

[ EXPERIENCE ]

HOW LONG (MONTHS/YEARS?):  15+ years, but as for when I got good at it, 8+ years. PLATFORMS YOU’VE USED: the ones I’d focus on: Livejournal/Dreamwidth, neoboards, SecondLife, Tumblr, Discord, AOL.......................................................... BEST EXPERIENCE: Oh gosh there have been so many. As awful as Livejournal was in terms of people, I had a ton of fun at route_29, an open Pokemon RP where your characters became Pokemon Trainers and would travel, collect badges, meet life time friends... That was great. 

Also that time where I played a Sonic the Hedgehog as if he were Dr Gregory House because I didn’t take anything seriously at the time and my Wilson was ACTUALLY A WILSON and it was beautiful.

[ WRITING  PREFERENCES]

FLUFF, ANGST OR SMUT?: I’ve written all, and I think ultimately I prefer angst and fluff. Writing smut is fine and obviously with a character like Urataros, there sure is gonna be a lot of that, but I’m not always in the mood to write it. Also too many people try to lie about their ages and I do not want ANY of that so yeah. But Angst and fluff? Fun! I like it. Too much can be exhausting, but if it’s well written and has breaks in between, I think angst is great to write. Especially if you can write it well for characters that aren’t usually seen that way.

PLOTS OR MEMES: Lately I’ve preferred memes, but that’s mostly because of my timezone and that I have no way to keep up with plots since I can’t be super involved in stuff due to...timezone and working full time. Memes are a fun way for me to keep a handle on my character, write some funny stuff, and still feel involved. I’d love to be part of a plot if I knew I had time to take part in it, and if after I got home from work, it wasn’t already wrapped up. 

Sometimes I give up on plots for my characters because it’s only ever just me writing them, and that can be very discouraging and draining, I’ve found. 

LONG OR SHORT REPLIES: I don’t uuusually care, but I think I prefer a kind of balance. I think introspection is great, but I think if the reply is only introspection and maybe three words of dialogue, then I have nothing to respond to... I think that, ultimately, if your response is short but has a lot to respond to for the other person, then that is, in my opinion, MUCH better than five paragraphs of how Robert breathes and thought about making his bed. I think that kind of thing is great in novels, like, lots of detail and thoughts and cool aesthetics, but I think for roleplay, it’s not as good. 

Again, just my opinion. Which is why my replies are generally shorter, to the point, and don’t have much introspection. I dunno. I used to be able to do it, but now I’ve become so conscious about how my response reads to my partners and stuff that I can’t go back.

BEST TIME TO WRITE: After or before work. I try to get in some commentary between classes, but generally after work and on the weekends is the best time to reach me! I’m usually more rested, more giggly, and more excited. Way more creative after work and on days off. My 11pm is the 10AM of EST, so, it’s also when I catch more of my friends. 

ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE(S): I am not a good liar. I am a very honest person. PDA is great but sex and flirting makes me so embarrassed. I hide my face during steamy scenes in movies because i feel like a voyeur.

SO NO.......... I AM NOT LIKE URATAROS AT ALL.
