The Museum

Gee, coming up with things for this was not unlike coming up with adventures for the Sorcerer’s Quest--brain farts galore! But I managed to come up with some stuff. I’ve got references to official MOTU canons, but I’m mainly doing my own thing because Trolla is free real estate for the most part.

Okay, here we go.

IRL you’d want a parent to be a chaperone, but Orko’s a Certified Good Boy, Montork trusts him to help keep an eye on children.

Starting off by defining the Mage Emblems, because I’ve been looking for an excuse to do so in-story. Heck, this whole thing is an excuse for more Trolla worldbuilding, haha.

Doing a bit of exploring and seeing some prominent figures in Trolla’s history that I had fun coming up with (or rebranding into something else, i.e. Blim from the She-Ra episode ‘The Greatest Magic’ now being practically Santa Claus).

And I’m skipping Dr. Seagg’s presentation because most of the artifacts he talks about aren’t really relevant to this tale, I will say he mentions belongings of the Ringbearers, and at some point, the Horn of Evil comes up.

“Oh, he drives his sister up a wall, but he hasn’t done any property damage.”

Anyway, let’s go back to exploring this museum:

Considering that Ringbearers are extremely rare and Destroying Angels pop up at least once a generation, somebody had to keep them busy so that less innocents are killed in a rampage. DAs are extremely difficult to kill, you either need a Ringbearer or a Storm Spell cast by the Overlords (which was mentioned in an earlier post where one of Orko’s neighbors recounts the last Destroying Angel rampage), and the latter takes a bit of time to charge.

Whew! This was a long one!

Anyway, I admit to being a little nervous touching on Eternia. With it being the main setting of MOTU, I’m trying to strike a balance between being faithful to certain key factors and tones and stuff, but also putting my own little spin on it.

It is kind of funny to have this story set on Trolla and portray Eternia as the mysterious world the Trollans wonder about from time to time. In this AU, Trolla’s been cut off since the Ultimate Battleground, so they have no idea what current Eternia is like.

Orko can ask the questions when he ends up on Eternia.

Also, say ‘Hi’ to Adam!

I know that’s not what He-Ro’s staff looks like... I couldn’t figure out how to draw it. TT_TT

Hello, everyone, it's dinnertime! We've got some kind of soup that can only be made with local Trollan ingredients. Not obvious from this picture but will be in the following is that the soup bowls have little bendable spouts that serve as straws (had an earlier version of soup bowls in the Sorcerer's Quest).

Montork's be lookin' like a big pipe though, haha.

Got the first bit of color for Arkia and Snoob in that conversation panel! It actually took me a bit to figure out what colors I wanted them to be (all I knew was that Snoob's clothing had to be a color close to red, and that Arkia was a redhead with green eyes).

Careful Orko, that soup's hot, you'll burn your throat!

"Reminds me of the pearls used at Seagg's Artifact Vault."

Considering I have made my shipping preferences clear in other works outside this, that moment where Orko asks Arkia out is a little awkward for me. But, hey, not many people marry their first love, and Orko won't meet Dree Elle for some time, so...

(Not to mention Arkia's a spy, that automatically means trouble)

Imma have some fun with Dree Elle in my silly self-indulgent mental reboot AU.

In this universe, Dree Elle is a song mage, whose primary method of casting spells is through singing. Song mages are powerful and have a variety of songs for a variety of uses, but they have a weakness of being sitting ducks since zipping around can leave you out of breath, and it’s hard to sing when you’re out of breath.

It wasn’t an issue for her when she was on Trolla, since she led a peaceful life helping her mother Kyren (who’s a healer) tend to patients, expanding her knowledge of Trollan history, culture, and artifacts with her father Seagg (who’s a keeper of artifacts, a headcanon born from the beginning of “Dree Elle’s Return” and me wondering why Dree was at that vault and why that guard was answering to her like she was important), and tending to the children of her village (including her brother, the kid with the paddleball--whose name is Yuka in this because I hate the name Yukkers).

And then she ends up dimension hopping against her will. It does eventually lead her to Orko, but it’s still a wild ride for her and she’s forced to adapt.

Funny thing, I actually have a lot more Dree Elle doodles, but they’re doodles of the story behind the situation that Orko finds her in:

Which begged the question of how the heck Dree ended up in Etheria and how she ended up as a prisoner of the Horde, which honestly needs a post of its own at some point in the future. Here’s what the Horde was doing with her:

Which kinda killed her love for singing for a while, even after she was rescued and taken in by the Eternians:

But, to end this on a high note, she does eventually recover enough to don her medallion again (it’s her conduit much like Orko’s wand was), and fight off an evil Trollan spirit that came out of the Horn of Evil:

From then on, she’s a trusted ally of the Herioc Warriors.

(And she can have a proper romance with Orko, heheh. :3c)
