In 2018 Martina and I went on a big trip to Mexico. Our first stop were the cenotes and so we stayed in a hotel in Playa del Carmen. Actually it should be bull shark season, but unfortunately the bull sharks had not been seen already for two weeks. Diving in caves differs in many details than normal diving. After a proper briefing we could start. On the one hand, I found it refreshing to cool down and on the other, it was totally fascinating to float in the crystal-clear water and to watch the play of light and shadow. At the time that this camera was stolen by Emma the 15' tiger shark, Queen of Tiger Beach, George Schellenger @spacesharkearth was set up to film the removal of a hook from a lemon shark. Everything was all set and because it takes 2 hands to remove the hook while giving the shark affection, I put my camera down on the ground. Emma stole the camera as you can see! The hook removal wasn't filmed. Emma and many of the tiger sharks love stealing cameras and Emma quickly came in and stole my very expensive underwater camera! It was a professional canon 1DX, 2 Sea & Sea strobes and a @seacam_official housing! Of the 74 large cameras stolen since I found and named Tiger Beach roughly 20 years ago, Emma has taken 11 cameras. Another Tiger shark friend by the name of Relentless has taken 19! It's definitely not an aggressive move in fact if you look at it closely you can see that she doesn't even use her teeth! It's just like a dog having fun with a new chew toy so feel free to laugh at my expense! Even I think it's hilarious! 72 of the 74 cameras were recovered without much damage!
