the steadily worsening climate change seasonal creep is having the same psychological effect on me as christmas creep, which is to say that I now have a reflexive negative emotional response to signs of spring before anything else, and then have to try and reorient when they're, like, actually seasonal

#hmm! bad!!#capitalism has classically conditioned me into being reflexively annoyed about christmas even in december #now climate change is trying to replace life-giving joy with anxiety and cynical despair about FLOWERS AND BIRDS... in my FAVORITE SEASON...#and with spring it's harder to track because like... 'it's too early for christmas' has a distinct calendar cutoff to anchor oneself to #seasonal changes are incremental and different each year and already prone to unpredictable fluctuations in the midwest anyway #I know the weather Hasn't Been normal for most of this year but-- mid-march IS normal for early spring... right? it's harder to pin down.#it's harder to remember without waypoints. were there flowers for my gramma's birthday when she was still alive a decade ago?#how cold was it then? in michigan? in the most changeable month of the most changeable season? I can't remember. I can't remember
